4801  Other / Meta / Re: Can I post new topics? New acc limits on: July 24, 2017, 06:57:24 AM
There aren't really any limits on what you can post as long as it's substantial,  but there are time restrictions on new accounts which get relaxed as you move up ranks. You should probably read the rules as well because there are certain things that are restricted like begging and posting ref links etc: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0

Bitcoin has no future with drug/weapon traffic or any other illegal activity. This is my point.

If you truly  believe in bitcoin as a currency then it should be used to buy anything and everything good or bad. If people want to buy drugs or whatever then they should be allowed and Bitcoin gives you the freedom to make these choices without a middleman or a government restricting or prohibiting you from doing do, which is the true beauty of it in my opinion.

I could sell the business for our competitors for $5-6M, but I will not do this. It is important that you understand my position.

Why don't you sell it and donate the money to charity or do some other good with it? Seems a waste just to shut a profitable business you built up down.

You need to search the individual boards or use google search instead.
4806  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting | Current pot: £360 - £20 buy-in on: July 23, 2017, 04:31:24 PM
i'm in , £20 weekly is a fair deal to all of us, but i have a question if i joined the first week do i need to join  the whole season?

It's £20 for the entire season and you just make your predictions weekly. Can I put you down in the op?
£20 for the entire season it's small amount and i don't think is good option cuz you will wait a very long season to win a few bucks.  i can go with £200 For the whole season. and i think if you split the prize between the first three participants like 50 ℅ for the 1st 30℅ for 2nd 20℅ for 3rd it will be good.

It's a small amount but it shouldn't be much to lose either (or wait to lose) and you're winning more than a few bucks as the pot will nearly be at £400 if you're in. £20 is pretty good value for an entire season of entertainment and it'll be fun watching the leaderboard. I'd be willing to put more in but not everyone else would so we might end up losing people if we up the stakes.
4807  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Withdrawing from Coinbase to UK bank account? on: July 23, 2017, 04:19:32 PM
Still nothing yet. Cost me nearly £10 in bank fees to send the sepa transfer so I hope it works because I'm not going to send another one in the off chance that it will work that time.

Does anyone know if Coinbase have an official thread or account on here? Contacted support but think I'll be waiting a while.

I think most of the card providers have had some negative feedback at some point, it's not an ideal solution but until we can do a straight GBP withdraw we'll just have to manage.  Good luck.

I'll give them both a go and weigh up how much the fees are for each (assuming I can actually get Coinbase sorted). Would prefer direct bank transfer though.

Isn't this violation of forum rules 1 bump/24 hours?

They were all banned permanently except one which was temp. I think we should actually state it's against the rules to incentivize to post in a specific thread because it's just a way to spam bump the thread constantly to the top. Pretty sure there's a rule posted by theymos somewhere prohibiting it but can't find it.
4810  Other / Meta / Re: Marketplace trust on: July 23, 2017, 03:41:28 PM
Insulting someone publicly is illegal in every country,
lol, what? That is not illegal in most of the world.
It explains your trust rate...  Roll Eyes LOL

QS is right though. It's not illegal to insult someone in most places (and in those countries that it may be it really shouldn't). I'll just leave you with one of my favourite quotes on being offended:

4811  Other / Meta / Re: Marketplace trust on: July 23, 2017, 01:02:31 PM
Hello
Who is moderating trust feedbacks please?
A brand new user (only 1 post) wrote insults on my trust page and on the trust page of 2 other people (okinawa and xavier59)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=1071670

What could we do?

I think it would be a good idea to not allow Brand new and newbie users to send feedbacks.

Ignore it or ask him to remove it. Trust isn't moderated and feedbacks are really removed but if it's from a newbie and is unbacked without a source then most will just ignore it.

Post a (preferably) signed address here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=996318.5520

And don't get hacked. Use a strong password and don't log onto any phishing sites.
4813  Economy / Services / Re: [ANN] Equinoxx's Escrow Service (Covering Low Transactions) on: July 21, 2017, 02:20:02 PM
Don't be silly. Far too many people are offering escrow services here when they have no good reason to be. If you haven't a long history of trades and people already haven't been asking you to escrow for them then you're not needed or qualified to be an escrow. Escrows are meant to be extremely reputable people who you can trust. You are neither.

This is just the negative side of the community. Honest people even don't get a chance to prove themselves.
In your first message, you have ('almost') labeled me as a scammer who will run away when he gains enough trust to hold bigger amounts.
This is just bullish, give people a chance to prove themselves. I'm not giving up because some respectful BTT members are cracking me down.
I'm here to learn in the first place and to earn some extra bucks in my spare time. I'm a very active freelancer with a 'close-to-nomadic' lifestyle. I prefer working at night, and Escrow offers me the freedom to work when I want. Yes, this is work for me.

Regards
EQ.

The negative side of the community is that it's rife with scammers doing anything they can to get a hold of others money any way they can. There have been half a dozen people over the last year alone who tried to offer such escrow services and quickly turned out to be scammers (though thankfully nobody was stupid enough to send them their money).

Now you'er giving me the label of a scammer. That's not how it works. Your mentality is just bullish.
Correct me when wrong, but the rank and trust doesn't say anything. You can' trust anybody here.
Even a top member can run away with a nice amount of money and never come back. Don't tell me it didn't happen.

