Is it done, yet? I forgot to change my address on other magazine subscriptions and am too cheap to pay the USPS $1 "for verification purposes" to forward my mail. All I have to do while defecating is reading the ingredients of Febreeze ("fragrance," water, "deodorizer," "natural propellant" -- what a useful list) and raging against deodorant manufacturers for putting QR codes on the container. I'm going mad, man!

Everything is under control, so don't panic. Tell it to the kernel. Hur hur hur. ... Panic, fatal, death. OS error text outputs seem a bit over-dramatic.

Sounds super reliable...
*edit* btw, Ponzis usually say they're full to make you trust them more, it's a common hallmark of the scam. There is no way they're actually paying 1% to people per day. That would make zero sense for them. Don't fall for it.
*re-edit* The right way to do what you're talking about is to get a high-yield CD and borrow at a low rate against property, and play the difference between a loan and a locked-in interest rate over the long term. No one legitimate offers compounded interest daily or weekly like what you're talking about. That is always, always a red flag for a scam. You'd be a lot better off just putting your life's savings on Roulette (which as a casino owner, I wouldn't recommend either).
Heh, shows how much you know about pirate's system. I apparently know nothing... Do you know what he actually does? I'm sure he would give you more details if you needed them, but it is basically selling bitcoins for cash in person, and for those transactions he needs a lot of coin in a short amount of time. Obviously the sale is at a decent markup, because he then buys coin at an exchange to repay the lenders, and gives them their interest. As far as I can work out, it isn't a continuous interest system, although if it is, that would be due to trading profits. Also, good luck getting an invite, you might have better luck asking on IRC (maybe). He does not give potential investors details. Nobody I know who deals with him knows, either. They "have ideas," though. (edit: that was just fwiw. Pirate's paid out everyone as requested, afaik, and it's gone on long enough where I'm not very worried about it anymore, and wouldn't mind getting in on it when I have coins again. - Though the "if you take out BTC on loan, don't tell anyone you're giving it to me" clause pisses me off.)

How hard would it be to create and print, with the press of one button, a unique QR address for each customer tied to the restaurant's wallet? The few techno-impaired folks like myself who have no use for QR codes (especially not on my deodorant...) could be given the dirty backup address.

We ended up agreeing on an exchange rate where total price came to ~$800 (4.2*190) when paid. 800/6=$133/ea. $114.55+44.06 (shipping outside the EU) = $158.61 (likely more around the price imsa paid assuming he'll bundle the cards in one shipment)
Outside the EU, I agree, not as good a deal. Just thought it was worth a shot for 5 BTC. Out of curiosity, price on the motherboard/CPU combo? Idunno. ... $20 per MoBo, $20 per CPU (I actually have three of the MoBos & CPUs, three PSUs, just two leftover sticks of DDR2 RAM), $10 per stick of RAM, $25 per PSU unit. + shipping. Have some HDDs of various low volumes and are likely to fail within the next few years, if there's any interest (could be included free if someone purchases a "set"). Wireless N dongles somewhere, too. Cheap-o KVM switch which works well, 4 outputs, 2 USB-in ports (for keyboard, mouse), 2-port audio, VGA-adapter only, if any interest. Few now-unused routers (one wireless N, one wired, both 4-port) somewhere I'll probably sell in a few months (I'd have to dig them out of the garage -- recently moved) unless someone really wants.

If miners really quit mining after price drops (which I still don't think is nearly as strong a correlation as many've said), then I'd assume GPUMax's extremely generous PPS rate has attracted the additional miners.

A state-issued ID card in the US (doesn't have to be a driver's license) is ID. AFAIK, the new terms had to be forced on everyone due to concerns they'd be in trouble with governments which enforce "AML" (anti-money-laundering) regulations.
Fwiw -- not passing judgment either way. Sorry to hear you're having troubles with them. They usually reply fairly promptly here -- hope everything works out.

Successful transaction -- closing tonight. Rest of components will be listed on Bitmit whenever I figure out where the digital camera went. Thanks, imsaguy!

I was walking by a B & N today and was thinking of how much I am looking forward to picking up a physician copy!
Which reminds me... I know you guys are putting out an ad-free copy for certain organizations, but would y'all consider an ad-only magazine some time later? Just load it up with full-page ads. Maybe only send it to people who opt-in? Love reading through those U-LINE catalogs. (only half-joking)

Whether "man-made climate change" is "real" or not is actually a moot point. "Saving the environment" is to me essentially moving backwards and that is the stuff of hippies ... :::shudder... hippies:::
Forward-thinking includes EXTREME forward-thinking... beyond humanity. Humanity does not need to be made extinct (like the hippies would likely believe) ... it just needs to be made BETTER, to ADAPT to the environment it finds itself in. Is that not evolution??
The answer to this "conundrum" is simple to me -- we must change ourselves. Transhumanism. We may make humans extinct... but we may in the process create something far superior. Wouldn't it be nice to not need to breathe?
