4801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are bitcoins more secure then Swiss bank? on: April 02, 2017, 08:58:24 PM
Apples and Oranges type of comparison really...

Bitcoin is an investment that has high potential but is volatile.

The swiss bank is a more established, accepted system of fiat currency.

Bitcoin is technically that, but it is not treated that way at the current time.

Both are good for their purposes. I'd have some investment in both to be honest.  Cool
It's a bit more than that. I doubt OP is interested in the volatility and looking at Bitcoin as an investment. The question is strictly about security and this is much better with Bitcoin. A bank is still managed by a third person and you never know what that person might do. There might be a bombing in Switzerland that disrupts the network or power in the area and you won';t be able to use your money for a time. With Bitcoin it's all in your hands.
4802  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why gun is easily available in US? on: April 02, 2017, 08:46:34 PM
I wish it was as easy in Europe. Americans are strange. They have so many rights and freedoms, but they never stop complaining that they need more. They can carry guns in the street and have like 100 guns per 100 citizens. In Europe when you have 50/100 it's actually great and the country must have really modern laws for that to be possible. Most Europeans never shot a gun in their lives and have no clue how to use one and protect themselves. Believe it or not but some EU countries have less than 10 guns per 100 citizens!
4803  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: In 2017, Is a $400 ASIC miner still profitable? on: April 02, 2017, 08:24:07 PM
I used to mine a bit, testing different USB miners and my own computer (CPU mining) and got bored with maintaining it all for just cents. Mining is for two kinds of people. One is hardware geeks, that treat it as a hobby and like maintaining it and tinkering, even if they're earning very little. The other one is professionals, able to rent a airplane hangar and fill it with machines worth hundreds of thousands USD. If you're none of them and want to earn, forget about mining and buy Bitcoin.
4804  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So we tried out Lightning tonight at ROOM77 on: April 02, 2017, 08:17:26 PM
This is great news. The only issue I had with Bitcoin was the problem with confirmation times. Two years ago when this first came up the most common response was "don't wait for full confirmation, we have software that acknowledges payments after 1 confirmation." Years later even that single confirmation needed hours to come through. With this resolved nothing stands in the way of our Bitcoin becoming the fastest and most secure payment system on the planet.
4805  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Fires of high voltage batteris in HEV and EVs. on: March 28, 2017, 10:22:15 PM
They sure used a lot of fire extinguishers for that Tesla Cheesy That thing was burning like a meth lab!
Phones are also blowing up and catching fire. Lithium cells are delicate and can explode in your pocket. This guy's e-cig turned him into a torch. http://edition.cnn.com/2016/02/25/health/e-cigarette-explodes-in-mans-pocket/
I read that many of the Tesla fires were caused by people running over curbs. One guy received a warning from the car's OS, ignored it and kept driving. A couple minutes later the car was on fire.
4806  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Could cryptocurrency holders be attacked by IRS? on: March 28, 2017, 10:01:37 PM
I agree with hilariousandco here. There are only 2 ways to tax you. The first one is to tax your fiat coming from an exchange to your bank account. This is actually what you legally should add to your tax declaration.
The second one is to tax your purchases. For instance if you decided to buy a house you will have to declare it and pay due tax.
I see one way they could trace your coins that is by taking your personal data from an exchange via a subpoena and linking your exchange address to your wallet. This data might be inconclusive and I doubt it could be used in court, because an address that sends money to your exchange account doesn't have to be owned by you. It can be your employer or your friend, or your pimp Cheesy
Not only they can't beyond any doubt prove which addresses you own, they can't also seize these addresses, unless you give them the keys.
4807  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Elon Musk on: March 28, 2017, 09:45:14 PM
Cyborgs? This has been fought of over 30 years ago.
The idea of implanting people with mechanical organs to enhance their physical capabilities is great. Implanting the brain to allow it to connect with a computer is not.
Such link works both ways and can allow people to hack into our brains, maybe even take control over our bodies, delete our memories, even kill us. Any electronic equipment can act like an antenna, receive electromagnetic waves. This may allow people to literary electrocute those with implants by overloading their chips.
4808  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It is not worth it, right? on: March 28, 2017, 09:39:47 PM
Many people here are asking "How gambling can benefits us by winning" on it using strategy like Martingale, or pure luck when we are playing DICE?
But I'm just wondering when do people will realize that gambling can never be the one that could benefits us, because the truth is, we could lose the thing that we can't lose to afford before we could be benefited by gambling.
1. You lost part of the first sentence somewhere.
2. You're promoting a dice site in your signature. If you don't like gambling and think it's not worth it, maybe it would be a good idea to stop indirectly luring other people to it?
3. There are several similar topics in this section.
4809  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does experience matter in gambling? on: March 28, 2017, 09:29:29 PM
When it comes to lottery, number games, and sports betting no experience is needed ( some people are analyzing team statistics and intuition ). This said sports only involbe probability statistics mathematics and pure luck. No matter how long you are betting your team in NBA, if the players cant win the game they cant win the game and you wont win the bet. No matter how long you are buying lottery tickets, if you are not the lucky person who will win, you wont win.

