4801  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whitelist Requests (Want out of here?) on: July 19, 2012, 01:51:46 AM
I am a lurker and i only made this account so i can send a pm to someone
i have a few transactions on bitcoin-otc http://bitcoin-otc.com/viewratingdetail.php?nick=sedric398&sign=ANY&type=RECV

Whitelisted.

Please whitelist User ID: macer

He works for memorydealers.com and designed bitcoinchipin.com and has more good things in the works.

Thank you.
Whitelisted.

I would like to be whitelisted if it is not too much trouble. I will be posting in the market place, as I would like to see if anyone's interested in me making custom roguelikes or turn-based strategy games for them for a very small fee. Anyone who is interested would not have to pay me until their game is finished, and they also only have to pay if they like it. This way you know I'm not a scammer.
I just read the first post in this thread again, and realized that I need to prove that I know more about bitcoin than the average user. Sorry about that. I will do that right now. I have been a bitcoiner for probably a little over a year now, lurked on the forums without an account for hours on end. I was really into bitcoin, but then got to sucked up in real life issues. Now I am coming back into the world of bitcoin. As far as the technical side goes, I do not know much. I know that it is a peer to peer network that uses public-private key pairs for security. I know that the network grows stronger when there is more miners, which are people using their gpu's (or cpu's, but that is pretty much impossible,) to crack the current hash or "block." I also know a tiny bit of economic and business history of bitcoin. I know that bitcoins started out worth next to nothing, and I remember the story about the guy who paid 10,000 BTC for a pizza. When I first got into bitcoin, they were around $0.80, and quickly rose to parity with the US Dollar. Eventually, they soared to amazing heights, hitting $30 per bitcoin! (I had a bunch of BTC from when it was $0.80, so I made a lot of money off of that.) MTGox was (and probably still is,) the biggest bitcoin exchange. It used to be owned by someone else (can't recall his username.) And it also didn't used to be a bitcoin exchange. MTGox actually stands for Magic The Gathering Online eXchange. Last time I checked, it is now owned by magical tux. I remember the first mtgox hack, the mybitcoin theft, and my favorite hack, the cosbycoin hack on these very forums (I laughed my ass off that day!) I remember Atlas, all his suicide threats, and his eventual banning from the forums. I remember when the first bitcoin forks started to pop up (namecoin, iocoin, ixcoin, litecoin, solidcoin,) and all the controversy (especially with CoinHunter/RealSolid.) That is all I can come up with for now. Let me know if I should tell more. Now, how about a whitelist, John?
Sorry, I'll need more pressing evidence then this or if someone established would vouch for you. Are you rated on Bitcoin-OTC?
4802  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HOW TO CREATE A BITCOIN EXCHANGER? on: July 19, 2012, 01:42:40 AM
Ok thx for the info,i try to search davout here but cannot find it.
He isn't very active on the forums, but I think that if he had some advice to give to you it would be : "don't".
The actual code that runs the exchange is the easy relaxing part. The hard part is all the rest.

Code = easy
Dealing with banks, accounting, security, customers, taxation, lawyers, monitoring, automation = hard & stressful

Make a solid plan and leave the code thing as the last thing you'll do.

And better find a good one - you don't want to wake up and see all the coins in your server stolen.
And I don't have time to provide personalized code-level support to potential competition Smiley

Ok thanks for the input,i'll keep that in mind.
I think the same like u too, after the code is finish & setup,im thinking how & what to run this exchanger.
Yes it will be hard & stressful, but if the exchange run automaticly,
For example..we can drive the customer to do a deposit / withdrawl via bitinstant code,
Im sure we can minimize the hard & stressful.
Unfortunetly bitinstant havent available for my country currency.
Do u know where i can find bitinstant source code?

Thank u

Our serverside code isn't open but if you're interested in integration then get in touch and we can help you out with API client code.

