The Cleveland Cavaliers vs Boston Celtics game turned out to be a great one. The Cleveland Cavs won it in overtime and fought hard the entire time. Garland and Mitchell are scoring machines and Jarrett Allen is a force down low. I think this Cleveland team might be for real. Crazy because I thought they were going to tank this season but instead they might be a high seed in the postseason.
4842  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul VS Anderson Silva October 29th on: November 03, 2022, 03:46:27 AM
^of course it’s about money. Not only did Silva get a fat paycheck for this fight, where he probably felt it was easier than an MMA fight, but he also landed himself as president of a new organization to increase fighter benefits. I believe this is Jake Paul attempting to build his own UFC type company where fighters get paid more and he becomes a billionaire.
4843  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Portable mining - what and how? on: November 02, 2022, 07:20:32 PM
Easiest way to do your portable miner is just to buy an ASIC. However you will need an Ethernet cable to plug it in for internet and that’s it. Very portable. Just a small box with a PSU connected to it.

Could the Internet come from 5g/4g?

What are likely returns per day if its running say 4 hours a day?

I'm self employed but rent an office that I get access to at a cost per use, and it comes with bills all included for that short time I use it, so want to make the most of my time renting that space.

The kind of miner you would need to run to make even a dollar in 4 hours would be so loud and kick off so much heat that it would get you fired or annoy you to the point you’d pay more to be rid of it.

There are silent miners that don’t kick off massive amounts of heat, but you’d earn about $0.10 per day using it. Basically, mining isn’t something you can do part time and you’d never recover your hardware costs that way.

The only way your plan would be any good at all is if you had a gpu sitting around or in your office machine that could mine while you’re there.
4844  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you have anyone you trust? on: November 02, 2022, 05:20:00 PM
Someone once told me that if you know people, you don’t have to trust them. So I think instead of blindly trusting people and getting left disappointed, make sure you know the people around you well. Know the ones who will steal from you or lie to you and the ones that won’t. People all have their own codes they live by. Figure that out and you’ll never have to trust anyone, you’ll just have to know them.

4846  Economy / Speculation / Re: The pump isn't coming sooner on: November 02, 2022, 03:38:45 PM
I believe that the future of crypto currency is strong and big, I am a long term investment myself but...

There are many posts on this forum saying the crypto bear market is over, some are already saying that a pump is coming.

The truth is they don't know what's coming, bear market can last longer than they think, it will get to the point where many will give up or about to give up before things start changing.

Some holders will get bored and tired.

Some will even start believing that crypto is dead.

We haven't even get to that point yet.

Most of my friends that hop in at the top of the bubbles every 4 years were all out by the time it hit $30K. While it is possible that we may see another leg down before the blast off to the moon, I feel safe saying we’re definitely in an accumulation phase and the smart money is buying BTC here. Historically speaking, this is the time in the cycle when Bitcoin hits bottom, so while I don’t expect history to repeat, it will rhyme. Don’t miss out on accumulating through the bottom year of the market by trying to catch the exact bottom. Stack sats!
4847  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: November 02, 2022, 03:35:27 PM
A lot of nationally televised games today to watch and get your bet on with. NBC has a doubleheader with the Wizards and 76ers up first at 3pm pst (76ers to win). Then they have the Hornets and Bulls game at 5:00 pst. While that is going on you also have the Celtics and Cavaliers at 4:30 pst on ESPN which should be a great game to watch. Finally, to close out the night on ESPN you have the Grizzlies and Trailblazers at 7:00.

Probably the best game of the night (that I won’t be able to watch) will be the Lakers and Pelicans. I wish ESPN or NBC would have picked up that game instead.

Edit: Steve Nash fired as the Nets coach.

This is not good news, and I don't think Nash deserved to be fired. First of all, it should be noted that Nash didn't have enough experience to manage players like Irving, Durant, and Harden in his first year as head coach. Therefore the beginning of Nash's coaching career was extremely difficult because he had to constantly adapt to solve various problems on the team.
By the way, there are already rumors that the Nets are in talks with Udoka, and I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes the new Nets' head coach.

p.s
It looks like Durant will be pleased with himself because he pushed for Nash's firing since the offseason.

Surely not a good thing for the Nets because they need Steve Nash now more than ever and seriously not a wise move from the management. Because why would they fire Steve Nash? It was just a bad start and it's not like that they haven't' won at least 1 game since the season started, they should've give him more time to adjust too as having the Big Three Drama Queens under his watch is not an easy thing to do because they have their own worlds.

Also, is this real that Ime Udoka will be replacing Steve Nash? Because I don't think that the Celtics will just simply agree as having Udoka in other team means that the Bucks weaknesses will be revealed too. Seriously, what happened to NBA these days? Everybody want instant progress.

