Bauchgefühl, Ähnlichkeit der Kurskurve mit den Entwicklungen vor den letzten Blasen... Bin zu faul für echte TA oder Fundamentalanalyse, ich beobachte den Kurs aus Interesse ohne große Emotionen oder Investitionen :-) Bitcoin ist für mich im Moment vor allem ein hochinteressantes Experiment auf verschiedensten Gebieten von Psychologie über Soziologie/Politik bis zur Ökonomie. Egal wie es ausgeht, kann ich eine Menge lernen; wenn der Kurs steigt, ist die kleine Bitcoin-Menge in meiner Wallet auch noch richtig was wert, und wenn nicht, hab ich nicht viel verloren, das wäre es auf jeden Fall wert gewesen. You should also reconsider your view that electricity is free (unless you have a magical "free energy" generator). Even if you don't pay for it, someone does.
Most consumers of "free" electricity actually have a kind of "flat rate" for electricity that's bundled with their dorm or apartment rent, but this normally covers normal usage only. Whether running a miner constitutes normal usage is a question that your landlord can answer. Consuming several hundred watts 24/7 is most likely not covered and could get you into trouble.

Cracking a bitcoin address with CPU is simple but takes a long time. With enough CPU I imagine an address per month would be a decent timeframe.

Now that I've made Backup #2, is Backup #1 still valid? I am assuming that both Backups are valid, but I have to use the appropriate password with the two different sets of encrypted private keys. If this is is true, I'd like to just get rid of my Backup #2 and stick with my original backup. Can you please confirm that this will not be a problem?
Non-authoritative answer: You can verify a backup at any time to see whether it could be imported. So when you've done that with backup #1, and Mycelium says the backup is good, you can destroy backup #2. Onkel Paul |

Asking for advice after you've already thrown the money out the window won't bring your money back - you should have asked before, most folks here would probably have told you to be cautious as ROI is likely to be low or negative.
I'm afraid I can't give you well-founded advice as I know too little about how to mine economically. My gut feeling would be to try to sell the hardware for a reasonable price to reduce losses, and stop mining. A few months ago I would probably have suggested to look out for profitable alt coins, switching between them to maximize profit, but I fear that time is over.

Unwahrscheinlich, dieses Forum ist recht tolerant, was die Mods angeht. Aber einen Spell-Checker darfst du trotzdem benutzen (oder vor dem Posten noch mal den Beitrag lesen), ist angenehmer für die Augen  Ansonsten - was für Feedback erwartest du? Wenn du einen Miner hast, wirst du hoffentlich vorher eine Rentabilitätsrechnung gemacht haben und ungefähr wissen, dass damit bei den Energiekosten hier in D-Land kein Vermögen zu verdienen ist (wenn man denn überhaupt die Investition wieder reinbekommt). Als Hobby ist das natürlich ok - andere geben deutlich mehr für ihr Hobby aus, und was einem Spaß macht, darf man ja zum Glück immer noch selbst entscheiden. Und für den Bitcoin-Dschungel wirst du kaum einen Führer finden, der dir sagt, wo's langgeht, wenn du nicht sagst, wo du hinwillst :-) Onkel Paul |

Wenn du ein Android Phone hast, könnte Mycelium Wallet mit deren localtrader Mechanismus eine Option sein. Damit kann man Leute in der Nähe (na ja, wenn man bereit ist, ein paar Kilometer zu fahren...) ausfindig machen, die Bitcoins anbieten, normalerweise zu einem gemittelten Kurs aus verschiedenen Börsen plus einem kleinen Aufschlag.
Der eigentliche Handel läuft dann bei einem direkten Treffen, da sollte man die üblichen Sicherheitsempfehlungen beim Treffen mit Unbekannten beachten (keine unbelebten Ecken bei Dunkelheit usw.), also z.B. in einem Café treffen und ein bisschen klönen, dann kann das recht nett sein.

The question is probably not what currency you want to keep your money in, but whether you want to have it in a bank account that could be locked or subjected to a haircut. Except for the inflation, pesos are probably as good as any money for buying stuff locally (if you happen to live in Argentina). For international business, wealthy people and businesses probably use US Dollars anyway. The problem is that even USD held by Argentinians might be taken away from them to repay (part of) the countries' debt if the bank accounts are accessible to the lenders. Vorweg: Ich habe keine Erfahrung mit localbitcoins, nur mit Mycelium local trader.
Generall sollte man auf eine sichere Umgebung achten (genügend Leute drumrum, so dass man nicht ausgeraubt werden kann).
Personalausweis sollte bei Bitcoin-gegen-Bargeld eigentlich nicht nötig sein, aber wenn es sich um größere Summen handelt, kann es sein, dass der Bitcoin-Verkäufer sich absichern will für den Fall, dass du ihm Blüten andrehst.
Abzockmöglichkeiten gibt es natürlich immer wieder, die Abzocker sind kreativ. Aber wenn man darauf achtet, dass keiner sich aus dem Staub machen kann, bevor der Austausch komplett ist (BTC in der Wallet des Käufers, Geld beim Verkäufer), müsste das eigentlich reichen. Das Schöne an persönlichen Transaktionen ist ja, dass es für beide Seiten keine Möglichkeit gibt, ihren Teil des Handels rückgängig zu machen, wie es bei Paypal etc. möglich ist.

No, we're absolutely not there yet - the current "stability" is basically an "undecided" phase within the speculative phase.
As long as bitcoin isn't an established mechanism for financial transactions, it's price will vary wildly, driven by speculation. However, if and when we get into a phase of true price stability and wide adoption of bitcoin, its price will be much higher than today because it otherwise couldn't hold the liquidity in real value that's required to support the transaction volume.

And why you think that selling PGP signature is somehow harder than selling a forum account?  You're right, any kind of identifying mechanism (except unforgeable physical features) can be sold, shared and/or stolen, this includes PGP keys. But I would assume that people using PGP would think more than twice before selling/sharing their private keys. Price manipulation needs quite a bit of liquid assets, so you would only do that if your profit from the changed price can exceed the costs of the price manipulation.
Just asking more for your bitcoins when you try to sell them would not really work, market mechanism determine the actual price, not individual bitcoin sellers.
The most promising approach to increasing the bitcoin price would be to offer more goods and services in exchange for bitcoins, making it more attractive for people to own bitcoins and pay with them. This would work best for services that can't be handled well with traditional payment methods, which is why the unfortunate link between silk road or gambling/betting and bitcoins exists. SR certainly caused some of the bitcoin price increase.
With the recent adoption of bitcoin payment options by more mainstream businesses, the price will hopefully increase while the shady image of bitcoin as payment for illegal stuff will be corrected somewhat.
