481  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin price forecast 2017 on: March 27, 2017, 06:14:00 PM
We can't have new ATH without resolving internal bitcoin scaling problems and war between SegWit vs. Bitcoin Unlimited.
It doesn't matter much that  traditional fiat markets are struggling when at the same time Bitcoin hostile takeover is still possible.
We need some serious crisis - much like that in 2008 was, to boost price of BTC to plus $2000 levels.
482  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [vDice.io]►Ethereum Blockchain Gambling►►**New & Awesome Version of Site on: March 27, 2017, 06:07:07 PM
Announcement of this new game on vDice certainly piqued my curiosity, it's a good move to hide the details for now.
Let's people speculate and wonder what that game might be about - just please, make it worthwhile the wait for it, or people might feel disappointed.
483  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-03-25]Why The Bitcoin Miners Are Destined To Lose The Hard Fork Wars on: March 26, 2017, 05:21:16 PM
I highly doubt now that there will be a fork.

But people are correct that you need to have ownership of your private keys on devices you control to be safe. The worst place to "store" bitcoin would be exchanges.

This latest push will go the same way "Classic" and "XT" did, which was nowhere....

Fork is still a possibility, well executed and seamless fork is nothing to be afraid of, it is split we want to avoid.

Some people are still running Bitcoin Classic nodes (1.96%) and XT (0.39%) even despite these two options are totally insignificant now.
484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any one participating in ICOs is an idiot!!! on: March 26, 2017, 04:44:48 PM
ICOs are getting worse and worse. That is a fact, but what did you expect? This is new way of earning money and milk fools.
Literally anyone can start a new ICO project and promise you anything. Bullshit a way through with crazy roadmap and features.
You need to remember that you vote with your money, if something is too good to be true, the it is most likely a failed project.
If we stop investing in every new ICO just because they promise us high revenue it will effectively limit new ICO market.
485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Decred up 90% in 24 hours on: March 26, 2017, 04:28:00 PM
Anyone know the reason?
I tried to search for some clues on Decred's official forum, here: https://forum.decred.org/
But there is not much activity going on there. Barely any recent discussions.
So without any serious news, it is safe to assume that it's standard pump&dump action.
486  Economy / Economics / Re: [Survey Poll] Gold vs. Bitcoin as an Investment on: March 26, 2017, 04:16:45 PM
Considering this survey is being conducted on a bitcoin forum, the results might hold prejudice.
Prejudice is unavoidable we are all biased toward something. If you would conduct this survey on gold holders forum or general investing forum the results would be different every time.
Most users of bitcointalk are after all bitcoin users or holders. It is only natural that bitcoin will win in every Poll. We still value a real commodity such as gold.
GOld is a solid investment, this asset won't be eaten by inflation as standard FIATs, but unlike bitcoin, gold don't have potential of making your rich in the long run.
487  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buying Bitcoin on: March 26, 2017, 03:46:38 PM
Hi guys, need some help please?

I am considering buying some bitcoins, I've been exploring http://coinbase.com/ but I am not too comfortable having to transfer them my money, waiting four days to have it in my e-wallet or something, and only then buy the bitcoins. Do you know if there is a way to buy them directly from my bank account?

Thanks!
Try checking out   https://www.circle.com/en
You can no longer use Circle to buy or sell bitcoin, they removed this option in December last year.
Instead of being cryptocurrency exchange they switched to mobile payments market with their Circle app.
Circle partnered with Coinbase and everyone who want to sell or buy bitcoin is redirected there instead.
488  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why you should buy bitcoins NOW on: March 26, 2017, 03:26:17 PM
deisik is 100% right here. Stop being paralyzed by FUD and news about future bitcoin split - it won't happen.
Utilize the first and the most important rule of trading: buy always there there is blood in the streets.
I love that even small dose of bad news are making bitcoin holders panicking like little kittens.

Remember - only HODLERS win!
489  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: RIP Bitcoin, better luck next time on: March 26, 2017, 03:19:53 PM
Yes, looks like BU is slowing down according to https://coin.dance/blocks
Interesting, the difference between SegWit and BU signalling is lower than ever. They are exactly 6% apart.
I wonder if that means that rising support of BU is finally over. Will we see reverse trend and SegWit will win soon?
There is still problem of too high numbers needed for SegWit's acceptance though.
490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Distribution model of coins, altcoins on: March 25, 2017, 04:39:09 PM
It is very simple why this model of distribution is not used, because it is not viable from the economic point of view.
Launching an altcoin is all about good start, by using logistic curve patter you are preventing a good start of your coin.
How would you entice people to join mining if the early adopters/people decided to trust your coin from the very start wouldn't get rewarded more?
491  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which alt will pump next? Opinions please. on: March 24, 2017, 05:33:31 PM
lol @ the UNO answers.... UNO is f worthless. Don't waste your money on it.

