What do you think? Is this finally it guys. Have we finally found support? This pattern doesn't quite match anything we have seen yet in this down trend.

We've now broken the pattern... But is it just one big buyer and then we resume the float towards or actual trend reversal.  Our volume will help tell that story I think.

But with folks Max Kaiser waking up to monero is just a matter of time before...

I think Setting some buy orders at 0.01 btc will be wise decision if you are bag holding XMR which you have bought at very high price like i have done to minimize the loss even if price bounce back again to 0.02 or near to that level.

What you are feeling right now is common. Probably everyone here has felt it.  If you believe as I do that monero fundamentally has the potential to be kind of a big deal then in the future your entry at what now looks like the top will be a decision you are very proud of.

For what is worth there is still a reasonable chance that we've seen the all time high...  Monero could be an experiment that has run it's course. But to me it is hard at this point to even type that sentence.  Load up as much as you think it's worth.. As much as you are comfortable with... but don't beat yourself up too much for buying monero in the fall of 2016.  If you are convinced as I am just let 2018 be the judge of that.  Though I think we will all be seeing good things well in advance of then.

Yes. I believe the success of XMR depends on its acceptance. Since the acceptance is decreasing and the price is falling for days, i go for short.

In my opinion this is an extremely dangerous time to go short.. but you might look like a genius in a couple weeks... who knows?

Trying to sync monero on linux ubuntu 16.04 and I'm getting so many problems.
I did it normally, started ./bitmonerod and got first 300k blocks nice and reliatively fast. I come back the next day and it's on 320k?
so i wait 3 more days, 380k. something isn't right.

Downloaded the boot strap (took less than 5mins on high speed VPS) and follow instructions blockchain_import
I tried
 ./blockchain_import --database lmdb#nosync --verify 0 --input-file ~/blockchain.raw
 ./blockchain_import --database lmdb#nosync --verify=0 --input-file ~/xmr/blockchain.raw
 ./blockchain_import --verify 0 --input-file ~/xmr/blockchain.raw
 ./blockchain_import --input-file ~/xmr/blockchain.raw

You name it I tried around 10 different combos of those commands and each and every one failed. The "database" command was the fastest, but the last block would not be existent or corrupt and wouldn't allow the daemon to function. Massive PITA.

The rest of them would get to 200-350k blocks and simply start hogging resources and STILL not move anywhere in regard to progress. And then, not even being able to exit blockchain_import or bitmonerod (which ever one I was using and trying to sync with).

does anyone know the fastest way to sync on ubuntu 16.04. This is extremely frustrating.

I just did it from scratch on my Arch Linux laptop.  It took ~4 hours to sync.

Is your internet speed decent and reliable?  Ate you using any sorry of firewall?  The monero client is a distributed network like bit torrent.  You'll need multiple connections...

I am sorry but I still don't understand why you want a pool of your own. How much hashrate do you have?

Backstory - Already offered to help him but he wants a pool running on windows. No such thing, right? Tongue

Good luck bud. Tried. sorry! Tongue
some will solo mine to their own pool to have more options in terms of miners.

I didn't mean you and it's OK to feel defensive. No one should feel defensive. You know you have contributed a lot to Monero in terms of this thread, so there is nothing to feel guilty about and hey if some moron wants to be taken advantage of, then you should help them, right? I am not sure but I think you have contributed to the development of Monero in terms of contributing to the codebase, helping newcomers, donating to the development, bringing awareness etc etc. You probably have shined the most in terms of helping noobs not lose their money by giving free trading advice, posting charts and telling this thread what needs to be done in terms of trading. I don't know why the entire thread is not saying they are indebted to you forever.

You know XMR didn't have to rise by 500%, if *that* is the reason that there "needs" to be a correction. Plenty of scamcoins didn't have any reason to but with the rise in prices by a disciplined community they were able to attract developers, marketeers and a thriving community while Monero was busy staying in the gutter. At that time no one was here to help the newbies  Cry

I don't think you'll find many times I've given trading advice.  I do occasionally post my own speculations.  My current insight is I think monero may be finishing a textbook Elliott wave cycle.  It looks to me like were at the end of the "c" wave.  Up or down next, I dunno.

The last spot I picked to push my play money back in was frankly dismal and I am stuck like 15%.  If you scroll up enough you'll see where I did it.

I'm vaguely sorry that you seem to think I'm some kind of greedy con artist, but not all that terribly sorry.  You can think what you like. Its a free internet.

And please don't mistake that for defensiveness... I have nothing to defend.

I do believe that monero is going to be the next bitcoin.

I wonder whether that is bearish or bullish. Can you elaborate?

lol /thread

Looks like 0.016 is being defended well. Don't see .015 re-entry especially with all the news coming out of everywhere. Ideally the new floor from this whole DNM run should have been 0.02 to give XMR a lot more visibility and welcoming merchants, but this coin has attracted more greedy regulars than any coin I have seen in my time in Bitcointalk.

Like Adam Sandler said "What is wrong with you people"?  Lips sealed

Who exactly are you accusing?  Markets market.  We would rather have that than the opposite.  Greedy regulars are not causing this correction.  >500℅ rise over a few weeks is.

5 min ago a 233btc buy of a sell wall Grin Cool

Exciting isn't it.  I sure think so.

Price of the excitement is currently at $15,000.

It has the potential to become much more costly than that I would say.  But that is the way this game is played is it not?

OK. It is about time to take my play money off the sidelines and shovel it in. Can't win without trying. I like that the swing trading over the last couple weeks has been lucky enough for me to replace all the Bitcoin I used to invest in Monero for my crypto nest egg. But without risk there are not great rewards. Soon now we should see a pretty large move one way or the other in my humble opinion.

4776  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 10, 2016, 09:09:37 AM
Coiling up for decision time. We have 20 hours max looks like before it breaks one way or the other.

One of the finest descriptions I've read.

I sense were about the same age...  Or close.  We've lived long enough to see the definition of the word racism mutate a lot.

Bears tamp down irrational exuberance with TA, while bulls just keep building on fundamentals.

I agree that right now the wild card is the fundamentals here.  In fact it has been from the beginning.  In fact it's more than a wild card.  It's a trump card.  But those very fundamentals have brought us enough volume to actually be able to see some classic market patterns forming.  And ignoring at least basic TA could be quite costly.

Of course the ideal of buy and hold trumps all TA in the end.  It is what I am doing with my core holding.  I have X amount that I will not drop under.  Not for a long time at least.

And I am not generally a "trader".  But I see some fairly plain opportunities.  And at the moment I am still waiting for a little more drop to get my "play money" back in.  It ends up win/win/win for me because:

1.  Monero just keeps going up.  I win.
2.  Monero goes down to below .0176.  At this point I get back in with the play money and cross fingers.  I have more Monero again! I win.
3.  Monero suffers some sort of disaster with it's "DAO" oh wait.. we don't have one of those things.  Or Masternodes get compromised... oh wait... wrong again.  Well I guess Poloniex could Gox us.  That's about it.  But then I go ALL in with my play money and thank the stars because that will make Monero as cheap as it ever can be.

I remember when bitcoin  was ~$2-3 for a very very long time.  I didn;t buy a single one.  I won a shit ton of them playing poker, but bought none.

I'm done making that mistake.  It's amazing we are getting to do this again.

Looks like we lost posts.  I made a decent one IMHO that is now gone.
