482  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: January 08, 2024, 09:47:03 PM
This is my take on the EPL at the moment. I think it would be more difficult for Arsenal to battle it out with Manchester City now that City have got all key players back in the team. Arsenal seem to be the ones who have lost their form. Aston Villa are also firing at the moment but I doubt they can maintain the momentum for too long. Liverpool also don’t look like much problem for Manchester City at the moment without Mo Salah. Guardiola obviously have an advantage in the race.
it is unfortunate Arsenal are involuntarily dropping from the EPL title race following their three consecutive games that they dropped points by losing to Westham, Fulham and drawing against Liverpool giving Liverpool a place at the top of the table. No disrespect to Aston Villa but we all know sooner or later they won't be able to face the heat of the position they currently occupy on the table as Manchester City are now bouncing back with the recovery of their key players KDB and Doku from injury with Haaland soonest. I even doubt if Liverpool will still be at the top by the end of February with the absence of Salah at the moment.
483  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does inactive users deserve merits? on: January 08, 2024, 08:45:45 PM
-snip-
Merits system was created to applaud good, quality and informative post's, it is of course deserving of a quality post to be merited despite the user being inactive. The merit is as a result of the post quality and not for being active or inactive. The shortfall there is that, while a user receives merit's the S'merits from those merits received would be dormant in an inactive user's possession and that's one core reason I notice as to why inactive user's posts that deserves merits don't get merited to avoid wasting S'merit that could be circulated around to other active users.
No matter how many sMerit can no longer circulate among users who are no longer active - the purpose of the merit system is to reward quality and informative user posts. Satoshi is a clear example of this - he got 6279 merit until January 2024 even though he has not been active since December 13, 2010.

Of course there are exceptions for certain users - but as long as you get benefits from that user's posts, then you are free to spend your merit on them even if they are not active. There are no rules about it - but perhaps you should avoid it as much as you can if you are not merit source.
It is undisputed that the merit system was to reward posts be it active for a very long period or not, but be it as that it still calls to apply wisdom in doing that, the Satoshi account you use as an example it should satisfy you to know that Satoshi is an extraordinary figure in the forum to which users will for any unspecified reason want to merit his account despite being inactive. Now this is my personal opinion which is, I prefer rewarding an active user's post counting on the knowing that whatever S'merit that's made will be rewarded to another merit deserving post by the active user moving forward. It's a personal mindset.

Before I run into the op discussion proper I go like want express my anger on people way the shout say education na scam and the saddest part be say even those wey try go school dey educated the follow shoulder this statement with pride. Because your certificate no pay you or never start to pay you no mean say the next educated person somewhere him certificate no dey paying am too.  It's better to go school hold certificate keep the wait for opportunity than to no get at all and opportunity come you no get any paper to summit grab the opportunity.

For me, my acada knowledge nah be my backbone for anywhere I go, person no fit use my head with gramma and big big English take make me sign wetin I no supposed sign, and nah this area uneducated people the usually fall mugu for because them no fit read and comprehend wetin dey for paper them just sign, them no even know if na their property or their rights them the sign away. So how education take be scam? Na because job never com yet or wetin?

There have been some good and quality posts that I've come across why navigating through the forum and I found out that some of the users have been inactive for a very long time but the posts they've made deserved merit, so is it advisable to merit the post(s) of a user(s) that have been inactive for a long interval of time considering the fact that they made Meritable posts?

486  Economy / Economics / Re: Corruption in Nigeria as a Problem of Economic Growth and Development on: January 07, 2024, 07:42:18 PM
Read history , the oil wells and natural resources of the African nation's have been the very source  of the WEST and European nations so-called development you pride yourself with Feel free to do your own unbiased research and not what you have been enlightened with by your censored media concerning African nation's.

Read your damn history first, oil exploration in Nigeria began in 1957 you gained independence in 1960!
What have you done since then?
South Korea was a country destroyed by war, poorer than all of Europe at the time, no natural resources, a constant enemy north, and yet:
https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/NY.GDP.PCAP.KN?locations=KR-NG
But yeah, easier to blame stuff that happened a century ago than actually man up and change something.

