4802  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: ATI Radeon 6970's for less than $300 on: May 26, 2011, 04:08:48 PM
UPDATE!

I just want to keep those interested update on the status of these cards. We are working out the amount of cards I can recieve from my supplier and I hope to have the order in tomorrow or Wed. Once I have the number of cards I can purchase, I will have the EXACT amount including shipping etc.

Once again, I will initially be selling these cards on my website to ensure safe transactions till I can establish myself as an honest trader. I will be accepting payments via paypal to ensure both the buyer and the seller protection against rip offs.

Thank you for everyone's interest I am anxious to get my hands on these cards!
I'm interested, can you point me to your web site?

that is one weird mom that you have.

4807  Bitcoin / Pools / Does pool hopping really work? on: May 26, 2011, 01:38:37 AM
Has anyone done any tests to prove that pool hopping actually works? i know there's a paper published a while ago with mathematical proof that it works, but is there any tests confirming this?

4808  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Browser Based GPU Mining - Krad Miner ALPHA - 1000X Faster than Javascript on: May 26, 2011, 01:09:25 AM
Very interesting.

Combine the client code with a plugin that streams video and earn a dime or two for every 2 hours a client watches. Time to call YouPorn and make a deal.
that sir, is just evil. you and everyone else who knows of this technology should be killed.
4809  Other / Obsolete (buying) / Re: Bounty: Open source WebCL miner on: May 26, 2011, 01:08:23 AM
the webcl code is freely available, why bother paying so much to get it open sourced?

you don't need a motherboard with enough pciex16 slots. you just need enough pcie slots, ANY will do, even x1 ones. also, get the absolute cheapest ram you can find.

this is a _VERY_ good card for mining. I get 400 MH/s stable with 1.15v. The price is a bit high though, considering these sell for $140 MRSP.

4818  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: HOW much is electricity cost in your country? on: May 25, 2011, 04:16:53 PM
it's cheap in china because they're all using coal. :p
4819  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Starting to mine with my 5850 on: May 25, 2011, 04:14:58 PM
That's a great oc. I'm not looking to oc further since I don't want to bring up power consumption. I have already altered a state on my cpu so it with little to none power while mining.

What pool would you recommend then that has a good payout?
The largest pool with 0% fee is btcguild ( http://www.btcguild.com/ ). it's smaller than deepbit, so you're going to get more variance, but in the end, you'll make more money.
4820  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: The next difficulty level will make mining unprofitable. on: May 25, 2011, 04:13:02 PM
If this is true, then why would anyone drop out when it becomes unprofitable? And if nobody drops out when it becomes unprofitable, it won't become profitable again.
People will drop out because it takes more money to mine than to buy. Anyone who mines at a loss is insane.

My prediction is that buying and operating a dedicated Bitcoin mining rig  will tend toward slightly less than break-even in the long run because of competition against:

a) people who get electricity for free (college dorm dwellers, parents' basement dwellers)
b) people who have high-end graphics cards for their own video game amusement, who also use them on the side for mining. These people only care about post-hardware-purchase profits, not pre-purchase profits.
correct.
