Also the maximum number of halvings is hard coded, so once that number has passed that, the reward is set to 0.
482  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Link to download uncompiled version of bitcore? on: July 30, 2014, 03:31:09 AM
Yes, either download one of the tagged releases (the most recent) https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/releases

or clone the repository with
Code:
git clone https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin.git

Git is a version control system like SVN or CVS. Github is a hosted version of git which provides open access to all code. You can browse it online at https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin

Thank you.

The thread has been a little quiet today as most people involved are spending their time creating interesting things for Bitmark, or feverishly mining, or setting up businesses around it.

We are hear watching for questions and to welcome new people in Smiley

Monsanto, we can quickly modify or create anything you need, please let me know any particular tools you like to use for other currencies and we will fork them and add Bitmark support.

Where is my public adress ?

1. Open Wallet
2. Click "Receive"
3. Click "Request Payment", this will generate and save a new address for you.
4. copy the address and use it.

Optionally: enter a label to provide an easy to remember name for the address within bitmark-qt.

Optionally: If you are requesting a payment from from somebody then you may enter a message and an amount. No action is taken, it simply generates a new address and creates a qr code or bitmark: url with the request details in it.

Hows the NOMP development going? Eagerly awaiting confirmation for rejoining the IPM.

Great that the xHash redirecting onto the Bitmark, network speed looking healthy and uptake is getting stronger.

NOMP development for the IPM pool is progressing well, we are currently integrating NOMP and insight.is to provide a unique and useful offering to all future users of IPM. I feel it is vitally important to esnure what is produced is full tested, stable, and easy to use. The IPM Pool maintenance cost in time must be low so as not to impede the overall progress of project bitmark.

If anybody is considering mining Bitmark, here is the mining calculator configured for the current network speed.

Quick links to pools, p2pool, and solo mining documentation can be found on the first post of this thread.

The current cost of production averages at 0.00020000 BTC per BTM and continues to rise. The true cost per miner may fluctuate well above or marginally below depending on the efficiency of the equipment used. It is impossible to calculate the median production cost.

Extensive discussion around the new documentation on Marking - our massive adoption initiative continues both in IRC and via many people who are building new businesses on bitmark.

Work continues on all aspects of our project, we will be in a strong position by the end of this week.

Value should be earned, not given in advance based on promise.
487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ViaCoin. Yet another scam? on: July 29, 2014, 10:55:40 AM
In a twist of events I have been informed that Viacoin hard forked recently, as a result xhash.net has moved all Viacoin miners on to the Bitmark network.

I would like to take the opportunity to welcome those who have switched, and let you know that the community and I are available to support anybody affected in any way we can.

May I also reassure you that Bitmark is secure, tested, stable, and that our Project is ethically sound with a fair distribution of currency, no ipo, no instamine, no premine, or anything unfair. All value has been earned, and will continue to be.

All of our mining pools have just had a request to update their code to the latest checkpoints, if they have not already.
488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ViaCoin. Yet another scam? on: July 29, 2014, 03:20:35 AM
In the interests of transparency and to prevent the FUD which is occurring.

Here is a Viacoin code review which I was asked to do a few weeks ago. It states explicitly and provably the currenct technical status of the Viacoin project.

Today I have forked the bitcore.io javascript libraries and modified them for Bitmark, the may come in useful to somebody, you can find them here

The insight-api from bitpay has also been forked and adapted to bitmark, available here. It provides both an http api, and a websockets api, for anybody who may need such data. There is a public instance which is being developed currently, if you need early access contact me.

insight.is, the open source block explorer has been adapted for bitmark too, the repo is here if anybody would like to host their own version. A central block explorer for bitmark.co is already available, however I will wait until it looks suitable before sharing the link.

Credit to TheDirector for starting this effort and sharing his progress with us over the past few days. He is proving to be a valuable and interesting asset to have, appearing every so often with a new project ready to finish and share.

Finally, if anybody requires Bitmark to be integrated with any other applications which are open source or which you use, please request them here.
490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmark on: July 28, 2014, 10:01:39 PM
I believe we could definitely use at least 2 more pools. miningpool.co regularly has ~50% of the net hash rate. It would be nice to have more pools to choose from.

I agree, preferably 6 more to make a total of 8 primary pools.

At the request of a user I have added Bitmark support to inuit, a very neat cold storage application.
491  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmark on: July 28, 2014, 03:38:19 PM
A maintained twitter account for the project is available from today @ProjectBitmark, expect it to be a mid volume account for updates or contacting, rather than noisy pr.