Colonialism?
https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/NY.GDP.PCAP.CD?end=2022&locations=NG-RO-BG-KZ-MY-TH-PE&start=1983
In the '90 you had a gdp per capita on par with eastern europe, what happened?
Common, make my day, explain how colonialism is to be blamed here:

in my whole post I recount mentioning that the problem with Nigeria is bad leadership and by bad leadership it means corrupt leadership as the problem to the development of Nigeria and not that Nigeria as a country is poor and miserable as the other poster emphasized in one of his paragraphs. It is not poverty that is the problem to the underdevelopment of Nigeria but it's rather a bad leadership issue.

Now, for the records I know my history quite well more than you think you do, for I am not a man who is oblivion of his own  history.

You talk about me not blaming the WEST and Europe for the underdevelopment of Nigeria, yea, you're right, it's been years since independence but let me make it clear to you that there's difference between Political independence and economical independence.  There's the political but in a cloak the economic independence is withheld and may of the African countries leader's that tries oppose that economic dependency automatically becomes an enemy of the WEST/Europe a clear example (which I expect you will refute) is Muammar Muhammad Abu Minyar al-Gaddafi of Libya. What happened when he took the decision to cut economic ties with the WEST and gave unprecedented development both human and infrastructural development to his people,  he was tagged a tyrant, a dictatorship, and how was his end?  Today what is the current situation/condition of living standard in Libya compared to when he Gddafi was in leadership position, one that refused to be a stooge to the West.

Neocolonialism is now the new order but no one is talking about it. Nigeria leaders are corrupt I don't dispute, but the question is who are those aiding this corruption and benefiting behind the curtain. No body is talking about that.
487  Economy / Gambling / Re: UNREAL!! Sportsbet.io pays out a $42,000,000 USDT Casino WIN!! on: January 05, 2024, 10:58:31 PM
Oh my goodness is this for real! Like am super excited for the winner I won't be surprised this turns out to be a bolster to other gamblers to think of  stepping up their game gambling more than ever. But no, if it's not your lucky day then it's just not your lucky day despite how many times you might wanna spin. If I were to be the winner I quit gambling immediately and invest this money into different profiting businesses. Cheers to the luck winner and nice to see the casino could pay the money too.
488  Economy / Economics / Re: Corruption in Nigeria as a Problem of Economic Growth and Development on: January 05, 2024, 10:27:48 PM
People saying "Corruption is everywhere" to a post about corruption in Nigeria really trivializes the point the OP is making. Yes, there is corruption in other places too but most of the developed world stands where it is today because the rich and powerful were not so easily able to trample rights and just practice unchecked corruption in those places. Someone gave the example of Switzerland. Are you out of your mind making a comparison between an impoverished, filthy, socially and politically broken and rotten country like Nigeria with Switzerland??
Really?
You don't just call or address another's country in such manner of  language only people from the cave should be doing while a supposed enlightened being I assume you to be rebuke the charade of incivility. Read history , the oil wells and natural resources of the African nation's have been the very source  of the WEST and European nations so-called development you pride yourself with Feel free to do your own unbiased research and not what you have been enlightened with by your censored media concerning African nation's.

Africa and Nigeria especially isn't poor nor filthy it's a rich nation filled with any natural resources in the world you can think of, what Africa and Nigeria in particular lacks is good and selfless leaders in political and economic positions that out of their greed have sold their Father land to the pillaging and siphoning of her wealthy resources by the so-called First world.

Can you please mention five natural resources that Switzerland has and it's lacking in Nigeria apart from good political leadership and I'll mention a full hand of natural resources found in Nigeria alone that the whole of the European countries are lack as a natural resource.

Can you unequivocally say there's no corruption in your country that the system is perfect ?

Let be objective in how we share our thoughts and not being derogative as no nation is an autarchy of itself.
489  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: My advice concerning the new trend (No gree for anybody) on: January 04, 2024, 08:32:36 PM
For me this slanguage "no gree for anybody" na motivation for me oh no be just on anybody but also for anything wey the make me dull both for inside the forum and for our everyday real life mattas. But hin get some people wey the interpret this slang in another form entirely oh, like in a trouble way of no gree for anybody, so to me this slangs works for you in the way you choose to interpret am. And sometin wey the marvel me about this "no gree for anybody" na how Nigerians unanimously agree to use this as the theme of the new year all over the country. Grin
490  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: One more filed smear campaign against Bitcoin on: January 04, 2024, 08:07:13 PM
Haven't we learnt from the past? We are still doing panic selling which was witnessed as there were fuds created by some influencers about possible rejection of spot ETF and once this spread across we saw how people were on selling mode which literally brought down the value of Bitcoin to $40750. But this was a tight slap on face of those who tried bringing down Bitcoin as it survived this attempt as well and rising again.

