Yes people trade bitcoin, and I don't recommend it.. I tend to call it dumb, especially if we are talking about generally what people should be doing, which is not trading  but instead building their BTC stashes... .

That's true , Because one trading  Bitcoin is like waste of resources and time . Because when one start trading with his Bitcoin he or she has already open more doors for losses , expecially when the use of leverages is involved. So the best thing to do to avoid such from happening is to focus on building yah Bitcoin stash, by holding and accumulating Bitcoin .

It could be that I was a bit overly harsh on the idea of trading, and I think part of my issue with folks thinking that they can trade bitcoin, is that ultimately it takes higher level skills (and perhaps some luck too), as compared to more straight forward long term accumulation and holding strategies.

Sure people can make money from trading, and they can even set their trades up in such a way that they will not lose (effectively betting both directions), but it still is not any kind of a practice that anyone should come to bitcoin and presume that they would do better from trading rather than employing some kind of a long term accumulation strategy.
JJG, you have just reminded me of a conversation with a trader friend sometime ago, where he maintained that bitcoin is suitable and profitable for long time holding best instead of trading but many crypto users are yet to know this difference, and that altcoins are what traders should rather cast their focus on as a result of their unreliable nature they are better off for trading which happens to be something of short shot if they can bear the risk of alts.
482  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: April 30, 2024, 02:19:53 PM
Bayern München must win their home game if they want to reach the final. They are unlikely to win away. Whatever they have to do, they have to do it in this game. There's a big opportunity for Harry Kane. He didn't win the German League, but if he wins the Champions League, it would be incredible and it would lift the curse he has on him.
At Real Madrid, Ancelotti has done his mind games again. They made a serious rotation in the last game and saved the main players for this one. The players are fresh, the game will be a very high level of competition. It's very difficult to predict a side. I will not bet on this match, I will just watch and enjoy it.
Why do some of you assume the striker Harry Kane is cursed. Can you tell Who did cursed him?  I only count him among other many legendary players in football history that played so greatly but didn't won a significant trophy in all their career, but hopefully since Kane still has more years to play he could win a trophy to his profile and prove some haters wrong.

I admit, Bayern Müchen have got to secure a win in their home at all cost against Madrid because if they loss it at home they won't be having the liberty of securing such win they probably didn't get at their home in an away game at the  Santiago Bernabéu. At Allianz Arena they have the support of their fans in full capacity to spur them up it's all a home advantage so winning at home becomes imperative so they could struggle for a draw in the second leg away at Madrid ground. It's gonna be a tough match though but I hope Bayern Münich come out victorious anyway.

I also feel that is because of fear even if they have enough to make use of outside from the investment money, these set of people have already set their mind on getting it small and you hear something like "slow and steady wins the race", thats because they started with that mindset and no amount of advise you give that would change that thinking, whenever you ask for emergency funds they have it more than you can think of but they find it hard to lose even if is ½ a penny, these guys are just greedy or should I say stingy?🤔
Tell those set of people next time to see them that they are either lying or have no clue of the real meaning of "slow and steady wins the race", any investor that understands the true meaning of that phrase will know very well on how to utilize the DCA investment strategy with bitcoin for a long term profitability. Am sure that there are some persons that are not born investor while some  have no thorough idea of what mindset an investor should possess. If they really want to make profit in bitcoin then they must have a percentage of bitcoin investment they are willing to buy and hold and can afford to lose under a long term plan.
484  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting for reality not club affection on: April 30, 2024, 08:21:58 AM
Most times we are caught in between placing our bets on our favourite teams to win and not there present form, this action according to analysis shows that it's one of the reasons some persons don't win a sport bet, no matter how hard they try, a team that's not in form or getting the results shouldn't be on your sports betting slip, because they might continue the poor run of form and hurt your ticket, a friend once adviced me never to put my favourite team on my ticket, unless they are in form, am a Manchester United fan but most times I bet against them as long as my ticket is concerned I don't have a favourite team.
I have no problems being a fan of a particular club but I do have problems adding them to my ticket predicting in their favour when I simply knows that they are not in their great form or perhaps their opponent I'm the very match is in a good form more than they are. Any seasoned gambler knows better never to attach in emotions when making his bets, to have a better chance of winning your ticket in football bets you must work with knowledge and information about the team's/league you want to bet on or against and not acting based on emotions because you will never win a single ticket any day.

