4781  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CZ Announced plan to Liquidate FTT of FXT. Your take on this on: November 07, 2022, 01:22:09 PM
I think if I were holding any FTT at this point I would definitely follow the leader with Binance and liquidate my holdings. FTX may very well be solvent and there might not be any problems at all. However, after the recent collapse of Celsius and others I wouldn’t want to take any chances. I’d move those funds over to BTC and off of the exchange just in case the worst does happen. Better to be safe than sorry.
4782  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 07, 2022, 01:17:36 PM
Kyrie Irving has responded to the Nets six step plan for him to return to the team by telling them that he plans to retire. This seems like it may be the latest stunt to force a trade. The amount of drama that has followed Kyrie from his exit in Cleveland has been impressive. The guy is a walking drama machine. I agree with his stance though. First covid and now free speech. The NBA is getting a little too controlling.

I got some of these to add to my commemorative MJB MonetaryMetals / Mulligan Mint AOCS token collection.

OGNasty, did you know that the original v1 1g silver MJBMonetary Metals coin from this post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=23256.0

Yes. You can often see me telling people who use his designs that they should send him some free stuff. The second line of the OP even gives credit to MJBMonetartMetals for designing these coins (and the Litecoin versions). He was an iconic early designer in the Bitcoin community, a great guy, and I’d like to consider him a personal friend.

Right now the game of Los Angeles Lakers VS Cleveland Cavaliers is commencing and the Lakers is on the lead right now with 35 - 29 but here is my take on my pick for today's game,

Russel Westbrook is having a good game. 12 point in 5/6 of shooting and it is just the start of the second quarter. I bet on cavs here and my bet is looking bad. The score is just close though, so there is still a good chance I can still win this game.

Westbrook has been on an absolute tear since coming off the bench. I think with slightly less competition he can dominate. He’s shooting an incredible average the last 4 games and keeps getting better. What a turnaround. I’m so happy for him. I hope he can keep it up. What was happening to him personally in Los Angeles wasn’t right. With a scoring threat off the bench, all LA needs now is a three point shooter and they might make the playoffs.
4785  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Binance CZ decided to dump all there FTT tokens on: November 06, 2022, 07:19:56 PM
It now makes sense to me why FTX is going to be offering their own stablecoin. I thought they were going to raise a ton of funds in order to buy the bottom here and send us upward. However, it now looks like they’ve gotten themselves into a leveraged mess with their FTT token and are likely looking to bail themselves out using funds from offering a stablecoin. I hope they can be successful, otherwise FTX collapsing would definitely send us downward to that $13K everyone has been eyeballing.
4786  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 06, 2022, 05:29:10 PM
The Lakers Cavs game today would be a fun one to watch. Unfortunately, it isn’t televised on any channels I am able to watch. The Bulls vs Raptors game will be nationally televised, but I’m not sure I’m willing to sit through that one. It seems like a lot of Bulls games are being nationally televised this year. I guess the networks expected big thigg by s from the Bulls after their great regular season last year.
4787  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen to crypto exchanges in the future? on: November 06, 2022, 05:26:49 PM
I always thought Bitcoin would move towards a ton of small exchanges run by lots of different types of businesses. It seems like instead there has been a lot of consolidation in the industry and large players emerging. This isn’t ideal, but hopefully at some point we see more distributed exchanges (DEX) as they are the on-ramps to crypto and probably most at risk for being shut down and hindering the market.
4788  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Binance CZ decided to dump all there FTT tokens on: November 06, 2022, 05:24:05 PM
*their FTT tokens

This can’t be good news. I’m hearing rumors that the market cap of FTT is about 5 billion dollars higher than makes any sense. No doubt Binance selling so much over an extended period of time is going to have a negative effect on FTT’s value. I just hope we won’t be seeing another Luna situation, which the smoke is starting to appear on the horizon. Watch out for the fire and steer clear…
4789  Other / Meta / Re: [POLL] Should there be a 🍀 BTC AIRDROP 🍀 to Bitcointalk Merit Sources on: November 06, 2022, 05:20:46 PM
if i got paid it would become like a job.

im retired. nah.

If you were paid something like 1 satoshi per merit distributed, it wouldn’t be much of an income to consider it a job. It would be more of an educational incentive to fire up a lightning node while further incentivizing users to make good posts. I’m sure a lot of people wouldn’t bother setting up a node (maybe custodial wallets could be excluded somehow) and the tiny income of 1 sat per merit wouldn’t be enough to impact the forum’s finances in any way. This forum doesn’t really support the lightning network though (I don’t blame it) so this idea seems unlikely.
4790  Other / Meta / Re: Do we care why people were banned? on: November 06, 2022, 05:15:47 PM
As someone who has been harassed at levels that crossed the line of legality while the user remained active here with no action from this site, I am always curious what actually gets people banned here. It’s funny what awful behavior gets defended as free speech (spoiler alert: free speech doesn’t cover illegal behavior) while others get banned for the silliest things. Makes no sense but I enjoy the hypocrisy.
4791  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Which is the smallest "physical" Bitcoin ever made? on: November 06, 2022, 05:12:19 PM
I engraved some tiny metal discs with private keys that were going to go inside carved wooden round “coins” in a cooperative project with WoodCollector several years ago. WoodCollector ended up stealing the prototype and disappearing, but it was a pretty sweet attempt at something new and the engraved metal discs were damn small. No idea what ended up happening to them. Most likely they will remain a myth.
4792  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solana going Big??? on: November 06, 2022, 05:07:53 PM
The news that Google will be running a Solana validator is pretty big news. I hope they’re able to help Solana stay running. There’s been a lot of times over the last year where Solana has gone down, hindering all of the projects that rely on it. Some have recently even moved to other chains as a result. As far as centralized blockchains go, Solana is one of the best and it sounds like this is a step forward for them.
4793  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does Web 3.0 have a future? on: November 05, 2022, 09:35:49 PM
I think the most obvious future for web3 is gaming so it’s fascinating to me how gamers hate web3 so much. Being able to resell skins as NFTs would allow kids to start learning about finance at a young age and I for one would love to know there are some 8 year old millionaires out there because they were good at Fortnite.