When I as we I meant those who have panic sold their holding and it's sad people don't understand that just one event like spot ETF approval cannot define Bitcoin's future and people should stop believing in these smear campaigns because no one can predict much about crypto or Bitcoin.
Hey mate, this market is beyond our pay grade I tell you all our money put together ain't even controlling a 1% of the market movement's, the movers and shakers of the market will always manipulate it in the direction it suites them, it is we the smallest fishes in the ocean that's been troubled and affected by the FOMO and FUDS that accompanies all of the events/news as they unfold. To be on on a safer side is by investing and hodling whatever amount you can afford to lose so that when others are selling you can deal with the fear and keep holding.

What makes many sell in such circumstance in this crypto market is that amny persons are holding crypto assets above what they can ordinarily afford to lose so in the case of any threatening news they panic to sell.
491  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you take time to read the terms and conditions of casinos before registering? on: January 04, 2024, 07:39:08 PM
Their terms and conditions are lengthy enough to read which make a user annoying and that's why most of people just  quickly agree with them, don't care what is written in those. But i think people should atleast read or should knowledge the some important thing about that casino like about KYC system, VPN is allowed or not and their policy while withdrawal fund. I use to read such thing. And then i check about blog and YouTube videos if they have any serious negative issue or not. I think such information should be checked before joining any Casino. If everything looks good then its good to go.
The lengthiness of the terms and conditions as written are made to discourage users from reading through carefully while about to do the registration. It's a professional technique to make us feel we will be wasting much time tryna read the terms and conditions. Even as that, I'll be very honest that I don't take time to read through word by word but I make sure I scan through for those areas of the ToS that am much interested to know about area's about KYC and others as you have mentioned. It's much better than never reading it at all.

That lenghty long information that will discourage you to take time reading it, I guess it's still best to sort some ideas to make sure that you still in the safe side, like what you mentioned, try to check still things that will allow you to stay safe during your stay inside the house, it will be your protection against anything that may trigger the house rules.

Knowledge is the key and even how long it is, there's always a way to sort important information about how the site works and what are the things that you need to avoid.

Reputation should just be everything we as gamblers should thrust our focus on should be reputation firstly before all else in sorting for more other informations about the casino, could be through reviews from honest users that have had a long experience with the casino. And what I do to help myself with knowing about the terms and conditions is that I take a minute of my free time to read a paragraph or two in those T&C in the areas I haven't touched before, by so doing you can cover a whole lot about the Casino's T&C without feeling the lengthiness.
492  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The is always on gambling, never the individual. on: January 04, 2024, 05:32:33 PM
Why do people blame gamble for their own act of irresponsibility. No one is talking about their own part in their story of bad experience's with gambling, all we get to hear is gambling is bad and a useless activity. Why?
This is because many people see it as easy to put the blame on others than putting the blame on themselves. A similar situation is with a student who writes an exam, and when asked about the results replies saying "the lecturer failed me" instead of saying "I failed the exam" recognizing that it was due to their unpreparedness that they failed the exam. It would have been good for you to openly correct this person instead of only keeping it to yourself.
You can only correct people you know by their appearance and expression about an issue that if you share some words of advise and correction it would not end well between you two, the conversation might likely change another tune because they won't accept their fault. Its obvious in the way he was talking that there's no need. I just want to add this, not every person we see that we should be moved to give correction, at times silence will be the best move and however if you are moved to give corrective advise do well to know your limit and choice of words as not everyone is advisable.
493  Economy / Gambling discussion / The is always on gambling, never the individual. on: January 03, 2024, 09:31:56 PM
The other day someone was talking about how he hates gambling as it nearly ruined his life, and within my mind I was like, no it was not gambling that nearly ruined you it was actually you that tried to ruin your life and that's because you refused to gamble responsibly and discipline yourself by not been capable of differentiating money meant for gambling from money meant for other projects in your life.