After an awesome four years in Chelsea, with over 150 games in his belt, Thiago silver is set to part ways with the blues. It's an emotional day for all Chelsea fans and for the legend who initially hard plans to play for the team for a yaer but ended up playing for four whole years building up a names, a legacy and a mark that can't be erased from the club for a long period of time.

Though leaving the team for the moment, Thiago silver is certain that he will return back to the club though not as a player but will occupy a different role.

Dude was passionate in his game and gave in his all to the team. While we wish him well outside of chlesea, I'm supprised that there isn't any good replacement on ground to stand as a worthy replacement that will carry out the leaeerahop role he has played in the team.

El manstro! One of the best defenders that at all times gives his all to his club, none aggressive and very calculative in marking always passionate about the Chelsea badge whenever he is on the pitch you could see his love for the club all over his expression and attitude. A replacement of Thiago Silva shouldn't be a thing done in a hurry to avoid certain mistakes of signing a wrong player to fill that gap and shirt.   Remarkably he won a  UCL to his profile  with Chelsea after many failed attempts with Paris Saint German.

487  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: What has the FCCPC achieved? on: April 29, 2024, 09:43:13 PM
FCCPC to my to my reasoning only made a joke of itself as an agency, you can't imagine that after the parade to selected supermarkets in city's like Port Harcourt, Lagos and Abuja yet nothing of a price reduction took effect on commodities in the market which goes to say there is more that meets the eyes than what we are allowed to know about the very true cause of the rise of goods in the market that not even the government agency could make impact in forcing marketers to fall back to former price or at least to a reduced price .

Right now am buying a litre of fuel for #750, gas for #1300 per kg and I don't want to talk about how a basin of garri moved from #13k to #18k per basin in just a few days interval. Where is Naija economy actually heading to?  Is this government really responding to their responsibility as Thomos Hobbes had stated in his social contract theory?
488  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What will you do if you find yourself in a similar situation like this? on: April 29, 2024, 09:04:42 PM
They really messed up acted foolishly but my advise will be to the parents of the boy. They shouldn't abandon the boy to his own way due to his embarrassing action, the situation is not just about a loss of money but also a loss of trust to them from their son but they should bring him close give him the psychological support he needs to survive out from his addiction to gamble.  Parents should be up to their parental responsibility in taking care of their children, listening to them on areas they are struggling with in their life as doing this can help prevent children from acting immorally giving that discipline.
489  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lottery Fever. What are your range of thoughts in response to Lucky Winners? on: April 29, 2024, 08:31:59 PM
- A woman who quit her job after scratching off a $90,000 lottery windfall.
Isn't stupid for the woman to quit her job? I know that $90,000 is really big for most people including myself, but she live in United States where the average annual salary is $50K, such amount is only 2 years annual salaries. $90K will really make she happy, but it's not something that can change her life..
We can say it was stupid or not as the nature of job and the salary she earns a month isn't known to be attractive or not leading to her choice of quiting. $90k well invested could triple before a year end, and more importantly, not every individual have the ambition of working for people, they want to be self established, self employed having their own company in their name no matter how small it might be in size. It's just their dream.
490  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy Buy Buy or Sell Sell Sell? on: April 27, 2024, 06:17:57 PM
It all depends on the amount of bitcoin the person has accumulate over that interval of one year before you begin to talk about making of profit. If u do not have a sizeable amount of bitcoin in your portfolio you cannot be able to make this profit you are talking about ,especially if you are doing DCA it will take you time to accumulate a reasonable
amount of bitcoin.
The method of collecting Bitcoin to get a larger amount varies from person to person, although the one we see most often now is to use DCA with a certain target time period. Because to achieve a bigger profit target, you definitely have to have a fairly large amount of Bitcoin ownership and that cannot be denied by everyone. That is why most people always pay more attention to their Bitcoin holdings portfolio than others because in Bitcoin everyone can make a profit as long as they have enough patience in collecting it and also have a fairly large amount in their own portfolio.
Basically those are the investors who usually do the DCA in bitcoin to accumulate the bitcoin throughout the bear market. Those are the people who will then sell in the bull market and gain maximum return on Investments. I will not compare them with the traders who have different mind set and who will usually buy and sell multiple times to gain profits.

