4841  Other / Politics & Society / Re: David Rockefeller dies aged 101 on: March 20, 2017, 07:21:31 PM
You mean he had 7 heart transplants? That's too much. He had the money to afford the transplants and here there are so many who don't have money and die at such a young age. May his soul RIP.
And all this while some people are waiting long years for a single one and some are dying never being able to get it. Money can buy you everything even long life, but not immortality.
He became rich and lived a long life, I only wish for just one of these things in my life, whichever it may be, but I most likely won't get any.
4842  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how has your attitude to bitcoin changed the longer you've been into it? on: March 20, 2017, 07:17:09 PM
My first experience with Bitcoin was not so good. Most businesses I got interested in happened to be scams and the price of Bitcoin was going down fast. I had some money invested but all my early ones seemed to turn into losses. I decided to hold and not care about the price, hoping that it will slowly recover and it did. Now I'm happy that I got into Bitcoin and I hope it continues to grow.
4843  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If money would not be a problem, would you still gamble? on: March 20, 2017, 07:13:11 PM
I think I would definitely continue to gamble and I'd have even more fun doing it. The only downside of gambling is the risk that you will lose too much or that you'll have trouble getting over your loss, even if it's not a huge one. If I had a lot of money that problem would have disappeared in an instant.
4844  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Have you ever known anybody who was robbed by police? on: March 18, 2017, 06:49:38 PM
WOW They are making obed $70k a year? Nice! In Europe cops earn less than half of this! How greedy you have to be to apply for a job that requires you to uphold the law and protect people just to steal from them and break the law yourself Undecided

I have been robbed by police in the past as liquor consumption is illegal in my state and one day they caught me consuming liquor and they started to demand for money and if not then they would file a FIR against me and in that case I had to pay them money.
I'm guessing consumption is legal on private property. You were on a state property and that's why they approached you. How much did you pay?

One last point, it does not matter whether a person says he is innocent or guilty. I am a bit obnoxious about arguing and have my opinion, but for the bounty and discussion, if a person can point to some excellent indication that he might be guilty, that has the same value.

Probably my last input for a while / most of the evidence seems to be what you would expect to see if he were not guilty. But there is no casecloser, no absolute strong indicator one way or another. If a person can provide one massive piece of evidence either way, I'll add what I can to their bounty. In my opinion the best place to look for that is in time of death.
I honestly think he could be innocent. It's not even about of the lack of evidence, but the mistakes made by the investigators, the police and the prosecutor. Usually in a high profile case losing a vital piece of evidence is huge, but not here. Somebody should be held responsible for the loss, because somebody had to bring that into the lab and fill in the form. Some technician's name is on that form, why wasn't he asked to testify in court?
They didn't try to hold the suspects (roommates) in custody or under observation, they asked them a couple questions and let them go.
They did not use all technology in their power to interview all the suspects.
The prime suspect was beaten up before the questioning, why wasn't that brought up in court?
Why wasn't a lawyer present during the questioning?
Why weren't the roommates asked what they were doing when the police came to their house. Why didn't they respond? They were at home with the body at that time!
Why was there blood in their room. They spent 24h with a big stain of blood on the carpet.

Quotes from articles that could make you doubt his guilt:
"Police have said the girl was likely dead within an hour of leaving her family's nearby apartment."
Wrong assumption. She died later than 2:30 according to the medics.

About the time of death:
"He beat and sexually assaulted her, prosecutors said, inflicting no less than 21 injuries to the small girl.
Then, prosecutor Robert Parrish said, he left her to die.
Her broken body was found the next day after a widespread search of the South Parc homes..."

Now we know that death occurred later, when Met wasn't there. It's possible that she died from injuries after some time and that's how it was explained in court.
This could point either way, but since we know she was left to die, we also know that it's possible the roommates were present at the time of death. Why wasn't this pursued further?

