4781  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Threads translation challenge for newbie's. on: May 24, 2022, 02:07:49 PM
@Lida93, I see that you are active in Nigeria local board, so I guess you want to translate from English to your local language. @Pmalek has already given you some basic guidelines, and the most important thing is not to get involved in translations using translation tools because they won't do a good job.

I would advise you to look at the thread from @fillippone -> Help me translate my best posts in your Local Board

Since I don’t see anyone translating his posts into your language, this can be a big challenge for you Wink

4783  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The average joe would never accept bitcoin as means of payment due to tx fees on: May 24, 2022, 12:39:28 PM
That is EXACTLY RIGHT. You win the internet today, my friend.
If having bankers and bureaucrats control your every financial move all for the promised of safety and protection, Bitcoin is not for you. Pay your taxes, make sure all your transactions are approved, tracked, documented, and googlelized.
Freedom is not for pussies and mommiesboyz.

Freedom of choice is the most important thing in my opinion, and people are so deep in the mud of centralization that they no longer want to think that there is an alternative. However, people are completely wrong if they think that Bitcoin can become something that will interest a significant percentage of people in such a short time - changes will take decades if they happen at all.

The average Joe is not at all interested in Bitcoin, and far from being bothered by some fee he doesn't even know exists. When I came to this forum in 2015 it was said that Bitcoin is used in some way or owned by 1-2% of the total population, and today it is maybe 5% (although some claim it is much more). So I don’t think the problem is how Bitcoin works, but how people think about it.
4784  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What approach do you expect from the Government if your Country adopt bitcoin? on: May 24, 2022, 10:34:26 AM
Well, if El Salvador is considered to have failed with its bitcoin adoption so far [perhaps they have never failed 100%] then what do you expect if one day your country also decides to adopt bitcoin as a currency and legal tender especially regarding the approach and steps your government should take?

I don't know what miracles all those who ask questions about some kind of Bitcoin failed in El Salvador expected? Neither Bitcoin could or should have saved a country, nor could that country launch Bitcoin into some unrealistic mass adaptation. It is quite disappointing to see people who think that some very complex things can happen in just a few months, and realistically it takes years or even decades to do so.

Bitcoin does not necessarily have to be a legal tender in the way it is set up in El Salvador to work successfully. As far as I know, Bitcoin is not a legal tender in the Netherlands, but the city of Arnhem is literally called Bitcoin City due to the many shops, bars, and restaurants where you can pay with Bitcoin. Therefore, there is no need to wait for governments to declare a Bitcoin legal tender, nor is it realistic in most developed countries - the alternative should never become an obligation.
4785  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My Ken on Bitcoin on: May 24, 2022, 09:48:00 AM
In the year 2017, I saw a banner on a street in my location about job opportunities with the name. "Wealth Creation". Then I took the number and dial it and I spoke with the Director and he told me to go to the office in the following day by 8:30 am.

The director answers the phone instead of the secretary who went to lunch or there is no secretary at all? Directors never answer the phone in my case, but you've obviously been lucky Wink

And I chose forex and crypto currencies trading. In the trading class I learned only bitcoin. And it was just the preamble because of time factor and it was one day orientation class. So since then I had not gotten the time to learn again, so when my friend introduced bitcointalk and said I will learn a lot from it in my free period, then I signed up.

If that 1 day cost you only $3 then you didn't lose anything, even though you couldn't learn much. I would be more careful when it comes to such offers, because there are some much more expensive courses that last much longer, and in the end, no one guarantees that you will be smarter than at the beginning. The forum is definitely a free option, and if you really want to learn something every day you have the opportunity to do so.

4786  Economy / Economics / Re: Countries with the most expensive fuel | Greece's case study on: May 24, 2022, 09:18:06 AM
And, sadly, since a big percent of that fuel comes from Russia, these elevated prices help Russia's war effort. Isn't politics a bitch?

Politics is a dirty business and there is no doubt about it, but in this particular case, we can see that some are still dirtier than others. The Russians are playing their strongest cards and already 5 or 6 years ago they knew the exact moves of their opponents - and the proof of that is that the sanctions have not practically touched them. They say the EU alone spends about 1 EUR billion a day on oil and gas, not to mention how much more money comes from the rest of the world.

I hope that everyone will learn something from this, although in the short term Russia can create big problems when it comes to oil and gas supplies to the EU. Summer hasn't even started yet, but winter is not so far away.
4787  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: SELLING A LB ACCOUNT WITH 0.00516804 BTC BALANCE on: May 24, 2022, 08:58:57 AM
I go to verify it.
I get a link in my phone as SMS.
I open the link.
When I gonna take a photo of my ID card it says "Not enough memory" and I get back to the first step.
Time after time after time after time.

