4721  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Your merit will find you! on: December 16, 2020, 12:53:14 PM
For example, we have members who write 99% of their posts in bounty sections. Their activity on the forum should not have any impact on rank-up, IMHO.
Users who post LQ posts and by extension fill up the bounty section with all of their posts wouldn't rank up and no matter how much activity they have, would struggle to even earn more than one merit (cross Jr member rank), so their activity is still inconsequential and it shows that the merit system is working and there is no need for AI to assess users posts.
Accounts rank-up should be handled by artificial intelligence. Judging by the amount of posts currently on the forum
This system will still be criticized, it's somewhat not possible to find a system that wouldn't be scrutinized, the current system that has to do with merits for users before they rank up is the best imo, there's no need to hand the power over to a bot or a machine, it'll be complicating things too much, if you're a poster and you construct HQ posts, you'll definitely rank up, that means there's no need for change.
4722  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: the most important thing in the development of a project? on: December 16, 2020, 11:12:21 AM
Another important thing would be the community that supports a project, a big community means a big support system. There should be real people who are into that project, they can help for the development of the project.
I know a crypto community could help a project in one way or another, but that should come later, after the project must have proven that they are legitimate and not in the market to scam investors, cause I've seen projects that have quite a large community of users still turn into a shit project/coin; so what's more vital is how the projects sets up itself, then if all is good with the progress of the project, then definitely they'll be able to build a community effortlessly.

Up next is City vs West Brom, this should be an easy for the Citizens, I believe!
It should be, but close to 30 minutes played and no exciting move from City yet, the game is still slow and City players are moving somewhat lethargic with very few chances created, if City don't take maximum points from this game, then it's going to be very disappointing for them, this is a chance to close the gap on Chelsea who just lost and on others who are yet to play, I still expect City to win anyway.

Having said that, back to back losses for Chelsea, I'm sure Lampard will be mad at the boys and I wouldn't be surprised to see some changes come their next game, the good thing about this season is everyone is still in it, despite this loss and even if other contenders win, there's still not much difference on the table and whatever difference there is, is easily recoverable.
4724  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: December 14, 2020, 03:23:11 PM
Tbh, every of this fixture is going to be tough, we could pick a couple of favorites on paper for now, but then the game will be settled on the pitch and I'm expecting a couple of surprises, or to put in another way, upsets; last season City were eliminated by Lyon even when everyone expected Guardiola's men to go through, that result could give mochengladbach confidence in this game, I'll keep my fingers crossed till the games begin.
Barcelona vs PSG! That would really be a competition. Barcelona lost 4-0 in Paris a few years ago, and then won 6-1 at home before continuing. That was absurd.
I'm not expecting that crazy scoreline again, lol, and I think the both teams aren't even in form this season, things could obviously change before this game is played and I'll be hoping it does so we get a good match from both sides, imo, PSG go through.
4725  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some advice for Newbies. on: December 14, 2020, 06:31:00 AM
Op if you read through this board yesterday, you'd not have missed this topic started by lovesmayfamilis: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5299670.0, I'd like to make it clear that I or no one is against you or your posts, so you don't feel that way, but the thing is lately there have been numerous posts like this and it's fast becoming a 'tradition', one or maybe two of it, constructed in a very good manner wouldn't be a problem, but when users start to talk about the very same thing someone said the other day, in the very same manner it was said, then it becomes somewhat boring and redundant to say the least.

