481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which one will make us rich in 12 months? on: February 01, 2014, 01:54:16 PM
I think the coins that will make it are those with absolutely no premine. It wont be one coin, it will be several (unfortunately) but I thiknk 5~10 will survive in 10 years and there will always be 100s of altcoins coming, wasting people's hashrate and going to ZERO.

Premined coin is complete scam if you ask me. Its like saying those who are in the US Mint making the new $100 bills are allowed to take a few BILLION because of their hard work and for giveaways and stuff while the rest of you have to work hard, spend $10 on electricity and get 400 coins daily. Then the developers start slowly shifting their own coins to BITCOIN and telling you to hold on because it will go to the mars.  DOGE, BIT, NET and LITE were not premined thats why they made it so far.

If you ask me the only coins I see are those four (DOGE, BIT, NET and LITE) that will make it through these altcoin failures that end up miners with hige electricity bills and nothing in coins really like those who mined MOON when it was 30 Satoshi and watch it fall and they STILL mine it for some dumb reason. Heck there are even people minig TAG while is a 100% scam and it was even removed from coinwarz.
482  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Official Neocoin thread - Innovative PoS/PoW Coin with instant messages on: February 01, 2014, 08:42:28 AM
Cryptcoins has opened a NeoCoin pool today:

neo.cryptcoins.net

-Proportional payout per block based on your share ratio to the pool's total shares for each block.
-Vardiff Stratum.
-Work that finds the block is awarded 2% off the top.

That's a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE thieve pool. During the past 1hr I was supposed to make 54 coins based on my hashrate and difficulty it only paid me 12!! I mean its worse than MULTIPOOL and I never knew thats even possible.

anyone know an honest pool for this coin? like dogehouse.org for DOGE or bitcoop.tk for NET? those pools pay me 100% of what I calculate. No cheating.
483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which one is the Best Motherboard for 5x [ 290X ] ? on: January 31, 2014, 09:37:44 PM
Beautiful setup. What are you using to hook up two PSUs?

Isn't 1200W x2 a but overkill? I assume you got this setup for the 6+2 pins you needed. I mean you need 12 x 6+2 plus 6 molex. That a lot.

Also only two risers are powered? What about the rest?

Each card takes arround 300w + board + risers. So 2400w are perfect for this rig. And like you said i needed 6 x 8+6 pcie connectors to power my cards. I only use 2 powered risers on the 6 card setup, my other 4 card boards are running with normal risers for months without any trouble.

Your four cards are pulling 4,500 = 300W from mother board.  The motherboard only has 75W for 16x and 25W for 1x. Don't understand how that is working for months.

Also 3x300W per GPU plus say 200W for mb that's 1100W
The other PSU Powering 3x300W GPUs could be 900 or 1000W.

I'm just saying maybe the is a way too avoid 1200W and higher PSUs that add so much to the cost.

Someone claimed he dies two 850W for 5x 290 rig all pwered risers but don't know if that's true. I'm buying parts for similar system so I'm ring to find the cheapest solution.

485  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER ASIC FPGA miner monitoring RPC linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 3.12.0 on: January 31, 2014, 03:58:36 AM
Unofficial Mac binaries have been updated for v3.12.0 and are available here.

These are precompiled universal binaries that support Mac OS X 10.5.8 through 10.9+.
Thanks for that. I take it that means the new libusb included compiled ok on osx without a problem then which I was worried about.

Why did you stop supporting GPU mining? I mean isn't that most of the miners? Those who bought thousands in ASIC hardware now have nothing to mine with it profitably except maybe CTM? While that is happening scrypt mining is very profitable.

I think if ASIC for scrypt comes out, another version of coins will fork off that will be GPU only similar to what LTC started.
486  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: WTF? Enermax 1500W atx 2.4 platinum! atx 2.4 and platinum vs 2.3 bronze psu? on: January 31, 2014, 01:11:14 AM
dont bother with add2psu.it just uses peoples' lack of knowledge for simple wiring you can do for less than a dollar.

Thanks for that note.  I always thought that's a gimmick!
487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NETcoin UP +236.95 % today!! WTF on: January 31, 2014, 12:29:53 AM
Looks like after Cryptsy held on to hundreds of thousands of NET deposits and released them all at once,  we had a 7% drop down to 1400 Satoshi. Now we are recovering quickly and the price is rising with light chatter building up on coinex troll box.