The problem could be in the storage of your phone, it seems that you do not have enough memory to save a photo of your ID. Try deleting some old images or files you don't need, or change the image quality in the camera settings. Although this may not solve the problem, because some users report similar things, so it may be a specific bug.

4788  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: SELLING A LB ACCOUNT WITH 0.00516804 BTC BALANCE on: May 23, 2022, 01:14:44 PM
What exactly is the problem and which Tier are you trying to verify? Although you may think you have the correct documents, these are some of the reasons why you do not pass the verification :

When verifying your ID, make sure to use high resolution and unedited pictures of a valid supported document. The images must be originals, not scanned or pictures of photocopies. Verifying for T1 is an easy and fast process, but some ID verification attempts might fail due to:

Date of birth missing from document
Expired document
Poor image quality
Unsupported document

In addition, someone else who would try to verify your account would very likely find themselves in trouble, because different documents would certainly only make the situation worse. Therefore, I suggest that you read the instructions well and try to verify yourself exactly according to the instructions.
4789  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thank you Laszlo Hanyecz! Happy Bitcoin Pizza Day! on: May 23, 2022, 10:48:34 AM
So, we Thank you Laszlo Hanyecz for your sacrifice and your gesture that changed the way people looked at Bitcoin in the future. Bitcoin might never have achieved it's success, if it was not for you.  Wink

I don't know why people think it was some kind of sacrifice or that Laszlo made a mistake by paying for 2 pizzas as much as 10 000 BTC? It should be noted that this was a completely different time when anyone could mine BTC with their computer and when very few people believed that Bitcoin could succeed. 50 BTC per block was a very generous reward, and I guess it wasn't extremely difficult to mine 10 000 BTC.

This is without a doubt a historical event, but even if it had not happened then and in such a way, I guess Bitcoin would not have ceased to exist. Someone could also buy a few beers or burgers, and then we would celebrate Beer Day or Hamburger Day today.

I have been thinking why no admin or moderator replied to me yet? Do I need to send DM to any one?
Can please someone guide me?

If you think that 1 month of waiting is a lot of time, it means that you are not very familiar with how the system works. If you want an example of how long something like this can last, I suggest you read the following thread and pay special attention to the dates -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5097792.0
4791  Economy / Economics / Re: Countries with the most expensive fuel | Greece's case study on: May 23, 2022, 09:32:31 AM
I may be wrong, but I always put Greece in the context of what happened in the not-so-distant past when Greece was saved in what is called the biggest financial rescue of a bankrupt country in history. Given all the measures and the huge debt that will not be able to be repaid until 2060 at the earliest, Greece is in great disfavor with those who bought its debt.

All this that is happening all over the world in Greece can only be more pronounced because the country does not have a free hand to deal with the crisis but must listen to what the bureaucrats from Brussels will do. The fact that the ECB only has a meeting in July where it could raise interest rates only deepens the crisis and raises inflation.

My country is in the EU, but fortunately, it is still not within the eurozone, which gives the central bank room for maneuvering to make some decisions together with the government. Fuel prices have been frozen several times already, which means that the price of 95 is about 0.40 EUR lower than in Greece. In addition, despite the sanctions, we are one of the countries that increased the most Russian oil imports after the Russian aggression on Ukraine. I'm not happy about that, especially since I know that part of the oil goes to another country, but that's another story.

Inflation is inevitable, and those who can keep it at around 10% will be considered lucky - others will have to tighten their belts even more. When it comes to the EU, I have no doubt that the countries in the west will fare much better than those in the east, but we should not be surprised, given that in the end everyone has to take care of themselves.
4792  Economy / Economics / Re: World has just ten weeks' worth of wheat left after Ukraine war on: May 23, 2022, 09:05:38 AM
I also read that news a few days ago, but I wonder how much truth there is in it, and how much it is about journalistic exaggeration and placing sensational headlines. It is undeniable that some countries are heavily dependent on wheat imports from Ukraine and Russia, and that Russia is using the lever to blackmail the world to lift some sanctions, but developments suggest the US and other countries will not allow the blockade of Ukrainian ports to continue indefinitely.

Ukraine has been asking for a long time, and it seems that the delivery of anti-ship missiles has finally been approved, which will mean a turning point in the war at sea. In the event that Ukraine receives such weapons, all Russian ships would be fully exposed and would have to withdraw or be destroyed. The only question is how long Russia will try to achieve some of its goals in this way, but it will certainly not last long - the unblocking of Black Sea ports will happen with the military defeat of the Black Sea Fleet or Russia's withdrawal before that.