Having said that, I'd reiterate that no user has anything against you, but you don't need to make topics blowing the horns of "legendary/hero members" or telling newbies what to do which wouldn't take them quite long to figure out themselves, then like I said earlier, if you must make posts along that line, they should contain more information and be constructed in a HQ manner, not every thing deserves a new thread, I hope you get the message in the right manner.
4726  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pornhub now accepting Monero on: December 14, 2020, 06:15:17 AM
Stable coins are the most recommended for service payments.
I understand your sentiments, and you also have a point, Stable coins like USDT for example will prolly be better if the corporation is looking for stability to an extent, but in this case with Pornhub, I think privacy is their concern atm and not a coin with a stable network, and it's not so difficult to understand why they want to offer their customers some privacy looking at the service they offer, not a bad one, but not generally accepted by many; so I'm sure that's the reason Monero is being adopted by Pornhub.
There will be a massive acceptance for crypto in no time, bitcoin, monero, other altcoins. As in almost every possible accepted crypto. A huge volume would come in and demand for it.
We're already in a situation such as this, Bitcoin is now being adopted amongst traditional institutions that people thought wouldn't consider investing in a cryptocurrecy, not to talk of incorporating it as their reserve asset; as many altcoins that continue to work and develop their network, they are going to move high as well with Btc, since they all serve different purposes, some stable coins, others privacy coins, some used for low fees, etc, people can accept and use them all, as long as they don't turn into shady networks.
4727  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: December 13, 2020, 02:23:48 PM
Yesterday has been a very disappointing day for Chelsea, haven't lost a match that could have taken them to the top of the EPL table while they wait on the results from Crystal Palace Vs Tottenham today. I'm sure Mourinho has got some tricks to stay top with this game.
Too many people expected Chelsea to win easily against Everton, we all know why, Chelsea are in very good form, while Everton have lost the momentum with which they started the season with, but I knew the game wasn't going to be easy for the blues cause despite the fact that the team from the blue half of Merseyside have lost form, they still have quality players to pick up points against any team in the EPL.

Having said that, speaking about Jose Mourinho, I think he would have loved yesterday's results, from the derby draw, to Chelsea's loss, I'm sure he can't wait to capitalize on the slip ups of the other contenders, and I for one cannot see Crystal Palace stopping Spurs from getting all their three points, Spurs are slowly looking like real title contenders, if not favorites.
4728  Economy / Economics / Re: IF USDT would collapse what do you think will happen to the BTC price? on: December 13, 2020, 01:27:48 PM
Bitcoin being the speculative market that it is and how it is to a large extent an unpredictable network, I would not be surprised if it doesn't affect the price of Bitcoin too much, when covid-19 pandemic struck the world and the world economy, bringing it to a huge plunge, quite a lot of people expected and even predicted bitcoin to suffer that same fate, but it wasn't to be, bitcoin instead had a good year and is moving to cross it's ath.

