481  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Countries with No Bitcoin Taxes on: May 20, 2015, 08:03:53 AM
I only know of Denmark and Germany but only if you have held them for more than a year I believe.

Does anyone know of any others?

In terms of taxes its complicated to my knowledge, the legal status is still changing.
Assuming standard law tax is only applied if their are gains and at the time of conversion.
Oddly enough bitlegal must have been dead for a while but they used to keep good track of the changes, I guess wiki is now the best bet.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_bitcoin_by_country

The bitcoin wiki mentions the process for the USA but not much detail is given on other countries

An Open Letter from Tristan D'Agosta
Dear Poloniex Community,

I wanted to take a moment to address some of the feedback we have received with regards to the recent changes at Poloniex. There are a fair number of rumors circulating around on social media, and I'd like to try and separate fact from fiction.

We are a Money Services Business (MSB). Accordingly, we are bound by the rules and regulations defined by the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), and regardless of how other businesses operate, we are legally obligated to follow the rules of FinCEN to the best of our ability.

Starting on May 21, 2015, we will require your name and country for all withdrawals. To withdraw more than $2,000.00 USD equivalent within 24 hours, we will require your address and phone number. It is only if you need to withdraw more than $7,000.00 USD equivalent in a 24-hour period that we will require identity verification such as your social security number or photo ID. We are taking these measures to protect ourselves and you from potential criminal activity that could force a shutdown of our services.

To be clear, any and all profile information we collect from you is collected in order to be compliant and to discourage people from using Poloniex unlawfully. None of the recent changes are to share or sell your data for marketing or advertisement purposes.

While we are saddened by customers who have threatened to cease using Poloniex as a result of these changes, we have chosen the unpopular path of following the regulations that apply to us because we believe it is the right thing to do. We are grateful to our loyal customers who will continue to use Poloniex as we grow and innovate.

It is unfortunate that the changes to our withdrawal policies have overshadowed the incredible work the Poloniex team has done to bring Margin Trading to the altcoin community. Nevertheless, we are encouraged by the amount of Margin Trading activity we have seen in such a short period of time, and are excited to be a part of this new era of alt trading.

483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poloniex changing their ToS -- Needs verification for withdrawals next week. on: May 20, 2015, 07:50:29 AM
I successfully withdrew some coins today without verifying. However there is a giant red warning that I will no longer be able to withdraw without verification tomorrow.
It was a quick notice, just went to check my Polo account myself saw the Terms of Service were updated a few days ago and came on here to check out what was going on.
2000 for a name seems ok for now but as others mentioned when the process really begins then we will see how those fake alias really work out I guess we will need to wait a while to see how far KYC/AML will be pushed.

According to the open letter checks start at $7000 per 24 hours

484  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Poor people - an excellent investment. The growth in trailer park profiteering. on: May 06, 2015, 06:39:10 AM
This one was interesting, choosing an investment in this sector would not be one most people would consider.
That said the numbers make sense the ROI is attractive although the idea of a Sex Offender Park is genius to keep drug dealers and other unwanted groups away, I must give this person props for a strangely effective business model.

Asked by an eager investor how regularly tenants leave her parks, Lee says: “When they die. [They] stay forever, they have no place to go.”

“They’ve got to live somewhere, so you combine them in a certain place. They don’t go out to hurt people. I think it’s a community service, because if not they will be in your neighbourhood. Now they’re all in one place, you can watch them all in one place. And they pay well and won’t mess things up. I mean, why would you not? I think it’s a brilliant idea.”

You were right this is a tad Grisly for an article as it also sounds like this is exploitable and can have a very dark side if taken to far.
485  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "Killing Jews is Worship that Draws Us Close to Allah" Ads on NYC Buses on: May 05, 2015, 06:46:04 AM
Since you asked it doesn't take a partisan ad to get a message sent.

The same message can be done in a less offensive way, perhaps remove the Jihadist picture, remove the reference to Jihad and reframe it as an informational advertisment.

The reason this is controversial in my opinion is because they quoted a radical message to get their own point across, a neutral approach could be just as effective.

Perhaps something along the lines of

"Killing Jews is Worship that draws us close to Allah" Hamas MTV

War is never the answer, fight for a world where we can all worship together in peace.

With a picture of two peoples hands holding an Israeli and Muslim flag holding a globe together

Get a message with a clear point across that doesn't ask for more blood on everyones hands, as the current one implies or leave a bad taste in some peoples mouths, while implying the need for stability and support towards the end goal that is peace.

