4801  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: July 26, 2017, 08:08:43 AM
How many posts can a newbie post daily?

There are no restrictions on how many you can post, but there are time restrictions which prohibit spamming. I would concentrate on the quality of your posts as opposed to the quantity because you can certainly be banned for making poor quality posts. You also cannot spam your way through the ranks due to activity levels so please read about them here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0
4802  Other / Meta / Re: Should ICOs without blockchains be removed from Alternate Cryptocurrencies forum on: July 26, 2017, 08:04:21 AM
I don't it would be possible to remove ICO's from this forum at all. Bitcointalk is financially supported by ICO's - now we can see ICO advertisements in forum ad spaces. Why they would need to cut off branch on which they are sitting now.
I would agree if ICO's would have their sub-forum, to separate it from usual coins. Because now on Altcoin announcement board we see almost only ICO's.

Yes it would. We can easily disallow them and trash their threads. And how is the forum financially supported by icos? They pay absolutely nothing to the forum to post or promote themselves here unless they purchase advertising space and most do not. Most just pre mine a load of worthless tokens and dish them out to anybody who can be bothered to sign up and post the most basic of crap or copy and paste somebody else's responses. The level of spam and issues they contribute to the workload of staff is insane and they should be held responsible for that. If they're not just banned outright they should all have to pay something to advertise here because they shouldn't be allowed to advertise for free (which is crazy in itself) and it certainly shouldn't be at the expense of the forum when they do next to nothing about poor posters.

Relevant.

Sec rules that token sales / non blockchain ICOs are securities

https://www.reddit.com/r/Buttcoin/comments/6pj46w/sec_issues_investigative_report_concluding_dao/

I really hope they legally get shut down if this forum doesn't do something to stop or restrict them because the people who run them are some of the greediest and laziest people I've come across.
4803  Other / Meta / Re: mods don't do anything, report function pointless. on: July 26, 2017, 07:54:19 AM
When i report it says  "You have reported 10 posts with 100% accuracy"

So, how many times more i have to report to ban this two individuals (they are probably the same guy).

As mentioned above FUD isn't explicitly moderated, though if they're being a continual nuisance or trolling then that can be acted upon so contact mprep directly if you would like more action taken and he can weigh it up if further action is warranted.
4804  Other / Meta / Re: Paying to keep Thread on Top / Pay per Post on Bitcointalk on: July 26, 2017, 07:50:30 AM
That is very much not allowed. The threads are trashed, the poster is banned for 60 days, everyone who participated is banned for 3 days, and everyone who participated cannot display a signature for 30 days.

Can we extend this to alt coin campaigns paying out in anything other than bitcoin? As has been mentioned before a lot of them are not even cryptocoins just tokens and 99% of them do absolutely nothing about spam and all follow the same formula: pre mine a load of worthless crap then give half of it out to anyone who bothers to sign up with their 5,10, 50, 100, 200 alt accounts. The fact that numerous people have been caught getting paid out on 50-200 accounts tells you all you need to know about the lack of management on these campaigns and they're causing probably 98% of the spam right now. I would propose that if you're not paying out in bitcoin then you can't advertise via signatures here and any one that does so should have their threads trashed and accounts banned. The users that continue to advertise them should also have their signatures removed for x amount of time.
4805  Other / Meta / Re: AXED by Mod on: July 26, 2017, 07:43:02 AM
I think we should extend this rule to all alt coin campaigns as well and ban any that don't pay out in bitcoin. Paying people to post whatever crap they like without any checks is far worse and it effects the whole forum not just the shitcoin section.

but bounties are not giveaways.
bounties are kind of short term/micro jobs . we offer some rewards to users to perform specific tasks/jobs for us.. I don't think it should be called a giveaway.  nothing is being given away for free.

Posting in a thread is hardly a bounty. It's not only breaking the alt coin giveaway rule but they're also evading the one bump per 24 hours rule.
4806  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting | Current pot: £380 - £20 buy-in on: July 26, 2017, 07:38:06 AM
So when are we supposed to send the 20 bucks?  The season starts on August 12.  So maybe we start sending the BTC starting a week before that?  Very excited.  Smiley

I'll probably start taking in money no later than the 7th. Would have done it on the 1st but there many be some issues with the upgrade.

I do be very happy to join  this game, at least am sure it wi be done fairly and it will soon start just about 2-3 weeks from now. I think the prize pool should be increased to about 400-500 .

I have no control over the total pot as it depends on how many players sign up, but if you're in that'll take it up to £400.
4807  Other / Meta / Re: bitcoin talk account security on: July 24, 2017, 11:50:03 AM
What I prefer is keep changing your password every 1 or 2 months because I have seen some cases of my friends who used the same password on other websites and their DB got leaked then their passwords were open source and they didn't even know about it till I made a search on his email on google.

The answer to that is simple: don't re-use passwords. I find people are more likely to lose access to their accounts if they change passwords frequently as people tend to forget them and are screwed if they lose access to their computer. Have a fairly strong password, don't re-use it, and make sure you have it safely written down some where and you should be good.
4808  Other / Meta / Re: Can I post new topics? New acc limits on: July 24, 2017, 06:57:24 AM
There aren't really any limits on what you can post as long as it's substantial,  but there are time restrictions on new accounts which get relaxed as you move up ranks. You should probably read the rules as well because there are certain things that are restricted like begging and posting ref links etc: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0

4811  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: The lagest Bitcoin mixer is about to stop working on: July 23, 2017, 09:35:49 PM
Bitcoin has no future with drug/weapon traffic or any other illegal activity. This is my point.

If you truly  believe in bitcoin as a currency then it should be used to buy anything and everything good or bad. If people want to buy drugs or whatever then they should be allowed and Bitcoin gives you the freedom to make these choices without a middleman or a government restricting or prohibiting you from doing do, which is the true beauty of it in my opinion.

