4881  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Project Covid-19: Supply to 50 (Now 70) families in PH, Nigeria {Completed} on: June 08, 2020, 09:05:44 PM
Today marks the end of the second community outreach organized by BrainbossCares foundation and sponsored by the Bitcointalk Project Covid19 initiated by @Royse777 and @Lauda. I want to use this opportunity to thank everyone that contributed to the success of this project from the donators down to the well wishers.
All the thanks go to you @Brainboss, I know the feeling of going out during this pandemic, alot of people are afraid of contracting the virus whenever they go out, so they fear the worst if they leave home. But you fearlessly took it upon yourself, to go into different communities to distribute this relief materials, only someone who cares can do that, and I want to say a big thank you to you and congratulations for successfully completing this humanitarian task.

I hope you are safe and healthy, the bitcointalk community is proud of you, Royse777 and Lauda. cheers!
4882  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What percentage of tase, is currently loyal to Bitcoin....! on: June 08, 2020, 11:29:11 AM
I have friends who were actually formed by the community in our day and were introduced to Bitcoin at that time, but at our meeting this time it was very different, I didn't blame them for doing something best for them ,work maybe is the best. (for them to do).

I only give advice that they keep investing Bitcoin, and other work continues while they have the ability to do it, don't leave Bitcoin, which has given they glory in the past, that's my advice.
IIRC when I joined bitcointalk, I read threads of users asking if it's good to trade or invest full time with no job to do, but all the answers amounted to a resounding NO, so your friends do not have to quit their job or stay without working to still nurture and retain their interests in bitcoin (trading or investing etc)
I think what makes bitcoin popular before in my countries are those money doubling program popularly refers to HYIP that uses crypto as part of payment donation method and ever since many got scammed bitcoin wasn't always pleasant in their ear. Most always think bitcoin is a scam
When the btc halving was close for example, many people became more interested, only because of what they heard they could stand to gain (which may not all be true) if they invest close to a bitcoin halving event, it's the same for people only interested due to 'income doubling schemes', if they lost interest while trying to 'stupidly' double their money, then imo they did not have any real interest in the first place.
4883  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What percentage of tase, is currently loyal to Bitcoin....! on: June 08, 2020, 10:43:15 AM
'my community' of friends interested in bitcoin is not so large, and since my country is a really populous one, I cannot make out the numbers still interested or who've lost interest in the larger picture, so I'll keep it within my contemporaries.
but since the pandemic and the price of Bitcoin did not have a good impact on them, many turned to other internet worlds.
The opposite is the case over here, the pandemic has caused increased interest within my community of friends, we haven't had the opportunity to meet up like you did due to lockdown, but bitcoin has remained a hot topic of discussion between us over our social media handles, from what the effect of the pandemic will be, to the btc halving etc. It's impossible to suddenly become disinterested in bitcoin due to unfavorable prices (as the short term investors might put it) except you only want to get rich ASAP, but if we build a community based on real interest in the network (like mine) then it won't be 'ephemeral, but continuously lasting'.
4884  Economy / Economics / Re: What opportunity costs will governments take. on: June 07, 2020, 04:48:55 PM
At the end of the day, there will be cost to weigh-in, all industries are affected.
Yes definitely every industry is affected, for example in my country, the educational sector is one area that the government promised to support financially, that was before the pandemic, large sums amounting to billions were to be disbursed to improve the educational sector over here which is lacking in necessary amenities.

But with the way things have panned out, I don't think that will be possible anymore, at least not after some years, money will be put in areas in need of urgent rehabilitation, the medical sector is one for example, thus the value of an improved educational sector is one of the things my country will miss out on due to the pandemic.
4885  Economy / Economics / What opportunity costs will governments take. on: June 07, 2020, 09:01:06 AM
It's no longer news that the corona virus pandemic has rocked every national economy, it's lead to inflation, recession, economic meltdown, hunger etc. We have been discussing it's impact (mostly on the economy) for more than two months now and I beg to change the discussion slightly...