(The What's yours reference in the ad means sending Israel more weapons and military aid to address the issue instead of trying to find another path towards peace and stability in my opinion)

Thanks for the reply. The basic layout of the ad is the same as the ones placed by CAIR as part of their "my jihad" (or, in German, "mein Kampf") campaign. Some of us found those ads offensive. The CAIR ads certainly weren't neutral. The problem with sending a "peace is the answer" message is that it ignores the fact that jihadis openly do not want peace, except the peace that comes with the extermination of the Jews. Oh well. CAIR won this round. Fuck it.

No problem, I noticed a connection to the Dallas Texas shooting and thought it would be interesting to make a note that no one won that round on advertising since both sides have all partisan ads banned  but sometimes these debates do come back full circle.
___
Abridged

For those unfamiliar with Pamela Geller, she was in the news a few weeks ago for sponsoring an ad campaign across major U.S. cities with anti-Muslim posters saying, among other things, “Killing Jews is Worship that draws us close to Allah.”

On Sunday, she was in the news again for sponsoring a “Jihad Watch Muhammad Art Exhibit and Cartoon Contest” in Garland, Tex., some 20 miles from Dallas, after which two suspects opened fire on a security guard before being shot and killed by police. Authorities did not immediately link the exhibit and the shootings, but Geller did, with vehemence.

Many in Garland objected to the event. Some, including Muslims, said it was blasphemous. Others cited “public safety” concerns. The Council on American-Islamic Relations, however, decided to play it down. “We are not paying any attention to this at all,” Ibrahim Hooper, CAIR spokesman, told the Dallas Morning News. “The thing [Geller] hates most is being ignored.”

But Geller knew what she was getting into and would not be ignored.

“I expected that people would come to realize how severely the freedom of speech is threatened today, and how much it needs to be defended,” she told The Post. “We were prepared for violence.” Indeed, her group’s Web site said “we know the risks” and that the “exhibit has to be staged.”

“If we don’t show the jihadists that they will not frighten us into silence,” the site said, “the jihad against freedom will only grow more virulent.”

“They struck in Paris and Copenhagen recently, and now in Texas. This incident shows how much needed our event really was. The freedom of speech is under violent assault here in our nation. The question now before is — will we stand and defend it, or bow to violence, thuggery and savagery?”

For Geller, it was her own Charlie Hebdo moment.

I have a feeling that the NRA will have a field day with this sometime in the future to proclaim the benefits of Gun ownership and the NSA the value of call logs sort of
A bad guy with a gun can be beaten by a good guy with a gun look at Dallas
We have all this information to point him out as a threat, it was the fault of someone that he slipped through our surveillance and was prosecuted with only a minor crime despite the evidence of his intent.
That said I'm glad they were stopped before this became another serious shooting incident.

As a side note the sponsor for this contest has a strong relation to another thread here as mentioned above but not as directly.

I bet on Mayweather ---> Why? ---> He's American and they fought in the USA  Grin Roll Eyes Shocked
Anyway you guys lost the bet? But Mayweather and Pacquiao received much much money Cheesy
Not only they both received much much money but also a lot of other people involved in this mega event made nice amount. Little gamblers like us are happy on their winnings or sad or their losing. Real game was at high level which was obviously arranged at some level. It seems at large.

Yeah someone lost someone won but the they getting richer  Grin
300M USD 60/40 Mayweather/Pacquiao for 12 rounds.
By the way Pacquiao always donate for organization at least for his country. That why I like him  Smiley

wow,if pacquiao always donate for organization what about mayweather?

Mayweather is not known for his donations at all, can't find much on it other than this article of indivudals who instead of paying $99 to watch the fight, donated it to victims of domestic violence as a diss to Mayweather and a radio quote on his idea of charity.

Once Mayweather gave a radio interview in which he said people sometimes ask him why he hasn’t “given to Africa.”

“Well, what has Africa given to us?” he said.

“You hear people talking about, ‘Well he should give that to charity’ . . . No, I should donate to Floyd Mayweather.”

--

Mayweather spent the run-up to the fight bragging about what he would do to spread his wealth if he won — shower money on the strippers at Sin City’s finest gentlemen’s clubs.

Mayweather promised to party with a tote bag containing $250,000 cash, which would be carried by his crew — and be called the “pregnant duffel.”

