Can someone more darkcoin-technical look at this? It's dressed up to look very respectable, was just posted to reddit and will likely be spammed lots by the next wave of trolls. We should have a response ready.

There is no interest....just looking for fuel for the pump

IMO that would be cool if you guys stop posting in the XC threads, official or not, the trolls are waiting for an excuse to deflect and spread FUD. Their investors are grown men and women and will take their responsibility if something goes wrong. I don't care.

To summarize, for those coins devs mudslinging is easier than innovation ! Pay trolls to gain investors. I would not entrust a cent to someone with that mindset.

Yeah right you hold some DRK... That's the introduction before every FUD. Be more creative.

Note: The network may currently cause syncing issues due to the hard fork.

If your wallet fails to update to the latest block, do the following:

0. just a reminder: backup your wallet.dat (regularly do this)
1. make sure that your DarkCoin.app resides in your Applications folder and is closed
2. delete peers.dat and remove all addnode= entries from your darkcoin.conf (if you have one)
3. fire up Terminal.app and paste this to reindex the Blockchain:
Code:
/Applications/DarkCoin-Qt.app/Contents/MacOS/DarkCoin-Qt -reindex
-- voilà, it syncs to the latest block.

Mac users, if you appreciate this release please support it by sending DRK: 1 helps!

When I see how the "competition" acts, I remember why I have a 100% Darkcoin portfolio. Be the most innovative not the best in mudslinging.

If you have invested in XC, Cinni, Y or Z coin and have no business with Darkcoin good for you, now the exit is over there. Have a good day !

You lack some reading skills.  Roll Eyes

Also what is truly sad, is that you have to make up issues to attack Darkcoin...
495  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: May 31, 2014, 05:57:35 PM
http://de.scribd.com/doc/227369807/Bitcoin-Coinjoin-Not-Anonymous-v01

Why CoinJoin, as Used in DarkCoin, does NOT bring Full Anonymity  - A Clarification

Abstract
Unlike widely claimed, it is shown that CoinJoin is not fully anonymous. We prove this by a simple
example.
Hence, the claim “CoinJoin (or DarkCoin) provides full anonymity” is proven wrong.

Users of crypto-currencies must be educated to be aware that solely using CoinJoin (as used
e.g. in DarkCoin) does not guarantee anonymity at all.

I know DarkCoin will do more for privacy then CoinJoin. I am just posting this to add some content and give infos for these who doesn't know this or mix things up. To have better discussions.
There is a bias because he wants to prove something and will use as many assumptions as possible to make it fits, and he uses a lot of them.

Quote
Let's assume that Address A1 (compare Transaction 1) is known to be an address that has been used for illegal activities.
That's a big assumption ! How so ?

Quote
We track back Address A18: From Transaction 2 (readable in the blockchain) we see that thefunds of A18 stem from EITHER A10 OR A13 OR A14
In the end he only guessed that A18 is connected to A1 because the owner of the later "carelessly" (other assumption) sent money to A10, without mixing.

Quote
We track back Address A6: From Transaction 1 (readable in the blockchain) we see that thefunds of A6 stem from EITHER A1 OR A2 OR A3
How can he do that ? DarkSend doesn't use a single pool to mix the transactions, but multiple masternodes to lower the probability of guessing the sender identity. He oversimplified something that is far more complex in reality. So the funds can come from a lot more addresses than just A1, A2 and A3 (same for A10, A13 and A14 above).
496  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] >> Mandatory Wallet Update - The first POS ANON on: May 31, 2014, 02:29:02 PM
So I guess I don't really understand how one Twitter post by someone on the DRK team that isn't even true can cause XC to crash, yet DRK is CONFIRMING that they're technology isn't working right, and they might not be able to get it fixed fully until July?  Yet DRK's price continues to rise and XC's doesn't, even though our anon is working.  Just doesn't make sense.

Don't distort the truth, the only issue was with the payment of the masternodes and it will be fixed around mid-June. Other than this, DarkSend works like it is supposed to, you can test it right now and check the blockchain... He announced further improvements of the technology around mid-July, nothing less.

Dark money, dark coin... everything sounds like we are some sort of criminals and working on Darknet webring.

Monero's Ring is much more understandable for me.

Early Bitcoin spectics said Bitoin would never be adopted for real world transactions, that it was illegal etc etc. Guess what? I can buy coffee and a pizza with my bitcoin.

Early spectics say that crap about every coin, and the funny thing is, they never learn, they said that Bitcoin would never make it far, look where it reached today, Ebay filed patents for it, has thoughts of adding it, so Does Paypal, and not to mention the countless thousands of stores that accept it along with large companies such as Overstock, Dish etc.

Early spectics say the same thing that was said about Bitcoin, about Darkcoin. That should tell you something  Grin

History maybe repeating itself.

I'm not a bitcoin fan, but I don't think you can argue that bitcoins are going to be horded, then say they're going to be discarded by people who don't care anymore.  Those are two extremes on opposite ends.

Either you believe bitcoins will be valued and horded or you believe they will be discounted and discarded.

The reality is that bitcoins will be a victim of it's own success.  It threatens governmental power to control currency and must be stopped, probably through some draconian law and/or negative PR campaign.

Did you know terrorist and drug dealers use bitcoins?  See what I did there...

What about governments close exchanges (like Silk Road) or forbid them to trade DRK?

How to trade DRK without site exchanges?

Bump

There are like >100 countries that do not even have an exchange. How do they trade BTC or DRK today?

Simple.

They use the exchanges of other countries.

+ the possibility of a decentralized p2p exchange

NO REAL WORLD BUSINESS WILL EVER USE ANONYMOUS TRANSFERS.  I work in finance / accounting and let me tell you for a fact that this will NEVER happen.  One word: AUDIT
Please show us all invoices, business bank statements, how much you pay yourselves for what you sell, etc. for your company.

Or maybe you don't want to? You think they should be private and not potentially viewable by anyone with an internet connection?

Look, I am CPA (USA) and this is my professional opinion.  I just don't see it happening, ever.  Because with anon transfers there is no way to prove the recipient nor the sender (unless I am mistaken?).  When you are keeping records, even with cash (as the example was given earlier), you need copies of receipts and invoices for documentation.  With anonymous transfers all you have is "your word" which is, to put it bluntly, bullshit.

We don't care about your professional opinion keep it for your coin. Go tell the same thing to your dear friend the XC dev. Shoo.

I am supporting XC and DRK I own both.  And I support anonymous tech as well.  But this will not be adopted into business.  Most companies impose heavy restrictions on the amount of physical cash that can be used for these exact reasons.  And the law (USA) requires that trades and businesses report cash payments of more than $10,000 to the federal government by filing IRS/FinCEN Form 8300 (Exhibit 1).  So, this immediately shuts down the possibility of anon transfers of more than $10,000 for any business.  But in general I can never see any business adopting anonymous transactions.

You can hate on me all you want, but what I'm saying is true.  I am 100% for anon tech, and I don't know about other countries, but this will never be adopted by companies in USA.

I don't hate you. I'm tired of those dumb affirmations, which pop up when there are no more arguments. And the popular "I know 'cause I'm an expert" that goes along with them.