"Frasier explained that injuries to Hser's genitals were extremely rare and probably caused by forceful penetration.
There was no DNA evidence found on the body to suggest a sexual assault took place..."

Rare, means not caused in an intercourse. And no DNA confirms it.
Met was sentenced for rape and murder and every newspaper and news site screamed that he raped her, even though the ME said there was no rape. There was a possibility the damage was done post mortem, and this would mean Met was not able to do it, because the death happened after he left the apartment!

Mikal Wersland, a sergeant with the South Salt Lake Police Department:
"They told me they found what they believed to be blood evidence in the stairwell of one of the apartments we hadn’t been able to search"
A stairwell the 4 roommates were using for 24 hours after the murder...

The judge:
"That's part of the reason she sentenced him so harshly, she said — she feared he was "extremely dangerous" and could kill again."
The judge let her personal feelings guide her verdict.

Guilty beyond reasonable doubt...
4846  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Genesis Mining Review 2017 - Is This Bitcoin Cloud Mining Site Profitable? on: March 18, 2017, 05:06:51 PM
Is bitcoin mining really profitable? Honest comment appreciated
You're trying to make this topic look like an invite to discussion but it's pure and simple advertising. Why don't you ask in one of the existing threads about GM?

They have displayed photos and videos of their installations proving they’re a true mining operation.
We know they are mining, but they are mining for themselves, not for their clients. The clients are their milk cows, giving them 0% loans.

When will applications be considered for participation?
Probably today. Our manager usually comes online to count the posts on Wednesday evening Cool
4848  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: AntPool - switch to Bitcoin Unlimited on: March 15, 2017, 02:39:05 PM
i think it is a matter of time until other huge miner will switch to BU
This won't change much, they need 70%,  which means they still have a long way to go and in the meantime another better solution may be proposed.
Don't forget there's still a strong opposition to BU. One thing is certain, if the fork happens you will all be able to get some cheap coins, because the price will take a huge hit.
4849  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cloud Mining Viable in 2017? on: March 15, 2017, 02:13:51 PM
Genesis Mining and Hashflare. For the price these company sells their contracts you can ROI in almost a year, without difficulty change and change of bitcoin exchange rate. Due to difficulty change it's much longer, so ROI is even more difficult to reach, if reached at all.

So for me ROI (under mentioned ideal circumstances) must be held in less then half a year, then -when real circumstances like difficulty changes are considered- ROI is reachable in less then a year.
You should read some of the statements from their real users. One guy bought a 2 year contract with GM and got it terminated by the company because they said it wasn't profitable anymore. That's how your ROI in a year works with these companies. You buy a lifetime contract and it suddenly ends after a year or 2, right when it could start being profitable for you.
4850  Other / Politics & Society / Re: We aint free on: March 15, 2017, 02:05:07 PM
Ok I'll follow your logic for a moment. If we don't care about the money and stop chasing it, how do you propose that we trade?
I agree that there's not much freedom in the world and governments are trying to dictate people what to do, but there's no viable alternative at the moment. Anarchy would lead to chaos and those in power now will not give it up without a fight. To change it we'd first need an armed rebellion that could lead to a civil war and then what?
4851  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin bring any country on its knees? on: March 14, 2017, 10:41:20 PM
It is possible if a country allowed its people to drop fiat and move their capital out of the country through Bitcoin. It was happening in China in 2014 and caused the government to impose bans on money transfer.
What happened there was only a small leak, if at least 30% of the citizens thought of this and the government would not react there would be chaos and banks would be the first to fall.
4852  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has no competition on: March 14, 2017, 10:38:00 PM
it may take some time but there will be, either Eth or DASH will soon rise you to compete BTC with almost same price. the crypto market has been exposed to people who are looking for investment through the help of SEC and now they are gathering as much as they can. prices will soon rise.
You must be joking. Litecoin, the oldest altcoin hasn't made it even half way and you think the others will? Altcoin investors are usually in for a quick buck and they will cash out multiple times crashing the price. For an altcoin to reach 500$ or 600$ there would have to be a miracle, in other words Bitcoin would have to fork or have a fatal flaw exposed for people to drop it and invest in one of the alts. The investment has to come from somewhere and there's not enough interest in altcoins for people to push one of them to the same market cap that Bitcoin has.
4853  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why we still gambling while we always lose? on: March 14, 2017, 10:32:32 PM
I usually gamble for fun and for the thrill. It's really entertaining when you place a bet on your favourite team or a player and watch the match with friends commenting and having fun. Betting gives that additional spice to the whole social event. I don't always lose and when I do I don't dwell upon it and I don't start topics to shed my tears in.
4854  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin business idea on: March 14, 2017, 10:19:26 PM
Starting a business from scratch is easy if you have a certain set of skills. For instance you can be a good writer or painter and you can start selling your works for Bitcoin.
I always found it difficult to start a business, because I have no unique skills. I'd have to become a trader or write small articles for news sites, which IMO isn't paid good and kind of boring.
4855  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Protests in Belarus on: March 14, 2017, 10:01:51 PM
Actually, the tax against social parasitism is a good idea. In the former USSR, social parasites were rounded up and they were either shot or sent to the gulags. At least these people should be thanking Lukashenko, as he is not shooting them at point blank.
They are not parasites as long as they aren't given anything by the government. Could you explain what an unemployed person is taking from the rest of the society?