WASHINGTON, May 19 (Reuters) - The White House is working to put advanced anti-ship missiles in the hands of Ukrainian fighters to help defeat Russia's naval blockade, officials said, amid concerns more powerful weapons that could sink Russian warships would intensify the conflict. Bryan Clark, a naval expert at the Hudson Institute, said 12 to 24 anti-ship missiles like the Harpoon with ranges over 100 km would be enough to threaten Russian ships and could convince Moscow to lift the blockade. "If Putin persists, Ukraine could take out the largest Russian ships, since they have nowhere to hide in the Black Sea," Clark said.
4793  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you saved your bitcoins in multiple wallets? on: May 23, 2022, 08:42:45 AM
I am holding Bitcoin and crypto on an online wallet, exchange, electrum.

If it's a smaller amount, then I can still understand that you use online wallets or crypto exchanges - although you should know that neither of these two methods is desirable as a storage method because you are always exposed to hacking or possible exit scam.

I cant say that I have divided holding identically, I just keep crypto where it appears. As I mostly hold, visit practically same internet recourses from day to day, I dont bother a lot about security of my funds. I just keep seed phrases and passwords far from devices like PC, laptop or tablet computer.

You should worry more though, because some others are certainly trying to find a way to steal what you have. It makes no sense to keep your passwords and seeds as far away as possible from the device you are using, especially if you have not protected them well. Storing backups in different locations makes sense, but only if those locations are secure - otherwise you only increase the risk of someone finding them, accidentally or intentionally.
4794  Economy / Economics / Re: What can an average JOE do to face the global food crisis? on: May 23, 2022, 08:01:34 AM
I think chickens might be a good option. They can feed on termites, insects and other random things found in the environment. And produce a decent number of eggs every week.

You need space to keep chickens, this is by no means something you can do in cities, and in my specific case keeping anything other than pets is prohibited by law. Furthermore, chickens will certainly not be very productive in laying eggs if they are not provided with additional nutrition, which means that you need at least corn and grain as additional nutrition.

What may still be a problem are the diseases that prevail among birds, and if you keep chickens outdoors they are exposed to bird flu. So while it may seem easy, from the experience of some people I know personally, not everything is as simple as it seems.
4795  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The average joe would never accept bitcoin as means of payment due to tx fees on: May 22, 2022, 03:41:53 PM
I believe that transaction fees and losing your wallet or getting hacked and not receiving any reimbursement is a serious archilies heel preventing mass adoption for bitcoin.

Bitcoin was not created for those who are afraid of new challenges and for those who are blind followers of a system that keeps them on a short leash. Also, Bitcoin is not the ultimate solution to all our problems, but only an alternative for people who are able to be their own bank and accept all the risks that come with such responsibility.

Fees are never too high if you understand what input, output, transaction size, and mempool mean - I agree that the average Joe doesn't want to understand that, but Bitcoin is still for those who use a little more brain than the average Joe who has a plastic card and PIN and is incapable for nothing more than that.

bitcoin will only be like gold aka store of value.

For some, Bitcoin is nothing more than that - but everyone has the right to interpret it in their own way. Find out what the director of the ECB thinks about Bitcoin, and what the governor of the Bank of England or maybe the famous Warren Buffett thinks? Should they determine our destiny or maybe it’s time to start thinking with our heads?
4796  Economy / Economics / Re: What can an average JOE do to face the global food crisis? on: May 22, 2022, 03:18:32 PM
What can the average middle-class person do to protect themselves from food problems?
Will buying more food and storing it solve the problem, or trying to start farming or investing and trying to increase his money to buy food at any price? Or what?

If you live in the city and have no opportunity to produce your own food, you have only two options - to come to terms with the situation and start buying less expensive food in smaller quantities. Another option is to consider relocating to a place where food can be grown, which would mean relocating to a smaller urban area. This has its advantages, not only because of the production of your own food, but also because of a healthier life due to less pollution and less life stress.

1. Buy a good amount of preserved goods. Canned goods that has years before expiration, and the like. Don't over-hoard though, don't forget that other people need food too!