What country are you in?
He's in Indonesia.
4803  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Moved wallet.dat to another comp., no adresses nor money :-\ (0.1 BTC bounty :) on: July 19, 2012, 01:41:56 AM
If blockchain.info shows that the receiving address has the coins, and you have the wallet to that address, your coins is safe.If everything fails, you can use pywallet at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34028.0 to extract your privatekeys. Alternatively, you can use the 'bitcoind dumpprivkey' command on CMD at the Bitcoin Client directory (Assuming windows) to get the privatekeys. Import the keys to Blockchain.info's online wallet and send the coins to a new, working wallet.dat.

edit: removed an address from my previous post.

When trying to extract the privkey:

moved my wallet.dat file onto another computer which got all the block-updates fin the wallet app, but then all my coins and addresses were gone! ):

If you moved between XP and Windows Vista/Wiindows 7, know that there is a different directory used.

Also, always close the client before backing up or restoring the wallet.dat.

Its W7 to W7, and both are in appdata/bitcoin  Smiley

Stop bitcoin/d
Remove any database/log* files from your bitcoin data directory
Run the rescan process again

Same as the other -rescan  Undecided

All also note that the block database (?) in the other never got to 100%, but were stuck around ~61%

And that also means that the wallet-balance were 0 as I moved the file.

"blockexplorer.com" is listing that I have some balance (:
I'm guessing that there's a password for your wallet.dat.
Try the pywallet method. It's the first method I try when there's something wrong with my wallet as it supports encrypted wallets too.
4804  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: escrow service - Definit on: July 19, 2012, 01:33:48 AM
I am a noob, and I am in need of some assistance from a member named Definit. Can somebody who knows him or has the ability to message other members contact him and tell him I need his assist with an escrow service. Someone gave me his name as an escrow service. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
You can try asking reputable people like hashking (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=50347), Patrickharnett (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=26841) to see if they'll be the escrow. They run Bitcoin lending services, and have offered their services as escrow holders too.
4805  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [BitcoinMax.com] Paying 6.9% per week... Small accounts welcome. on: July 19, 2012, 01:30:57 AM
if the forum is down, email admin @ payb.tc

Another idea would be a "contact us" button at bitcoinmax.com (next to the forum link?)  Smiley

the thing i'm a little afraid of there is that, at the moment only forum members can contact me.

if i open it up to non-forum members contacting me, i'll have to have all my scripts in place and as much automated as possible so that i can create accounts / do withdrawals with 1 click, etc.

i would still prefer a simple withdraw form (this does not mean it has to withdraw immediatly)
contact form would fit also - you could just sent the current login with it.

AUtomated deposit  and  withdrawl system would be a great feature to implement ,doing things by PM seems so stone-age ......
No thanks. That'll be prone to security leaks - look at what happened to Bitcoinica and MT.Gox last time.
4806  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [BitcoinMax.com] Paying 6.9% per week... Small accounts welcome. on: July 18, 2012, 07:50:29 PM

a way to send a message to payb.tc if the forum is down.

THIS PLEASE!

Yes, this is also the only thing I'm missing.
An email address should be sufficient as well the possibility to save the own email address in your account.

This +1.
4807  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions on: July 18, 2012, 06:59:44 PM
At first I didn't understand why I couldn't post some places but I fully understand now. I felt that this restriction is good in some way, I do not like you have to be online for over 4 hours since I have been tons of time online here on Bitcointalk as a guest and I know the forums and I don't think this will help against spammers and trollers.
It helps, a lot. You don't know the number of spammers we ban easily daily as they're all contained in this subforum.  Undecided
Welcome, guys.
4808  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: WTB 300.00 worth of btc with Paypal on: July 18, 2012, 06:55:47 PM
I had a moneypak with 300.00 on it. but put it on my paypal account in the midddle of a deal that took the buyer too long so I didn't take any chances and transferred the moneypak to my paypal.

Worried of chargebacks? I will GIVE you my paypal account username and password after the transaction after changing all the personal info on the paypal account of course.

Open to offers as well since the market fluctuates.

I will go first in this transaction only after I do research of the potential buyer and I feel that the buyer is up to par.
This does not help if the PayPal account is funded with a stolen CC. And I find it strange that you're willing to give up your paypal account to the buyer as each person is legally allowed to have only an account according to the TOS.

