4781  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Approximately 384 Days until the next Bitcoin halving on: February 03, 2023, 08:09:00 AM
But I think there isn't enough evidence to expect a bull run around halving. We may have a bull run sooner, in 2023, we may have its continuation in 2024.

People see bitcoin's past halving performances as "evidence". But once everyone expects the same exact thing to happen though, that's when things end up moving differently. Maybe the price increase would come far sooner, far longer in the future, or maybe not at all.
I kind of agree on that contrarian perspective.
Still, it's important to notice that first of all, the 4 years cycle of halvings kind of aligns well with other economic cycles, also each additional Bitcoin DOES INDEED become more precious and takes double the expenses to produce with mining.
Just because of these two factors, it is still very likely to see a big effect coming from the halving - however the effect we see on the market could be much earlier than expected or delayed a little more. Personally I expect to see a slower curve with less amplitude regarding the effects on pricing - exactly because so much more people are aware of this cycle and its implications.
Well said! Halving is much anticipated and more people are now aware of it and are ready to make money to avoid missing out, unlike the last ones. But have you ever thought of it backfiring? I am much expecting the moment as well, but as an investor, I will always be very careful to overstate what could be the outcome. Like I always tell people offline, I will follow what I see on my long-term chart rather than allow myself to be blinded by a tradition.

I've stayed long enough in the financial market to say that things do not always happen the way we plan at times, and if it does, we take advantage. But under a careful consciousness.
4782  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: February 03, 2023, 07:35:13 AM
Chelsea Fulham game would be a one of wills as the two sides would be looking for a much needed three points. For Chelsea, they'd not just want a comfortable three points, but also to prove critics wrong about the excessive spendings made during the transfer window to secure good players as the believe these signings could improve their performance.
For Fulham, they'd not just want that three points to be able to move to sixth place, sliding past Brighton, but hopefully to be the team to possibly put Graham Potter's job on the line furthermore.
In all, I expect a tough game tonight and if I were to drop a possible outcome in the game, I'd say x2..

I would agree on Fulham double chance as the odd should be 2 or near that number.I don't understand how the bookies can give 1.62 odds to Chelsea after Chelsea screwing up in a lot of games lately while Fulham have only lost to teams leading the standings and recently they were on a good run.I thought the odd of Chelsea in this game to be over 1.8 and that is why I agree on a Fulham double chance which is a value bet in this game in my opinion.
I see nothing serious between 1.62 and 1.8 odd for Chelsea, but higher than 2.0 would have been significant enough. I believe that Chelsea is still benefiting from its past glory, and they have a higher chance of bouncing back gloriously. This might be one of the criteria used in apportioning them the odd, which I believe strongly is not bad.

Personally, I believe Chelsea will beat Fulham, you can take my word for that, facing challenges does not mean that they don't have what it takes to win judging by the status of the team they have.

4783  Economy / Gambling / Re: I accidentally deposited to self-excluded stake.com account. on: February 03, 2023, 07:19:50 AM
There is 1 thing you guys are missing here.

Once the 1 year self exclusion ends OP will be forced to gamble with the funds because you cant deposit and withdraw without having made a 100% rollover.

"The player needs to wager 100% of the value of their deposit in order to request a FIAT withdrawal."

So basically they say we have to respect the self exclusion but once it's over you have to gamble to receive your funds.
On the one side he now has a 1 year "safe deposit" but to get it he will have to risk it  Grin .

That's a problem.
In your response, you are concluding that Stake actually received his money but not allowing him to withdraw it, and must wait a year to wager 100% before he would receive a withdrawal. Well, to me, it's cheating, it's not fair and I condemn it in its entirety. The self-exclusion in gambling and other addictive schemes was made for a reason, and if this guy sues them, he would win and still make them pay for damages.

He has already informed them of his error as a human being, and they (Stake), if responsible indeed should even be of help to the guy since his case/condition is different. Only that they are being selfish if the case is truly the way you concluded it.

I'm not concluding anything. I am a happy stake user myself.

Just stating the facts, I don't have to agree with it but since I don't have a problem or want to self exclude myself I wont come in this situation.
In my opinion deposits, just as withdrawals, should be disabled on accounts that are blocked.