In card games of course it involves experience, yes it involves luck but there are people that through experience they developed thier analysation skills, intuition and guts. A experienced gambler knows and feel when to stop and when to have a bet.

Gambling is hard tho' thats why it is a gamble you either win or loss. But experience is important because a long the way you will learn how to bear defeat and know when to stop.

Mostly I agree with you, but certainly not about sports betting. Just like playing poker, we need an experience that we get with time - the longer someone plays, the better should be. With sports betting is needed not only experience but also high knowledge about players and league situation, even politic decions inside clubs. For me sports betting need the highest skills to be profitable.

In my own opinion i think experienced is great advantage for us to win on gambling since it can help us to familiarize the flaws, stats,on what to avoid, which team is strong and everything. And that could make us earn more advantage rather than betting on unfamiliar thing on unfamiliar times. Remember newbies or unexperienced people are most likely the losers on gambling since they doesn't know on how to act right when betting time is on.

Experience does not benefit sportsbetting but rather all gambling games.  Like for example, an experience player will know how to adjust his bet whenever he is trapped in a tight situation.  He also know when to have a timely exit when he is winning to book a profit.  He can also use his experience to minimize his loses.  All in all, experience does not help us in winning but in making us realized to stop when situation is not in favor of us.
No, not really. What does experience have to do with you winning at slots? You really need enormous experience to do it! Cheesy
Another great example is dice, surely a player who spent a year playing online dice has much greater chance to win than a newcomer. LOL
4810  Economy / Economics / Re: SHOCKER: SEC denies SolidX Bitocin ETF Proposal on: March 28, 2017, 08:46:19 PM
Well it is not a surprise.  Actually it is also what I expected for the reason coolcoinz said.

They denied the ETF because it had no insurance for their clients. SolidX hasn't done anything to fix this so they got denied as well.
Not much of a shocker, really. This is not a final ruling, they can appeal or adjust and file again.

Unless Bitcoin create a central authority, I do not think this ETF will ever be approved.  But creating such will just go against the reason why Bitcoin is created anyway.  So I guess Bitcoin can go on without this ETF.  Why does Bitcoin need it anyway?  Anyone know the reason?
I think that's what BU tried to achieve with their council, but I guess they'd quickly change their minds if someone lost money trading and decided to sue them Roger and friends.  Grin
ETF has a chance if Bitcoin becomes more stable. Maybe in a couple years there will be less red tape and knuckleheads at SEC, we'll see.

Bitcoin used to go without ETF for 7 years, there's no reason it wouldn't continue.

Here's the definition for you: http://www.investopedia.com/terms/h/hard-fork.asp
What will happen next week like in 7 days? Nothing. Do you think we're going to have a fork next week? Grin
It's a normal update. It can be good if it brings vital upgrades and no bugs, otherwise it's bad.
4813  Economy / Economics / Re: Is USD being used for illegal activities? on: March 28, 2017, 07:48:44 PM
In fact, the US government can always track the illegal movement of dollars. I think that they do so. Gather dirt on the corrupt politicians and get them their desired solutions. To catch corrupt Americans is not profitable. First, it could undermine confidence in the dollar, the corrupt, and it is a very large amount, and secondly the money stolen in other countries and working for the us economy.
Oh yea, especially when they're paying in cash. People are using shell companies, laundering money through casino tokens. There are many ways to do it you can even pay a poor, homeless guy to make a bank account and give you the card, so that you can use an ATM to withdraw cash and disappear.
USD is being used for illegal stuff as we speak.
4814  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How do you think about the housing price in China? on: March 28, 2017, 07:29:52 PM
The hosing price in first-tier cities like ShenZhen, BeiJing, ShangHai have risen to a unfordable high position for average Chinese people, for the average Chinese graduate, they earn 12,000 USD(2016) annually while in ShenZhen it costs almost 1 million to buy a average 100M^2 house(30% down payment).
It's similar in Europe, not as bad as you say though. An average Londoner uses half of his monthly wage to pay the rent. You get similar prices in Eastern Europe. A 100m2 house (which is quite small) costs over 200k € and the average wage is around €10k a year , so you'd have to save up 100% of it for 20 years to buy a small house in the city. Usually nobody can afford it and people buy on credit and pay it back in the next 30 - 40 years.
4815  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Hashnet Cloud Mining - Feedback please on: March 28, 2017, 07:18:50 PM
Whatever their name will be, almost all cloud mining sites are not profitable if you consider increasing mining difficulty.