Having said that, I know USDT prolly has more connection to Bitcoin than the traditional economics, but you cannot remove the factor of uncertainty in anything concerning the network, people using USDT should rather be careful, rather than bothering on what will happen to BTC price if it (usdt) collapses, as only them (holders of usdt) could feel the impact if anything along that lines happens.
4729  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: December 12, 2020, 09:03:20 PM
At the end of the day City worths like 10x more as well, they have a much better roster, they have a lot more money, they have a lot more experience together, basically they are all around a much much better team.
The difference between City and United isn't as high as you're making it seem, United have also spent money on acquiring players just as City have done, Manchester City might have spent more, but it's by a slim margin; and this is actually no excuse for either of the teams for their abysmal display today, they are both top teams, with top players and have equally spent a large sum of money between them, I'm sure football fans expected a better derby match and I for one was absolutely disappointed by the display today.
I would stick with Chelsea winning this one.
Half time and Everton are leading, a goal from the penalty spot scored by Sigurdsson, Chelsea do know how to come back from behind, so I'm not counting them out on this game yet, they could very well still take all three points.
4730  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: the most important thing in the development of a project? on: December 12, 2020, 08:06:23 AM
3. Products must be prioritized because the project has a goal on the product so this step must take precedence.
+1, the product/use case is the 'product' of a good project, a project that will likely fail will most likely have a reincarnated use case that's going to fail sooner rather that than later, or a useless one that's just coined from either plagiarism or a shady mindset just to scam investors whom the project piques their interest. Quite a number of investors have quit investing in the altcoins network for lack of a good and working product/use case of a large percentage of it's new projects and the incessant issues of scam. OP, I don't really know if the purpose of this thread is to educate project owners/creators on what to do, I'm also not trying to sound pessimistic, but if that's the aim, then you're more or less 'beating a dead horse'.
4731  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: December 11, 2020, 06:40:24 PM
Personally I don't think that they will start winning all their games magically after Ozil get in the boat but certainly they will play better than this in EPL. Actually in some teams I believe that the coach is not doing enough to stimulate the players.
Imo, it's the duty of the player to work hard and give the manager a reason to play him, I'm sure if Mesut Ozil was playing and Arsenal are having this bad run, fans will still find some other excuse to make and criticize the manager, Arsenal are in a bad run and Ozil is not going to change anything even if he gets on the pitch, the last games I watched Ozil play in an Arsenal jersey, I must say he wasn't impressive and if the manager decides to drop him, it's cause he doesn't think he has anything more to offer the team, the coach wouldn't stupidly bench a player that would change his teams fortune.
4 consecutive wins in the EPL for Man United I think it's been a tough week for the two Manchester who will face this week although Gunnar Solskjaer will be full of pressure if he loses maybe he will be sacked soon if it loses.
For sure there'll be a lot of pressure on OGS If he loses to pep tomorrow, but I don't think he'll be sacked by the United board if he loses this game, I believe United will give him the chance to finish this season before assessing the teams performances, plus trophies, before taking a decision, many times changing a manager mid-season doesn't change anything, though it gives the new gaffer the chance to get to know his players before the start of the other season.

...
I understand that you all are trying to give OP suggestions on how to make this merit giveaway easier and better, but from the looks of things, is there really any need for that, this topic has been opened for about four days now and surprisingly only two newbies have applied for the giveaway, it's pretty small and can mean a lot of things, from lack of interest, to only a handful of newbies with good and useful replies or maybe it's just that merit giveaways have lost the traction they used to have before.

Since op has quite a lot of sMerits to give (56), if there's still no interest in the coming days, he could just go in search of the newbies himself, not only newbies per se, but other ranks as well, and give out the merits to the posts he considers (as always it's subjective) constructive.
4735  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How beginners prepare surprises. on: December 10, 2020, 03:57:50 PM
I have had a bad experience, not very long ago. I and some other users in the forum usually like to send merit to a topic which is discussing about technical issue of a wallet or bitcoin. Like someone explained their problem and seeking for information. Somehow some users spotted this culture. The Other day one of the user copied an issue from Reddit and posted the same from Reddit. We sent merit to that posts and later one user discovered that was copy past from few years ago in Reddit LOL
I would not really call this a 'bad experience' per se, those sort of topics are usually very interesting and helpful, first cause it's highly educative and one gets to learn new things from users who are more tech savvy, and also cause we prolly may not really have the same problem at that same time, but could experience it later, then that thread could be helpful in solving the issue. With the issue of the merits which is why I know you called it a 'bad experience', it's not all that important, I'm sure it's just a couple, the users who plagiarize questions will be banned and the merits becomes useless, then those who ask only to gain merits would not get too far with just that 'tradition', so in other words genuine users should not be discouraged to ask questions regarding their wallets, bitcoin, etc, if they feel the need to.
4736  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Cash doomed to failure? on: December 10, 2020, 02:02:36 PM
Do you think constant forks will cause Bitcoin Cash to fail in the long run? Or will it stand strong like Bitcoin (BTC)?
I can't state categorically, no one can as well, if Bitcoin Cash is going to fail long term, but the thing is, I'm sure it's not going to be as strong as bitcoin, Btc is gradually developing into something close to a global market, Bitcoin cash on the other hand is not entirely useless as some people will suggest it is, it has its own uses and areas that quite a lot of traders and crypto users fancy in it, and that's good for the network, I don't own nor do I intend to own Bitcoin cash, plus I think they get a funny kind of promotion from Ver I must say, though it seems to be working, so if people find it good, then so be it.