You can move it yourself to Lending/Securities subforum depending if you're using GLBSE for this. Lending subforum if you're not issuing shares.

Are you willing to identify yourself to your investors? How would we know that if we're actually in the 1% and not you making a run for the money? A 35% for 3 months with the risk of ( A) defaulting B) legally defaulting of 50% total capital  ) is too low and not on par with what others offer. See the Lending/Securities  subforum for the 'Standard Procedures' that others use.
4810  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Looking for investor of 8.5 BTC on: July 18, 2012, 06:23:08 PM
I have given it some thought and I would actually like to sweeten the deal by offering 0.1% of the shares in return for the 8.5 BTC.

In terms of verification for the GLBSE, perhaps we could use your (the investor's) details to ensure that we comply with the regulations of that particular platform.

Regards

SRON

LOL verify with our details and give 8.5 BTC in return for an amazing 0.1% of shares!  Shocked
And if you take everyone's money and run, your poor investor would be the one to be blamed by everyone who bought shares.
Win-win for you!

4812  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Class action Litigation vs. Bitcoinica Consultancy LTD & Intersango LTD on: July 18, 2012, 10:59:33 AM
Hi,

Sorry for the hiatus, but I had to take a break to preserve my mental sanity. Here's the update:

Quote
Update: here's the facts from my point of view:

- Patrick quit.
- Zhou quit.
- Tihan was fired, and no longer acting on behalf of Bitcoinica LP.
- Bitcoinica Consultancy were the new operators coming onboard, and the company was formed after the compromise to facilitate payments out.
- Bitcoinica LP is the owner.

The payments process is at a deadlock. Technically when a company is in debt, and cannot pay off its debtors in full, it hands the process to the government (called receivership). Bitcoinica LP would have to make a police report, and hand over the payments process as the owners.

That's it basically. Just a standstill.

Let me know if you have any suggestions.
Sane question before the trolls come in: Is Bitcoinica LP is heading for a receivership?

hey everybody, for your own best, don't rent a server at bitvps or rg / James , he use all the server to mine with, he use the server to DDo'S other pools, and he goes on his customer server and steal there stuff, like php source code, private passwords and stuff.. so.. keep away from that..

and yea, i have log thats says he his DDoS'ing other pools, and how do i know i goes on customers server, well because he did go on my server, steal all my pool source code, he steal all my private passwords, MySQL, RPG all of them, and now he have been a bit stupid, and set his pool up here http://pool.bitv.ps , ass you see thats my source that the owner of bitvps have been on my server and take

he even dont have edit from my stuff yet, guys, is it ok to go on a server and steal his software just because he own the company?
Wow, that's a massive accusation. Do you have anything to back up your claims?

Fedora 17 Linux installed successfully and everything I have tested has worked so far. Anyone planning to run Linux should not have anything to worry about. Using the msata ssd as a boot drive works great and just requires a few changes in the bios settings to configure as a boot device. 32GB is plenty of room to install Fedora Linux, but it would be a pretty tight fit for booting windows 7. All of my user data (/home) is stored on the 500GB 5400rpm disk.

I saw that at a sony storer today and I also saw the one i linked to,

this is the one i meant to linke...

the ASUS just looks awesome, its metal and its really crazy thin. The Sony is not that thin, its not much better than my old ASUS.

I will take a second look at it.  BTW this is not meant to be a desk top replacement. This is a computer that I need for on the go, airplanes, meetings coffee shops and the like. I wont be playing games, only BTC related work.

Thanks.
The sony is lighter though - 2.5 lb vs 2.86 lb. It's kind of hard having to find a light-n-thin that's >13 inch unless you count the Macbook Pro Retina display in. Other laptops with this form factor has a DVD drive and etc making it a desktop replacement and clunky.

clearly the mac is out, the asus and sony are the only two options then? hmm...
I have on my hands here a Acer Aspire S3 purchased a couple weeks ago as a lightweight go-arounder-cum-netbook. It's physically the same formfactor as the ASUS, but it's heavier (3.04238 pounds) and I hate the touchpad (it's almost a Macbook's counterfeit, but poorly done without using glass.) The Sony one uses it's own proprietary touchpad, and IMO miles better. Sadly I gave my old one to my sister..

