4821  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Giving merit to newbies for good replies on: December 11, 2020, 02:19:47 PM
As noble as you're idea may be - and I really do believe it is -, it's probably not the best one. I've seen a lot of newbies recently who've gotten Merits for a few posts here and there, where the Meriter hadn't really looked any deeper in the newbie's post history. As soon as these guys reach Jr. or Member level, they join a campaign, at which point they start flooding the forum with spam. I don't have to tell you that many of them are here for one reason only: bounties.

I'd warmly recommend you to do at least a minimal quick check of the poster's history to make sure it's not a complete shitposting spammer who had one lucky shot. Otherwise, you might be unwillingly sponsoring a (future) spammer.

Just my 2 cents. Once again, I think your idea is noble, and you're completely free to do whatever you want to with your well-deserved sMerits.
Your observation is spot on. Some of these newbies just want to rank up to enable them find bounties. It's not that they're serious developing on the forum. However, some bounties don't rely on the rank but activities of the user to allow them enroll. That goes to show that most bounty managers don't give a hoot controlling spam and shit posting on the forum. All they care is to fill their spreadsheets to please their paymasters — the project teams.
4822  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] RRMine.com Signature Campaign | Full Members + Hero/Legendary ~ Up to $50 on: December 11, 2020, 01:10:00 PM
Anyway, I will continue wearing the sig and avatar until the final verdict posted. Hoping to work with you again soon.
If you keep wearing the signature and avatar when campaign is on hold or ended, how do you think the company will restart it since you will be providing them with free services in advertising? You're only doing a disservice to yourself and the CM.
4823  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Altcoins replace Bitcoin?!?!? on: December 10, 2020, 05:13:34 PM
Will the rise of altcoins eventually lead to the demise of Bitcoin? Ultimately Bitcoin has been tested and it has a place in the crypto world. Join our  discord https://discord.gg/pp7Jwsp9 for further discussions about this topic. Tell me what you think?
If you speak of replacing Bitcoin on price level, there are already several altcoins which are higher in price than Bitcoin. But if you meant replace Bitcoin as a coin, nah! Bitcoin is the pathfinder of the crypto industry and it simply means "No Bitcoin, no cryptocurrency." Any day Bitcoin proves to be worthless, that's the same day the entire cryptocurrency industry will collapse.
4824  Other / Meta / Re: BITCOINTALK FORUM NEEDS A DEFI SUB-BOARD on: December 09, 2020, 07:57:12 PM
I have already taken OP's topic as sarcasm, except there's something else I miss in the post. Otherwise, I like to see it as humour for what it is. So, why did no one create a sub-board for ICOs, IEOs and what not when they all trended? Defi is just a trend like many others before it. It's nothing special to warrant creating a board for, IMO. And it should stay in its rightful position as an altcoin and be treated as such. Nothing special, at all.
4825  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price of Bitcoin may increase normally but not as much as 400K on: December 09, 2020, 06:54:59 PM
While I'd really like to see bitcoin at such insane...
There is nothing insane about the price of Bitcoin the way I see it. Do you know that those who bought Bitcoin at less than $1 a decade ago wouldn't have believed it would get to the current price of today? They would've laughed at any suggestion of price getting anywhere near $15,000. But look at where price is today. Bitcoin is truly unpredictable.

$ 400k is too high a figure, I wonder how can I get a prediction as high as $ 400k? even though $ 20k still can't be surpassed,
We'd better leave this $ 400k prediction and think about $ 20k first.
With Bitcoin, nothing should be doubted!
4826  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Too much HODLing stealing opportunities? on: December 08, 2020, 05:57:28 PM
Isn't it true that too long a hodl can stop you from taking great opportunities while sitting dumb and waiting for a specific target?
It can, actually, deter opportunities. But the truth remains that no one can tell when an opportunity presents itself. If we know all these, that makes us humans omniscient then and all-knowing. We become God, and this isn't possible. No one sees a clear opportunity on legit issue and refuses to take it. I have missed a few opportunities too myself holding tokens I should've sold and the tokens never went back to the soared price. It went crashing like a stone left to fall from a 10-storey building.
4827  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What kind of trader are you - Day Trader or Swing Trader? on: December 08, 2020, 05:21:54 PM
I'm curious about you traders in this forum.

What kind of trader are you? Please also motivate why you chose this style.

1. Day Trader / Scalper
2. Swing Trader
3. Beginner, haven't started yet
4. Other (please explain)
I think "Intra Day" should come in somewhere in the list above. The Intra Day trader stays longer than the Scalper but doesn't last long like the Day Trader. He's an in between. Well, for me, I like to swing my trades. So, I should say I am a Swing Trader but that doesn't mean I can't take profit in less than a day once I trigger a trade if it meets my expectant level. The thing is that I hate to watch paint dry by always looking at the computer screen. Just set the level and TP and let it run.
4828  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: **family survives 40 countries living only on Bitcoins** on: December 08, 2020, 08:27:16 AM
I read the article on some site elsewhere and it warmed my heart to the family. Of course, not every store or services accepts Bitcoin and that could be a problem. There's always that need to exchange to fiat to get things going. I must acknowledge that they did take a huge risk selling off all valuables to buy Bitcoin (which is a very big gamble for me) and did have a huge stack of it. Anyone who started off that way would easily trade their hodlings at high and then buy back at low. That way one gets to still keep profit afloat.

4830  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies/Jr members please don't beg for merits. on: December 06, 2020, 07:59:47 PM
I've recently received a PM from a user who was close to ranking up, and who proposed me to check out his posts and consider Meriting them. I did not find that problematic and I didn't interpret it as begging.