Boxer and politician Manny Pacquiao is expected to donate half of his earnings from Saturday's boxing match with Floyd Mayweather Jr to charity. Pacquiao, 36, will receive well over US$100 million (S$133 million) in a 60-40 purse split the fighters agreed to beforehand, with revenues believed to have soared past US$400 million.
488  Economy / Securities / Re: Anything sustainable worth of investing? on: May 05, 2015, 05:36:17 AM
It's kind of a bit risky I would say, because you risk even investing in BTC, but here you also risk investing in a casino and an altcoin which depends on a success of a single project (Just-Dice.com). There seems to be some other little projects, but they would hardly save the day if something would happen to Just-Dice.
Bla bla, ok I'm gonna grab some CLAMS and try this Grin

True enough but if JD still had a Bitcoin bankroll I would use their site.
Nothing like getting a portion of the gambling revenues from the whales eventually (variance and all) but at least with Clams the coins value is smaller but it has a stake so an addtional revenue model is nice, it does add two additonal layers of risk verus Bitcoin one it adds an Altcoin to the mix then the price of Bitcoin as an additional relation, and second operator risk, still it is better than most of the ideas I've seen in the thread so far, conversion considered its been pretty stable.

Old members  can just claim free clams and turn them to BTC using their old Bitcoin addresses and move any balance in them to a new address without even needing to buy any clams from an exchange so free BTC in a sense (And I won't get in trouble for saying its practically a giveaway for oldies whistle) all it requires is a 2.53 percent increase in effort to be precise ha-ha

489  Economy / Securities / Re: Anything sustainable worth of investing? on: May 05, 2015, 04:57:42 AM
Hey guys,

I post these questions a lot recently on different forums but I ve not been able to receive a satisfactory answer. Has BTC economy really turned into a sea of ponzies and scam?
Is there ANYTHING worth of investing these days? Anything which might provide sustainable dividend, regardless of how low it might be?

Pls do not post cryptodublers, pyramid schemes, 5% per day ROI websites and similar junk. Only verifiable and transparent options pls.

Just Just-Dice in my opinion, I haven't seen a service where there is a non-guaranteed but solid chance of return other than that gambling site, not that their aren't good investments around the problem is that they aren't IPO or fundraising at this time.
In my opinion its a good time to wait or sit in cash/btc while waiting for investment opportunities to spring up.

I presumed you wanted an interest bearing investment in the entire crytocurrency sphere that can then be reconverted back to Bitcoin with a solid chance of a positive return in a future point in time.

Since there wasn't much mentioned in the Bitcoin sphere I think the whole crytocurrency system + conversions seems like a better area to look at and we might get some interesting ideas if anyone has any suggestions.

Interesting, could you elaborate a bit on just-dice. How does all this investment process work? What is your personal ROI experience with them?
Your investing in the bankroll of the site on just-dice and gets % of the earned profit  depending on your % of the total bankroll, i think the sites part of the profit is 20% so 80% of the profits goes to those staking the bankroll if it works the same as it did back when the site was btc based.

That's about right but since the coin in question is Clam Coin and it uses proof of stake coins are staked and investors also recieve a portion of the mining revenue from each block staked on the chain.

So two revenue streams one for mining/proof of ownership and one for gambling with a 1% set house edge meaning that while volatile total volume will result in a return on income by staking and through gambling.

In terms of clams about 0.1BTC at the 0.005 / Clam price using the free Clam coins I recieved for having an old Bitcoin address that had balance back in the day Smiley (It utilizes Proof Of Chain) then turned into Proof of Stake to clarify.

(Percentage wise 30% APR (But it's still less than a year since the site has been put back online. Before that Doog stored a heck of a lot more bitcoins) so far most of my return has been from staking revenues and some from the gambling side the balance does grow over time and the price has been stable explaining the growth that said the % and ROI varies based on the conversion rate back into Bitcoins)

JD is run by dooglus so you can check out their thread if your interested crazyivan (And have fun with all the pretty charts ha-ha)
490  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 05, 2015, 04:41:55 AM
This is why I supported AsicMiner....as Friedcat vision was to keep it decentralized.

Likewise. If Bitcoin is to have any future it will be a decentralized one. The current centralization of mining is dangerous.

I understand that we as investors in AM have drawn the short end of the stick. So be it.

However, AM belonged to all shareholders and we should still have the IP including the ASIC designs.

Can we at the very least open source these designs and give something back to the community for the betterment of the Bitcoin ecosystem?