Cloud mining sites also sell more mining power than what they actually have in their mining farms. Just buy bitcoin and hold, current price is very good entry point.
I always thought it's simply not worth the risk. You don't have to be a genius to see that you're giving money to a company that:
Can be fake from the start
Can disappear at any time
Is very difficult to pursue in court and even if you try it's going to take years to get anything back
Pays very little
Needs a lot of time to pay back your money, which means you will start to earn money usually after 12-18 months. In a bitcoin world, where the price can go up 10% in a day, it's a very long time.
4816  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is a war against china the only option? on: March 28, 2017, 06:49:41 PM
Not going to be worth it in the least for the Western Powers, some may say the economy of China is ever growing and is going to amass to be something much bigger than the West could ever imagine. This is not something that I fully believe is true as people in China / government officials are just inflating the numbers of growth in order to make themselves look better.

A war between the US and China would really just be a complete destruction of all of China within weeks (days if we're feeling like Atomic bomb time) and even comparing non Atomic weapons to the US is also such a joke to even look at. China, alongside Russia are countries that have outdated military goods and wouldn't be able to stand up to the technology of the United States.

Not the only option though and really shouldn't even be an option due to the sheer devastation the west / US would cause to China.
You're so wrong. In 2016, China had 68 submarines, compared to 75 owned by the US. Subs can patrol along the shores hunting supply ships and vehicle transports for months without the need to refuel.
A country that decides to attack never sends 100% of their forces to the front, but a defending one can, so we could expect not more than 80% of the US military (probably much less) to go to China, while the Chinese would defend with everything they have.
The States could launch an offensive against a small country like Iraq, that doesn't have a strong navy, but reaching the mainland China while being harassed from the sea would be extremely difficult. Even if they could win, it would be devastating for their military. China has over 2 million soldiers (active duty), which is the most in the world. To defeat such numbers the US would have to consider the possibility of losing at least 1 million of their own people and at least half of their arsenal. No country is going to take such odds.
4817  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is telekinesis possible? on: March 27, 2017, 11:59:12 PM
its not real, people are just looking to get your attention for views and in the end money, that stuff is a lie
It exists. We are using only a small part of our brains and there were people with supernatural powers, like mind readers, who after examination were found to be using more of their gray matter than a typical human. If we were able to awake that sleeping part of our brain we could most likely gain some additional skills like photographic memory and telepathy. Who knows, maybe even telekinesis.
4818  Economy / Economics / Re: The best time to invest. on: March 27, 2017, 11:50:36 PM
The best time to invest is now. Take the chance of price of bitcoin and if you don't invest right now you'll miss the chance of earning good profit in the future. As long as bitcoin is still not hitting the ATH, still everyday will always be the best time to invest.
Totally right, that's just a bounce by the bitcoin chart. Give a lot of the opportunity for the rich person to buy more cheap bitcoin and especially for the Chinese traders. A lot of noobs have lost it.
To invest in the right time. Might the bitcoin go to the bottom chart again like yesterday? and let's see.
Why did you decide that now is the time to invest in bitcoin? How do you know that the price of bitcoin falls even lower? Investing in bitcoin in General is very risky. Not very stable currency always drives away investors.
I agree with your last statement, but Bitcoin is not a typical currency. It's more of a means of payment, an asset.
Investing in Bitcoin is a great idea and I'll tell you why. Bitcoin has been around for almost 10 years now and it has never been a bad investment. If you bought it at any point you've earned money on it, because it always gained value. I'm a simple man, when something brings me profit over and over, I tend to treat it as a good investment
4819  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Protests on: March 27, 2017, 10:45:51 PM
These protests wasn't big and can't be compared with protest in 2011 for example. Now only 60k people in 82 cities participated in these protests. Main organizer of protests - Alexey Navalnyj was arrested for 15 days. Few weeks ago he released documentary movie about corruption of Russian Prime Minister D. Medvedev:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=qrwlk7_GF9g
You have a different opinion, you get arrested. How typical of fake democracy. In some countries only the people change but the system and corruption remain the same.
The Prime Minister and former President is Putin's puppet. Putin needed a break in his presidency, so he gave power to Medvedev for one term and took it back soon after, giving Medvedev a position in the parliament in exchange.

Ignorant or plain stupid? Maybe both. Did you come here to complain or just show the whole world that you're now butthurt about Bitcoin not sending your money as fast and as cheap as you'd like it to?
Go back to fiat, it will be just as you want it to and you will still have no idea how it works.
