4761  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Turning old smartphones into miners ? on: July 18, 2019, 02:58:34 AM
it does not look like any one has tried it for lots of coin. I also dont think many of these phones has strong hardware that can handle mining, what of the low battery capacity of those phones?
I'd tried it back when coinhive is a thing (for testing purposes), so I'm talking about Monero.

I used one Samsung S4 (about <10h/s) device to calculate if 10 or more can produce a decent amount of profit... and the result was like everyone is saying: it's a waste of time and mobile phones if you're planning to use your own devices because charger's pulling more power than the hashrate.
Those "mobile miners" aren't really designed for "personal" mining but for the so-called "advertisement-substitute" or botnets (hundred or thousand devices that you don't supply power and own will do Tongue).

So @Flyingterlik forget it.

Edit;
Btw I know it's not "worth" it to mine and that its cheaper to buy (heck even faucets pay more than what I theoretically can mine) but I just love the idea of making old useless phones do something :p
Why don't you just sell them?
4762  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there any way to see what your post looks like before posting? on: July 18, 2019, 02:24:27 AM
I tried to get the actual image link from that banner for you but it turns out that it's not directly linked but encrypted from the server to prevent unwanted downloads.
Also, the "Legi** challenge your peers - win D**" text wasn't written to the image (shoes), it's an overlay.

Just do this instead (! if canva allowed you to !):
  • Open the banner in full screen, then "print screen" (W10:Print Screen/W7 or others:Ctrl+PrintScreen)
  • For W10: Go to the Screenshot folder, usually under Photo Folder.
  • For W7: Get any random image and edit it using Windows Paint, then Press CTRL+V to paste the copied (CTRL+PrtScreen) image, save.
  • Upload it to imgur or any image sharing site, and get the direct URL that ends with an extension.
  • You can now post it to your thread.

BTW, for the OP (and other newbies), after pressing "preview" and saw that the texts are in the right format (excluding the images) you can just proceed and post it.
Now visit your profile page and click "Show the last post of this person" and your post should show like you're a Jr.Member+ with the images displayed (just in that page / given that you've linked the right format).

You're a copper member now, this wont make a difference now.
4763  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is going here someone can explain to me pls guys on: July 18, 2019, 01:48:40 AM
I think what OP is trying to say is the following:

in places like reddit, if you try to promote BSV or USDT for example, the mods will not allow you to do that and will ask you to fuck-off.

OP is implying that bitcointalk staff should do the same thing, he wants the few mods we have here to monitor every single topic/post that promotes shitcoins.

OP i hope this is what you are trying to say !
-snip-
If that's the case, it isn't about "freedom of speech" but because of the admin and moderator's decision regarding scams.
Here's the FAQ in the Unofficial Rules, Guidelines and FAQs:
19. Possible (or real) scams and Trust ratings are not moderated (to prevent moderation abuse).
~
Possible (or real, not for me to decide) scams are not moderated to prevent moderator abuse. If we start picking out which ones we call "scammers" and ban, we would make a lot of decisions based on biased opinions.

@Pingip Our "DT" (members in the Default Trust Lv2-1) are the ones who's doing those jobs, not the Mods.
The 2nd quote above states their reason for not doing so.

You can reach them by posting a scam accusation against BSV and others in this board: Bitcoin Forum > Economy > Trading Discussion > Scam Accusations
That's how it works here.
4764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Are core wallets programmed to freeze??? on: July 17, 2019, 06:26:59 AM
Since you're talking about Sprouts coin's full node (and been following their [ANN] thread), there's nothing we can add but "it's a bug" or hardware issues.

I just want to mention this, have you already excluded the node to your Antivirus and Firewall?
Because this message isn't clear if you need to "register in the whitelist" of their network or your "security software" aka Antivirus/Firewall:
* It is recommended to register in the whitelist because it will depending on security software.

And the whole team and supporters consist of anime & cartoon characters, a neko~chan and two no-image~san:
Looks promising! No wonder bugs aren't fixed.
4765  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Could somebody please send me a Celsius Network apk file that work? on: July 17, 2019, 05:54:13 AM
If is strange that Celsius Network asked me for their latest version of their app when I tried to withdraw my bitcoin. I am already using a 3.0 something wallet.
If it isn't v3.1.0, it will not work. The latest update was on June 21.