So, give me the chance to build rep. Not many escrow'ers are willing to help with smaller amounts of $30 - 100.
If there are, please provide me some names. The lowest in the escrow thread is 0.01 BTC and almost all of them have stopped.

Yes, anyone can run off with money hence why you need to be a reputable and trustworthy member of the community to make that less likely to happen, not some naive newbie who just wants to make a quick buck. At best you're stupidly naive, at worst you're a straight up scammer who only has one intention. Honest people prove themselves over time. You don't just walk up to some random strangers and ask them to look after their money/child/car do you? And I would say there's more chance of you being a scammer than not. How do we know how to trust you? How do we know you're competent enough to provide a reliable service? We don't. If your name doesn't mean anything here then there's no good reason to trust you and you shouldn't be offering escrow services because the only thing you have to lose is the price you paid for the account.
4814  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The "I cannot afford 1 BTC"-Problem on: July 21, 2017, 01:24:27 PM
I would just explain the benefits and potential of bitcoin to them and tell them that you don't even need to own a whole bitcoin. People just need to get over their own psychological barriers cos maybe someday they will be kicking themselves for not buying in when bitcoin was at 2k and then asking is 0.1btc unaffordable now. If people can truly see the potential of bitcoin then then value of bitcoin today could be peanuts in comparison to the future price but that's something people are going to have to make their own mind up about but you're never going to get anywhere in business or finance if you don't take the risk on some investments at least. You've just got to decide whether bitcoin is going to be one of them.
4815  Economy / Services / Re: [ANN] Equinoxx's Escrow Service (Covering Low Transactions) on: July 21, 2017, 12:54:08 PM
Let's assume I haven't done a lot of trades and nor am I going to do. How can I build reputation?
Once a month I'm buying something which I need. So the only way to start gaining reputation (*read trades*) is by doing Escrow.
I can link my other jnr. account if required if that makes it more honest.

That is not how you build trust to do escrow. How does anyone else build reputation? You earn it over time by doing trades and being an active member of the community. Linking a Junior member account is still useless because it's a three week old account with no history. Not sure why you're so eager to start an escrow service either. If you're looking to earn money then there are much easier and less time consuming ways to do so. If you want to help out the community then do that by helping stop scammers etc but offering to do escrow when you're in no way qualified isn't the way to go about it.
4816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dark market double bubble on: July 21, 2017, 10:21:51 AM
It'll disrupt the marketplace in as much as the users will just flock to another one as what happened when alpha bay went down people just emigrated over to Dream and Hansa. When you take a marketplace down at least one more will pop up to replace it and they know this but continue with the charade any way. The only way they'll ever win this war is by legalising or decriminalise drugs or these sorts of marketplaces but can't see that ever happening.

It looks like the Dutch police got on Reddit and elsewhere and actively encouraged Alphabay lost souls to join Hansa so they could be nailed. Perhaps they've fatally holed trust in the concept until something P2P comes along.

Do you have any evidence of that or is it just speculation from conspiracy theorists because that would almost certainly be entrapment.
4817  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Are my bitcoin safe in Electrum Bitcoin Wallet? on: July 21, 2017, 09:19:43 AM
May I use my blockchain.info BTC address in Electrum. If yes then any body can guide me.

Yes, you can either import the addresses or just send coins from blockchain.info to your new electrum wallet.

And suppose I transfer my BTC in Electrum and Electrum gets close then how can I recover my BTC while Electrum is down. Please guide me.

Electrum won't get closed down, but if you write your wallet seed down or have a back up of your wallet.dat file or private keys then you can restore your coins at any time with another wallet.

https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/53822/how-to-recover-an-electrum-wallet-from-seed

Please do a bit of research on wallets and seeds etc so you know what you're doing any don't make any mistakes.
4818  Other / Meta / Re: It's been more than 30 days, why is my account perma-banned? on: July 21, 2017, 08:49:21 AM
It's idiotic that plagiarism gets a permaban but blatant scams are allowed...but that's the way it is.  Complaining about it isn't going to help your case.

Copying and pasting is pretty cut and dry whereas scamming isn't always or will require a lot of time and effort from staff to investigate, hence why it's largely left up to the community police. Personally, I wouldn't be against removing blatantly obvious scams or ones that are very likely scams but I can see how that policy would open up a huge can of worms and people complaining why we removed X but not Y etc.
People complain about being banned for copy pasting, and staff seems to be able to handle that just fine.  This forum could very easily ban scammers and otherwise not tolerate scams.  Most other forums have things in place, and it's not rocket science.

As above, they can complain but they won't have any grounds to stand on as copying and pasting is cut and dry whereas scamming or potentially scamming isn't always. What scams do we remove and how do we verify they are actually scams? People with too good to be true offers or after a verified scam accusation? There's already too much work to be done regarding spammers and if staff were to start investigating scams then it would just become even more unmanageable and hence why the community usually policies itself on such matters.
4819  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: July 21, 2017, 08:15:48 AM
Hello everyone. I want to ask what can influence  my post being deleted?

Read the rules here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0

Posts can be reported and deleted for a whole number of reasons, but it being low quality/spam, off topic, copy and pasted, or repeating/asking the same thing as someone else are prime reasons.

Did you ever send anyone an address through private messages? What about receiving payment for translation bounties etc?
