I'd have though that half a dozen legendaries running a crypto discussion board would be an interesting experiment. As long as they are broadly in agreement about politics and crypto, it could be quite an interesting board to read. Keep the ICOs, bounty and announcements away from it, and it could be a nice clean board.

So true. Sometimes i feeled I haven't been posted what I actually want to express due to language barrier. However I'm trying my best to learn English everyday and I have learned lot by reading threads made by top English posters. When I reading a thread(especially serious discussion board) I used a online dictionary to find out English terms which not oftenly used in our society.
We'd love to help you with your posting on Fit to Talk English. You can tell us about sea turtles, and tea of course.

I don't know what you are trying to say because that big red lettering is far harder to read quickly, than a proper post. I've put you on ignore as well.

Name dropped twice in as many days lol. LoyceVtalk.org for the win ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) I wanted a click bait title. I thought of TMAN tea room, but that didn't seem right, Vod's vault sounded like a prison, and I gave up completely with The Pharmacist. I quite liked Welsh RareBits, but I wondered if that would have international appeal. Probably due to a lack of reporting that the lack of moderation. Judging by the section it doesn't need to have a dedicated moderator like other sections in the forum. I don't think there's too much of an issue there personally.
It's the infrequency of posts, and the fact that newbies and juniors can't post there that reduces activity. I hoped to create something that had a more general appeal.

The big difference would be the ability to ban bad posters from the board. I believe that would do a lot to reduce spam there. Especially if bounty managers made it a requirement to make at least one post per month on the board.

We have our own board and staff members are also allowed to participate there. However, it is quite lonely.
Well if there is any interest, then I can see what features I can add to make my chatroom more productive. It uses the free version of blab, and there is a paid version that is available for a one off fee of $35 http://justblab.com/blab-plus-pro-ajax-chatI don't want to pay that if nobody is going to use it though.

There are about 10 membersof the chat room, and they are based in a variety of countries. Messages get left, and get replies even if nobody else is logged in. Part of the proble could be that when two or three members are logged in at the same time, then the chat can be quite fast paced, and posts can get lost. If there was more interest, I could expand the options, but it was really just set up to chat about the awarding of merits.
The problem with Ivory Tower and Serious discussion seems to be that they aren't moderated, and that the restrictions cut down on the number of posts and posters. I think that a board that is open to verybody from newbie to staff, and has all the usual privileges would be popular. The fact that the bouncers could block posters who fail to follow the rules and guidelines should help to keep out the spammers and low value posters.

|
How about having a clubroom here that is run by half a dozen senior members. Everybody is free to join, and all the normal board privileges apply ( sigs, merits, activity etc. ). The topics can be whatever the 'bouncers' allow, and they have the ability to delete posts and threads on that board. They also have the ability to block posters if they breach the clubroom rules.
Of course global mods and admins would still have ultimate control.

Why would I want any merits - I'm a merit source?
I'm trying to stimulate some sensible discussions on this board, instead of the TwitBook and ICO threads that shouldn't be here, and that stop the better members from receiving merits.

You should know by now that I'm looking for original posts, and considered opinions. I very nearly put you on ignore for just copying that article without any constructive comment.

We are starting to see reports that mobile users may be able to run lightweight nodes on mobile devices. Discuss this possibility, and the advantages and disadvantages if they do become generally available.

What's the next one after leet then?

I think I was only accepted due to the amount of merits I received just before my merit application. I don't know if that would of been the case if I didn't have that.
Well I didn't apply, but I did receive quite a few points in the initial phase, and I tried to pass them on to post that I considered to be good and helpful. I think the fact that I have never taken part in a bounty programme may have been another factor in my being appointed.

I'd ban everybody who psted in thisTwiBook thread on the begginers board. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3178331.0While members continue supporting these threads posted on the wrong boards, you won't see any imovement in overall forum quality.

Well I posted that "Vod ate my hampster". Should I add that to his trust? If so. Is that positive or negative?
|
|
|
I award meits to posts that I like, and that I think contribute to the forum. I can't see why anyone would feel comfortable with a different policy.
Moving on - Wouldn't it be useful if I could delegate some sMerits to members like pugman, and then the admins could review the way he handles those to help them to decide on new appointments?
|

This could be because merit abusers are becoming more sophisticated. Ten awards of 5 merits is still an award of 50, but it may not be as obvious,
|
|
|
I'm still playing with my domain names, and I added a cooment about the Vulpine Order of Merit on my embryonic site - Foxy Talk You can see the paragraph here - Vulpine Order of Merits at Foxy TalkI'll expand on that as I sort out all these domains. Let me know if you want me to put anything specific on there. I'll probably add a descriptive page with a link back some time soon.

That would only be effective if there was a guest ignore feature. Most threads seem to have 10 times as many views as posts. and this ratio increases with time, and one wonders how many of those views are by non-members. One should also remember that when a member changes his signature, that changes the signature in all his historic posts. I suspect that bumping those old threads will also update the Google entries for the posters. The real benefit would come if Google didn't list ignored member's posts.

Well I could give 50 merits to a post, but I can't conceive of one that is worth that much. I've only found half a dozen that I've awarded with 5. I think I gave 10 to seoinc, but that was for him to make some awards in the Spanish community.
What post would be worth 50 merits?
Well, administrators should begin an algorithm for demeriting posts that have been overrated, it's a decentralized ecosystem after all. If we continue this way, we just might sink into the abyss of horror. demeriting is a bit of a rocky road, and could cause even more abuse. A simple alternative is to remove any merit associated with a post deleted by a mod or the original poster.
