This topic needs to be bumped again...
![Kiss](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/kiss.gif) Nice bump. Yes I think it reflects well on the original poster that the one exception to his claims, Monero, has done so well while the others are in various states of failure. What sort of day will it be when monero blows past dash in market cap? A good day I'd say, and possibly sooner than I'd thought.

Two things. 1. You tell iCEBREAKER and arielwhoever whatever you like. I don't see why anyone here needs to do that for you. They don't belong to monero. They don't officially represent monero. 2. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fencrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com%2Fimages%3Fq%3Dtbn%3AANd9GcQ2W7-_uMlqNq2OyJu-nJ6k4qrPo_jA2MEhJXzAv_nijMRknoGP&t=663&c=S2rvVW1ubhuRUQ)

I have decided, yeah I'm slow, to convert a portion of my remaining btc into Monero.
If you have been looking to sell I would appreciate it if you do it today.
I'm new to this "talking your book". How did I do guys?
Looks like I am very bad at this, I caused a stampede ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) I did just the same yesterday, but your stampede may have caused half my orders not to get filled. Can't believe I was buying to tell the truth. Goes against my usual strategy. I just think this time may be special.

https://mymonero.com/ ever compromised? I deposited more than 10K xmr on mymonero last year, I forgot the last time I logged-in my wallet, it's been a long time. but today, I logged-in and found all xmr was stolen on yesterday, I have no idea how the hacker steal my xmr... Any advice for me? Please lay out screenshots, for without them, little hard to believe. vphen is in contact with me, can confirm that it appears his Monero was swiped. This is nb?ot the first time this has happened, previous instances have resulted from bad Tor exit nodes, rootkits, private keys stored in Word documents, and other malware that targets Monero. Suffice it to say, if the DNMs are waking up to Monero's usefulness now, malware authors have been aware of it for a while (see: the botnets that have been mining Monero for a couple of years already). PLEASE treat MyMonero as you would a normal wallet. If you would only carry $150 comfortably in cash in your actual wallet, then you should only keep like 40 XMR in your MyMonero wallet. For cold storage, use MoneroAddress or simplewallet offline on an air-gapped computer, and follow the instructions that have been detailed before. Perhaps implementing 2 factor would mitigate some of this. Is the code on github?

I am quite surprised that this little treasure didn't garner any comment. A lot of people in China are getting their very first exposure to XMR. This bit of editorial content was echoed on numerous web properties. When I clicked the link I couldn't make sense of it. It certainly doesn't look like Chinese. This is what I presume is the headline looks like. “暗网”出现新型网络货币 隐蔽性远超比特币 In Engrish: "Dark Web" appears far more subtle new network currency Bitcoin

Source title: "Dark Web" appears far more subtle new network currency Bitcoin
According to the Russian "Satellite News" August 24 reported that the "dark net" have found a new online currency Bitcoin over its concealment.
According to reports, the criminals "dark net" of anonymous currencies have been looking to engage in illegal and improper activities. It is reported that most people will buy and sell illegal drugs or other commodities used in Bitcoin "dark net".
Although Bitcoin can protect the privacy of criminals to some extent, but every Bitcoin is a transfer can be queried. Biggest drugs and other contraband commodities trading market Alphabay announced that they will be held September 1 date use Mondeo (Monero) as a transaction currency.
Unlike Mondeo Bitcoin, it can make every transaction can not query, and no one can find money to pay people. Bitcoin user's wallet is a single address, anyone can query all transactions, while Mondeo was every transaction generates a different address, only to master the query key personnel can see the transaction history.
Some experts believe the Mondeo more "secure." However, the popularity of the Mondeo range has not been expanded.

I am quite surprised that this little treasure didn't garner any comment. A lot of people in China are getting their very first exposure to XMR. This bit of editorial content was echoed on numerous web properties. I think they are using the name of a Euro/Chinese market Ford, the "Mondeo" in that article. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FJl0WUeI.png&t=663&c=DfAR3mOgoULqMg) ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2F1xBlpxO.png&t=663&c=2kU4LbyKXAoldA) But I don't know much about Chinese. ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

I too had a pile of Dark coin. It was just thinking through all the "features" of Dark coin that ended up leading me away from it. My main beef was a lot of the features look like either compromises or attack vectors to me. When I saw Monero what I saw was a clean simple cryptological platform which only tried to do one thing differently than Bitcoin. Since that time I have seen it improve in all the areas that are different than a typical scam coin or even something that is just hyped. Solidified codebase and cleanup (needed), block frequency (1m to 2m) changes, research into the possible weaknesses of CN (MRL), increased privacy (Shen), new database structure (LMDB). Zero hype. Zero flash. Currently I see the two biggest detractors of monero being: 1. Single(ish) point of BTC/XMR exchange failure This one is mitigated somewhat by the options that exist, but currently Poloniex is too much % or Monero trading. 2. Cryptography that is less tested that Bitcoins Like everyone else I want to see a nice functional GUI. But that is still pretty far down my list. That said, this would be a pretty good time to welcome the masses with a shiny, easy to use GUI. ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

If it smells like a Marketmakerpump, it tends to be a Marketmakerpump ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) What's funny is you've picked exactly the one time a large price rise in Monero is certainly NOT a "marketmaker pump". This rise was based on news. But you can do you your own DD.

