481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: hypothesis: BU motivations (NO PROOF) on: April 03, 2017, 08:07:10 PM
I think that BU legitimately thinks that they are choosing the way forward, I think the miners are the bad actors here skewing everyones vision. Even Roger I think believes he is doing the right thing, if not he would sell all of his coins and could live like a king for the rest of his life.
482  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Launched: PiCoin [POS+POW] [SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN=AIRDROP] on: April 03, 2017, 08:05:15 PM
Sent Picodev a message, just posting here as well, not sure if we have to link our receiving address, but the guy above me did, so I guess I will too. 3D1BKxzTUgs4sdRDnzTXfPQfxo2jxKZ7Qg

Looking forward to wednesday for the airdrop!

Nice , I got PI going and looking into stellar, UR looks like a waste of time in my opinion with all the referrals.
484  Economy / Economics / Re: How a cashless society could kill Bitcoin. on: April 03, 2017, 07:42:00 PM
Bitcoin's strength isnt in doing daily payments that I could use a credit card or in the future digital fiat currency for. Bitcoin's strength is in censorship resistance and store of value, things that the government would have a very hard time shutting down. If they wanted to, the most effective method would be to go after exchanges and making it impossible for any company to do business with them. The vast majority of people dont want to keep their money in bitcoin forever.
485  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: RIP Bitcoin, better luck next time on: April 03, 2017, 07:34:31 PM
The miners are all talk, they arent going to mine on the chain that is valued at less money. Some might because roger is paying them to, but they are going to do what is most profitable.
486  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: April 03, 2017, 07:20:31 PM
Are service nodes released yet, or only on the testnet and we have to wait for the block explorer to be released?
487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how has your attitude to bitcoin changed the longer you've been into it? on: April 03, 2017, 05:47:06 PM
My attitude has very much been the same, but I definitely have seen the community shift gears in the last 2 or so years. The infighting has been a bit disheartening and the sense of us against the world has changed into us against us.
488  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin implants? on: April 03, 2017, 05:25:30 PM
Not sure if I want to incentivize someone cutting off my hand or digging in it with a knife to get to my wallet.
489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HLM] HELIUM - PRE NOTICE on: April 03, 2017, 05:24:00 PM
Fair enough, do you think that the coin is going to launch at some point this month or are we looking at may, june, july, ect? ( Doesnt have to be exact just what you are roughly planning for)

This is a very serious project that runs many years in the making, so we are taking our time with the launch to ensure it is done right. As soon as we have a firm date for Helium to launch we will be making that known to the public.

For the Masternode system, is the plan for masternodes going to be to have a fixed price like dash, or something dynamic and market competitive like spreadcoin ?
490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: April 03, 2017, 04:22:27 PM
Seems to be working okay for the time being. I was overclocking my 1070 which might have been the problem, I guess well see if I find a block. Btw was the testing masternode idea for spreadcoin dropped?

Edit: It looks like service nodes are the masternodes of spreadcoin, but I cant seem to find a definitive guide to getting one started. If anyone could be of help and link a thread/guide or something I would be very appreciative.
491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you store your bitcoins? on: April 03, 2017, 04:16:55 PM
I absolutely love my trezor personally. Very easy to use, bought one for my dad as well. The only thing im not a fan of is how when I send coins it will break them up and send it to a new address. Makes tracking my coins a pain logistically.

Is solo mining still the only option here? I dont know if I want to leave my computer running for days at a time just hoping to get lucky and find a block.

yes don't worry you can find plenty fo block with one gpu, i'm mining with one 1070 and i'm finding 6 blocks per day on average, spreadcoin use block time that are 1 minute so it's good for solo

What is your setup for the 1070? I keep running into a problem where my miner bugs out and says found a solution nonce result nonce does not validate on cpu.
Are you just running the basic example bat file ? Does the miner have to be placed somewhere in particular ?

All I did when I first started was watched the video by e1ghtspace, that was it and I was up and running. I've never seen the problem with it not validating.

Are you running an Nvidia GPU ? Also is your wallet encrypted ?

IMO pool mining in fact adds to decentralization rather than centralization. The real problem comes with ASICS or any device where the supply can be limited by the the producer like with what we are seeing with bitcoin. Miners have the power they do because they have in person connections with asic manufacturers. The lack of pools will eventually create the outcome where a few people are running huge GPU mining operations because they know they eventually are going to find a block as opposed to someone who is just going to go to a coin that can be mined in a pool and have their work paid more reliably.
495  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is BU an attack on Bitcoin? on: April 03, 2017, 07:49:46 AM
I think that BU generally thinks they are choosing the right way forward for bitcoin, I dont agree, but I dont think they are an attack on bitcoin itself. Many of them are old timers who have been here forever, they just want a different way forward.
496  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: April 03, 2017, 07:48:15 AM
how many bitcoin been linked right now?

also maybe we should ask bittrex list byteball coin.

Honestly the longer off bittrex the better for the time being. With Bittrex and polo come the big dumps.
497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: defend bitcoin on redit pixel art on: April 03, 2017, 07:43:25 AM

Been using my pixels to repair things, a lot of people trying to mess things up though. I want to make an r/ in front of the bitcoin just to piss off BU. But im sure they will delete it in droves.
498  Other / Off-topic / Re: In 20 years, what would you like to do with your bitcoin? on: April 03, 2017, 07:42:03 AM
Retire and hopefully I wont be dead. Who knows if it will actually happen though. The price would need to go up much much higher for me to ever retire on.
499  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: @RogerVer lets make a deal. At least 60k, my BTU for your BTC. on: April 03, 2017, 07:38:51 AM
hes never going to do it, which is why he hasnt done it yet despite saying he would. Even if he was going to ditch all of his core coins, he would do it at a market price which is definitely not 1:1.
500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitCoin 20 Years From Now on: April 03, 2017, 07:37:45 AM
I think theres a possibility for bitcoin to just stay as a niche thing for a long time and never even break into the mainstream market. I hope this doesnt happen as if it breaks into the mainstream, most of us will be rich , but its definitely a possibility.