As the government seeks a way to reopen their respective nations, I've been thinking what is going to be the opportunity cost to ensure that this 'operation' goes according to plan, bearing in mind that there is little or no funds to be disbursed to all sections of the country. Opportunity cost can be defined thus:
Quote
The New Oxford American Dictionary defines it as "the loss of potential gain from other alternatives when one alternative is chosen."[2] In simple terms, opportunity cost is the benefit not received as a result of not selecting the next best option. Opportunity cost is a key concept in economics, and has been described as expressing "the basic relationship between scarcity and choice".
The EU, World Bank, IMF and other world organizations have come out to aid various countries with loans, grants etc to raise fundings in their respective countries, so what areas of the economy or what sectors in the country do you think requires (and will likely get) more attention and what's going to be the opportunity cost.. Of course with less money, the more there is a need for a scale of preference, you can use your country, major world powers or developed/underdeveloped as a method of categorization; What sectors will likely be top and bottom (opportunity cost) In their scale of preference to propel the economy out of recession.

CoinldolNews newest Spam post in the press board that will be deleted very soon, a temp ban for this user to "chill" imo.
How does it help or contribute to the original post?
I put a direct link to coinldolNews' profile, for those who do not know the user.
4887  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: June 06, 2020, 08:05:44 PM
Overall, I was able to quadruple my money and that too with safe bets on Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
I placed my bet for both Bayern and Dortmund to win, but of course I didn't get as much as you did, because I didn't forget to place my bets, I had them played long before the game started, I might purposely forget to place some bets next week, till the matches start Grin
I have to be honest, if you put Bayern on premier league as all teams exactly the same (and remove the bottom team from premier league) I would say they do not get the title at all,
Since this will never happen, you can't be sure if they will win the league or not if it does. (imo, they will) Bayern can compete with any team in the EPL, the only team prolly better than they are in the EPL at the moment is Liverpool. I know Bayern is better than the other teams in the Bundesliga, but they are also one of the best teams in the world, and the last time they faced an English team (Chelsea) they beat them 3-0.
4888  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Will there be any impact on trading if COVID-19 Vaccine not invented? on: June 06, 2020, 02:10:30 PM
If you have the cure to corona virus, why are you advertising it on a forum, this isn't a hospital or a scientific laboratory, you are definitely living in a country that has a government, you should reach out to your government and propose to them your 'herbal' discovery on how to cure the virus.
I later recovered from Coronavirus within no more than 1 day.
How did you know you contracted the virus, AFAIK it's impossible to be certain without being tested. And you cannot recover from covid-19 in one day. Even if the WHO is to approve a cure, it would not cure patients under 24hrs, malaria patients do not even recover under a day, you definitely didn't have corona virus.
and I am talking about bitcoin trading,
Do not just include 'bitcoin trading' to make it seem fine to post your thread here (trading discussion) this is still spam, and what your post is about is selling a fake or non-existent cure to corona virus and not trading per se
4889  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: June 05, 2020, 08:17:28 PM
Btw, on Sportsbet the odds on Man City vs Arsenal is @1.36 for City, @7.40 for Arsenal, and @5.20 for draw result. Arsenal is rising indeed under Arteta, but not sure they could win over City. The result might be at least draw or win for City.
The odds on sportsbet is not giving any chance to Arsenal to win this game, they see city as clear favorites and I don't know why tbh. City were not in excellent form before the EPL stopped and even if they were, after so long without football, I cannot pick a favorite team to win between this two 'big' teams as this is their first match in two months. @7.40 odds on Arsenal to win is a good bet that I'm seriously considering Grin
4890  Other / Meta / Re: One merit source has just been demoted? on: June 05, 2020, 09:45:29 AM
In the List of open merit source applications, the oldest application is from 03/01/2020, that's six months ago, Theymos prolly doesn't want to add new MS just yet, we would see if he will soon.
A single MS with a 500 sMerits allowance has just disappeared? Interesting!
If that's so, this MS's 500 smerits allowance can be distributed amongst the most active merit sources to boost their own allowance, till theymos maybe picks a new guy, that's a way to beef them up on smerits.
4891  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Patoshi Researcher: 'Satoshi won't use his coins ever’" on: June 05, 2020, 08:15:46 AM
If Satoshi or somebody close to him will ever have access to those keys, we will eventually spend.
If the coins are not going to be moved by satoshi, then I don't think they will be moved by somebody close to him, that leaves a question if there's even actually somebody close to him.

