481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Qora | POS | Assets | Names | Polls | Automated Transactions | Social Network on: March 21, 2018, 01:17:13 PM
so, there is still not any exchange list our QORA? just can trade OTC now? OpenLedger DEX have no active trade there , and waht is the Circulating Supply now?
I don't think it is time to worry about exchange.
As long as we have a brand new Qora with many great features, we will see many exchanges listing it.

We should try to get on BarterDex on Komodoplattform. It also includes many trade pairs and it is much more comfortable to use than Openledger and other decentralized exchanges. I trade every day on the platform and I like it.

I agree BarterDEX would be awesome for Qora, but I'm not sure if it would be compatible, as Qora is unique, and BarterDEX so far works with bitcoin based coins, ETH and erc20.

Maybe Qora dev team could contact KMD slack for advice, and maybe offer support to their devs to add Qora.

483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: March 21, 2018, 06:59:33 AM
These events like coincheck hack remind me of Spartan mothers leaving their new born babies outside overnight, it weeds out the weak, leaving the strong to become badass motherfucking warriors. XEM survived the cold night, and now becomes badass warrior. If a crypto Can't benefit from being the source of the biggest theft in history, it deserves to die!

Point taken, but what an awful analogy! NEM is an inanimate object. It has its value but it's not alive. Leaving newborn babies exposed to the elements is plain cruel. Just makes me cringe as a parent.

LOL the analogy sucks but I agre than NEM made it through the dark night
Many coins take years ... The exchange was great to refund the customers unlike some other shit exchanges which got hacked recently

Shows the difference between professionally run exchange like Coincheck and a shady job exchanges which are dime a dozen

Yes, leaving newborn babies outside in the cold is horrible, but it did weed out the weaker ones, strengthened the gene pool, and made Sparta strong. Forget the analogy if it upsets you, but I fear too many cryptos with billions in marketcap are very weak, easily damaged, and beneath a thin veneer of 'decentralization' are actually highly centralised with unaccountable governance, multiple points of failure, and dependent on a few key people to keep things 'credible' for investors.

The recent wave of FUD and media scare campaigns is good if it weeds out the weak cryptos, and a mega hack is nothing compared to a full frontal government assault like a outright ban. Crypto needs to survive that if it's going to survive long term, and out of +1500 coins I only see 3-4 that would.

Take XMR for example, all it would take to have it crumble into a pile of dust would be news that Ricardo Spagni was on his knees in a South African prison servicing other inmates after being arrested on trumped up charges if anonymous coins were ever banned, and remaining XMR dev team would vaporise into thin air. Same for Z-cash with Zooko Wilcox, if he gets called into the FBI for a chat, Z-cash goes in the toilet.

In a few years crypto will likely be a battleground, with key people getting arrested for SEC violations and people will do jail time for some ICO abuses. When that happens only the Spartan coins will survive, and even a 500mil hack will look like a smack on the bum, not a night outdoors for a newborn. It's coming guys, WAR
484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: March 21, 2018, 12:39:03 AM
The hacker is still moving XEM from account to account, and eventually into exchanges - primarily onto Bittrex. He probably has stolen identities and whatever else necessary to create the accounts. Pretty good sign that he hasn't been busted.
Last I checked there was 70mil XEM remaining in his last wallet, with ~30mil still in exchanges.
Hopefully he dumps it all sooner, rather than later. I think we are all ready for thought of him still having XEM to be over with.

I think it's best if we all look at the bright side of this, whether or not the hacker gets away.
1. He crashed price, giving us excellent buy opportunities.
2. Drew much attention to exchange security, resulting in actions to strengthen it.
3. One could claim he played a robin-hood role of sorts, redistributing tax (fees) to us lowly plebes.
4. Proved NEM blockchain tech. - A. It can't or won't be manipulated by a big boss or a government. B. It can be traced, even when laundered, and even by average joes like myself. C. NEM chain can securely handle large volumes of transactions even without Catapult implemented yet!

Those are all excellent points, especially 1, 2, and 4. The "redistribution" was theft, plain and simple, and in a way he didn't just steal from Coincheck. He stole from all of us holding NEM, especially anyone who was in a position where they needed to sell for any reason (such as paying a bill) while the price is depressed due to his/her actions.

