481  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: March 28, 2024, 04:37:40 PM

Thank you all for yet another great week! Unfortunately there's been no new top up to the wallet so I've had to partially cover the payment for this week. As such I'm putting this campaign on HOLD and ask you all to remove your signatures and Avatars until I hear back from TheQuin/FreeBitcoin.
482  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Novosti on: March 28, 2024, 04:31:13 PM

483  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My DIY Seed Storage on a soda can Inspired by Pmalek's Guide on: March 28, 2024, 04:20:55 PM
You are the first person that has posted about using this. I didn't think anyone would. I personally find it too complicated, and aluminum isn't the right metal for long-term storage.
Did you print out the entire glyphs table (all the words) or just the ones needed for your seed backup?
You mentioned that your seed originates from a software wallet - a hot wallet, I am assuming. It would be a security improvement if the seed was generated on a good hardware wallet or an airgapped device.
484  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Recommended wallets on bitcoin.org on: March 28, 2024, 04:12:49 PM
What is missing in my opinion is the "Security" tab, because potential buyers should be aware that, for example, Trezor HW has an irreparable vulnerability that allows someone with physical access to the HW to extract the seed in a relatively easy way if it is not protected with a passphrase or the user uses an SD card for backup.
The key extraction isn't an easy thing. It's a relatively cheap thing and something you can do without too big of an investment. But it requires knowledge of what to do. If you are talking about laser fault injection for physical manipulation, it's not something that a person with no understanding of that can do based on a video released by Ledger's security team. And that video, like those similar to it, don't explain the step-by-step attack process, which is good.
485  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Recommended wallets on bitcoin.org on: March 27, 2024, 05:25:42 PM
It's an unusual choice of hardware wallets they have added on the site. Some point to specific models (Trezor Model T, Ledger Nano S, etc.), others don't specify the model and just mention the brand (Coldcard or Passport). Their criteria mentions many points related to security and how there must be proof of secure systems, libraries, etc. But with a closed-source unit like a Ledger, you can't check anything related to its firmware, and yet it's there among the recommendations.

What happened to it? Was it just like that when you turned it on or did you do something with it before that happened?
Everything on the screen looks inverted. I don't think it's your picture because the Jade imprint on the case looks normal.

Before you do anything, I would contact their customer support and explain everything in detail. Is the wallet still under warranty? If so, they must try to fix it for you or send you a replacement device.
487  Economy / Reputation / Re: Standing Strong Against Unjust Attacks: A Call for Community Support on: March 27, 2024, 04:47:28 PM
@JollyGood

Just drop it. It makes no sense trying to communicate with this individual in a normal way. Actually, it makes no sense trying to communicate with him in any other way either. You have noticed by now that there is only one way you can go about it. If he says something, you need to agree with that. Everyone else are signature spammers and stupid people. The moment when you dared to question him, you became a disappointment. I wonder why you are not a signature spammer like the rest of us?

Try it as a social experiment: Tell him the casino is a scammer and see the praises coming your way. Or, tell him how he is wrong and see how long it takes him to call you an idiot.
488  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Which is the Better Hardware Wallet for Beginners? on: March 27, 2024, 04:36:51 PM
They have virtual secure element that works similar like real physical chip and you don't have to trust other vendors, while keeping everything open source.
Yes, Blockstream's virtual secure element gets activated if you use the Jade as a standard hardware wallet with a seed onboard the device and an active PIN. If the Jade is used in its stateless signing capacity, then you have no contact with the virtual secure element, and you don't need to.
489  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Rant-Hardware Wallet Physical Quality on: March 27, 2024, 04:30:18 PM
Meet the most stringent safety requirements, particularly in the military sector

so they have blueprints of this military-grade thing uploaded somewhere right? hehe
Don't fall for that 'military-grade standard' or 'bank-vault security' slogans that companies and individuals like to boast with. They are just empty words meant to draw attention and make them seem better and more important than they are. Despite all those bank-grade security systems, banks all over the world keep getting hacked and experience leaks all over the place.
490  Economy / Exchanges / Re: eXch - instant exchange BTC / LN / XMR / LTC / ETH / ERC20 on: March 27, 2024, 04:21:59 PM
I would always suggest checking out and using eXch official onion link, this is harder to DDOS attack and it is better for privacy.
Better to bookmark onion link in Tor browser to avoid phishing attacks.
That's what I did. The exchange's official onion link is bookmarked on my end, but before I use it, I still check this thread and the clearnet site to see whether there was an announcement that something changed or happened to the old domain. Better late than sorry. It requires two extra steps, but I don't mind doing it.
491  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Which is the Better Hardware Wallet for Beginners? on: March 26, 2024, 04:44:31 PM
Jade is smaller and cheaper open source device, it is airgapped, but it doesn have physical secure element and it is a bit harder to enter characters with few buttons.
The lack of a secure element is one of its disadvantages. But it can also be an advantage, depending on how you look at things. People who are too worried about security can't be calm knowing that all secure elements are closed-source chips that require the users to sign NDAs, preventing them from revealing anything they discover from using such chips. The Jade makes up for the lack of secure element with its stateless signing option.

I am not a fan of the Jade's controller either. It's like a left and right-scrolling little joystick with a button to confirm actions. When entering your seed for instance, you'll have to move in an alphabetical order either up or down until you find the letter you want.