You are still describing and even trying to worship traders as if you know how to tell the difference between a good trader and a not so good one, when the fact of the matter is that trading does not pay off for an overwhelming number of folks who even attempt it, and in bitcoin, we have had the overwhelming majority of folks profiting from establishing and following a practice that mostly errors on the side of accumulating bitcoin and holding it... not fucking around with trading and trying to believe that you are able to time tops and bottoms.. which is a bunch of bullshit where a lot of folks who try such a thing end up selling too much too soon and making a variety of other mistakes, so there is no need to be worshiping those kinds of practices and trying to act like it is some kind of practice that normies should aspire to.

sometimes, one of the reasons why people  try to just jump into Bitcoin investments in a time they feel the market is bearish hoping to zoom off whenever the market gets bullish is probably because they are still very new to the system and aren't ready for any long tern commitment that will see them to gaining better in the future.

No, I really don't think so about this statement here, I think it's totally contrary to what is happening in today's market, for the few months I have been in this crypto space, I have come to understand that almost all newbies mostly buy during bull season, they only buy when everything are ok, when the market are mostly green, and they start panicking when the market start declining, and that is why the the higher numbers of panic sellers are mostly newbies, because they don't have much belief in Bitcoin, and they mostly sell at a loss when the market start declining, they don't know that Bitcoin have what it takes to bounce back from any setback, because over the years, it has proven over and over again that it can recover it previous value, and it gets better with age, just like a fine 🍷 wine,  so it's only people that have gotten a little bit of knowledge of Bitcoin  and how it works, would know that the best time to buy is during the bear season, or through the DCA accumulating strategy, so my brother, knowledge is key, even in this crypto space.

Yes I do agree with you @barikui1 about what you have enunciated as to why newbies sell at a loss after buying bitcoin. Within the little time left to the halving this past week I observed that the buy rush to partake in the bullrun after the halving wasn't done only by the whale buyers alone, the little fish newbies weren't exempted because that was the time they had set in wait to buy in the belief that immediately after the halving takes place in no time the bull run will start to ride in spiking the price of bitcoin but unfortunately for them the market is unpredictable and with uncertainty, and that means it could take close to a year or more or less for us to experience this very anticipated bullrun. So newbies not understanding this about the market they start panic selling due to delay which wasn't what they had expected. Experience is a powerful guide to buying and holding, but not every buyers has this experience we're talking of.
491  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: April 26, 2024, 04:46:25 PM
When it comes to bitcoin investment, we should not invest all of our money in it so that we will always be able to solve our financial needs when they arise.

This discussion has been treated more than ones here, so I believe every investors or a beginner should be able to understand the concept that keeps their investment healthy and running however I believe this is one of the reasons why at @JayJuanGee introduce the method and the reason why an investor should have an emergency funds and also a reserve funds was actually because of a situation like this so that with a proper utilization of it an investors could hardly run into a problem no matter how it may be, however just like you said is not an investment wise to put in everything you have on investment because with the lack emergency funds or reserve funds their is a big chance of getting into trouble on the process.
It is as a result of the problems of emergency needs that every investor is advised to make room for savings aside while carrying on with the DCA  investment plan. An investor is more likely to make success in his investment having an existing savings plus a reliable income source as it is a dyke against challenges that could make investor tamper with his investment. A good investor should be able to delineate a systematically way of investing because it is out of a lack of knowledge that newbie investors do go all in while investing in bitcoin.
492  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the least risky gambling game at online casinos? on: April 26, 2024, 02:02:26 PM
I've never bet on any online game other than fortune tiger (very little), I want to try something new, but I also want to learn about sports betting and stop just supporting my football team.

