Dat dump doe

wowza.... looks like around 40k XMR just got dumped.  Shocked

I don't doubt that is big money defining a line here.

Also should remember when we become most profitable coin to mine that is going to attract a special kind of temporary whale.

LOL @ all the panic sellers on Polo...  Grin

I bought a little at 188.  Does this mean I am falling for the whale dumpers master plan?

No idea man really, this polo chart today is something else. I'm just hodling away as always. Cheesy

Tonight should get really interesting, either way!  Cool

I know.  I don't typically play swings, but when we're swinging so hard I can't resist. The hardest part is getting a dercent trade to go through while polo is so jammed up.

I predicted at the beginning of the last pump, that it smells like a pump and it was a pump.
Same here now, just the price of XMR x5 from the last pump, and it gains much faster which isn't healthy.
Lets talk next week on the price topic of XMR  Shocked Grin

Something like Donald Trump bribe Mexican president in XMR so Mexican government decide to pay for the wall?

The funny thing is the second quote is more likely than the first.

Pumper whales are setting fire to tens of millions of dollars to trick us into buying their coins back from them when they drop in price?  Or some mega rich person is quietly taking a stake in monero on the weekends.

I don't actually believe either but the second is far more plausible.

I think the next leg, which is coming imho, should be fairly exciting. 😗

Any idea what the current blockchain size is? My macbook only had 11.5 GB space left, it's now at 6GB  Embarrassed

9,36 GB
Thanks, just a few Gigs left than Wink

Buy one of these for about 30 USD and use --data-dir

http://www.samsung.com/us/computing/memory-storage/usb-flash-drives/usb-3-0-flash-drive-fit-128gb-muf-128bb-muf-128bb-am/

I wonder if it would work to install a linux os on that thumb drive, sync up and run a node.

It would work fine.
4807  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 02, 2016, 02:06:17 PM

I expect to see XMR back at a reasonable price within the next week or two, 0.05 - 0.07 is reasonable

I'll take that price thank you --- prob the most sensible thing you've posted, well, ever.

I've been dealing with serious coins like ethereum lately, keep forgetting to put enough zeroes when dealing with shitcoins

Still waiting for those ring signatures that were coming on ethereum in a few months?

It's one of the least interesting Ethereum projects so no rush really. It'll be done when its done.

I agree.  I think the sorts of features that allow people to siphon off millions of of coins causing the need for hard forks and legitimizing a forked project are far far more interesting.

breaking out?  Shocked

Too soon to say
4809  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 31, 2016, 02:13:23 AM
I think the reason for planned XMR.to integration first is pretty obvious. That is a community project and Monero focused. Shapeshift, though we are all grateful that it supports Monero is far more multi coin focused. There's nothing wrong with that and I would be very surprised if I shape-shift plugin doesn't come along pretty quick. I also assume that the plugin architecture will be open source. So whoever wants to can make a shapeshift plugin.

Looks like I might risk cutting my paw on the knife again tonight.

catching a falling knife > buying with the herd at the top

Well we are breaking the bottom of a wedge it looks like to me.

Just have to wait somewhere between 3 minutes and 6 hours. Wink

Consider suing Bloomberg News for tortious libel, causing grevious loss of substance.  A class action suit, anyone?

The article is actually quite even handed and positive in many regards.

The headline on the other hand... ...

Sold all my XMR @ .0121 avg, 572btc worth. Will buy it all back at .005 Smiley

Good luck, not gonna happen. Doubt we will see 0121 again even

We'll see. When people say things like it'll never go below X that's exactly when it tends to happen.

Going down to .005 seems too drastic at this point but I wouldn't rule out a retracement to 0.008-0.009

I am 99% sure you never get it back at .005 ever. I am going to call it early and say you made one of the worst decisions of your life selling quite early. Nor do I ever see Monero (XMR) going back to previous levels. I see a general gradual upward trend that is only continuing.

Don't worry he will be back to tell us that he sold all his monero the next time he thinks were at a top.  He completely full of shit.

If you research my posts and you were informed, I predicted Ethereum would go from $1 to $10-$20. Here I am sitting on millions of dollars of various currency of monies while you are talking about something you have no idea about and putting words in my mouth. Get your shit straight. I'll listen to my own intuition and logic while I ignored your completely stupid one. Wink

My post had nothing to do with you it was aimed at our beloved primer- as that was who you were talking about.

I generally regret paying any attention to primer...  Seems it is even so by proxy, lol.

Bought some at  137.  Let's see how bad my hands will bleed. 😁

I managed to sell some that I had on margin for 186 and buy some back again for 133 and 142!  Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good I guess!

Currently not sure I was lucky. I put the bids in today but did not expect to fill them so violently.  Anyone have a bandaid?

What exchange can I short xmr on?

Poloniex. And thanks for the liquidity.  Short a bunch IMHO.

Release the kraken Cool

Kraken? Like the exchange? If they add this to their coin offerings that would make XMR look more legitimate. Maybe a better exchange for this is BTCe. They do not collect documents and it would be best to use them or Shapeshift if you want to keep your anonymity online.

I think btce is a perfect match for monero.  If we can just keep a decent fraction of current volume I think most exchanges will be working on integration.  It is a bit of a challenge.
4818  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 29, 2016, 01:28:04 AM

I imagine it must be difficult for newer 'crypto-nites' to understand that there was a time this environment wasn't about 'pump and dump'.  When there was just BTC (and then LTC) growth was always seen as natural with adoption curves that were either steep or shallow.

With the proliferation of alts in 2012/13 there was an increase in PnD merchants (remember Fontas) and from there crypto has become the perfect investment environment for a generation with the attention span of a gnat.  If an investment rises sharply it has to have been 'pumped' and any growth that is sustained is unnatural and must be 'dumped' within hours or days.

I have always hated that terminology when I see it being used in the generic sense of a price rise whether or not manipulation is the motive force. But it is the same folks with the gnat sized attention span that seem to want to call it this. Also the idea this rise is some sort of market manipulation is dumbtastic. It's hilarious really.

These idiots like to think that there are some nefarious whales in the background pumping up the price. But they never stop to think how much it would cost to cause a price rise on this level with this magnitude of volume just by market manipulation.  For what reason?  To what gain. But I suppose those of us who do understand basic math may stand to profit from these idiots.

Now, to revive an old phrase from the 90s. There is such a thing as irrational exuberance. I am being very careful to try to recognize when it becomes a serious factor in the price... but it is so hard to do in the moment.

I wanted to come and congratulate you folks on passing us in the Coinmarketcap rankings. I hope you all enjoy your profits, and I relish Dash's new position as underdogs trying to overtake yet another currency standing between us and the top. I always enjoyed a challenge!

Cheers and respect,

Tao.

Cheers to you as well.
