4821  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Burger King Accepts Bitcoin on: February 19, 2016, 09:55:37 AM
Wow Burger King in the Netherland now accepts bitcoins Smiley A great news for all bitcoiners.

http://www.newsbtc.com/2016/02/19/burger-king-in-the-netherlands-accepts-bitcoin-and-hosts-meetups/

I really hope this becomes a trend for the other burger kinds in the Netherlands... To bad the nearest burger king for me would be Maastricht, but even then i would have to drive for over 40 minutes to get there.

Apperantly, it's rumored to be owned by JUA. I've heared mixed things about them.
Personally, i wouldn't use their service (to much risk of a scam/ponzi), but i guess in the end it's up to you.

4824  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Does anyone here go to Bitcoin Meetups? on: February 16, 2016, 12:48:14 PM
I'd love to go, but the nearest meetup is a two hour drive from my home... Since that's to far for me, i never went.
4825  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: If Me or someone else made a Premium Paid Faucet would you use it? on: February 16, 2016, 07:09:28 AM
The money has to come from somewhere.. Are you counting on people paying and than claiming less than they paid? Otherwise you have a hole in your balance..

It sounds basically like a pay 5 usd, get 10 usd in a week ponzi scheme. Only this time you call it premium faucet to draw in new people.

Anyway, you can always try to launch one. People are greedy and will likely try it out.

Indeed... I was wondering the same thing: what would be your business model?
In order for you to make money, there are only a couple options:
- break your promise, and do put up adds, while lowering the payout
- make it so hard to claim that the majority of your users pay a $5 monthly fee, but only claim $1...
- take as much money as you can and run without paying out your users

If you don't mind me asking, what does paypal have to do with microsoft licencing?
Are you trying to purchase a hacked licence using paypal, or what am i missing here?
4827  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] x8 Ant Miner S7 x10 SP35 x13 SP20 x1 SP10 and x13 SP20 on: February 11, 2016, 03:02:36 AM
I'd love to make an offer on an SP10 or SP20, but since i only need one the shipping would kill the deal.

If there are others within the EU that would be willing to groupbuy a couple of these machines in order to reduce the shipping costs, PM me and we can make a combined offer.

Moca:
Best of luck with the S7...looks like a beast!
The Monarch came assembled with liquid cooling and connects via usb or PCI...

Kilo & Moca
Who is the escrow here?
Throw me a bone.
I'm a noob for a reason.

Honestly, I'd like to support the technology, but I don't know what it's capable of....
For example: What is a relay network?  How do I join one?  I have 20 Gb of space, I'd love to run a node, but I don't know how to start!  I can't find anyone willing to guide me.
Just seems like you want to bash a guy for trying to get a refund on a failed investment.

Hi man,
Sorry if i sounded harsh... This was certainly not intended. I just wanted to point out why my bid is so much lower than the bid you expected. You're just unlucky that the S7 came out recently, so nobody is going to pay $1500 for (700 + 3 * 441) = 2Th when they can buy an S7 with more than double the hashrate for half the price (and half the power consumption).

20 Gb won't be enough to run a full node, i used to run a full node a couple months ago, and it used about 60 Gb at that time.

Escrows can be found here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=855778.0

It's a friendly community, so if you have questions, don't hesistate to ask Wink
4829  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: End User Calling It Quits on: February 11, 2016, 02:35:25 AM
Unless OP is willing to use 100% forum escrow then i would not be sending any BTC first.

Agreed, i actually forgot to add this to my bid, but i think it's a no-brainer.
I wouldn't send a satoshi to somebody without massive green trust unless it's trough a trusted forum escrow, and i expect others not to trust me without using an escrow either.
4830  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: End User Calling It Quits on: February 11, 2016, 02:24:22 AM
I've done this calculation before:

When i buy a new antimer S7, i pay less than $1 per 6 Ghs of hashing power. My power usage is only about 0.3J/Ghs and i get 3 months of factory warrantee.

An old S3 hashes at 441 Ghs, and uses 0.77 J/Ghs (https://bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020140630025130637RV8OhOwt06BC).

This is why i could potentially offer about $140 for the 3 Antminer S3 units (shipped to europe)

To be honest, i wouldn't know how to setup a Monarch. I know you either put them in a computer/server (so you'll need a fullblown PC or server running 24/7) or you need to make a special setup with liquid cooling and stuff... TBH, i'm not confortable learning that stuff.
So, unless you include a full manual, i cannot even bid on the monarch.
4831  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: PP->BTC on: February 11, 2016, 02:18:17 AM
like KWH already said: the problem is that paypal is reversible.

You could keep on exchanging PP for BTC for 179 days, open a dispute and get all your paypal funds back (and keep the BTC in the meantime).