Cans are very common for food storage, but like plastic they have one very negative feature - they contaminate food with BPA (bisphenol A). This is not something we do not know, but it should be borne in mind that such packaging is harmful and poisons food, although producers do not care about it, and the authorities are not too interested in tackling this problem. An ordinary person will always choose not to be hungry, no matter how unhealthy the food is.
4797  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kwik Trip To Install 800 New Bitcoin ATM on: May 22, 2022, 02:34:24 PM
Bruh!!! just above Lucius has quoted the line from the article:
Quote
Apart from Wisconsin, the aforementioned batch of Bitcoin kiosks will be installed in Minnesota, Illinois and Iowa.

It will seem difficult to convince some forum members that they should definitely read the article, but that there is no point in reading if they do not try to understand what it is really about.

It is actually bigger in land mass than most nations of the world, and California would have been 5th biggest economy of the world if it was a nation. So, I would say that putting all of it in just one state wouldn't be a bad idea if we are talking about the USA, they are a huge nation in land they cover.

A great nation with currently 33 344 crypto ATMs, and it seems to me that California is very well covered in that regard. If we take into account the fact that there are officially 37 472 crypto ATMs worldwide, I would say that the rest of the world is dangerously behind - or they are just smart and buy Bitcoin in some cheaper ways?

4798  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So my portfolio is down %70...too late to pull back now I guess on: May 22, 2022, 01:44:02 PM
This downtrend has been detrimental to my health (mental health). Exactly %70 just now. No lunch money type of money either.

You made a few mistakes when you invested in cryptocurrencies :

  • Never invest what you are not ready to lose, which means not gambling with money for lunch or food for your child.
  • First get well acquainted with what you are investing in, do not invest blindly because sooner or later you will fall into a hole from which you will find it difficult to get out.
  • Never buy during the bull market with the intention of a long-term investment, it is completely wrong and you could have learned it from history.

Have we ever experienced this kind of downtrend before?? What's the latest on how long this might last, or if it's even going to recover.

No one can tell you how long this crypto winter will last, although many predict we haven't reached the bottom yet. If nothing else, we all know that in 2 years there will be a new halving - and so far it has proven to be a starting point for a bull run. The market will recover one day, the question is do you have the patience not to sell by then.
4799  Economy / Economics / Re: Wheat War I is going to be World War III on: May 22, 2022, 01:15:53 PM
Happened with everyone in the former Warsaw pact, and it will change in a few years for the better and better.
It was the same around here, from Prague to Budapest to Warsaw, everyone was saying no more anything is produced, then it took a  few years and look, we're exporting things everywhere...

You did not take into account the population when it comes to Poland, Bulgaria or Romania compared to Croatia, which now has about 3.8 million inhabitants (400 000 less than 10 years ago). The problem is that there is no one to produce food, and the biggest landowners in the continental part of the country, believe it or not, are Russians. They got the land on the basis of a loan they gave to the largest Croatian company Konzum, which went bankrupt, and then the most valuable parts were divided between local and foreign vultures.

Speaking strictly about Croatia I must admit, I have no clue what type of land and what is being cultivated in all that former Yugoslav block, all my knowledge about agriculture has been confined north of the Danube, so it might be that you lack the land to produce wheat or maize or whatever. From my few trips there I picture it more like some olive oil whine country, more like Italy or Spain.

There is also the continental part of Croatia which is a large fertile lowland where grain, barley, corn, sunflower, and oilseed rape are grown with the potential to feed 20 million people - but it is the part of the country from which most people have emigrated. Quite another story is the Adriatic coast, they are developing because of tourism, and because of that they live much better than the rest of the country. The only problem they have is that they are missing as many as 30 000 workers this year.

It's exactly the same, a population that was at a center of a union suddenly saw the others don't want them anymore, the Serbs ruling Yugoslavia, the Russians ruling the Soviet Union. And when their former co-nationals don't want them anymore they forget the "brotherly" love and start butchering them like savages. And now they don't understand why everyone around them hates them.

30 years after the war, they still deny aggression, mass crimes, concentration camps, the fact that they killed over 400 children - and they are getting closer to joining the EU every day. Because of all this, I think that in the end Russia will profit from everything and that in some 20-30 years no one will talk about war and crimes - except of course the Ukrainians.

I am not sure if you mean I was banned before. Actually, I wasn't banned before. Solosanz reported my one post which was plagiarized. Then I edited that post and added the source link. After that, I was unable to find another one which caused me banned right now.

I know very well that you have not been banned before, and when I say that you had a second chance then I mean that you were warned to correct your mistakes, and from 2019 until today you have not done that. It sounds incredible to me that you failed to review a few dozen (and even a few hundred posts) in about 3 years...

In case you get a temporary or signature ban, my advice to you is to start reviewing your post history today - because it would be really tragicomic for someone to find you a plagiarized post after all this.