However, TryNinja's 2nd link above was linked to v2.6.
Just use his 1st link and press "request update" then generate download link, it will be updated to the latest version (I've already requested, so the search will be short).
4766  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [HELP] Spend Bitcoin on Deterministic wallet [Particular Address only] on: July 17, 2019, 02:58:30 AM
If you're planning not to spend from A1 and A2 for the long term, just "Freeze" address 1 and address 2 (address tab)
You can also Freeze specific inputs in the Coins tab using Electrum v3.3.5+,
then proceed to the Send tab.

It will automatically select Address 3's input(s) as long as there aren't any other addresses with available inputs.
4767  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Any way to import private key of a MultiSig wallet? on: July 17, 2019, 02:27:31 AM
That's because it's one of the basic keyboard shortcut for selection that's supported by most Operating systems and apps.

@Royse777 This might come in handy:
  • CTRL+LeftClick  = Multi-select One by one.
  • SHIFT+LeftClick = Select The first one and everything in between the next selection.

You can even try SHIFT+Click with this page's texts (Highlight=selection).
And CTRL+Click on any of the icons on your desktop (Windows).
4768  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Unrecovered treasure lost on: July 16, 2019, 12:43:37 PM
This was old times...
Nowadays everyone has your wallet backed up by the mnemonic phrase, (24 words), which is a seed with all privatekeys.

You can save it on a paper, no need to save the wallet.dat anymore (unless you want to)
With Electrum and most light clients, yes but...
not with BitcoinCore/qt client, you still need to backup the wallet.dat somewhere else as a fail-safe.
It's possible by exporting the master private key (xprv), but it isn't doable by your regular Joe.

So we can say "majority" not "everyone" Smiley
4769  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How will Minors survive when all BitCoins are Mined? on: July 16, 2019, 07:52:19 AM
Are you saying out of 12.5 bitcoins mined that 0.71486 is for fees? -snip-
That's just a "quick look", we need to consider many things and possible future layers like Lightning Network to be more realistic.

It may (IMO, it will) be lower than today's transaction fee earning due to the fact that if Bitcoin's price grow beyond "high", developers and users might lower the minimum fee to a fraction of a satoshi or/and lower the maximum as well.
Another one is if LN become mainstream, there will be fewer on-chain transactions than we're experiencing today that will generally lower the fee earnings of miners.

It's too early to discuss that though.
4770  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Noob alarm!!! How to install now electrum??? on: July 16, 2019, 05:20:53 AM
Please make it clearer, are you really trying to install or verify Electrum?

If you're having trouble installing Electrum, verifying the signature won't fix it (though it's advisable for security purposes).
Or Did you mean "How to verify Electrum"?
4771  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: what number is the transaction ID # on: July 16, 2019, 03:43:34 AM
If it is Bitcoin Core:
It's the random (1-0, a-f) characters next to "Transaction ID:", above "Transaction total size" and below "Credit" and "Net Amount".

If it is Electrum:
It's the one on the top-most part labeled "Transaction ID".
4772  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: BTC is missing from Blockchain.info wallet on: July 16, 2019, 03:12:24 AM
There are indeed other reports but most of them are victims of scam where the culprit offers cheap or free accounts with balance;
but the wallet is watch-only and only him can spend it.
Others are cases of lost old version wallets.

By any chance,
[1] Haven't you created that wallet yourself?
[2] Have you exported some or that particular address' private key before?
[3] Did you stored the 12/24-word SEED somewhere vulnerable (Cloud storage/Email/etc)?
Because those are the most possible reasons if we take malware and hacks into account.

Another problem is, if it was their fault, they wont be able to help you with it because the new version of blockchain.com wallet's private keys are only available for the user and not their server (as they said):
When you sign up for a Blockchain Wallet, you’re creating an encrypted file that contains the information you will use to access your funds: your seed (backup phrase), private keys, and cryptocurrency addresses. The file is encrypted with your password, which we never store or have access to
4773  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: BTC is missing from Blockchain.info wallet on: July 16, 2019, 02:01:52 AM
With those limited info, it's kinda hard to tell.
I could be a phishing site, compromised wallet/account, watch-only wallet, malicious browser extension and other "common" scams.

We need more information about the wallet, how you've created it and the actual URL of the website that you're visiting.
4774  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is Orphaned Block? How can I recover my coins if I end up in Orphaned Block? on: July 15, 2019, 06:32:34 AM
Your coins won't end up in an orphan block, your unconfirmed transaction(s) may.