If satoshi had people close to him that could have access to his keys, there should have been a connection to him through them by now imo. I agree with the the researcher that satoshi would not spend his coins, but the reason why is what nobody knows, maybe cause he's dead, destroyed his keys, doesn't want to etc etc.
4892  Economy / Economics / Re: India's new financial package is a national laughing stock - what do you think? on: June 04, 2020, 11:41:30 PM
After 2 days, Alex again came knocking my door. Today I offered him a cup of coffee and after few pleasantries I told him that, I have had a discussion with the local bank manager and arranged for a loan of $100,000 for his pen factory owner. So I asked him to speak to his pen factory owner so that the owner can get the loan from the local bank to resume his production and send the manufactured pen to the market. Once the pens are sold, the owner can then pay the installments of the loan and also pay the salaries of the employees.
The story (situation in India) is not a tragedy Imo, if Alex was given the loan directly, he will sooner or later exhaust it and come asking for another loan, maybe from a different person and in no distant time, Alex will have huge debts to pay, with no work to do to earn money to pay his debts. But if the loan is given to Alex's place of work, then Alex can be placed back on a fixed income, while the company covers the loans; Alex then has his job back and the company is also up and running.

So if this is the idea the government is coming up with in India, then it's not a bad one. If this funds are distributed individually, the economy will likely not recover at a fast pace, but if loans are granted to small and large scale businesses, factories, companies etc to start business as usual, people will have their jobs back, their employers will start making money and there will be cash flow into the economy.
4893  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Current US Economic Catastrophe Caused by Anti-Racism Movement has Impact on BTC on: June 04, 2020, 10:18:52 PM
I have also checked on George Floyd's occupation before he died, none says he was an NBA player, George worked as a security guard in a nightclub, though after the breakout of the pandemic, he was laid off: https://www.vantunews.com/wiki/biography-george-floyd I think op made a mistake or got a wrong information.
USA is facing the biggest economy catastrophe in history as a result of this movement and the coronavirus epidemic. It is conceivable we will see the impact in the Crypto market in the next few months, a terrible catastrophe is approaching.
The looting going on is worsening the economy of the US that is already not in a good shape after months of covid-19 pandemic, but at that it has no impact on the crypto market. Many of us wrongly believe that a bad economy means well for bitcoin and cryptocurrency, but it doesn't, when the economy is good, people will have their jobs and make money, and it's that money they will use to buy bitcoins; people will also be able to restart their businesses and continue accepting bitcoins for payment etc etc, that is more good than harm and of course more adoption.
4894  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: June 04, 2020, 09:36:31 PM
agree, i would add that i do not like his way of couching, could not say that he is not a great coach, but football that he exercise is not football that i like to watch, it is too boring, i remember him at Inter Milan, when they won CL in 2010, it was such a boring football with Milito ahead, just playing on contra attacks, after that other teams recognized that play style, and do not think that he will won much in the future
Jose's style is different and I can even call it unattractive, many football fans love pep Guardiola cause of how he builds his teams around the passing game, playing possession football, dominating the opponent and winning trophies, Mourinho wins trophies, even as many as pep, but he does so with a different style. I remember Mou at Madrid, he changed Madrid into something else, they no longer played like footballers, but warriors Grin, especially in the El classico and they still lost most of the time.

Spurs sacked poch and employed Mou because the white hart lane faithfuls need to start seeing their team win trophies, and imo there may be no man better for the job than Mou, but I fear his tactics are outdated and he may not be able to achieve the success they want him to.
4895  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 04, 2020, 07:21:08 PM
supposedly Timo Werner changes for 60mio from reb-bull leipzig to england to fc chelsea  Shocked
Chelsea fans will be praying that Timo Werner signs for them, the only person connected to Chelsea that would not want it to happen is prolly Tammy Abraham Grin it'll automatically make him a back up striker.