Now question is: How much do you guys anticipate this could jump after the 37 days halving?  Considering the fact that the halving date is publicly known and the price will slowly rise from now until then and will not suddenly jump on that particular day. Right now it's been quiet while everyone is busy with other coins.

This could be a serious contender to BTC and LTC with DOGE remaining the joke.  I can't imagine Target one day accepting Doge but NET is different.
488  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Who cares about the exchange vs electricity? Really? on: January 30, 2014, 07:43:59 PM
I don't understand this thread. Can someone please enlighten me?  How is it that electricity cost is an issue? My flimsy 2500kh gpu rig makes DOGE that I still immediately for about $25/day that's after my exuberant $5.40 electric cost from my 1250W rig.
489  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Should i buy a butterfly monarch. on: January 30, 2014, 07:35:25 PM
I asked the dude at BFL both at CES why would you sell this hardware that makes $200/day for only $2100 bucks??

His answer was "we don't have the space and power to mine with them"

His answer should have been "we make you pay for it,  we will build it , wont ship when ready, instead mine with it and send it to you when it makes only $2/day and at that time that $2" is the electricity cost. "
490  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Should i buy a butterfly monarch. on: January 30, 2014, 07:28:17 PM
If you really want to mine and see the most bitcoins for your dollar, do the following:

1. Download Bitcoin-Qt wallet from bitcoin.org, install it, and download the blockchain.

2. Use whatever money you may spend on the BFL Monarch to instead purchase bitcoins directly.

3. Receive bitcoins to your Bitcoin-Qt wallet. Be sure to follow all proper security precautions.

4. Open the debug menu in Bitcoin-Qt, go to the console, and type "setgenerate true" and then press enter.

You are now mining, and you have more bitcoins than you'd ever likely receive with a Monarch.

What's the reason for step two? ? He doesn't need to buy bitcoins to mine them. You are telling him to go spend $800 on a single BTC? You also are telling him to mine BTC that happens to be the worse coin to mine?

If hedoesn't want to buy dedicated hardware, then he should mine doge with GPU rig and convert to BTC immediately as he mines them.
491  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Should i buy a butterfly monarch. on: January 30, 2014, 07:22:25 PM
Im a noob but i understand the system. Should i buy tt. Will ot make a profit within a month.

If you had the 600gh/s card you could make 1BTC in 5.5 days. That's a ROI in only 11 days.  If you really think BFL is going to hand you such hardware for 1.9BTC when difficulty is still hovering in this range then you are deeply mistaken.

What happens is that you will fund the hardware, BFL gets it built with YOUR money,  mine the crap out of it and ship it to you when 600GH/s makes one BTC in 550 days. Very simple.

Also if you build a GPU miner you will have good resale value let's say 50% of what you put in.  With dedicated hardware your resale value is pretty much zero when the thing can't make BTC faster than one in 1800 years.  See what happened to those $60 USB miners? Worthless now.

What would be the current best (stable & lasting) MOBO to support 5 or (maybe 6) Sapphire 290X.
Which brand recommended for power supply (I assume 2x) 750 etc.

Thanks

Here are two R9 290 left $487 directly sold by amazon:

The best board i found so far: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3, cheap, no presence jumper needed and very easy to setup. I am running 4 of this boards with 6x290, 4x290, 4x290, 5x280x. To run 6x290s you need windows 8.1 with all updates, has its own driver for 290/290x. Dont use AMDs driver.

My setup for 6x290s:

Board: GA-990FXA-UD3
Processor: AMD FX-4300
Ram: Kingston DDR3-1600 (2x4Gb)
HD: SSD Kingston 120Gb V300
Power: 2 x Thermaltake Smart w1200
Wifi: Tp-link mini 300Mbps USB
GPUs: 2 x Sapphire R9 290x + 4 XFX R9 290
Riser: 2 x1-1 powered + 4 x16-16
O.S.: Windows 8.1 Enterprise
CGminer 3.7.2

494  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: Best Dogecoin pool on: January 29, 2014, 07:46:22 AM
I tried many. Stay a mile away from multipool you would be shocked at how little they pay you compared to what you calculate you should be getting on a 24hr period. Same with netcodepool and a few others I wasted my rig time with for a while.

