481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL] Profit switching pool for PND and DOGE - multi.pandapool.info on: April 26, 2014, 07:48:49 PM
Im trying to mine on this pool but whatever pool info I give cgminer 3.7.2 ... it just says "stratum auth failed" or something along those lines. I tried all pool addresses and even tried the default PND addy provided in the example. Help?

Issue has been taken to IRC.

http://cryptocoinrank.com/Pandacoin has been added to the OP.

My mining rig alone doubles my household electricity usage and that's with 2 adults and 2 children. I was considering quitting mining due to the costs vs low BTC price. Before gox shit itself and BTC took a nose dive because of recent chinese propaganda, I was laughing all the way to the bank... I didn't have to worry about how much power I was using. Now I'm making a loss each and every day for the past 3 months and it's really caused me to reconsider my position as a miner. Point is, don't dwell on the past... rather evolve and go with the flow or you'll be left behind.

Just my 2PND worth...

If you are losing money by mining, why not buying coins directly from exchanges? Just to secure the network? There is not much point of securing PND network as the hashing rate is so low. Anybody with 100MH/s can attack it easily.

Make everyone think like this and you're left with no miners. Every hash is important at this point.
484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Pandacoin PND thread - Second chapter [Scrypt | KGW | 0% PREMINE | Multipool] on: April 26, 2014, 01:36:57 PM
noooo the dumpers returned!  Cheesy Cheesy

Lets hope they all will be sorry in a few weeks time  Smiley

well... 0.3-0.4ltc (1mil pnd) a day per mhs is nice profit nowadays... we need hash to rise with the price... not price alone... or it will be dumped...

At least our 200 LTC whale got us some attention regarding the market cap.

As for the hashrate - I'm not too sure why miners seem to deliberately ignore PND now that it has made a nice stunt on the market. Is there anything I'm missing?

From my perspective, there are many things why miners ignore PND. such as:
1) PND is not placed on coinwarz.
2) Scrypt ASICs are on the way, hundreds of Scrypt coin will die.
3) the previous point two brings us to: Why to mine PND when there is DOGE
4) their bad PR, Devs do not communicate with the community, the community does not know about their plans for the future, or the latest news. Now it's a little better, before that it was terrible
5) the summer is coming, for the miners is more suitable to mine coins with less greedy algorithms, less power consumption.
6) many miners have ended due to the current poor exchange rate of BTC

1) Thanks for pointing that out. Guess I'll contact them about it.
2) They also make mining more profitable, even if it's for a short time. I'm expecting the hashrate to increase at least for the current major players.
3) The profitability is often higher than with DOGE actually, see https://cointweak.com/calculator/index/scrypt.
4) Whenever there's an update on anything we're doing it will be and has been posted here at the very least. You would be right about twitter and facebook being deserted but this should be fixed now.
5) Which brings in asics into play, see the reply to point 2.
6) Fair point since there's no BTC market available. LTC still exists and it won't really matter what the coin is traded it. That said you shouldn't mine the coin to dump it right away.

Pandacoin is now listed here: http://www.cryptocoinrank.com/Pandacoin

how about this for official quote?

"i will kick a panda in the bollocks if i have to"

or if your looking for something to put in a chinese haiku thing then use this or if someone asks you where you got the quote from tell them its from king blings great haiku from 1914

"pandas and coin is great,
but at the end of the day
if it comes to me, i will go at it.
i will kick a panda in the bollocks if i have to"

I'm not so sure about the appeal about either of these.

Version 1.6.1 (minor) has been released and is available on http://thepandacoin.net.

It (should) fix the sync bug some Windows users were experiencing. Additionally all build dependencies have been updated.

Point the difference between PANDA and PND.

Hello. I happen to be one of the developers of PND. Would you be so nice to introduce me to the dev team of PANDA?

There you go.

I am interested in the coin, where I can buy?

It is currently available on the following markets:

https://allcrypt.com
https://xnigma.com/markets/view/59
https://swisscex.com/market/PND_LTC
https://mintpal.com/market/PND/LTC

I personally prefer and can recommend the last two (mintpal and swisscex).

Let the shitcoin die. For god's sake.
You guys like to throw money in the toilet dont you ?

Thank you for the constructive and thought out contribution.

It appears as though the owner of cryptokk took off with everyone's coins and shut down the service. I hope none of you had any PND or any other coins stored at this exchange... I did not bother using it since the overall appearance of the site looked rather 'dodgy' Grin

More info available here

You should remove the exchange from the OP.

Thanks for noticing this. OP is updated.

Excited to see the devs working on relaunching this coin. Keep up the good work and continue on the rebranding by further integrating the logo into the homepage, twitter, mining pool pages and other social media accounts like facebook.

I come from a PR background and would like to volunteer my services and expertise to help make this coin succeed. I see areas where it could be improved. PM for details if you like to take up my offer.
I am just a would be Pandacoin helper myself but what I have found here is Everyone is welcome to become panda and join in and help.  We may want to consider having a committee of Official Pandacoin helpers and more community structure in the future but our Dev has been doing a great job of making things work well so far.  Please keep us posted here as a group of any particulars and your perspective of priority, I have noticed more and more the rebranded coin look is showing up to at least some degree just about everywhere.  There is much to do, thanks to anyone who can offer good ideas or specialty services that would help the Pandacoin image, the Pandacoin DEV / team or the Pandacoin community. Lets just all agree to work with our dedicated and professional DEV as he directs the Pandacoin team and helpers to realise the continued development, growth in use and acceptance of our Pandacoin PND.

I'm already in contact with the author of that message so the marketing side of things (official relations, twitter, facebook) is currently being worked on, but more on that later.

I can agree on the lack of structure as of now but as you said, everyone is welcome to contribute, should he/she so desire. Often I've seen requests about starting a foundation with PND so that will be on the to-do list.

One thing I'd like everyone reading this to do is join #officialpandacoin on freenode.

The dumpers aren't going to let it happen unfortunately...

Which makes me wonder since the multipool will eventually buy up their order at better prices later on so just having it sit a bit higher in the list would yield a better profit altogether.
499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Should PandaCoin (PND) add PoS? on: April 22, 2014, 02:35:09 PM
I'm curious in merge mining, but are we actually in talks with doge folks? are they on board at all?

It's more efficient to first determine what we actually want. Splitting efforts would be counterproductive right now.

does that mean we can rely on doge miners to keep the pnd network going, and people who really want pnd can just mine on the multipool?

Since it's our network we are also responsible for keeping it going. Since we would be receiving hashrate out of goodwill and from people setting up the appropriate/patched pool software even more so.