Frank Lampard and Chelsea have been linked to good and young players lately, I'd love to see few of them sign for the blues as Franky tries to build something new at the club, around young players aged 25 and below.
4896  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Binance Community Vote 9th Round [MDT vs TT] on: June 04, 2020, 08:19:15 AM
It's hard to pick between TT or MDT, both projects are not bad, if it was possible to vote for the two coins to get listed, then i would do so, it's just not possible as per the rules; so I just had to go with Thunder token and I hope they win this vote and get listed on Binance.
I'd like it better if projects works to get listed on top exchanges, not through some free voting, the last projects that win binance vote did nothing new, instead they lose value..
It is not because they got listed on Binance through community votes that made them depreciate in value (there are many other reasons for that). Binance are using this method just to get the community's popular opinion on a coin, the community would not vote for a project that is not good, bad projects wouldn't even vie for a spot to get listed.
4897  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "My macro solution is to exit the economy as a whole [...] and buy bitcoin" on: June 04, 2020, 04:05:33 AM
Also, last I got news of was that the police that was involved in the accident is still not fired, not yet in jail but rather still continuing to serve his duty?
The news you got is incorrect, not only that the officer Derek Chauvin who pinned Floyd down with his knee has been fired, also the other three officers on the scene, two of whom held him down have all been fired. While the main culprit has been charged for murder, the other officers await their charges, check this source: https://m.startribune.com/a-deeper-look-at-the-four-officers-fired-after-george-floyd-death/570885592/
What he said: "We live in a system that will not allow us to thrive. My macro solution for this problem for everyone is to opt out and exit the economy as a whole, and the way that we do that is by buying bitcoin".
Imo he did not mean to say Americans should do exactly this, since Floyd's death and protest is a 'hot' topic, he seized the opportunity to popularize bitcoin, cause it's impossible for citizens to do without (opt out of) the 'economy' which represents the national resources, markets, small and large businesses etc, without all this, we will just buy and hold bitcoins and have nothing to do with it.
4898  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My 1000th post on this forum! Things I have learnt :) on: June 03, 2020, 06:22:15 PM
Also I have learnt that it's important that you respect your seniors here (senior as in the more established members) because they have years of experience here. Forum is no one's monopoly, but they have earnt surely trust and credibility for that respect!
Respect is not expected on an online forum, and definitely not on bitcointalk. Respect is more suited in homes or schools or in more real life situations. I understand your point, but respect isn't the word to use, you can admire users who have achieved higher ranks than you and also seek help from them, but I'll not say respect, that's the reason some users use the word "sir" which I personally consider absurd.
Stay away from the tempting dramas happening all the time in the forum. Don't comment and take anyone's side. But don't fear to call a scammer a scammer. Politely though Cheesy
You can 'ignore' the reputation section if you want to stay away from drama on the forum, but it's also fine if you wish to get involved with your own accurate or correct take/comment on them.
4899  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Chance to earn Merits for newbies on: June 03, 2020, 08:43:28 AM
Indeed. Who cheated this merit giveaway, should be reported and excluded from participation.
IIRC when @Daniel91 started two merit giveaway threads in this board (i also merited some of the applicants) the participation percentage was very low, only a fistful of newbies were interested in submitting links to their good posts.

And in this giveaway also, it's the same case. Imo, no one is going to cheat, cheating isn't the problem, as you can see for yourself just how many Jr members-newbies have participated thus far. @op, since you want to give out 25 merits, and you've sent out 12, you can go to other threads/topics; you will see quality posts to merit.
4900  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 02, 2020, 11:00:00 PM
So to say that a move from Leicester to Chelsea would be a good move to a bigger club for a player may not be true anymore, maybe the payday could be higher I am not sure but thats about it, when you look at the success part of it, both teams are equal in my eye, at least for now until there is some change.
Chelsea is a big club, Leicester City is not. It's impossible to put the both clubs in the same level, Chelsea are miles ahead of Leicester, both in terms of club success, club revenues, performances in Europe, the quality of players they can attract etc.

I know Leicester had a dream 2015-2016 season and are currently doing well this season, but when you list out Chelsea's success in the last decade or more, including their famous Uefa champions league triumph, it's impossible to equate the two teams. Even when Leicester won the league in 2016, their best player Ngolo Kante couldn't resist a move to Chelsea, he left the club and signed for the blues. A move from Leicester to Chelsea is a move to a bigger club surely, anyday, anytime.