Don't worry, if I'm going to bet, it will be after having studied the subject a lot and listening to opinions and recommendations from each answer in this thread.
You can make use of sport betting, football actually, only that you have to really stop been bias when making predictions about the different teams. Just get your analysis right by doing your research on the team's or the football league to have a god knowledge of those teams that are in their superb form for the season. What makes gamblers lose mostly is when they allow their bias interfere with their analysis about a club or a player in a club they like so much, you see them giving such team a win prediction when obviously they don't stand a chance against their opponent.

494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Natural selection explains why bitcoin will always rise on: April 24, 2024, 10:10:37 PM
1- Based on the one shot principle, the proof of work turns blockchain/timechain into a closed system and resistant to fraud

2- Natural selection can only operate within a closed system, and bitcoin creates this closed system

3- (conclusion) - if bitcoin is a closed system, because of the proof of work, then the laws of natural selection apply to bitcoin and in the long therm the losers are removed from bitcoin and this forces only the winners to remain, and the price will go up

Please make me understand what is this natural selection and it got to relate with bitcoin?

And who are these losers you talking about that are behind the price of bitcoin not going up, not until they have been removed that's when bitcoin price will go up?

The only factors among others I know that affects bitcoin price is market news, demand and supply... Am just getting to hear about losers for the first time.
495  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Premier League 2023/2024 Discussion Thread ⚽ on: April 24, 2024, 09:38:28 PM
So far tonight in the premier league is already first half Everton 1-0 Liverpool, Crystal palace 0-0 Newcastle united and Manchester united 1-1 Sheff united can Liverpool be able to level the game before 50 minutes and won the game to enable them maintain with their title race? second half will tell.
Its over for Liverpool, their game has not improved since losing against Atalanta in the Champions League.
They are aiming for 4 trophies this season and in the end they only won the EFL cup.
The worst may yet happen, after Kloop leaves - Liverpool next season might be like Chelsea in this season.
What a Huge win for Everton, it will really be a shock to Liverpool fance to night just imagine Everton that was trash by Chelsea on Monday and today them beat Liverpool by 2 zero I think Atalanta players have really disorganized Liverpool players after their champions league match Liverpool have not recovered and now they are out from premier league title race.
Liverpool's lost tonight is a quite a shameful cleansheet defeat, one similar to that of Arsenal lost to Aston villa last week. It's all an advantage to Manchester City towards the premier league title race and more advantageous is that City still have two outstanding games yet unplayed and that's a potential 6points in advance. Been a Merseyside derby I knew it wasn't going to be a simple game for Liverpool to sail through but I never for once thought they were going to lose it looking at what is at stake in the race.
496  Economy / Economics / Re: What scares me from investing in gold. on: April 24, 2024, 02:29:05 PM
This is why even though many see gold as a valuable investment we can not deny how inconvenient it is to store gold and sell them unlike with crypto where in just a few clicks away you can buy and sell and you can do it at the comfort of your own house. It is one of the many advantages of crypto over gold.
True about the convenience with cryptocurrency but a gold investor can really find convenience with storing gold or sell if he or she have a good depth of the gold market. Every financial instrument has its own peculiar hassles, for crypto storage in a non custodial wallet the investor is faced with the challenge of how to safely keep his wallet seed phrase, just as it is with gold storage a lot of security challenges against theft or cost of storage in a financial institution like bank. For the profitable sell of gold, there are markets an individual can always sell his gold with a fair market price depending on the value of the gold, it just for you to do your research on the market and required procedures depending on your country.
497  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: After Binance: BYBIT and BITGET. on: April 23, 2024, 11:37:01 PM
The government don't want to stop chasing shadows and leave this blame tactics on exchanges and focus internally on the economy and attend to the real issues that is causing the depreciation of the Naira. The immediate predecessor spent it's 8years in government blaming GEJ administration for the failing economy refusing to own up to their inefficiency and lack of plan to drive the economy forward. Now this current administration by Tinubu is about to spend his on pushing the country's economy hardship and the Naira depreciation on exchangers, oh how hilarious. They thought they could manipulate the naira to dictate it value in the market but they couldn't afford to maintain the manipulation for long. I no go lie me de pity my country oh
498  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Do Nigeria Politicians Use Bitcoin to move funds: Ex Gov Yahaya Bello's case on: April 21, 2024, 10:48:43 PM
It has been flying all over the news that the ex governor of Kogi State was accused of an alleged 80.2bn Naira which is equivalent to $64 million, that's a whole lot of money and I remembered what if some of these leaders moving huge are using the Blockchain and still clamp down on us? What do you think?
Do you have substantive backing to your alleged speculations or don't you know this can be seen or used by bitcoin haters to drag bitcoin saying it's a means through which illegal transactions and money are been laundry through. Anyway, if there was any thing of such then the EFCC would have without delay raise an alarm through the press. On that note, I'll like to tell you that those politicians have sources through which they launder these money they steal and not through bitcoin Blockchain.
499  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: April 21, 2024, 09:59:00 PM
I'm sure everyone is waiting for Real Madrid vs Barcelona. It will be an interesting El Clasico. On one side we have Real Madrid, who eliminated Manchester City in the semifinals of the Champions League. On the other side, we have Barcelona, who lost their place in the semifinals by eliminating Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League. Both teams have had a completely different week. Both teams have a very different mood. But derby matches always have a different atmosphere. Real Madrid will undoubtedly use their home advantage. I think they are the favorites in this match.
To predict the final result of an El Clasico match, we can't just look at the 2 or 3 matches that Madrid or Barca have gone through, the El Clasico tension is very high and both teams have big ambitions to beat each other

