482  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner USB group buy REOPENED! (previous customers only!) .175 per unit! on: August 02, 2013, 03:23:17 AM

483  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New US-based ASIC Bitcoin Mining Hardware Manufacturer - ASIC Technologies on: August 02, 2013, 03:09:09 AM
I just placed an order with them. I am willing to test their credibility by trusting them with $300. If they're legitimate, they will ship me a 10 GH/s bitcoin miner within this month. If not, then I will publicly denounce the asictechnologies.com website and label them as a SCAM. For them, it's do or die because I don't give up when I get scammed.  Wink

Was their PayPal confirm? at least...

ASICTechnologies I could tell for a fact that the demand is here. But their been afew fake sites that are just scamming users.

But if you are able to produce a legit version of the first one, I will be buying at least 10 units.

484  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: *TEST RESULTS* ASICMiner The Block Erupter USB Sapphire [1 Hour Test @BitMinter] on: August 02, 2013, 12:07:03 AM
I thought that was the speeds the original ones achieved, or have these been out for a while?

Its the Sapphire Edition. Its the newest model.

They are rumors that they are developing a new one which should be around 3x more at 900+Mhps. Not sure.

Thank for the reply.
485  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: *TEST RESULTS* ASICMiner The Block Erupter USB Sapphire [1 Hour Test @BitMinter] on: August 01, 2013, 11:58:39 PM
One small issue... You are running the GPU too. It's only an nVidia card that does 1Mh/s, but it does taint your results slightly. I think your avarage should be about 1Mh/s lower Wink

About the miscalculation Mh/s drop, I think it's because of the architecture of any processor. If something goes wrong, the pipelines are dropped and refilled.
Since SHA256 hashing is a fairly long set of instructions, the pipeline is also long and you lose a relatively large amount of work.

It's kinda hard to explain. I think it's best to take a look at Steve Jobs' video on "the Mhz Myth". It explains the drawbacks of long pipelines perfectly, and why that lowers speed temporarily whenever a miscalculation (or a branch) happens.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKF9GOE2q38

The GPU was disable, before I began the test. But should of have reset it. But Forgot. Never the less, I only provide the ASIC Results.  Wink

Thanks for the Video will check it out...
486  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: reverse engineering ASIC miners on: August 01, 2013, 07:23:22 AM
what architecture are the block erupters?

I know for a fact that in china they are already selling the pcb boards.

Im pretty sure if you talk to them and send them one, they will clone it. They already have the board.

Let me know if you want the info.

488  Bitcoin / Mining / *TEST RESULTS* ASICMiner The Block Erupter USB Sapphire [1 Hour Test @BitMinter] on: August 01, 2013, 12:35:13 AM
I receive my first USB Miner "The Block Erupter" 2nd Gen. Today (07-31-2013)

Being that I haven't seen a post of the result of the device.

//Details
ASIC USB Miner Erupter - 1 unit
BitMinter Pool
BitMinter Client v1.4.0

First Hour.
0:10Min.  --  336.8 Mhps at for the fist 10mins was solid.
0:30Min.  --  281.5 Mhps at 30min mark. (But only stayed their for 45sec.) Then Jump to 325.8 Mhps and climb.
0:40Min.  --  335.9 Mhps
0:50Min.  --  337.3 Mhps
1:00Hour --  336.7 Mhps

Average Speed
336.6 Mhps.

BitMinter
For some reason BitMinter website doesn't accurately show the results or at least the results that the Client shows.

BitMinter Client Results
Accepted:  278
Rejected:  0
Miscalculation:  5
Works Unites:  539

Noticeable Issue
What I notice is that every time it did a miscalculation the Mhps drop down to the 200's Mhps or lower for around 5sec. then it climb back up after words.

BitMinter Client shot at the 1st Hour.

BitMinter Web shot at the 1st Hour.

Miscalculation Drop.

490  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Does it neccesary to backup wallet every time? on: July 30, 2013, 10:19:49 PM
I'm new to bitcoin.

But after running Bitcoin QT for a while, and reading about paper wallets, backups, and so on.

I figure a online wallet will be better, I check with a few providers and I decided to go with blockchain.

they give allot of options for backup, including paper wallet.

If something goes wrong with your computer, you forgot to backup, you lost your private key. you'll be in trouble.

Allot of people think that Bitcoin QT /offline is a better option. But I think having it online is better way to manage it.

NOW IM MIGHT BE WRONG. BEEN MINING AND USING BITCOIN FOR A WEEK. -- SO DONT TAKE MY WORD.

sorry for the caps, lol.
491  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: new hardware on: July 30, 2013, 10:04:41 PM
The new thing is ASIC mining, which could produce from 300mhash/s all the way up to 60GHs/s each.

But the price it high for ASIC miners thought.

Some of the nice ones run $2000 all the way to $25,000, and unless you purchase one half a year ago, you wont be getting any one any time soon. Sad

I purchase a ASIC Miner The Block Erupter USB, which guarantees me a 300mhash/s.

I only order 1 if I see some returns I'm going to order more.

I should be getting Block Erupter in the next few days.
492  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: first time mining (some questions) on: July 30, 2013, 09:53:04 PM
Im not an expert and far from it...

Been mining a week, I figure unless you have  big rigs with $300/each video cards (GPU's) its not very cost effective.

But I purchase a ASIC miner which gets 300 mhash/s and only uses 2.5kw, I still haven't set it up, but it going to give 10x more than what my computer was giving, and less energy.

So my NOOB opinion will be get ASIC Miners but not sure it works with Silver. I know it will work for Gold.
493  Other / Beginners & Help / Which miner is better GUIMiner or BitMinter? on: July 30, 2013, 09:44:35 PM
I new to mining...
I have been working with BitMinter and Slush's Pool.

So I been using the BitMinter Client for BitMinter  and GUIMiner for Slush's Pool.

What I notice was that with GUIMiner I get more mhash/s than I do with BitMinter.

Do anybody know why?

Also is it possible to mine at BitMinter with GUIMiner?

Thanks for you reply guys...

495  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will any litecoin hit a good value? on: July 30, 2013, 07:16:30 PM
I been looking into it.

Being that Bitcoins are getting harder to mine. But even though its listed above >$3.xx  Nobody is accepting them as cash currency as-to bitcoin.

I couldn't find a legit provider that trade Litecoin for cash.

So its a risk im guessing.  But im planning to set my computer to mine litecoin and my Erupters to mine bit coin at the same time.

I don't mine using my computer as it always on, mining or not.

I figure better mine some now and not wait until it gets harder. Maybe in the feature it will be worth something. Wink
496  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How many bitcoins do you have? on: July 30, 2013, 07:09:06 PM

I had more than double last night but something happened with BitMinter, not sure what, I just contact them.
497  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Coinbase vs BitcoinQT for wallet? on: July 30, 2013, 05:57:49 AM
If I was mining, I would create a paper wallet. It will likely be awhile before you have a significant amount, just let it go to the paper wallet while it builds up coins until you have enough to make it worth importing.

Whats a paper wallet?

Sorry im a noob. I began last week. :-/
498  Other / Beginners & Help / Coinbase vs BitcoinQT for wallet? on: July 30, 2013, 03:53:31 AM
I'm new to bitcoin. Been mining for a few days now, with my old computer.

My question is should I use coinbase or BitcoinQT? or which one do you consider to be better.

And hello everybody...