Another obvious use would be tickets for events, which I think NFTs are perfect for.
4794  Economy / Speculation / Re: Terra cofounder Do Kwon is the one who is pumping Bitcoin on: November 05, 2022, 09:27:17 PM
Did I see that he was tweeting the other day? I for one didn’t think he would really go in the run like this. Is he the new John McAfee? I can’t think of another example of someone running from authorities and keeping up public posts. Maybe Snowden but that seems a little far from what Do Kwon is doing. Do people think he will be caught? If so, what time frame?
4795  Other / Politics & Society / Re: January 6 was all staged. on: November 05, 2022, 09:21:24 PM
I don’t know if I’d go as far as saying it was staged. However it does appear that someone took advantage of a crowd and a lack of security to incite a mob of mostly harmless individuals and frame it as an attack on the capitol. Ray Epps being the obvious culprit of someone’s plan to create an incident where one would not have been. What makes it a horrible catastrophe is that someone lost their life as a result. We may never know the truth about Ray Epps or who is ultimately responsible, but I too believe the people storming the capitol building were pawns and not the orchestrators of the event.

Ray Epps conspiracy theory was debunked long ago.  And I have to say it's one of the dumbest conspiracy theories, even for Trumptards.  Completely baseless.

A bunch of idiots, including you, destroyed the guys life for no reason.

I know you don't care about the facts as they won't change your mind, and even if they did - your ego would never allow you to admit you're wrong, but for anyone that is interested:

https://www.nytimes.com/2022/07/13/us/politics/jan-6-conspiracy-theory-ray-epps.html

https://www.factcheck.org/2022/01/jan-6-conspiracy-theory-centers-on-baseless-claim-about-ray-epps/

One of your links appears to be broken and the other behind a paywall so I’m not sure what exactly you are trying to say about Ray Epps. The video seems to paint a clear picture to me. He was inciting an attack on the Capitol building even while people were actively telling him not to do so. Do you think if Donald Trump was doing what Ray Epps did that liberals wouldn’t be crying to have him jailed?
4796  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have your winnings lured someone into gambling ? on: November 05, 2022, 09:16:06 PM
I’ve never won any amount that was worthy of bragging about. I mostly make small bets for the entertainment factor. I couldn’t imagine anyone entering the gambling space because they heard I won a few dollars on a parlay. I could make the argument that longtime Bitcoin holders have lured others into investing in shitcoins as a way to try and make large returns gambling in the crypto space.

Week 101 Payments Sent

Thank you for always being so prompt with the payments.  If I could make a suggestion (doesn't really matter but who doesn't like armchair quarterbacks), I'm never aware of who wins the $35 payment bonus for being a quality poster.  I know this is my fault for not keeping up with the spreadsheet or in the Telegram chat.  It would be great if the quality posters of the week were given a shoutout on this thread with your payments sent messages too.  Smiley  Not the end of the world if it's not seen as necessary.  Just might be nice to toss some recognition to our quality posters on here.  Smiley
4798  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How are Online casino's and sports betting platforms coping? on: November 05, 2022, 06:23:39 PM
Online casinos and sports betting platforms are big businesses like we all know, and currently considering the economic situation of things around the world many businesses are affected and have been taking measures to cut costs in terms of reducing staff, taking loans etc to still be able to sustain operations. How do you think online casinos and sports betting platforms are adjusting to manage the situation?

As others have stated, I think online casinos are doing pretty good business.  Their user base is growing and regulations are softening around the world.  Not to mention that most of the sites currently operating were operating when Bitcoin was at much lower prices, so many of them made an absolute fortune on the exchange rate.  Then there's things they do to make extra money like staking user funds or collecting on airdrops...  Don't feel bad for the casino operators.  The successful ones are absolutely rolling in dough.  I've seen more staffing up and previous employees getting raises then I've seen cost cutting...
4799  Economy / Gambling / Re: STAKE.COM - VIP HOST REFUSES TO SEND REWARDS AND REFUSES TO CHANGE MY HOST on: November 05, 2022, 06:20:54 PM
You state that he has been accusing you of things.  Can you share these accusations with us?  It seems like you're playing the victim without giving the information about WHY your host Steve is behaving this way.  Is it a simple misunderstanding on his part?  Are you doing something shady that he says is breaking the rules?  Why not just close your account and start a new one selecting a different host?  I feel like there's more to this story and if you provide specifics along with screenshots to prove you are speaking the truth, you may find more success in getting the help you need.  Good luck!
4800  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC Ever Reach $100k? on: November 05, 2022, 06:16:49 PM
How could it not?  There is so much investment behind it at this point, I think it's a self-fulfilling prophecy.  The bets have been made, the players have taken their positions...  I think this is going to be the first 4-year cycle that wall street traders may shape instead of crypto industry insiders.  So I think the 4 year peaks are going to become a little less pronounced and people will likely take profits earlier and earlier causing more volatility during the peaks and valleys, but the ultimate effect will be stabilization.  In any event, if we aren't above $100K by 2029, I would say that something big must have happened to stop it.  My more bullish belief is that we'll hit six figures sometime in late 2024.