/r/bitmark has also been reserved and is ready for usage as the community grows.
492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: July 28, 2014, 03:26:41 PM
Could you tabulate that summary so that the items are the same for each currency you list. A + when supported and a - when not.
493  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [POD] Proof of Dev on: July 28, 2014, 02:53:31 PM
If what you say is genuinely true, then you may want to consider over-viewing Bitmark and consider becoming a member of the community, there are already many people doing this on a daily basis and putting forward new ideas which are both interesting and useful, all focussed on adoption and balance.
494  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anyone following the ebola outbreak? on: July 28, 2014, 02:39:52 PM
For a cultural reference remember the film outbreak? that was based on the concept of a slightly mutated ebola virus, if you have seen the film then you have a fair indication of the effects of Ebola.
495  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anyone following the ebola outbreak? on: July 28, 2014, 02:23:38 PM
According WHO there are 786 confirmed cases (as of 20 July 2014) which is not so much. But 442 of them have already died which is quite scary. And in addition there are 201 probable cases with even higher death rate, 174 deaths.

If we consider that it is more than all the cases from the past 40 years combined, or fast approaching that number, then it certainly is a great deal.

We know the usage of the word viral online, let us not forget it's origin.

This issue is fast becoming a primary concern.
496  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: July 28, 2014, 02:12:41 PM
And I need that to become open source asap, because it is dangerous to hold such a secret and not tell anyone.

Often the way to approach this problem, is to develop and create openly from the start. You can easily develop publicly and test before launch whilst building a conversation with no negative impact on the community or the thing being developed.
497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmark on: July 28, 2014, 01:20:06 PM
Does this crypto need a pool ?

It is actively mined on xhash.net, miningpool.co, solo mined, and via p2pool, with a network speed varying between 1.2 to 2 GH/s since inception, and a difficulty averaging 30-40.

Fair playing well supported mining pools which do not auto switch or auto convert are welcome to add bitmark support, as this can only serve to benefit the security and efficiency of our network by further distributing hashing power.

If that description describes any pool you may control, then feel free to add bitmark, I am always on hand to support you during the process, however no bugs or issues have been reported so far.

There are some nuances to Bitmark which are worth considering, particularly the number of rewards per day and the coin maturity.

Important Update

If you are involved in Project Bitmark, tracking the project, or interested in what will be happening, I encourage you to read the new documentation on Marking - our massive adoption initiative.

This document clearly details all aspects of how we will approach and encourage wide spread adoption far beyond that of any existing digital currency.

All supporting documentation including the wiki and the OP of this thread have been updated to reflect the current status and vision of our project.

Bitmark has now been released for two weeks, we have achieved stable growth on all fronts and by all measurements. I would like to thank everybody who has contributed and joined the project so far, and welcome those who will be joining this coming week.
499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmark on: July 26, 2014, 10:14:50 PM
ah no no it was just about the block size but its oke ;-) nice coin nice future i think ;-) maby good for our project ( see link in signature , coin isn not updated yet on our website ;-)  )

thanks for explanation

We are very charitable, however please do not add Bitmark support to your donation page until after I have confirmed your status with GRH (Greyhound Rescue Holland).

I will contact you once we have heard back from GRH, and if the news is positive I will personally make a donation.

Thank you, and I am sure you understand that we must perform due diligence checks on all non registered charities.

News about the icons?

Allow delivered 2 versions today which neither of us thought were correct, he's now doing another version ready for tomorrow, to be a compacted "MARK" where the "M" is an icon and the "A" an up arrow.

"difficulty" : 42.10968071,

I am unsure what your query is?

There are 70-100 people mining the coin full time on two major hashing pools, and solo, and a syndicate mining group, with a network speed ranging between 1.3GH/s and 2GH/s.

If you are unsure as to why I would suggest clicking back one page and reading the top post, then perhaps the previous 800 or so messages of on topic interesting discussion, or maybe the multiple update links in the ANN can enlighten.

If not, I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have, I look forward to speaking with you in the future Smiley

consolidation.  have you thought about moving development conversation to a private forum? btt isnt the ideal place for this as you will get alot of noise from traders and speculators.

Yes, we are going to be creating our own community site, powered by Jeff Atwood's software discourse.org, after we have modified it to have full getMarked support, it will be the first community powered by Marking! Work begins tomorrow.

For now all are welcome, noise included, for all those joining please do take the time to consider what you post, all information is available on the ANN and the Wiki.