Well they did open source the Block Erupter as part of their strategy plan if I recall correctly, not sure on the rest of the designs though.

by the way anybody know whos's the winner of second round? mayweather or pacman? i've made bet for mayweather on second round.

Mayweather won Round 1, Round 2, Round 3

That scoreboard scored it differently than mma but I see where they have the same end results in terms of points 4 Paq 8 Mayweather
Was counting it like that myself even though Mayweather was dull as a nail.

Just goes to show the UFC learnt that people hate boring fights defense may win but its just not as exciting

I bet on manny pacquiao and i thought he won and i lost .8 BTC Sad

My apologies mate, it did look like Pacquiao should have had better odds of winning that fight

Mayweather just kept blocking with his defense, now if this was a younger Pacquiao things would have been interesting.

(Mayweather seriously hugged pacquiao whenever he got cornered in the box he rarely attacked offensively)
Not that it was illegal still kind of dull and made the fight a bit boring.

I guess Mayweather secured a 48-0 with one more to retirement, might make for an easy bet on Mayweather seeing as I thought Pac would be the only one who could break through that one and win.

That said I'm with you in heart Pac fought a good fight why there was so much booing at Mayweather.

#PacquiaoStillTheBestInTheWorld

#NotAccordingToMayweather   Smiley
People Knew It Who Is the "Real" Winner and Still the "Best".

The real winner is both Pacquiao's and Mayweather's bank accounts

Indeed, the winner of that fight was the Bank roll for those two
The pre-fights leading towards the main show Pac vs Mayweather were more interesting than this one
Then again this is how mayweather always fights really defenisve so it was not unexpected.
494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Satoshi still have plans to access his coins? on: May 03, 2015, 06:48:59 AM
Was "burning" coins a thing in the early days? Maybe he destroyed the private keys or deleted his wallet on purpose instead?

That sounds like the logical choice, proof of burn is the same as mining and deleting a private key
Both make the coins inaccessible.
That said satoshi is either dead or just rich and developed this system in his free time, I wonder sometimes if we will ever see the coins used but I guess true anonyminity comes at a painful economic cost.

That said Ebola through sexual transmission months after the event that is concerning.

The match ended with Mayweather as the winner and still holding the title of the UNDEFEATED. Too bad I was hoping Manny to win because this will at least serve Mayweather better as he is being very cocky with this title. Congratulations to those that got some amount by betting on Mayweather to win  Grin

I was expecting more of a fight manny came in and had a few good rounds but Mayweather kept manny back with a solid defense that at the end of the match helped him continue his flawless streak.

Heart was with Paquiao mind said Mayweather that's really how it did turn out.
497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hedgy Raises $1.2 Million for Smart Contract-Powered Bitcoin Derivatives on: May 02, 2015, 05:52:33 AM
It seems there are many news coming out from time to time , that many bitcoin related businesses successfully raised large of of money. How haven't the bitcoin price reflected this?

Just a stronger sell pressure than a buy and hold pressure I guess
Merchant adoption being what it is, that said I can see these type of hedges and funds resulting in more people getting into the space to play with price changes.
498  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Use In Philippines on: May 02, 2015, 05:31:09 AM
You forgot coinage.ph and btcexchange.ph which are the real "open" exchanges. Their volumes are in the range 100~200 BTC per day.

If I recall correctly your also in the area Dabs so you know best
It's still a cool idea though
The ease of use is likely the only problem, if it was integrated where phone credits could be loaded with Bitcoin using Smart or Globe then it would reach the next level.

Mircea and her shenanigans
Anyways post the relevant Bitcoin-Assets thread and log for evidence if you did take the bet.
Seems like a fun one if you actually have the money to put up.

Or if the offer is open to all users would like to see who bites on this  Grin

I thought Mircea (Popescu) was a guy and was running a gambling site..

Or am I wrong and it was an exchange?

Wasn't it the guy called by the US agency to give info about his business to them?

Your correct partially, Mircea was a guy the person on the forums a long while back was portrayed as a girl
And mpex is technically an investment site and exchange.
That said one of their assets is a betting site (bitbet) so I can see why you got confused.
And yep that was the one also about Eric Vorhees and said FU lol.

It's definitely going to be an interesting fight
A lot of love for Pacquiao while mayweather seems to be a deal in comparison then again there can only be one winner
Guess any Mayweather bettors would have a good edge here.