However, sending messages purely begging for Merit - meaning: without actually explaining why you would deserve Merit - will probably lead to me leaving (neutral) feedback on your profile, like this guy.
Even, from the guy's username, it is obvious the user isn't a serious minded person. I don't bother reading mails from users like that for they're clearly spammers.

4832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is about wake up as sleeping Dragon on: December 05, 2020, 05:50:40 AM
Litecoin is underperforming at the moment when you compare its growth rate with Bitcoin at ATH in 2017. Litecoin got to well over $360.66 ATH, precisely on Dec 18, 2017 while Bitcoin did close to $20k. But today, Bitcoin has set a new ATH record, yet Litecoin is still below $90. By the way, the bull run you envisage for it is mere speculative just the same way we hold all altcoins to expectation. It may not come through at the end. Well, let's be hopeful something positive happens to LTC again.
4833  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin transaction can be lost? forever stuck transaction in mempool on: December 04, 2020, 08:39:35 AM
~snip
Finally, the near 3-day delayed transaction got confirmed a few hours ago. Though I knew it would eventually scale through, what would've been the case were Bitcoin taking a down slope movement calls for great concern. I guess we have got to that point where a drastic measure should be taken to abate this type of scenario whenever there's a bull run for Bitcoin. Normally, it's around this bull run that we have it repeatedly. It's frustrating.
4834  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Out of the pandemic and into the firedemic. on: December 03, 2020, 07:38:12 PM
~snip.
Africa's major issues aren't even among those you just listed. Her greatest issue is "bad leadership" which has further entrenched the culture of impunity and absence of strong institutions on that continent.  If this were to be tackled, even the brashest of politicians will quickly sit up and be accountable to the citizens. About the vaccine stuff, I ain't sure any country from that continent is making frantic efforts to invest in the vaccine. I think a better part of the ruling class believes that coronavirus is just a hoax.
4835  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Out of the pandemic and into the firedemic. on: December 03, 2020, 05:58:10 PM
I think this is what a lot of those in Africa are doing — not actually getting scared by the news of the  pandemic and the death tolls made daily on radios and newspaper. But wait! Could the nonchalance be from the fact that political leaders in Africa don't even value the sanctity of human life? I think it's the latter. Preservation of life really doesn't mean much to African politicians, provided the dead isn't any of their beloved ones.

However, I side with you on this. A lot of people have even died from apprehension of the pandemic than the pandemic itself.
4836  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin transaction can be lost? forever stuck transaction in mempool on: December 03, 2020, 02:09:59 PM
This is the hardest problem Bitcoin is battling to overcome, but hasn't been able to. If delayed transactions and network congestion don't destroy Bitcoin, nothing else will. I have the same issue ATM which has lingered since Dec 1 till now even when the fee is very ok for the transaction.

Of course, I know it will eventually get confirmed but what of if price had been plunging since I made that deal? It's really appalling. May be miners are the ones trying to kill this game.
4837  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your Life After 10 years in Bitcoin... on: December 03, 2020, 12:37:52 PM
Perhaps, OP should've stated the question from the time of the most famous Bitcoin awareness —2017. That was the time Bitcoin had an unprecedented publicity. Sadly, that was when I joined this forum with little or no idea of what Bitcoin was. The bull run happened before my eyes like an Eldorado. It was like Bitcoin would never crash even though a lot of veterans made predictions it was going down to below $5,000. That range seemed impossible at the time. Well, we all know that story now. My story from that point hasn't been extraordinary. It's the same story of waiting for altcoins to push up because of Bitcoin run.

However, look at what I found about Bitcoin All Time Low. I believe the data isn't correct. Wasn't there a time Bitcoin sold for that less?

4838  Economy / Speculation / Re: Heavy BTC resistance at $20k on: December 03, 2020, 09:39:57 AM
There is heavy BTC resistance at $20,000. Last time also, this was the level.

I think it is time to partially liquidate BTC and move the money to Cardano/Ripple/Tron etc. These coins haven't maxed out yet and still have 2-3x potential.

What's your thought?
My thought exactly is to push in more buy orders so as to break that tough resistance on Bitcoin. Remember it had its ATH in 2017 around that level and that's why it's taking time to surmount. More buy orders will turn that resistance to support floor. It isn't time yet to diversify into altcoins. Time for altcoins will come later after Bitcoin has make another ATH, possibly in 2021.

4839  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Airdrops are important on: December 02, 2020, 07:26:03 PM
One of the things airdrops do is to kick up trading activities on exchanges when eventually listed to provide volume. Trading volume is one of the things traders look at when buying tokens/coins. There are some projects which don't run ICOs or presale, just airdrops. For projects like that, you can't over emphasize the importance of airdrops. Yes, quite alright we can say that most airdrops this day are worthless and the valuable ones are very few with tiny bits of airdropped tokens given out. Most times, the promised airdrops aren't even given out. The scam projects end up just getting receivers data.
4840  Economy / Speculation / Re: Best way to trade with Bitcoin approaching $20K? on: December 02, 2020, 06:16:41 PM
There is nothing special trading Bitcoin as it approaches the $20k level other than watching for more buys. It's an uptrend and so you should avoid the impulse of selling until you're sure the trend has turned bearish. Just look out for buy trades, not sell.

How many times could we expect this pattern to repeat before a break through?
Normally, I will look at the third attempt of it happening and if on the third attempt it doesn't break the Resistance then I should consider it very hard to warrant a drop from that level. But if it breaks on the third attempt, that means it's a continued uptrend.

Are we expecting similar patterns to repeat over the next week?
Yes, history has a way of repeating itself. This is the same reason traders study charts.