Another advantage for Jade is support for Liquid Network assets L-BTC, L-USDT, etc. that can be very handy when bitcoin fees are high.
It depends. If you already own the liquid bitcoin asset, it's a plus. If not, you'll have to make an on-chain transaction and pay high fees to swap your real BTC for L-BTC.
492  Other / Archival / Re: 🍁 [banned mixer] - Create your own BTC business / Become an Investor 💲 on: March 26, 2024, 03:40:05 PM
Maybe if @Pmalek can explain a bit more about [banned mixer] and what is the minimum investment they accept?
Is there a maximum too?

He should know since he carries the signature of [banned mixer].

oh sure also @icopress should be able to answer my question. I am so glad I found this thread.

Cheers
This isn't the place for your little games. You are not interested in Jambler, you are looking to poke me and icopress in the eye.
The answers to the questions you asked are available on the FAQ page. Not to mention, that the question was already asked and answered in this thread. The minimum investment is 0.04 BTC, the maximum one is 5 BTC per request. However, you can create several requests and invest multiple times.

Having said that, I am not going to answer any of your other questions in this thread.
Why? Because this is what your fragile mind has conjured up: You couldn't get me in trouble with icopress, so you tried to get icopress in trouble with another campaign he manages. Because that failed, you have now slightly changed your tactics. You are going to try to present icopress and myself as bad images to Jambler, hoping to provoke us into saying something nasty or not knowing/wanting to answer your questions. After that, you plan on asking Jambler why they would want us in their campaign and that it would be best to remove us because of how terrible we are.

Did I forget something?
Go away little boy, no one is interested.
493  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Rant-Hardware Wallet Physical Quality on: March 26, 2024, 03:19:07 PM
tangem has no battery. power provided on action via nfc. looks like they have their apps on github so idk what you meant closed source
The addition or lack of a battery doesn't add to the security of a hardware device. You have no idea how your keys were generated and using what entropy. Everything related to the Tangem is closed-source. More information is available on Wallet Scrutiny. Unless you can build everything from the provided source code and the firmware is publicly available and verifiable, it's not open-source. Many closed-source projects have GitHubs, but they are not very useful for the actions I just mentioned.

so you can use billfodl as private key storage . and you can reuse it
If you take a look at Jameson Lopp's Billfodl stress test, you will notice that it failed the heat and crush test. It didn't get a good grade.
494  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Which is the Better Hardware Wallet for Beginners? on: March 26, 2024, 03:04:42 PM
However, if you prioritize advanced security features and affordability, Coldcard could be the preferred choice.
I personally wouldn't put the Coldcard in the affordable category. The Mk4 model costs $158. If you buy it with bitcoin, then you can get a 5% discount. The upcoming Coldcard Q1 was $200 as a pre-order, but this model is still not out for general sale.

My first hardware wallet was a Ledger Nano S but it had very limited and poor support for passphrases which is why later I replaced it with a Trezor.
What was the problem with the passphrase feature of the Nano S. Ledger allows you to access the passphrase-protected accounts in two ways: You can either enter the entire passphrase or connect the passphrase to a secondary PIN. So the next time you unlock your Ledger, you enter the second PIN instead of the primary one. Which option did you use?

I don't know if they look cheapish in hand or not, but I'd still go for one of them over a Coldcard if I was a beginner and those were the only two choices.
Me too. But we get a lot of complaints on the build quality of hardware wallets on this forum. And people are generally not very careful, even with more expensive items like smartphones. The Jade doesn't look to me like a sturdy-enough unit to withstand everyday use. And the price gives it away.

No, thanks. I don't use it. And even if I did, I wouldn't use it to trade with someone I don't know. The only way we could possibly strike a deal is via the forum's PM system.

Im interested for deal this
Thanks for the offer but I am not interested.
496  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Rant-Hardware Wallet Physical Quality on: March 25, 2024, 07:24:18 PM
i do not trust this stuff too.
What stuff exactly?

you can use tangem , ballet or billfodl
Tangem is closed-source. Why would you trust that if you don't trust some other solutions?

Ballet is not a hardware wallet. It falls under the paper wallet category regardless of what material it's made out of. This isn't a trustless solution. Someone else generated your private keys and placed those keys on the cards you buy. You have to trust those people not to do anything nasty, like keeping a copy of all generated private keys. It wouldn't be the first time something like that happened with these sort of things.

And Billfodl isn't a wallet in any type of form. It's a steel plate for backing up your seed phrase.

498  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Which is the Better Hardware Wallet for Beginners? on: March 25, 2024, 04:52:26 PM
My plan is to start with Jade and then upgrade to the Coldcard as i grow and advances in my understanding and involvement with Bitcoin
Starting with Jade isn't a bad idea, but if you want my advice, and I think many other users would agree, I would say that your upgrade should be towards the Foundation Passport instead of the Coldcard. Both are pretty pricey and ship from North America, and you should take that into consideration when you make your decision. I prefer buying such devices from the official shops, but know that you will pay a premium for that depending on where you live.
499  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Koji bi bio najbolji BTC+ALT coin novčanik ? on: March 25, 2024, 04:46:34 PM
Dosta ljudi više voli koristiti multi-coin wallete zbog jednostavnosti.

Jel netko drugi probao?

eXch is back online now under the .cx domain. The temporary .pw domain redirects to the .cx domain. I also tested to TOR version of the exchange and it also loads fine. Whatever attack there was, it seems to have been resolved.

@eXch
Last week you made changes to your OP and pointed all links to the .pw domain. Will it remain like that from now on?