Just added this because people here wrote something like "well at least at the end of the period you still have your money" , but since he still has to wager it to be able to withdraw that's not entirely true.
I must say I like your response and sincerity here, we have to call a spade what it is at all times. I also read what many have to say regarding this injustice (if it's true), and I discovered that people don't even know their rights and neither do they truly stand in the defence of injustice. In my first response to the OP before replying to yours, I made it clear that the gambler with the self-exclusion status in his account should at least be warned in case of a mistake in the deposit was made.

But preferably, the account was supposed to be disabled regardless until some strict condition is met to be sure that the gambler knows what he is doing.
4784  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much time do you think you have spent gambling? on: February 02, 2023, 04:57:46 PM
The timing of gambling is in two categories. There are some that must be done before their scheduled time is expired, and there are some that could be done at any time. For the former, I make sure I bet before the time grace elapses, while for the latter, I only spare 2 hours daily for it. But this does not include the time that I am bored and do not have serious things to do. In such cases, I might gamble and game for hours, but I strictly maintain little money for the acts.
4785  Economy / Economics / Re: Is taking a loan/debt addicted ? on: February 02, 2023, 04:31:05 PM
Now it's easier to take a debt, the many offers of applications that provide loans with easy terms make many people trapped with debt, moreover the debt is only used for pleasures such as travel, culinary, hobbies and so on, and it can be said that debt is now is an addiction.
Loan taking is not an addiction but it's addictive and those people that see this coming are so few and the number of people that would be affected is also few. It was still better when only commercial banks give loans where you will have to go through some tough/strict conditions and have collateral before taking loans.

But things have revolutionised, nowadays, you can take loans as fast as you can imagine, and this is mostly done without any collateral. This is where the addiction starts, and to be sure of what I am saying, I was getting addicted to loan apps between 2021-2022. I would have money in my account and still be craving for a loan to show how bad it was.
4786  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading and investing, and still very broke.why? Is it spiritual? on: February 02, 2023, 04:18:53 PM
I sit-down to wonder why traders who are consistent in trading and also investing still remain very broke despite the effort they put to erradicating poverty, but it still seems like there is some sort of unforseen and spiritual forces controlling the physical.Or should it be foundational curse from the forefathers affecting the present circumstances?or is it that the poverty is inherited? Or is it a gene or chromosome?.These are questions that that I tend to ask.
Could you believe I couldn't stop laughing reading your post? I guess you are a Nigerian, perhaps some black part of Africa. Frankly, a thing like spiritual could be present, but they target a few sets of people, so it's irrelevant since the majority are losing in retail trading/investments. Professionally, based on my experience, people do not understand what trading and investment are, they are rushing in and out and approaching them wrongly.

This causes their losses, and since you can't make money through them, you will lose, hence the reason for their poverty. This will continue until they get it right.
4787  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if 1 satoshi worth more than 1 dollar? on: February 02, 2023, 04:06:15 PM
After all, you thought of something, so I appreciate it a lot. But the truth is that your suggested solutions are irrelevant to the situation. No one is going to do an upgrade because of that, and if an upgrade would happen, who will champion it? And do you think government care so much about Bitcoin to the point of working on your second suggested solution?

Well, if 1 satoshi reaches $1 which I don't think is feasible soon, it would only increase the transactional cost, nothing else would be affected.
4788  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: February 02, 2023, 08:56:38 AM
I'm watching the Roma vs Cremonese match, incredibly Cremonese are winning 0-2, and they're confirming themselves as great killers in the Italian cup, reaching the semifinals for them would be an absolute record. strange that Roma play so badly, it seems that the players row against Mourinho
Cremonese is a promotion club that never won Seri A throughout the competition but was able to play on the quarter-final Coppa, They beat Napoli in 8 rounds, and now disgrace Roma at home. I think this is a great achievement for the club butit  is very lame when we compare it to the main competition, seems like Cremonese didn't focus on what they targeted in this session, coppa cup doesn't make them stay on seri a.

They won on penalties that time and it's surprising considering how difficult it is for Cremonese to compete in the league and as you said they're the only team that hasn't won yet but could do better in the Coppa Italia by knocking out 2 clubs that are considered more capable of continuing progress, but it's a shame whatever the results in the Coppa Italia even if they can win won't prevent them from relegation, isn't that right?
Mourinho underrate this Cremonese side. He didn’t featured most of his best players in that game. He felt like their standing on the league table was enough to reason for him to play that way. The fact that drew against Napoli and won them on penalties should have given them the insight into how the game would have been. I also feel he didn’t see the Coppa Italian as important as the Serie A. So I wasn’t surprised with the result.
He should not have underrated Cremonese, that's what's wrong with some coaches, they often prepare more for the better team, not knowing that the points of the less-performing team against them weigh more. I did not believe that Roma will not win that match, maybe it's because it's Coppa Italia, but I don't see a reason why they should take it less seriously.