I could sell the business for our competitors for $5-6M, but I will not do this. It is important that you understand my position.

Why don't you sell it and donate the money to charity or do some other good with it? Seems a waste just to shut a profitable business you built up down.

You need to search the individual boards or use google search instead.
4813  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting | Current pot: £360 - £20 buy-in on: July 23, 2017, 04:31:24 PM
i'm in , £20 weekly is a fair deal to all of us, but i have a question if i joined the first week do i need to join  the whole season?

It's £20 for the entire season and you just make your predictions weekly. Can I put you down in the op?
£20 for the entire season it's small amount and i don't think is good option cuz you will wait a very long season to win a few bucks.  i can go with £200 For the whole season. and i think if you split the prize between the first three participants like 50 ℅ for the 1st 30℅ for 2nd 20℅ for 3rd it will be good.

It's a small amount but it shouldn't be much to lose either (or wait to lose) and you're winning more than a few bucks as the pot will nearly be at £400 if you're in. £20 is pretty good value for an entire season of entertainment and it'll be fun watching the leaderboard. I'd be willing to put more in but not everyone else would so we might end up losing people if we up the stakes.
4814  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Withdrawing from Coinbase to UK bank account? on: July 23, 2017, 04:19:32 PM
Still nothing yet. Cost me nearly £10 in bank fees to send the sepa transfer so I hope it works because I'm not going to send another one in the off chance that it will work that time.

Does anyone know if Coinbase have an official thread or account on here? Contacted support but think I'll be waiting a while.

I think most of the card providers have had some negative feedback at some point, it's not an ideal solution but until we can do a straight GBP withdraw we'll just have to manage.  Good luck.

I'll give them both a go and weigh up how much the fees are for each (assuming I can actually get Coinbase sorted). Would prefer direct bank transfer though.

4816  Other / Meta / Re: bump/24 hours on: July 23, 2017, 03:46:11 PM
Isn't this violation of forum rules 1 bump/24 hours?

They were all banned permanently except one which was temp. I think we should actually state it's against the rules to incentivize to post in a specific thread because it's just a way to spam bump the thread constantly to the top. Pretty sure there's a rule posted by theymos somewhere prohibiting it but can't find it.
4817  Other / Meta / Re: Marketplace trust on: July 23, 2017, 03:41:28 PM
Insulting someone publicly is illegal in every country,
lol, what? That is not illegal in most of the world.
It explains your trust rate...  Roll Eyes LOL

QS is right though. It's not illegal to insult someone in most places (and in those countries that it may be it really shouldn't). I'll just leave you with one of my favourite quotes on being offended:

4818  Other / Meta / Re: Marketplace trust on: July 23, 2017, 01:02:31 PM
Hello
Who is moderating trust feedbacks please?
A brand new user (only 1 post) wrote insults on my trust page and on the trust page of 2 other people (okinawa and xavier59)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=1071670

What could we do?

I think it would be a good idea to not allow Brand new and newbie users to send feedbacks.

Ignore it or ask him to remove it. Trust isn't moderated and feedbacks are really removed but if it's from a newbie and is unbacked without a source then most will just ignore it.
4819  Other / Meta / Re: bitcoin talk account security on: July 23, 2017, 01:00:57 PM
Post a (preferably) signed address here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=996318.5520

And don't get hacked. Use a strong password and don't log onto any phishing sites.
4820  Economy / Services / Re: [ANN] Equinoxx's Escrow Service (Covering Low Transactions) on: July 21, 2017, 02:20:02 PM
Don't be silly. Far too many people are offering escrow services here when they have no good reason to be. If you haven't a long history of trades and people already haven't been asking you to escrow for them then you're not needed or qualified to be an escrow. Escrows are meant to be extremely reputable people who you can trust. You are neither.

This is just the negative side of the community. Honest people even don't get a chance to prove themselves.
In your first message, you have ('almost') labeled me as a scammer who will run away when he gains enough trust to hold bigger amounts.
This is just bullish, give people a chance to prove themselves. I'm not giving up because some respectful BTT members are cracking me down.
I'm here to learn in the first place and to earn some extra bucks in my spare time. I'm a very active freelancer with a 'close-to-nomadic' lifestyle. I prefer working at night, and Escrow offers me the freedom to work when I want. Yes, this is work for me.

Regards
EQ.

The negative side of the community is that it's rife with scammers doing anything they can to get a hold of others money any way they can. There have been half a dozen people over the last year alone who tried to offer such escrow services and quickly turned out to be scammers (though thankfully nobody was stupid enough to send them their money).

Now you'er giving me the label of a scammer. That's not how it works. Your mentality is just bullish.
Correct me when wrong, but the rank and trust doesn't say anything. You can' trust anybody here.
Even a top member can run away with a nice amount of money and never come back. Don't tell me it didn't happen.

So, give me the chance to build rep. Not many escrow'ers are willing to help with smaller amounts of $30 - 100.
If there are, please provide me some names. The lowest in the escrow thread is 0.01 BTC and almost all of them have stopped.

Yes, anyone can run off with money hence why you need to be a reputable and trustworthy member of the community to make that less likely to happen, not some naive newbie who just wants to make a quick buck. At best you're stupidly naive, at worst you're a straight up scammer who only has one intention. Honest people prove themselves over time. You don't just walk up to some random strangers and ask them to look after their money/child/car do you? And I would say there's more chance of you being a scammer than not. How do we know how to trust you? How do we know you're competent enough to provide a reliable service? We don't. If your name doesn't mean anything here then there's no good reason to trust you and you shouldn't be offering escrow services because the only thing you have to lose is the price you paid for the account.