But since you've already read about it, I'll just state the obvious~ish:
Since it's an orphaned block, most nodes will reject it and your wallet won't see it as "received" (1 confirmation) thus: (given that your node/server rejected it) you won't notice that your unconfirmed tx was included unless you search for orphaned blocks and the tx in it manually.
Your unconfirmed TX will stay in the nodes and mining node's mempool as long as it wasn't included in a valid block waiting for confirmation.

Also, today's usual orphaned blocks are almost the exact copy of the valid block with few differences in number of transactions and your tx in the orphaned block might be included to the valid block as well.

Check your balances' available inputs (TXID) if they have 6+ confirmations (if it didn't have, it already had more than thousand confirmation);
if it is, your coins are safe from this "issue" as it can only affect the latest block(s).
4775  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Import address From Cash App to Blockchain wallet. Result Non-spendable fund on: July 15, 2019, 06:00:22 AM
You might need to read what I've said above: post #4

There's no way you can use the balance in blockchain.com's wallet because you created it by importing the address which anyone can do.
The only way to recover your funds is to contact this "Cash App" to credit your previous deposit.
Just make sure that you're using the real Cash App because phishing scams and fake wallets are common these days.

BTW, Have you seen their rating?: https://www.trustpilot.com/review/cash.app

You can also post a scam accusation to Cash App if they didn't respond after a week or two: Scam Accusations
4776  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Check out my custom built **Denarius** crypto room! on: July 15, 2019, 03:50:47 AM
Since you're now a Jr. member, you can now post the images to this thread so we can directly view it.

But wait, you have the wallet laying in the same room?
That's kinda risky, if the room got robbed, your wallet will be taken too and your passphrase could be bruteforced.
If possible, use a "watch-only" wallet and keep the spendable one in a more secure device/PC.

Anyways, that's a very well designed room, far better than the usual "dusty-cluttered" room I'm always seeing.
4777  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Large Transaction Displayed Fees on: July 15, 2019, 03:10:19 AM
I copied the output values directly from the raw hex and got these:
.
  • 84 x 0.10239329btc = 8.60103636btc
  • 20 x 0.20473754btc = 4.0947508btc
  • 6 x 0.40947508btc = 2.45685048btc
  • 4 x 0.81895016btc = 3.27580064btc
  • 3 x 1.63790032btc = 4.91370096btc
  • 3 x 3.27580064btc = 9.82740192btc
  • 2 x 6.55160128btc = 13.10320256btc
  • and more outputs of different value.

4778  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Download electrum first time how to sure real or fake it. on: July 15, 2019, 02:33:21 AM
It worth mentioning that some browsers save that file as *.asc.txt and the user may have to correct it by hand. And for that Windoze Explorer has to be set to properly show the file extensions or another file manager has to be used.
@Negotiation If this was the case, just open "Folder Options" (Start menu->Search->Folder Options);
Click on the "View" tab, scroll-down a little then find and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types".

That'll display files extensions like (.txt) and others.
4779  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Import address From Cash App to Blockchain wallet. Result Non-spendable fund on: July 14, 2019, 02:29:16 PM
For issue no1:
You've created a "watch-only" wallet by importing the address instead of the private keys (but as Adolf said, Cash app doesn't allow users to have access to their deposit address' private key).
Think of it, if it's possible to spend Bitcoins by importing addresses, everyone's Bitcoins can be stolen.

Just do as he instructed but you have to reach the minimum withdrawal amount to do so.

For issue no2:
Contact the wallet's developer and users in the wallet's official thread: Coinomi Universal HD Wallet.
But it's been inactive for a while.
4780  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: paper wallet was stolen on: July 13, 2019, 03:57:04 AM
I believe the attacker got your private keys few days after you put your computer back online. He was probably monitoring your address, waiting for you to put more money there.
OP wiped his computer, that should be enough to remove all traces of private keys. I still prefer a Linux LIVE DVD though, running from memory to ensure nothing ever ends up on a hard drive.
..And less hassle of zero-fill~ing the disk for paranoids Cheesy (+ reinstalling OS and drivers takes time).

He must have browsed to the webpage then cut down the connection.
His supposedly randomly generated private key wasn't random at all but pre-generated key from an image file and can be reproduced by the culprit.
So even if he's offline the whole time (after loading the page), they can regenerate the possible key based from the malicious page's provided image.

This wont happen if he used the original code from Github.