In my view the tax is ridiculous and unexecutable due to many reasons:
1. An unemployed person has no income, but has to eat and live somewhere. Such people have expenses and are often in debt.
2. It's impossible to demand and execute payment of people with no money / in debt.
3. For this law to have grounds, the rate of unemployment would have to be 0 or close to it. It's completely unjust to demand from all people to find work when there's more people than positions to be filled.
4856  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you like 0% house edge casino games? on: March 14, 2017, 09:53:40 PM
Of course I like it. 0% edge means more profit for me, we should all like the idea of more money at no expense.
I don't really care how they can achieve it as long as I'm being paid fair and square. Some of you say that they must be ripping people off to do it, but they can have a big budget and want to promote a brand. They can be another large casino branching out.
4857  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should governments allow people to pay their taxes in Bitcoin BTC? on: March 14, 2017, 09:45:11 PM
They should, but they won't. Countries accept tax payments only in their own currency, unless there's something that I'm missing.
If large EU countries, those which haven't accepted Euro yet, don't allow their citizens to pay taxes in Euro, they won't do an exception for Bitcoin. Think how many people would are using Euro every day and would like to use it to pay their taxes instead of their local currency and how many would like to do it in Bitcoin. There's simply not enough pressure from the people.
4858  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin on its way to $1,300 on: March 13, 2017, 11:23:53 PM
Looks like we got over the ETF failure and moved on. Those who had buy orders set  up can now enjoy their free coins and watch them grow in value. I wish I weren't scared to keep money on exchanges and had some orders ready, because I sure don't lack support for Bitcoin and knew SEC is not going to mess it up for us. I hope we'll see $1500 this year!
4859  Economy / Economics / Re: Two Visions for Bitcoin on: March 13, 2017, 11:19:39 PM
I'm a 2. I like how Bitcoin is doing and I like the community. Why not 1? Because the block size debate makes me a bit worried. I hope people will find a way to update the code in the way that everyone will accept and there won't be any fights among the community.
4860  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Brexit bill approved! What does this mean to bitcoin if anything? on: March 13, 2017, 11:15:26 PM
I'd say GBP is going to remain strong, it's Euro that I'd be worried about. GB doesn't need EU to function, it's the other way round. Countries that formed The Union were doing fine before and they will continue to do so when the Union collapses. Brits felt bad in there, so they left. There's really nothing to be scared of and I don't think they will start buying Bitcoin because of it.
