I thought that setting the "Pay Transaction Fee" number would be enough. Is there something else that I need to do? I set it to .02 coins per transaction, figured I'd be generous. Never again.

Post your transaction IDs.

How can I find them?
bitcoind listtransactions
4762  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Overclocking Radeon HD 5830 on: May 29, 2011, 03:42:17 PM
I have mine at 965/175.  They are XFX cards.  They've been running at that clock speed for a couple of weeks now, no issues.

I get 288M hashes with Agression = 11.

Im new at this, can someone explain the flags for me?

-v
(aggression=11)
-w128 (256)

Sorry in advanced for the newb questions:)
-v means vectors
-w means worksize

you should include a picture of the certificate of authenticity, with the serial blurred out.

Torrented. Go away

Fine, its torrented, oh well.
epic fail

4767  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The CIA made a statement about bitcoin today on: May 29, 2011, 12:26:04 AM
Ohh come on.. I think a popular conspiracy theory is right...

CIA (or some department in US intelligence community) is Satoshi Nakamoto. They've mined by now 2-3 million bitcoins for themselves.

Someone must have seen the writing on the wall street and as a true patriot found a way to serve the country and secure CIA budget for coming years of turmoil at the same time. Tor was a little experiment that went well... than they've released bitcoin into the wild. Simple!

I've asked Gavin to report back to us if he hears giggling from backbenches during his presentation in CIA. This would confirm and validate this conspiracy theory.
gavin is a puppet of the CIA!

OC without voltage, CANNOT damage my card?? ARE YOU ABSOLUTELY SURE??
changing the clock cannot directly damage your GPU (unlike overvolting), although the extra heat may damage it. just start up a miner, and increase the core clock until it crashes, take your last clock, decrease by 10 mhz, and that  should give you a stable clock. If you're concerned about heat, just put fan to max, and overclock until the heat is higher than 80 C
4769  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What do you think? FAN RPM 2x5830's (w/ pics of setup) on: May 28, 2011, 11:43:15 PM
Sorry - I'm not saying anything more as I don't wanna be blamed for damaged cards. Read the mining board about overclocking and underclocking before doing anything else

No worries, I appreciate your help though Wink
just underclock until you get the best hash rate, and overclock until it crashes Tongue
4770  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Overclocking Radeon HD 5830 on: May 28, 2011, 11:36:31 PM
I did end up switching to Afterburner as suggested. But now the second card crashes in poclbm when running overclocked because Afterburner will not let me adjust my voltage at all. It is greyed out. Any idea how to work around this? Originally, I couldn't even adjust my clock speed past 875 MHz until I did the EULA trick in the config file. Is there a similar trick for voltage?
only trixx can modify voltages Sad
4771  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 0/unconfirmed for over a day on: May 28, 2011, 11:35:56 PM
Are my coins lost? Will this continue forever? If so, bitcoins are essentially useless to me. Why even bother with transactions which might not arrive for a week?
no, they're still there.

consider this: you're sending bitcoins for free, and it costs money for all the nodes to process that transaction, pretty good deal, right? now look at paypal. sure, it's instant, but you have to pay 1-2% + $0.30 fee.
4772  Other / Meta / Re: Mining section divided on: May 28, 2011, 11:19:29 PM
i really want to get all of the noobs out of the mining forum ("OMG I'M ONLY MAKING 0.7 BTC A DAY!?!?!?!", "HOW TO MINE?", "I'M USING GENERATE COIN, BUT I DON'T HAS ANY YET"). maybe a "technical support" subforum for mining?
4773  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Would anyone want a pool hopping program? on: May 28, 2011, 11:14:54 PM
come to think of it, it would be a really bad idea if i released it. pool hopping relies on the fact that other people will still mine, and won't jump out. if everybody was pool hopping, then all pools will be stuck at 40%. sorry guys, i guess i will have to be greedy, and keep my programs private.
4774  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Did I wreck my 5850? on: May 28, 2011, 11:12:31 PM
I have an Sapphire 5850 Extreme, and im afraid about overclocking, so im running default. (725)

What the BEST option to OC my card, WITHOUT any problem (of course, i dont wanna touch voltages)

Temperature? Mhz ??

Thanks
i can get 1000 core with stock voltage.

Im glad for you (really), but im not asking for that, probably get 1000 is not very safe, i just want OC but, in a very safe range

4775  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Would anyone want a pool hopping program? on: May 28, 2011, 10:28:55 PM
I'd rather see a pushpool implementation, so you would point your own miners to a locally operated pool that does all the "magic" for you. To the pools itself you would just look like a normal (single) miner.

This also has the advantage that you could then even distribute work between pools and keep some minimal hash rate running all the time. Also you could then offer this "metapool" to others, creating the ultimate automatic pool hopping tool!
The only reason why i wouldn't want to do that is because pools may crack down on pool hopping. Sad
4776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What do you think? FAN RPM 2x5830's (w/ pics of setup) on: May 28, 2011, 10:27:14 PM
I personally keep fans at 100% all the time, but what helps lowering temperatures the most is lowering memory clock to ~300MHz. You can do it with MSI Afterburner. Read more about it on the Mining board

What does the memory clock do exactly? Im techy, but never messed with gpus before. Also, wouldn't that effect my hash rate?
hashing doesn't use memory
4777  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Are bitcoin addresses a limited resource? on: May 28, 2011, 10:26:41 PM
There are 2160 possible addresses, which is a ridiculous number. If every person on Earth makes ten addresses per second for 20 years (2x1018 total addresses), then the probability that at least two of these addresses collide is about 1.57x10-12.
There are a lot of address, it's true. But difficulty of generating one address is the same as calculating one hash. What if somebody starts to generate address using OpenCL with speed of 4 Ghashes? This guy can get 345600000000000 of addresses every day. 63072*1012 per year...

This is relatively slow, but remember - address is a limited resource. What if there are 1000000 people? What if in 10 years we can calculate 10 Thashes/sec easily?

they'll make more money by mining.

What about score based rewards ?
i would guess it would be profitable to hop over to a score based pool, once around 40% has been reached.
What about delayed statistics ?
there are plenty of proportional pools with realtime stats.