But with that said, this kind of thing happens in crypto, and we pretty much have to expect it for the time being.

485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 21, 2018, 12:20:56 AM
Monero is flying under the radar, and riding on the goodwill towards bitcoin. The regulators are years behind and don't even understand bitcoin yet. By the time the full impact of bitcoin on the economy is known, regulatory regimes are set up, etc. it will be too late to stop Monero. We'll have decentralized exchanges and atomic swaps.

I agree, functioning p2p decentralised exchanges are already here, BarterDEX has successfully done atomic swaps between bitcoin based coins and ethereum, and just recently between bitcoin based and erc20 tokens, that's over 90% of crypto in existence. Once they add XMR atomic swap capabilities it's game over,  regulators will be playing catch up for the next decade, torrents 2.0

Centralised exchanges could all be selling user data like Facebook, or handing over to governments all they wanted, and even if anon crypto is banned people are still free to use. The final piece of the puzzle is one government backed crypto compatible with BarterDEX to provide a bridge to forex and other fiat, and it's game-set-match!
486  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: March 20, 2018, 09:45:10 AM
I'm surprised community pool idea didn't fly this time, only whales with +500k KMD can affect individual candidate chances to win a NN, community pool would have given small guys a chance to pool votes and then get 100% of net profits. No brainer idea, I think too much apathy for small investors, leave the whales to negotiate the deals for much less % in private. If a guy is really committed to getting a notary he will pay for his chance, so he probably makes a good operator, but community pool would share all profits with small hodler, so no need for whales at all. Crazy, epic fail little guys  Grin

Good point, community pools likely next year, if KMD hits a new ATH this year it's a certainty almost. I read some people saying profit share is too small to bother with, well my bank pays 2% on a 12 month term deposit, so it's all relative IMO.

For argument's sake, assume a community pool won a notary with ~1 mil VOTES/KMD, so NN yearly net profits were divided into 1 mil pieces. Do the math, at KMD=10USD and ~1500 KMD NN profits per month,

1500*10 USD*12 months = 180K profit

With 10mil KMD invested, that would be ~1.8% return. I don't know what running a NN would cost, but if KMD exceeds 10 USD later this year a community pool could be offering competitive % rates with a bank term deposit, and everyone would still have access to their KMD.

Joystream was bought by Bitmain and now launching on bcash so you can earn bcash by seeding.

Ouch, the dev needs to release something asap, before the vtr community evaporates  before his eyes completely
488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: March 20, 2018, 07:12:30 AM
The election is on a slow simmer now, not many VOTES cast yet. I wonder if many candidates will tweek their proposal as we get closer to the end, is that even allowed?

If a candidate was just a few thousand VOTE from getting a NN could they do some last minute pork barrelling or deal making , temptation will be high. Next 10 days will be fascinating to watch.

I honestly can't decide who to vote for yet, I expected more candidates would be buying VOTE with profit deals for voters,  just to get elected , and then try and stay in the top 30 thereafter,  it's hard to compare promises like "we'll do great things for KMD with some profits", some guys last year seemed to make commitments that weren't exactly met, but too vague  to quantify effectiveness of things like promotion and going to conferences. My father in law is an academic and he openly admits he only submits papers to conferences now, never journals, and only to visit cool places. He reckons he's recycled 5 articles and travelled on the universities dime +20 times for awesome holidays. I get the feeling crypto conference circuit is a bit the same, but hey, if you get a NN, and you promote KMD, all power to you!
489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DTMI Token on: March 20, 2018, 12:52:06 AM
Well shit... Looks like I've lost all my DT Token/Jio in swaps that I didn't keep up with.  Figured this was a dead coin and I was out all of my money anyway... But is it actually alive?  If so, anything I can do to reclaim my 390k tokens?

so these dt tokens on bittrex are now rendered useless? some shady swap happened ?

Yes and Yes, this dev has not delivered anything in 5 years, just recycling fake news and photoshopped docs trying to pretend he is making important cutting edge deals, it's all BS, and then he can't even organise a swap fairly.

Any genuine supporters left a long time ago, in 2014 i thought Lee Gibson Grant might deliver something useful in crypto, now i lost all faith, he is either incompetent,  a scammer , or probably both. His history of asset creations and token swaps and dodgy exchange dumps could easily end up with him in court, maybe prison.

