I agree that it's a lot to wade through, and I've considered doing something similar, but I have some concerns. First is dealing with DDOS and hack attempts...

What about just using wordpress's own hosting, would that be DDOS proof.

Also there's a Two factor authentication plugin for wordpress. Blogspot supports tfa too

You're going to find it hard for anything that doesn't have lots of $$$$$$ signs in it being anywhere close to DDoS proof.

Pardon my stupidity and forgive me for not reading the entire thread (this may have been discussed already), but couldn't Roman just buy bitcoins and send us BTC at the current value of what he owes us?
Rather than never receiving the few hundred dollars he owes me, I'd rather receive a couple of BTC.
I really hate the idea of lawsuits.

Agreed.  Not sure if Roman has thought of it, or if there are legal implications that he has to consider in the decision, but I'd happily accept my payment in the form of bitcoins instead of USD.

+1

and would be willing to check mark a box somewhere indicating such. Even if it took a few extra days.

Or, since you have my ID and my address on it, you could mail me a check. That's okay, take $5 out for the stamp, envelope and processing time and send me the balance.

There is an updated posted on their website and twitter.

We have received the check and are working on a way to start returning funds. We do not yet have an ETA, but understand everyone is anxious to get their money back and we are trying to make that happen as quickly as possible.

That is from their website.

I'm honestly surprised this doesn't have more activity than it does. Perhaps it's simply because of the nature of bitcointalk. You ought to make a little website to streamline the process and appear more professional, and thus, trustworthy. Maybe. Like how BitSpend and BitSumo got such reputation from the reddit and twitter reviews?

I've got to bump it every now and then. I get PM's and people get their phones unlocked. It seems that the service this offers, privacy with a phone being unlocked, my customers do not like to post all over that they have used the service.

It is being used. If for this week, I'll throw a special ending on the 17th of May, if you use my service and review me in the thread I'll refund 20% of your payment for your review.

I do have a domain for it, just setting it up to be automatic is a little more difficult. People usually have a couple of questions they want answered first. It will save everyone some money for me to confirm for the hundredth time that no, I do not unlock Verizon phones Smiley

"1bitcoin" was wasted on the bitcoineater, but I nabbed firstbits "1bitcoins". Somebody had to get it.
I could have waited until I found a better looking address, but it took long enough to find this:

Code:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Bitcoin\daemon
#bitcoind importprivkey 5JXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX 1bitcoins

C:\Program Files (x86)\Bitcoin\daemon
#bitcoind signmessage 1BiTCoinSNU2BMzf2cN2TK4yzPUA6CnTAd deepceleron
HL5QyzfI9Gp3owXa+d91xVN1zzW8p1XMU+Hn8IvKdifEFcdRcoYZQqfTECS4OypRnetwVs9x+k1fKeIFmAsw6n8=

I like this one a lot. Congrats. I don't know if OP is still around, but this one should be added IMHO.

Sorry, but record not tied by a factor of 100x. I did a 10 character dictionary for a while, the file date is 1/24/2012:

By the way, I'm not trying to be a dick (never was), so you can cut your prick attitude.

Yeah, deep celeron has you salughtered with his 10 characters and his are in he block chain.

No one is being a prick, you just haven't followed everything in the first post for the hall of fame addresses. You need it in a block chain and you need to sign something proving it is yours.

Signature proof will provide the address, text that you are signing, and then the signature. If those are signatures below, I need to know what text you signed to verify it. But first you need the first bits in the block chain, can be a single satoshi.

Deep celeron, sign your earliest address so OP can put it in there for longest vanity so far.
487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Rare address hall of fame on: May 10, 2013, 03:01:43 PM
Surprised that only 9 letters is the current max. I compiled a list of 9 and 10 letter words. Oclvanitygen says I should find a 9 letter word in about 2-4 hours, and a 10 letter word in about 5 days with my 660ti pumping out about 20mkeys/s.

I'll let it run for a few hours while I do my laundry and post what I get Cheesy

Edit: didn't get anything, I'll just let it run, added in -k and -o for a results file... Will post in the morning, should defiantly get some by then.

Does your list have just a dictionary of words? The record is 9, so you would want just 10 or greater if you plan to beat it. I'm sure that would change the probability a lot.

There is a huge difference between searching for any 9 letter word vs 1dictionary. Are you looking for case sensitive as well? Toss an -i on there and it should go even faster.

No, wasn't looking for case sens lol, oops. Ether way, I found these overnight. Record tied Cheesy:

Pattern: 1CoRNCRiBS
Address: 1CoRNCRiBS7Jg1KmRf5r1N7N3LeLg6cMua

Pattern: 1HiCCUPPED
Address: 1HiCCUPPEDPNaLUGVvvC9USMvon1YyHzFq

Pattern: 1ALooFNESS
Address: 1ALooFNESSm1bZbS61DLc6rq4KRZSg61he

Furthermore when I add the -i, it seems it makes way too many words and errors me out:

Okay, you've got it tied... no one cares, you weren't the first and not in the block chain. Now do a 10 digit, get it in the chain and sign something proving you had it. If you take all the 9's out, what is your ETA for finding a word? The style that it is finding makes it look like it is already not looking for case sensitive.