Even with Serie A, they need to do well in their next match with Empoli, which might give them the ticket straight to the 3rd position in the league.
4789  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Advice on choosing a crypto casino on: February 02, 2023, 08:41:48 AM
Look for reviews. You can tell whether a review is fake or not. Fake reviews are more into general statements. Legit reviews are more into specifics. Read the reviews and decide which one is best suited for you.
I disagree, not all fake reviews are general in statements and not all legit reviews have specifics as you claimed. There are fake reviews everywhere, which is why it is good to know the forum/community you trust for the review. Generally, I don't believe a review of a site where the author would be the sole reviewer, that's is mainly fake.

Still, there are forums where individuals would be allowed to make their reviews, yet many fake reviews will be part of it. Extensive digging is the way out of this situation.

Today Manchester united will be taking on Nottingham Forest, and this should be a game for recovery for Manchester united since there shown some sign of improvement since the beginning of this season, but haven't lost to Arsenal since some weeks ago Manchester united should take the match as a must win the match.
I don't view this match as a crucial match to watch because Man U supposes to win Nottingham Forest easily judging by their current performances. The club had done well, especially after the world cup, and they are still pushing higher, and I hope they maintain the top 3 spots this season. And you should know that they faced a tough task when they played against Arsenal. Arsenal is doing extra well this season, the club that would beat them again according to all the analyses have made in the premiership would try harder and will also be lucky.
4792  Economy / Economics / Re: Is bitcoin inflation wilder than fiat? on: February 01, 2023, 07:39:28 AM
so what you think if bitcoin inflation is wilder than fiat?
You are getting it all wrong, it's certainly unprofessional to ask whether the inflation of Bitcoin is more/wilder than that of fiat, it's just like you are asking nothing. Both could be argued to have worth that could be tendered for their value at their prevailing rate, so they are the same in your context.

But in the proper context, inflation has affected fiats differently since some are risk-on, while others are risk-off. Take the USD as an example, it's a risk-off asset, it appreciated throughout last year while the risk-on fiat sold off just like Bitcoin.

Also, those risk-on assets sold off in varied magnitude.
4793  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin 12,000 in 2023. on: January 31, 2023, 03:01:40 PM
Bitcoin has started 2023 well, but this could still not be used in judging what it would do most in the year. The economics are still biting but subsiding, which is a good hope for the coin. Yet, one should know that it might be difficult for it to reach the low of last year of about $15,500 anymore. And if that level breaks, anything could happen, including your suggested $12,000.

Nonetheless, I don't see that coming for now, all I expect is for the coin to retire a little and continue its bullish movements for a test of above $25,000 before deciding further on what to do.
4794  Economy / Economics / Re: How worried should americans be if the debt ceiling isn’t lifted? on: January 31, 2023, 02:49:13 PM
At this time, the US has to be careful in handling the issue of the debt ceiling, the lifting of the ceiling has both good and bad effects. But the bad effects of not lifting it will weigh more at this time that inflation is biting so hard in the country. The US hit their debt ceiling of $31.4 trillion two weeks ago, and it has generated controversy.

This is a problem for the US treasury and might make the country slips quickly into an economic depression. The US treasury and the federal government will err in fulfilling their obligations, and there is no way this will not affect almost every facet of the US.
4795  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: January 31, 2023, 07:15:24 AM
I must sincerely say that arsenal is really doing  great despite their recent 1:0 loss to Manchester city, Arsenal has proven to be good this season, Arsenal really deserve the league this time but the really need to work harder in other to achieve it.
The lose against city was in the FA cup and it have nothing to do with the EPL, arsenal team will surely not give up the premier league dream easily and they will fight to the last minute and if city want to keep the title in Manchester they need a very hard work and they must get the maximum number of points in the next matches
Indeed, the defeat in FA Cup has nothing to do with EPL which is the main objective of Arsenal since the beginning of the season.
No need to say that they will keep their good record in EPL intact and will win vs Everton in their home. The odds are way in favour of Arsenal obviously.
Premier League is way more important than the FA cup everyone knows that, and with Arsenal's performance so far in it, fans are not disappointed at all after the elimination against Man City, all the focus should be in the premier league and Arsenal should get their revenge on man city by winning the league.
Don't say FA is less important to the premiership, what you see in one could be a litmus test of what will happen in the other. Arsenal is doing well, no doubt, but they need to prove that what they are enjoying this season is not mere luck, we need to know if they will continue with this kind of feat in many contests.