I would suggest you to play around with the touchpads as that's one of the deciding factors for a thin laptop. Also, remember that Sony has TPM and fingerprint scanners installed that'll boost the security of the laptop tremendously.

I will send you 3 BTC if I buy the laptop you find me.

I will need to use BTC or Amazon.com.

Price range is $1,000 to $2,000 USD.

It needs to be...

highly portable (light).

long battery life.

high screen def (full HD would be great)

at least 4 GB of ram.

Needs to have at least a 2 year international warranty.

SSD might be a plus, SSD with a HDD as a back up might be a plus.

I like the brand ASUS.

This computer must be able to run Ubuntu.

Must have wifi.

Must be better than what I am looking at now   http://www.amazon.com/Zenbook-Prime-UX31A-DB51-13-3-Inch-Ultrabook/dp/tech-data/B00863L2PK/ref=de_a_smtd

I don't like the one linked cuz the screen is a bit too small.

Thank you.

I'm eyeing one now, with the exact requirements as you. Sony Vaio Z series, the newest Ivy Bridge version.

4820  Other / Off-topic / Re: Buy $1300 in bitcoin now or buy a BitForce Single ‘SC’  40 GH/s  -  in October? on: July 18, 2012, 07:02:16 AM
How many bitcoin would you expect to make a day with one of those? Mining in a pool.

You're not going to make anything form it if you don't have it. ;p

Both Dargo and John gave you accurate info.

to add to it all a bit; If you want to do a bit of math yourself there are many options to use to calculate either the earnings from having $1300 worth of BTC bought now, through to NOV+++ when you would at the earliest receive an SC if ordered now or the 'speculative' potential earnings of a unit then. My head is almost spinning thinking of all the differnt options now. ;p Let's examine a few basic ones.

1. Buy SC now, $1300/$8.56(current 24h avg) = 151.87 BTC  -  If BTC price moves up to $n above current you will lose whatever increase opportunity could be there.
example;  BTC 151.87 @ $8.56 now = $1300 By NOV+++ it could be  BTC @ 11.77 x 151.87 = $1787.51  Just by having an undelivered order you would lose $487.51 of your currencies value for this example.

2. Buy SC now, NOV+++ later you receive your unit. With the previous examples price increase your unit has now cost you $1787.51  That's still not a bad price for 40GHs, or is it? By the time you get an order that is placed now there will be the new network TH to compete with. A very conservative estimate would put the difficulty after just the first 500 orders to ~139M. Assuming average of One 40GH SC unit per order.
This is just the first 500 orders, of which at this point there are more like 1800 orders ahead of one placed now. The earnings of one SC unit under these conditions and not accounting for any already existing equipment hashing, just the newly added stuff can be seen here;
http://tpbitcalc.appspot.com/?difficulty=139689980.3050&hashrate=40000&exchangerate=8.61&bitcoinsperblock=50.00&rigcost=1800.00&powerconsumption=12.00&powercost=0.12&investmentperiod=355

And that is before the block reward going from 50 to 25... Cut your weekly earnings in half after that point.

3. Buy your 151.87 BTC now, split it among 3 or 4 of the more conservative GLBSE stocks. At ~1.05% per week, compounding; at the end of just 19 weeks (end of NOV), you will have a total BTC value of BTC 185.38 @ current market would = $1586.85. At our previous example's rate of 11.77 the BTC 185.38 would be worth $2181.92 For a gain of  $881.92

These are all just examples!  The point is to just do the math. Like any other investment, do the math and then calculate the risks of any result you come up with. I.E., buying BTC to hold, price could crash. Buying SC, delivery could not happen until Q2+ 2013. Or the opposites of each.

If none of that makes sense in the way that I am explaining it, I will not be offended if you say so and will happily clarify any points I failed to get across.

Cheers
You laid everything out perfectly! Grin