Dogehouse.org is my favorite.
495  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to mine Dogecoin using Digitalocean Cloud VPS on: January 26, 2014, 10:52:01 AM
Isnt it better to buy a 6970 for $75 off craigslist and mine at 477kh/s and sell it after a month for $75? Thats like the cloud mining suggested here for 10 years but with zero cost.

Disclaimer, Im doing just that except Im not selling the 6970s. AND the 6970s I bought from a gamer already are in demand for $175/ea.

Can we set up donation campaign for the 350+ workers locked out of Ikea for over 6 months?  I live in the area so I could get in touch with them and deliver it if necessary.

F the unions and their CIGAR SMOKING MOB BOSSES. F them all they destroyed American Automobile Industry. This is not the 1920s, you want a better job more money then learn a trade or get education and stop drinking BEER all day and wine your way back to the UNION boss and their clumsy RATs.
497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Starting mining altcoins on: January 25, 2014, 12:55:25 AM
I'm thinking about buying this rig, for 1300.

MB: Giga Byte GA-H61M-DS2H Rev. 2.0
CPU: Intel Celeron DualCore G1620
RAM: 16GB value
GPU: 4x Sapphire 7970 reference design (all at low 70's, produces 736kh/s each) 3.2Mh/s total
PSU: Corsair 1200W
HDD: Small factor 40GB preinstaled win7 64bit
one usual 16x-16x riser, 3x 1x-16x risers.

These are the 3 things i need help with.
1.I kind of want to know the difference between mining bitcoin and altcoins.
2.He already has everything setup and all i have to do is connect it to my mining pool. It is supposed to automatically mine the most profitiable cryptocurrency, but i want to know the profibility of it.
3. Is all i do plug it in and join my pool and then just let it mine away?
I appreciate any help, and thank you in advance.

Thats dirt cheap. I will buy it from you for that much right now. Thats a 2800kh/s RIG similar one sells for $2,500~$3,500 on eBay.

There are 2 ways to do the pool mining:

1) Join Multipool.com or middlecoin.com and let them manage it for you, this is the lazy way and least profitable of the three. These pools claim to take 1% fee but practically take about 50% of what you really make. You have no control over what they pay you.

2) Join other pools that are less known and have an account with a pool per coin. This is harder because its hard to find honest pools. It took me forever to find these pools that actually dont steal from me: a. for doge I use DOGEHOUSE.ORG b. for MOON I use bit34.com and c. for NETCOIN I use bitcoop. t k (sorry I had to breakup the URL like that). 4. for LOTTO I use lot.nut2pools.com. Now you have to watch coinwarz.com multiple times a day to switch between profitable coins. If a coin shows profitable but the difficulty shows -84%, thats a temporary move, DONT SWITCH to that coin. Some major pool probably is reseting its servers. Soon the difficulty will jump back up and your profitability drops.

Once you mine you have to decide what to do with the coins.

1) conservative. Send your coins little by little to Crypsty during the day and sell them for BTC and move them in your home laptop wallet. I convert everything I make to NETCOIN because its going to half in 40 days and I am hoping everything I mined would double.

2) aggressive. Do the above but instead of sending it to your home laptop wallet, convert the BTC to other speculative coins and trade with it. You can win or lose so that's another game. It could be just as profitable as your mining so you could lose all your mining efforts by trading the wrong coins.

well, I made .33 btc in a month with 106kh/s so I'm not doing too bad, but I always drop a coin right before it takes off big, or mine a coin that drops off the face of the earth. And now, I'm nearly spastic since tiger direct is taking BTC now!! I can afford about a quarter of my computer build off BTC alone!! need more tho, always need more.

You are either a genius, very lucky solo miner or a liar. I have aggresively switched pools and mined for the past month (my first month) with kh ranging from 900 the first ten days to 2800 the next 20 days after I got my 7970 cards and I am only at 0.56 BTC after a month. Most of my mining goes to pools who dont pay out as they should (cheat, steal). So I dont know how the F you did it with your hashrate of 106!!
