Nice piece of unbiased journalism. Oh wait, no ....

Journalism wasn't too bad but "funny" that they choose to use the most ugly-looking pictures..

Is X11 coin doing anything right, or is it a premine pump?

It's a PoS/PoW hybrid. PoW coins have already been mined, now it went into PoS mode.

The anonymity method is "unorthodox" as nodes are trusted to forward the money instead of stealing them - which will be a nightmare to enforce.

Thank you for all the information I needed  Tongue
4863  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: June 02, 2014, 07:52:37 AM
I think its hard to balance the value of DRK and LTC.... DRK seems to bring the perception of anonymity, but its only a perception. At one point, the market will realise that there are better options out there (MRO). LTC seems to have a bit of an implementation already, also it has the perception of skyrocket during a bitcoin bubble.

In the end, I guess its the same game. Betting on these coins isnt betting on innovation or future adoption as everything they do, there are other coins that do it better. But not everyone knows that. Thus, I would consider it as betting on the lack of information of the market. It would be a pure speculate and short term move.

I think LTC pump is a possibility but not a certainty. I would be interested to buy it at maximum 0.01 though, to make it a +EV.

Not interested in any of the TOP-3-10 coins.

Is X11 coin doing anything right, or is it a premine pump?

Gold Collapsing. Bitcoin UP.

Is it intentional that you say so always when the daily charts say the opposite?
4865  Economy / Economics / Re: Monthly average USD/bitcoin price & trend on: June 02, 2014, 07:24:56 AM
Extrapolation doesn't work well on trading.

A quick way to poor house if anyone using this method to trade.

LOL, I must be doing really bad then, having followed the method methodically in the last bubble..

Here is updated tonico's chart made with R:

Can we get an update?

Official prices for April and May updated. You can see that May average was higher than that of April, so the downtrend is over from this perspective also!

The trend is rising so fast that we are still -0.339 below the trend, with the record being set at -0.446 in 2014-5-19.
4868  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 01, 2014, 04:44:18 AM
I remember the thread "is it me or bitcoin tends to gravitate towards 666?"

Bitcoin is always == BTC1.

It's the dollar that takes pleasure in staying near 1/666 of BTC. But those days may soon be numbered.
4869  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: 2014 USD/mBTC Price Prediction Contest on: June 01, 2014, 04:37:23 AM
Ten minutes left to stay under $630.95 and net me 0.5472 points. I'm bristling with anticipation!

It's all over! Price for the end of May: $627.80. 0.5472 points for me!

Volume weighed average, which we use in this game, was actually "only"

2014-05-31 00:00:00   621   628.5   611   627.8   9696.71   6023688.83   621.21

Nevertheless, I am happy with the revival Smiley

The only short term problem for MRO is that supply is a tad bit more than demand.

Currently, the market has corrected that one a fair bit. When first introduced to MRO, I calculated that 0.002 would be the sweet spot and I decided to make the bulk of my purchases at that price, which has indeed succeeded.

I like the fact that MRO needs to gain value by its merits, and not via the usual premine-instamine-ninjamine-pump route.

Also kudos to aminorex for introducing the forum vets to MRO. I think it was he who first dropped hints in the Wall Observer thread.

Yes, thanks to him!

Some of the transfers are experiencing delays.

Important:

At least one 50,000 bits transaction has gone missing (or delayed 48+ hours). I strongly urge the OP to reply in PM and sort this matter out soon!
4873  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: 2014 USD/mBTC Price Prediction Contest on: May 29, 2014, 06:48:44 PM
New entrants: You have 4 hours to go, to participate in the contest starting from next month!

The entrance fee must be paid now, the prediction submitted before the month changes.

Welcome!  Smiley

I am sorry but I did not choose to take this opportunity. You will have to order from the manufacturer or one of their distributors.

I have lots of MRO buys between this level and 0.002 but seems that I am not the only one..  Cheesy

I registered to this one, decided to give it a go without hesitation.

I did not read the TOS, the registration was over in a few seconds.

Immediately loaded my account with 500,000 bits. It appeared in about 5 minutes and I started using it.

Sent 10k and 5k to my friends without asking their approval. One without public note, and the other with a wall post.

Fee is a very reasonable 100 bits (0.1mBTC = standard network fee) regardless of the amount.

There is no transaction history, which is a big minus.

I am interested what happens if the recipients reject the transaction.

I don't yet know anything about the technology.

TL;DR: WOW - this app alone is boosting Bitcoin price by $100+ in the remainder of 2014  Shocked

I have now sent to about 15 friends. One of my friends does not show up in the friends list and the "search" also does not find him. What's funny, he can send to me without problems.

Some of the transfers are experiencing delays.

Transaction history is still the most needed feature.

Jorge,

How many students do you have? Are you willing to facilitate giving each of your students some bitcoin? I'm willing to fund a project like this.

Oooooh, great idea! I pledge to give 23 of his students (if there are any) 5mBTC each. Cheesy

you can quote me on this.

Thanks for quoting me as i'm sure he has me on ignore. I'll pledge $2000

QuickCoin is a great way of doing this. You can send 3 times per minute to people who have a FB account but have not even heard of Bitcoin. I will send to all my FB friends..Smiley

Quickcoin is the coolest thing that happened to Bitcoin since whitepaper.