Hi dbkeys,

Do we have a date for the listing on Binance? I have an answer from Binance by the end from the month....

Thanks

A bit early for April fools, isn't it?
491  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CryptoKingdom Uncensored on: March 19, 2018, 02:09:42 AM
It would be a good idea to have Crypto Wars.

To group certain cryptocurrencies in groups that would fight against eachother.

Good idea!

big blockers vs small blockers
PoW vs PoS
XMR vs Z-cash
SIA vs STORJ

 etc

Lots of great match ups in the cryptosphere,

Wishing every candidate the very BEST for upcoming elections.

38 candidates participating in the election. Complete list here

https://github.com/KomodoPlatform/vote2018

It makes more sense to count the multiples separately, that makes about 54 candidates going for 30 spots afaik

URHOC was a very interesting experiment. How to build and mantein a community of dreamers without nothing. Nice Smiley

Yes, but could someone fork the experiment, and keep it going for another season. Breaking Bad didn't get really 'interesting' until season 2, we need better memes.
494  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CryptoKingdom Uncensored on: March 15, 2018, 11:08:58 PM
Let's give this new way a try.

+1

We can go around in circles forever arguing about the depo debts, or we can get behind this fork and try and make a version of the game playable again. Either get on-board, or don't, Loaf has obviously thought everything through, and he's the one investing his time and energy into this, and he isn't going to change his roadmap now.

The swap wasn't fully honoured anyway, drachmae makes up the rules as he goes along.

We have talked about donations one time for starting the game, lots of people have pledged lots of XMR, in hundreds.
We could easily gather the money to develop the game.

In order to ensure full support of the current community, and fairness among all, I urge Loaf to distribute Ristos assets to people who he has an outstanding B1 debt with.

I ensure him, that certainly huge donations can and will be gathered among the people from ingame assets, M, XMR and BTC.
And honoring the current agreements will ensure the support of the fork among previous players of Crypto Kingdom.

There's no reason not to try raising donations for those that want to continue with CK legacy and want the Game to honor Risto's debts, but if people want to go with a fork, so be it. This isn't an either/or choice, you can support CK legacy and this fork at the same time, I don't think anyone is happy about this, but the reality is the Game is dead unless something happens now.

Which part do you not understand?
I'm aware it's a fork, and I have no say in it, but I'm trying to urge Loaf to reconsider this.

Quote
The Game has been stalled for 2 years now, Loaf has devs working on new code and design for the Game, I don't like what happened with Risto's depo debts, but it's his responsibility to pay, not the Game or any other players. If Loaf starts a CK fork, he calls the shots in that fork only.

So why are HIS assets not being used to pay other players?  Cheesy

I'm aware we currently have no alternative, but saying we should shut up and not talk to Loaf is wrong.
A game doesn't grow without a clash of ideas.
His word is going to be the last, since it is his fork, but we can still talk to him and hope he listens Smiley

I'm sorry, I did not say you should shut up and not talk, of course you should try and convince people towards your point of view.

and will not be dealing with any of those upaid depository transactions that Risto incurred.

But the game is going to take Ristos assets?

Don't his assets belong to the people who have an unpaid debt from his charachter?

In Loaf's forked version of CK Risto's assets are being used to pay for dev costs and marketing, in another fork Risto's assets could be used to pay his debts from the original CK, in another fork Risto's assets could just be deleted from the Game DB, in another they could be airdropped onto leprechauns.

The original CK will still exist, this is a fork, and as we all know from bitcoin history forks aren't universally supported, and everyone will be free to dump their CK fork assets and not participate if they don't like what's happening.

I don't see any other choice now, Speed has gone dark on his reboot and fund raising, Loaf is having a shot at a fork, what else is there? The game needs dev funds.

What happens if you want to move your tokens for security reasons, like onto a ledger or trezor, can you apply to move 100% of your coins to a new address and still keep the bonus status?

You should have had them sent there in the first place.

Security is always dynamic, things change, your answer is pathetic
Your method is pathetic. You should have read first, then you would have known that they cannot be moved if you want the bonus. Now you're the victim of your own negligence.

Ok, you're right, nobody should ever move coins, thanks for the lesson Dad!