Having said that, it's the same kind of situation with stable coins or the so-called privacy coins, they are somewhat centralized, risky, vulnerable to manipulations and I think they should not be held for the long term, but so many traders and users love to use this coins for some specific reasons, and so long as it serves them good, I really can't complain, what's necessary is to always take responsibility and make sure you're trading or investing wisely, cause one mistake can make you lose all your funds.
4737  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: December 09, 2020, 04:59:36 PM
The agony of Man United's supporters will conitinue as the date and time between the PSG and IBFK match still to be decided. Fans will have to wait another day before the verdict Grin Who knows if the team that cost them 3 valuable points before will save them this time.
Sorry but there's no saving Manchester United, they've been eliminated and will continue their European competition in the Europa league, notwithstanding the outcome of the postponed match between PSG and Istanbul baseksehir, the only thing PSG are playing for is to secure top spot, but the group has already been decided (Lepzig and PSG are through to the round of 16, Istanbul baseksehir eliminated, while United dropped to the Europa league).
And group C.
Olympique Marseille  after last week win has a chance for 3rd place and play in Europa League next spring, but they have to at least tie in Manchester against City(which is sure to win a group) ,
A part of me believes Marseille is going to win this match tonight or at least get a draw, City are through with top spot secured already and they have the derby on Saturday at the back of their mind, that will determine the quality of players they'll field today, while Marseille still has the Europa league to fight for, so there's more motivation for them to win or at least draw.
4738  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anyone interested in uncovering the truth about US election? on: December 09, 2020, 04:39:59 PM
I believe people still have rights to prove fraud even if election is over
Of course they do, especially in a country like the U.S., but that's if there was actually any electoral fraud to start with in the first place, apparently there seems to have been none, and just cause someone lost an election doesn't mean he must start accusing a system that has worked free and fairly for years of fraud.
Well, I strongly believe they will not succeed to legally remove the current President with the frauds
He has already been removed 'legally' cause elections are over and a new president elect has emerged, he has few weeks to prove it was an 'illegal' removal, and you and I know he's more or less only wasting everyone's time.
4739  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can 2FA be Hacked? on: December 09, 2020, 08:24:26 AM
Of course 2FA can be hacked, i know it's an extra layer of security, but every security protocol can be hacked, it makes it more difficult for your account to be hacked if you have 2FA enabled, but it doesn't make your account impregnable, if you make mistakes by clicking links with malwares, careless with your passwords or device etc, then your account is going to be hacked; it's the same for users that use hw wallets, your funds are only totally safe when you take responsibility and avoid every possible folly there is. Enabling 2FA is the first step, the next and most important is how to avoid mistakes that will still make your account penetrable to scammers.
If someone has recovered hacked account please reply with information.
First contact their support, though I don't think there's a way to recover the account since the phone number and email has been changed to that of the scammers, cause if they are to help you, every recovery details will be sent to the phone number or email which sadly is no longer yours, did the scammer also change your recovery email on the account? That's another option.
4740  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: For newbies when you are using new exchanges on: December 09, 2020, 06:15:17 AM
Quite a lot of users have deposited funds into scam exchanges and lost their funds to scammers, the thing is, there is actually no need to test out every new exchange that you see, and even if you want to, play around/test this exchange with a very small amount of money, so if the exchange is eventually a scam, you'll more or less lose nothing. Having said that, if the coins you want to trade is only listed on a small or new exchange, make sure you always pull out your funds the moment you're done; and if an exchange mandates you to deposit X amount to be able to use their platform, do not send/trust, verify, it'll most times likely be a scam one.

Mind you also that it's not only on new exchanges funds could be lost, the reputable ones have been hacked at one time or the other, so why store your coins there, you'll only lose them when the next hack happens, "it's not your keys, it's definitely not your coins".