490  Local / Espaņol (Spanish) / Re: Hola Comunidad espaņola, estoy buscando una esposa on: May 09, 2013, 08:11:35 PM
que curioso...

si no entiendo mal, quieres una esposa latina a cambio de btc y le ofreces tambien la residencia y papeles... pero esa "esposa" debe estar interesada en cobrar en bitcoin claro...
ayudaria fotos y precio en bitcoins...

He uses translate.google.com to post, so it will not be very clear. My spanish is poor, so I'm going just to post this in english, feel free to translate yourself and hopefully it comes across better.

He wants to pay for the services of finding a wife. He wants a latin wife, he calls them a whitey. Someone who acts like an American, but would agree to be his wife so that they could come to the United States.

He will pay someone in BTC for providing their services with helping him complete the arrangement.

It sounds more like trolling than anything else. He had another thread and was advised to make a post here because he doesn't speak spanish nor have any contacts in the Latin community.

He wants to buy a wife that will give him sex.

Some people don't know, but unlocking your phone before selling can add significant value. Check ebay prices of locked vs unlocked to see what I mean!

I still don't understand why a payment processor like pitpay shouldn't be a considerable option.

what is pitpay? I googled and see nothing but pages of japanese text, aboutorg pages and spam.

I think he means bitpay. You sign up as a merchant, accept BTC, they transfer it to you in BTC or your choice of fiat.

36 BTC.
498  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: [MTGox Sued 5/2/2013] Statement Regarding Formal Complaint on: May 03, 2013, 07:23:15 PM
And the price of coin plummets....

Yeah, cash out of your coins into USD that MtGox holds lol. Price should be sky rocketing while you get your coins out.

When the market gets really crazy and bad news starts piling up, I don't try to profit anymore.  I'm happy with what I've made and can comfortably weather the storms.  No, the first thing I do is move my BTCs from exchanges into offline wallets.  I don't want them seized and I can move them so much more easily than USD.

Precisely, emphatically, and wholeheartedly this ^^^.

The rest of my quote was cut off when I was quoted. I've added the rest of my quote back. The lol, is wtf are people doing that for? Selling all their coins for cash? If you're worried, sell your USD for cash and just like proudhon said, get them in your possession which bitcoin makes oh so wonderfully easy.
499  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 03, 2013, 04:21:16 PM
Here's a better quote one quoting Slush saying they do not support NMC on stratum.

I just checked the Slush stats, and I can't stop wondering why Slush with 8Ths is making dozens of times less nmc blocks than bitminter pool with its 5.8Ths: https://bitminter.com/blocks?commodity=NMCHuh

I think he explained that earlier...

Quote
Stratum pool don't have support for Namecoin (yet), so around 30% of hashpower isn't mining for Namecoin. Still you should have higher namecoin income than on other pools, because quite a lot people didn't filled NMC address...

I'm considering to drop of NMC support, because this project is basically dead and current merged mining sources are incompatible with latest bitcoin development (no support for merged mining over getblocktemplate etc). There's no project development since merged mining has been introduced in last October...

Thanks for the info  Smiley. I couldn't find that information on the website. Profit wise its better to support nmc, as it gives ~8% extra profit, at no expense. So when pool OP says that he's not going to support something that gives profit, while its a known fact that most pools are barely making any profit to stay competitive, it doesn't make any sense. Anyway, I wish Slush low CDF to make enough btc for a good website UI =).
500  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 03, 2013, 04:20:03 PM
Why not merged mine NMC at a pool with merged mining? (not sure if btcguild still has it). Could be earning 108% more.

Stratum protocol doesn't support NMC. 108% more sounds misleading, do you mean 108%? Or do you mean 8% more?

hmm, if earning is 100, then 100 * 108%, what do you get? or did I learn math wrong?

Stratum does support NMC, mine at bitminter.com and you'll see.

Slush also supports Stratum with NMC. And it's 8%-ish more, or 108% of what we're now getting (not net of fees, of course, and Slush's are lower than 3%). Can't speak to bitminter. I'd also like to see the hashes spread out a bit whenever possible.

That isn't accurate from what I've read. Slush only supports NMC on getwork which has a huge fee.

Also..  want to make a pitch (again) about merged mining nmc, dvcm ixc under stratum.  I know they may be dead coins to some, but they still can be converted to btc - at least nmc - because the conversion to btc rate is enough to make it noticable when the btc rates are as high as they are..