Why do people blame gamble for their own act of irresponsibility. No one is talking about their own part in their story of bad experience's with gambling, all we get to hear is gambling is bad and a useless activity. Why?
494  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why do we spam on: January 03, 2024, 09:28:37 PM
There are many reasons why forum members spam apart from fishing for merits and  meeting signature campaign weekly quota. Some persons it could be they are spamming to achieve the total number of posts/activity that should put them to the next rank as they have already gotten the number of merits needed but activity is holding them down because their post count is below for the next rank. To some, which is a very weird reason actually, this persons assume that by posting in almost all boards of the forum a day will give them some recognition and this sort of excitement is mainly found with newbies.
495  Other / Meta / Re: What new changes would you like to see on Bitcointalk in 2024 ? on: January 03, 2024, 08:37:08 PM
Anyone who has been on the forum for a long time has become accustomed to it, I think, as their home place. Innovations, on the contrary, will be an unusual change if they differ sharply from the previous ones. Now that I am visiting other forums, I want to see how simple it is here. Advertising banners, colorful advertisements, likes, and “thank yous” only distract from the necessary information. Therefore, let all this not happen on this forum. He's good for what he is. And that's the beauty of it. Newbies who come here from colorful websites and social networks should rejoice, as the rigor of the design will preserve their vision.
When I joined this forum newly I was actually full of complaints. This is because I came from the social media background and when I entered here I expected some beautiful coloration and better graphics. It was actually the period that I was in the lower ranks that people were complaining seriously about a new software. But as time passes I became accustomed to the nature of this forum and now I appreciate the importance of having a natural forum like this.

I have visited some other forums and including Altcoinstalks recently, there's none to be compared here. This sky blue background preserves my site and gives it the convenience it deserves.
what colorful interface and social media kinds of features will someone of a matured conceptualize mindset be asking for after going around the board's in the forum and seeing how coordinated things work here. Anyone asking for likes/love and other colorful features to be add in the forum should go look for that in other social media platforms, in here we mean real bitcoin business investment interactions and any other real world educative discussions and nothing less. I think newbies should learn to appreciate what they come here to see and find ways to adapt to the forum and not giving irrelevant suggestions of what they saw in other social media platforms. This is what I like to see newbie doing this year.

Sorry to bother the community, but it is a hard time for me now. I am really appreciated to your suggestions, help, instructions of How to earn from Bitcoin, including a job related to Bitcoin, mine, trading, or anything else.
It's a hard time for everybody not just you mate so please apply some brakes and chill. You sound like someone that's desperate and you can be taken advantage of by some black sheep. First before you talk about mining do you have the technical-know-how. And if you want to earn bitcoin you've to get a skill offer some services in the forum or outside the forum. So ask yourself do you possess what it take to be able to earn some bitcoin.
498  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe in gambling experts predictions? on: January 01, 2024, 05:23:45 PM
BIG NO.
A real gambling expert that can be said is like a professional sportsbettor and poker player. If someone is just predicting the possible result, it is not considered as an expert. And definitely he would just like to say that you should gamble and bet huge amounts for both of you to have large possible wins. He is predicting and just taking chances just as you so, there really is no difference at all when you do it on your own and you do not have to share your profits with anybody. That is the difference if you are not gullible unlike the others that are. So always listen to your instincts and do not let someone who is a stranger tell you what to do and how much you are going to gamble because win or lose, he wont lose anything and it is not their money that are put into stake. So please be mindful with that for those gullible folks here.
Things to consider; if the game in question was surely going to play the supposed expert would have stake more money than he has to afford into the game to take back a huge win but rather he gave it to you to use your own money and later share a percentage with him should the game play. At that moment I should be asking myself salient question like doesn't this expert also need this money in full too, why didn't he bet with his own money but me. Another thing, real experts don't share out games and later to be repay with a particular percentage after win, you pay before they will be ready to give out.  They don't going about trolling the internet in search of people to play their games.

Imagine if some day you are out and about, suddenly someone wearing a chicken suit puts a gun to your head forcing you to buy their fast food or they'll shoot you Cheesy

Ref: https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2023/12/359864/mcdonalds-malaysia-sues-pro-palestine-activists-over-boycott
For the sake of my head I'll just buy, and problem solved... Maybe later we can find out why it has gone to that extend of forcing people to purchase their products which I don't think that will be possible if I argue at the time when the gun was pointed to head. Dead men don't tell tales.

It's the first time am hearing about a company suing customers for not purchasing from them so it has to be funny try to grasp what really gave them the courage to take such action. Strange things are happening and this is one of many I have heard.