Do yall recc storing XMR on a USB flash drive in a locked safe ? - any disadvantages to this?
When using a XMR wallet from a USB stick where do the back up files save? - (the keystore file like in bitcoin wallet?)
25 word seed on (archival? How crazy you want to get?) paper. Simple.

and now this useless scam will dump ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) Congrats! Was it Ex-Lax that finally got you there?

Looking at the pics it appears there is only one receiving address in a wallet. Does that mean that multiple wallets has to be created and synced and backed up and managed if I want to give different addresses to different parties? Payment IDs can be used for what you are describing. There are less arguments for lots of addresses with monero.

10k volume!!
IMAGE
24hr Volume: 10008.13360079 BTC / 1918420.59736845 XMR
Impressive indeed. Let's keep it like this. ATH will be a psychological barrier which is interesting to see if it can be supported for ever. Then the price can rise pretty fast and things escalate. I personally do not think what you are calling the ATH is really relevant. I mean.. it will have a psychological impact, partly becvause it was ~0.01 right? But I doubt there are more than a handful of people who bought coins at that level, and the few who did are most likely not going to unload giant tons of coins. There was about 3kBTC in volume at that time. We will have easily quadrupled that volume just on today... one day... easily 15x the average daily volume during that peak. The real technical ATH is was really 0.0043 and if we can go a day or so up around this level I'd say we've crushed that to bits. The fundamentals here are going to warp the technicals all to hell. "ATH" is trivial. The fact of the matter is: 1. Monero is finally venturing out into actual use. 2. Many many people who have never heard of it are hearing of it right now. What we have to worry about is not ~.01. It is the reception of the technology as it stands in the wild. If all the work done over the last couple years makes cryptonote a usable and stable platform which can begin to scale then we are in for a wild ride, and there's a little chance that even some of us small guppies stand to find wealth. (If only I still held any Monero!!! glub glub) On the other hand if the platform is too hard for the merchants and users to use, or if it breaks - Then we probably will not get another chance like this. Vectors to consider: 1. Blockchain scalability. Will the size of the blockchain become an issue? Do we have sufficient strategies to deal with exponential growth? 2. A single web wallet. Most users will use mymonero.com if they do not use an exchange. Is it robust and stable enough to handle this much more action? 3. The usual suspects. Thefts, NSA, Hacks, shady exchanges, etc. These won't kill us if they happen down the road, but I believe we are vulnerable right now. As a community member the best we can do now is to perform grassroots PR. Hold hands with new users. Help people set up mymonero accounts. Let people know how to navigate the exchanges. Help them understand how to use simplewallet. Do not expect them to have the values and skills present in most of the early adopters. Many may not care about what OS or even the details of privacy. Welcome them and give them what they need. Be honest above all. Warn people that leaving monero on an exchange is as risky as it ever has been. Don't pretend there are not risks associated with a fledgling cryptocurrency in a post BTC worls. Do worry so much about your bag Truecryptonaire. Price is just one part of what were are seeing. The really fun part, for sure... but on it's own? Just a play. A pump and dump. Monero is the real thing IMHO.

The next major resistance is ATH (0.011) if we get there. After that probably it is free fly since only real daredevils (besides miners) will sell as nobody knows how high this will fly. If the Darknet market people start also using (why they wouldn't) their demand might bring Monero to 100 usd each, even higher depending on how low you guys are gonna sell your coins to them. Mine are not for sale before 100 usd, and only like 10-50 XMR so that I can buy a few gold coins just for fun. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) So fuck it I should just go all in right now then and make a score of a lifetime. All in is a risky move but sometimes it pays off. The recent rise of Monero to 5's is in the very same time as this vid was publishded... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4S-eLLiTwk&feature=autoshareCoinincidence....? Entirely, yes.

It would most likely be treated as money laundering. I disagree with that potential line... But that's where my money'd be.

I haven't said anything like the following in a long time...
With so many new folks about to pour into monero... getting the GUI out very SOON would be a BOON.

Nor is that a monero subreddit.

Very interesting times. If using xmr catches on in online marketplaces the vendors who adopt earliest stand to make the most gains from the probable rise this will synergistically cause.
In the case of that sort of feedback loop, we should be aware a bubble is likely.

Yes 2 is the current minimum mixin is 2 but will be raised to 4. Therefore it seems to me that 4 is a good recommended minimum now. I use anywhere from 4 to 10.
Accepting a range as an input could be cool. If you always use the same value there is information leakage there. So its wise to use a random value within a comfortable range. However humans aren't good at random so it would be nice if the client could handle this. I'll submit this over in ideas I think. Are there any individual or team working to disprove this mixing and unlinking facility? I insist devs to offer bounty for people who try to disprove it and find bugs. Good point. We have the Monero research lab who does work in improving the code, but I would imagine the more eyes the better. I created a thread for you on the getmonero forum. *Edit: here's the link to the research lab and some of their work: https://lab.getmonero.org/ that's much better...

You won't make many friends 'insisting'on what people should do with their money. How about you put something up instead. 1k xmr perhaps?

Any idea when mymonero.com is going to start allowing logins again? It's totally stuck. I've been trying to log in for the better part of an hour.
I just logged in.