No innovation. No utility. BAD! #FakeNews
Nowadays altcoins are build not because we need innovation or utility, but rather to offer us promise of fast profit.
UNO is one of these coins created just to be pumped & dumped, pure speculator asset. Buy, trade, sell and never expect anything.
492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Veros - a new cryptocurrency on: March 24, 2017, 05:25:35 PM
The coin is premined and we use Etherum platform!
And how exactly coin being premined was ever a good feature to advertise?

VEROS is designed specifically for massive adoption and everyday USE.
Yeah, you will probably beat Bitcoin level of adoption by 2020. /s

I didn't bother to read though details but it looks kinda suspicious at first sight.
493  Economy / Economics / Re: Most Secure Currency to Hold Funds on: March 24, 2017, 05:02:39 PM
I have many bitcoins I'm wanting to cash out, but I'm debating whether I should do it for gold, or for USD. The possibility of the bitcoin price crashing scares me, whereas it seems impossible for gold to lose all value.

What do you hold the bulk of your wealth in?
You haven't studied gold price charts do you? Of course that gold won't become useless but it is still commodity susceptible to rapid price shifts.

Prices of gold (per ounce):

June 14, 2007 - $650
March 11, 2008 - $980
September 5, 20011 - $1899
December 15, 2015 - $1060

And the current price of gold as of March 24, 2017 is $1,251.10 per ounce. Gold is not stable as many people might think.

494  Economy / Economics / Re: crypto is the future, make money of it on: March 24, 2017, 04:53:18 PM
Crypto will not be the nearest future, even Bitcoin users are only 12+ millions ( Blockchain wallets ). All Internet users you can check here - http://www.internetlivestats.com/internet-users/, around 3.59 billions, so you can understand that even first and largest crypto - Bitcoin have limited user network.
It is safe to assume that Bitcoin is currently used by less than 20 million people and it is worth more than $1000.
3.59 billion of internet users is more than enough for make BTC price skyrocket to the moon.
Gold or other precious metals, stocks, commodities or securities have limited market as well, and are ever more restricted than BTC.
495  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the next "BIG THING" in the altcoin world on: March 23, 2017, 05:24:39 PM
there are a lot of new ICO in the altCoin world..
But who will be the real next "BIG THING" in the future round the corner??
Who, will be capable to introduce new real and useful features???

let's talk about!
Are altcoin community really care about new and useful features? It sure is unexpected.
Because from what I see, so far it is more like crowd is always picking coins which promise the highest ROI.
Nothing else matters.
496  Economy / Speculation / Re: why i'm not selling my coins on: March 23, 2017, 05:07:59 PM
I fully agree with jonald here. He presented a solid standpoint here and his arguments seems logical.
Anyone who is preaching that only safe option is to sell all your coins and, maybe, rebuy them later is just spreading FUD.
Bitcoin is too precious and expensive (not only as a currency, but rather as economic phenomenon) to tinker with it and make hasty upgrades.
I hope we will have seamless transition to whatever scaling solution community/miners will chose.
497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to do with the people who don't like Bitcoin? on: March 23, 2017, 04:54:49 PM
I would probably ask them why give a negative response to bitcoin, and maybe he had a bad experience with bitcoin
People who complain and bash bitcoin are usually not bitcoin users, they have no real experience.
They are bystanders who like to shit on idea bitcoin represents: a free from 3rd parties, p2p, decentralized network.
Bitcoin is criticized by folks so hard rooted in the old economic system, where strong authority is everything.
498  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is getting out? on: March 23, 2017, 04:07:59 PM
Who else is cashing in before the fork wipes out Bitcoin?  I don't have much but will quit while I'm ahead.   Wink
Even emergency fork of Ethereum didn't kill that altcoin and now ETH is stitting pretty on 4x pre-fork value.
So why do you think that planned and well done bitcoin's fork will destroy the asset?
Mass dump will create entry point for new investors anyway, so be my guest.
499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [vDice.io]►Ethereum Blockchain Gambling►►**New & Awesome Version of Site on: March 22, 2017, 06:34:46 PM
I thought about something - with current Bitcoin scaling problems and hard  fork eventuality altcoins are gaining grounds.
Traders are buiing Ethereum to diversify their cryptocurrency portfolio, this would be nothing but good news for altcoin gambling service like vDice.
The harder bitcoin is plagued by bad news, BU vs Core war the more popular ETH will get.
500  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin price is recovering! on: March 22, 2017, 06:27:19 PM
There will be always some problem in the background which will influence bitcoin's price:

1. Early price shifts and market susceptible to manipulation during early years.
2. Chinese leverage trading and bot trading which caused ATH in 2013.
3. Potentially negative legislation which plagued BTC in 2015.
4. Halving effect in 2016.
6. PBoC intervention in early late 2016, early 2017.
7. Scaling problem and forking issue in 2017.