currently the El Clasico match is underway and We see the current score is 1-1, but as hosts Madrid's chances of winning are more certain than Barcelona's

In this match, Barcelona used a pretty good formation, but the strategy that Xavi used was not that special, he moved De Jong to the wing midfielder while he placed Gundongan as a central midfielder
Seriously, I wasn't expecting Real Madrid to experience the kind of difficulty they're currently facing in their game against Barcelona but unfortunately for them, that their reality at the moment. Barcelona was able to score inside the first six minutes of the game through Andreas Christensen to take a surprise lead before Real Madrid drew level when Vinicius Jr converted from the spot.
Real Madrid has been the better team regardless and if they continue to press for a win in the game, they're very likely to get a winner in the game.
Eventually Madrid got a win against Barcelona after much pressure was rekindled into the game. Barcelona isn't a small side that Madrid should at ease secure a win over them in the manner you are putting. Moreover, this is a team that are just recovering from an intensed champions league battle fatigue against Manchester City so you don't expect them to start the game tonight with an offensive approach. The crux of it all at the end is that Madrid did secured 3 points in this El'classico by Winning 3-2 and that's what count.
500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why bitcoin transactions fees gone high and will be be increasing day by day? on: April 21, 2024, 08:27:38 PM
Op the cause  is congestion in the recent halving block. A lot of persons tried as much as possible just to make sure that their transaction is added and confirmed In block #840,000 which is the most recent halving block. Therefore there was a great deal of competition for block space on the network causing fees to rise. However unfortunately a couple of users still paid those fees.
Currently the fees are still very high but according to most speculations it would probably return to normal within a couple of weeks or even less. If you observe closely you will even notice that fees are actually gradually going back to normal.

Yesterday I tried executing a transaction  worth $25 for a an urgent request, couldn't believe it when I saw the tx fees for it was $21 as charged. I had to abandon it and go for another alternative to satisfy that request. I checked again today and discovered the fees  has dropped, so yea, it's possible it won't even get up to a week or more before the fees drops to normal. Peradventure the fees doesn't normalize within the shortest time then it should be understood that there may be miners manipulation involved to rake profits to their side using the halving as a wash-up excuse.