Yes, it’s real that Ime Udoka will be replacing Steve Nash as the Brooklyn Nets head coach. At least according to Woj. It should be official this week. I definitely didn’t expect that Udoka would have a new coaching job before the news of what happened in Boston became public, especially after Matt Barnes made it sound like Udoka was finished in professional sports. Seems like the Nets are going out of their way to sign the most problematic players and staff they can get their hands on.

There’s been lots that I’ve seen pop up in this section, but their threads usually get buried pretty quickly. You might have some luck using the search function to find the threads that you are looking for. Maybe with some visibility on this thread some people will be able to help also. Good luck with your search!
4850  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will Fed take tomorrow? on: November 02, 2022, 05:40:17 AM
I think most people are expecting a 75 bps increase. The Fed does occasionally get accusations of being political so it wouldn’t come as a complete and total surprise if they increased by only 50 bps in order to let the market shoot upward in time to vote in the election. I think anything less than 75bps would signal a reversal from the Fed that the market would cheer.
4851  Other / Meta / Re: [POLL] Should there be a 🍀 BTC AIRDROP 🍀 to Bitcointalk Merit Sources on: November 02, 2022, 05:37:17 AM
I don’t think payment is necessary and I don’t think theymos would want to take the time to set up some sort of payout method. It would be cool though of course. The idea of this forum providing jobs to people even if they are small payments, is a pretty cool one. Maybe if people received tiny amounts of satoshis for things like posts and merits, that would be a reason to use the lightning network.
4852  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 02, 2022, 05:33:54 AM
Dwight Howard openly campaigning to get signed to the Golden State Warriors is something I didn’t see coming. I like it though. I think he is extremely underrated and still one of the most dominant players in the league. I think he could help the Warriors out a lot, but he’s a bit of a problem in the locker room. Still, I like the idea of Steph having a Hall of Famer fetching his rebounds.
4853  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 01, 2022, 07:12:36 PM
Tonight we have another TNT crew doubleheader. First the Bulls and the Nets. I think I’m going to go with the Nets on this one. They’re still playing bad, but squeaking out wins lately and the Bulls always struggle against good teams. Then we have the Timberwolves and Suns. Both teams matchup poorly with each other, so this will be an interesting game to watch. I think the shooting guard battle will likely be the story of that game.

Edit: Steve Nash fired as the Nets coach.
4854  Economy / Speculation / Re: The real bottom is yet to come of BTC on: November 01, 2022, 07:09:50 PM
I am very curious about what’s going to happen when foreign currencies (outside the US dollar) begin to normalize again. Right now I imagine that people in Japan or Europe are probably rushing into Bitcoin to preserve their purchasing power and not be decimated by their local currencies being destroyed in value. What happens when their currencies aren’t sinking like a stone anymore and Bitcoin starts to drop in yen or euro, whatever? Will be interesting to watch.

Speaking of the Lakers...  It seems like Myles Turner and Buddy Hield know what they should do...  Woj was talking to Myles Turner about a trade and he had some things to say about the Lakers...  I think specifically Buddy Hield is exactly what the Lakers are missing.  He'll come in and shoot 40% from three point range and be LeBron's best friend in no time.  I can't believe that the Lakers haven't been able to find a decent shooter for LeBron to pass the ball out to.  That's pretty much all LeBron needs to win.

Looks like the Kawhi Leonard and John Wall experiment is going about as expected. Kawhi is set to miss the next six games at least with the same ACL issue that’s plagued him. I don’t know the exact story with John Wall’s eligibility but he’s not playing again tonight and hasn’t put in too many minutes this season.

How about the Bucks? They’re still undefeated at 6-0 to start the season.
4857  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bull or bear November? on: November 01, 2022, 12:49:00 AM
I am going to foolishly say we are going to have a bearish November. I don’t have any real reason, except that October felt too bullish to me. I think the next jump in price is going to be from FTX releasing a stablecoin, but I think expecting that to happen within the next 30 days is a bit optimistic. I’m overall bullish, but I think there’s a good chance the price could be lower in 30 days.

Hilarious retorts to Craig Wright from Snowden on twitter today. Worth looking into if you haven’t seen it yet. I also saw something else that made me laugh. Someone posted a twist on the saying, “We are all satoshi, except Craig Wright.” Instead in replay to someone who claimed to be Craig Wright they said, “We are all Craig Wright, except satoshi.”  Cheesy Grin

Goodness gracious, Denver Nuggets are so kind that they've given the first-ever win for the Lakers. Kidding Aside.
I thought that the Nuggets would be able to catch up with the lead of the Lakers but that's it, it seems an achievement and many are happy with this win for the Lakers.
We are wishing them that this should be the motivation on them to get their next wins.

It is nice to see the Lakers get a W finally. They were led by Russell Westbrook having a good shooting night off the bench as the Lakers second unit destroyed the Nuggets’ all night. A nice picture of what the Lakers are capable of.

I was also surprised to see the Warriors lose to the Pistons and go below .500 on the season now. Klay Thompson needs to get healthy both physically and mentally so he can return to the court.