Though 1-0 might still be argued to be a stroke of luck, but it doesn't entirely disregard that Man City could replicate it in the premiership.
4796  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: do not invest in crypto from loans. on: January 31, 2023, 06:33:54 AM
I heard that there were people who invested in crypto, and ended up buying crypto and their money from loans, but it's a shame they suffered losses because they invested in altcoins, but they lacked knowledge and lessons about crypto. but with this incident it made me think that investing in crypto should not result from loans because,,,
will make the mind uneasy, and always in the shadow of the deposit every month.

so in my opinion, don't invest from borrowed money because there will be potential losses, what do you think, do you agree with me?
I don't agree with you, but not entirely. It's good to have advised people not to take loans for an investment, it's wise as it's not the kind of money they can afford to lose, so it is against the principle of investment. However, Bitcoin is a different kind of investment, and if anyone could see it at a low price and take a loan for it, it's not bad in my thought as I can do this, "without risk, there will not be gains."

Also, there are certain times you invest in cryptos, like the halving times. A lot of people got their wealth in the last halving due to this, and many even took loans in my country that they offset easily and became rich.
4797  Economy / Gambling / Re: I accidentally deposited to self-excluded stake.com account. on: January 31, 2023, 06:16:16 AM
Frankly, I don't believe you, self-exclusion means that you are going through addiction or you want to deliberately take a break from gambling. This is a status that I don't believe one should forget that easily. But let's assume you forgot and you tried to make a deposit, I believe a responsible gambling company must set an alert for you as a reminder to know if you are actually rescinding the decision. And Stake is not doing well if your allegation is true, because they are supposed to be the ones that will help you through the trying times by principles, not adding to your emotional woes.

Well, I will not jump to conclusions unless you show us proof here.

4799  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bye Bye Bear Market :) on: January 30, 2023, 02:50:51 PM
Bitcoin 2018 vs 2022:

1. 7 MA crossing 25 MA.
2. Bitcoin broke the resistance trendline.
3. End of Bear Market, bottom is in.
Although Bitcoin is bullish in the long-term outlook, it's still too early to say the bear market has ended, the year just started. The MA crossing you relied upon can fail as it did many times in the past, so there is nothing affirmative yet. However, the trendline is a more reliable guide in this condition, but my weekly chart looks so different from yours as you can see below. My weekly trendline has dotted the same levels you claimed, and it's showing that the trendline was broken since last year October and has remained above the level till now.

4800  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambler Loses 1.4 million USD in a bet with lower than 1.01 odds! on: January 30, 2023, 07:35:28 AM
1 million dollars to win 8000 dollars? Either the guy has a lot of money to throw around, or he just wanted to earn fee money (something stupid I would do sometimes, bet 1 million satoshi to win 8000 satoshi on dice to pay for a withdrawal fee.

Totally naive, and inexperienced, but I've also done the same at Bitvest to my loss Sad
I wouldn't conclude that the guy is inexperienced mate, there is a high chance the guy do have a lot of money to throw around, and from the odds, it is certain that the guy trusted in the game too much which is why he had the confidence to bet such an amount of money, its like discovering opportunity to make some profit on your money, then you throw everything in so that you can make much profit as possible..
Here, the guy bet 1.4 million dollars to make a profit of 11k dollars, if he had won the game as he was so sure of, he would have made 11k dollars easy, that alone is still alot of money to several of us who are pleb gamblers .
I second you on that, the issue is not about the inexperience of the gambler. Who went for a very low odd of 1.008 must have experience, but was only overbearing and foolish in gambling that much. Such has mistaken 'almost-certainty' for 'certain' thereby believing 100% that he would win. Such might have been working for him, but it can't all the time.

That is why it's better to diversify our portfolio if we want to be successful in gambling and trading. Nothing is 100% sure in gambling, even if the situation is 99.99% sure, the 0.01% uncertainty can still put the person in trouble.