Your best shot would be to use virwox.com to trade PP to BTC (well, trade PP to LLC, and then LLC to BTC). It won't cost you 25-28% comission either (altough their fees are quite large, nothing in the region of 25%)
4832  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: First For Bitcoin on: February 11, 2016, 02:12:48 AM
It's always good to see new sites to gain more public acceptance for bitcoin.
What bothers me is the loading speed and the theme you used. Granted, i'm not a designer myself, and my layouts always look bad, so i'm the last one to complain about this.
4833  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: (WTS) 6 Antminer S5 on: February 08, 2016, 06:08:07 PM

A new S7 hashes at 4730 Ghz and costs $786, while using 0.25 J/Ghs,

0.30 J/Ghs or 0.31 J/Ghs  Wink

I followed the stats on the specs page from bitmain to avoid errors, but i've just read that the stats read 0.25 + 10%. Sorry for the confusion.
My point is still the same, you're offering a great piece of hardware, and it's certainly worth some money, but since the S7 is on the market, i'm afraid my offer will stay pretty low Wink
4834  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: (WTS) 6 Antminer S5 on: February 08, 2016, 05:17:42 PM
I'm interested in an S5, but i cannot pay 350 bucks for it.
I know my bid will be low, but it's the best i can do. I certainly hope you'll receive some higher bids Smiley

A new S7 hashes at 4730 Ghz and costs $786, while using 0.25 J/Ghs,
This means that i would only pay one dollar for 6+ Ghs hashing power when i buy an S7 (and i get 3 months of factory guarantee).

If i wouldn't concider the fact that an S5 is second hand and the fact that the S5 uses 0.51 J//Ghs, i would offer 1155Ghs / (6Ghs/1$) = $192.

Since this is a second hand machine, and it uses more than double the power compared to an S7, i would bid $125.

This calculation isn't to get you mad, it's just to show you why my offer is so low. But i would completely understand if you'd find it to low.

4835  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Looking to hire an altcoin miner on: February 04, 2016, 03:55:18 PM
i'd suggest comparing nicehash and mininrigrentals. You'll be able to rent right away at a good price, with a guarantee (i know miningrigrentals refunds renters if the HW doesn't deliver the promised hashrate)

Thank you.

So what kind of BTC amount is considered big, 3 or 5 BTC is it big, is not that I have this much but just asking, cause thats my target 5 BTC Huh

I don't think anybody can tell you how much bitcoins is considered "a lot". This is something personal... For me 1000€ worth of bitcoins is a lot, for somebody else this might be peanuts, yet for a thirth person it's worth a year of labor (if he's from a third world country)

Hardware wallet prices start at around 25€, for me i'd need about 1000€ worth of bitcoins in order to purchase a hardware wallet
An old offline pc costs around 150€, for me i'd need at least 4000€ worth of bitcoins in order to have a dedicated offline pc
a paper wallet costs mere cents, but it's harder to get your coins out (you have to sweep the wallet in order to do so). I'd never keep all my coins on a paper wallet, just because i might need to spend some coins easily
4838  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin security on: February 03, 2016, 02:01:39 PM
Thank you guys I installed Electrum and did as per your instructions.

In some other websites I am using them, they told me if I cared a lot about BTC-s in my possession then I should switch to Mac or Linux if I am using Windows as too many flaws  Huh

I am using Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit, so what to do ,keep it or change it Huh I am not familiar at all with Linux and I know a bit about Mac as my cousin have one.
I did a malware scan with Spyware Terminator and it looks clean. What to do, trying next step or relying on Electrum  Huh

Personally, i'm a linux fan (i'm using windows at my work tough, since it's company policy). Eventough i like linux, i don't think it's a must.
Make sure you always have an up-to-date virusscanner and malware scanner, never click on suspicious links, install all untrusted programs in a sandbox and do regular updates.

If you don't hold to much coins, this setup should be sufficient... If you ever hold much coins, it's better to use a hardware wallet, an offline PC for signing or a paper wallet (generated with an offline pc)
4839  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin security on: February 03, 2016, 01:48:11 PM
I have done research on the net, and by doing it, I ended up in this forum. Hi to everyone as this is my first post and I didn't see a section for just introducing ourselves in here.
I have some BTC not that really high amount but I have earned it online. The problem is I have read so many stories of people being robbed of their BTC so I would like to know , what you guys do to keep your BTC secure online. Don't have the tech capacity to do it offline for now.  Huh

Like KenR said: try to avoid online wallets... They're known for being hacked/losing funds/...
You don't need a lot of technical knowledge to install electrum, they even have a "portable" version. Just download the package, unzip, double click the executable and you're on your way.
Don't forget to write down the seed electrum generates on a piece of paper, and store it really well.
4840  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Another round of faucets disabled by adsense on: February 03, 2016, 08:50:01 AM
Today I noticed another round of faucets without adsense ads.

The same happened a few weeks ago to some other major facets.

This looks bad for the economy of faucets  Undecided
very bad news,I don't know whey google adsense disable ads.it's not good for faucet runner.

For them (google), it's probably all about business.
They probably noticed that the traffic on faucet sites has a very bad CTR on their adds, so basically, their advertisers pay top dollar to get their ads seen, but they don't get enough quality traffic in return.
If this continues, advertisers will start using other platforms, costing google some business, so they decided to remove most (if not all) faucets.

To be honest: i haven't investigated the issue fully (don't use any faucets myself, neither do i run faucets). It's just an educated guess.
