4881  Other / Off-topic / Re: how to know whether email i receive is from? on: January 21, 2016, 07:21:38 AM

I received an email from someone and he knows about me personally and that he calls me by the name my friends call me. I'm not sure ho to track it but how do i know his location?
if he is using a vpn, how do i know if he is using vpn?

like chefkoch is saying, there are companies specialised in making lists of names and emails... They're pretty good to, so they can actually make you doubt the fact that they're spamming.

If you really want to investigate, look at the full headers of the email, look at "Received: from". At least you'll know the ip address of the mailserver that sent the email... You can plug it in into a geolocator and look at where the originating server was.

Offcourse, it's perfectly possible for somebody from the UK to be using a mailserver in china, but you'll never know... So it's basically impossible to tell where the sender is located (unless he's a incompetent spammer and is using his home PC to send out these mails... But those chances are really slim)

All in all, it's probably just best to either ignore the mail, or reply and ask where you know this person from. It's easy to know if their reply is bogus or not...

seen like from another city in our country.
if he is using just his home pc but using vpn, will i still know where his location is base on the full headers of the email?

Well... The headers show which server sent the mail and which server received it.
If, for example, he is using gmail and the mail was sent to your hotmail account, the headers will show google's ip as "received from", and microsoft's ip as "received by". There is no way of getting the individual's ip anyways...

But, like i said, if he's running an email server from his own private residence (very small chance, usually people use a mail service, or rent a VPN or dedicated box to send mails from), his private ip will show up, unless this server is using a VPN... In that case it's the VPN server's ip you'll find in the mail headers...

If there was something illegal in this mail, you can, however, look at the "received from" header, and contact the organisation that owns this ip address... Foreward them the email and tell them that one of their users sent you something illegal.
Normally the organisation that owns the mailserver should have logs showing the ip address of the individual user (unless he only contacted the mailserver over VPN).

Chances are slim that a company like google will actually give you the IP address of one of their users, i think you'll have to go trough law enforcement. They'll probably have to get a warrant, and then ask for the ip address of the sender...

If he only used a VPN, you can still contact the VPN provider, but most of them have a "no logs" policy, so it's a longshot.

In my country, you have a mixture: some ATM's only accept 4 digit pins, while others have more numbers (since my own bankcard only has 4 digits, i have never tried the limits, but it seems like 6 or 8 numbers are defenately possible).
Hopefully, you can find an ATM to accept your card in your neighborhood.
4885  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if there is nomore coins to mine? on: January 20, 2016, 09:15:44 AM
By the way, there are many altcoins which are pre-mined. Nobody needs to mine it they are already in the market.

Welllllllll.... If nobody is mining blocks, no transactions will be included, no confirmations, nothing... So even for pre-mined altcoins, mining is necessary.

Pre-mining is usually just a trick to cash out and scam the community (there might be exeptions to this rule)

I would suggest resynchronise your wallet. Then you will know whats going on.
Clear view after.

The OP seems to be using blockchain... Altough it's solid advice to go for a desktop wallet, an online wallet cannot be resync'ed...
4887  Other / Off-topic / Re: I have only 1 ethernet port, Is there a way to multiply it? on: January 19, 2016, 03:06:56 PM
Hello everyone,

You can understand from the title that I have no technical details about this.

In where I live I have only one ethernet line. That is regulated by the facility I'm living in. I am using it for my main computer and use hotspot for my other devices. I do not know if they can block my access if I try to multiply it using a switch.

What do you guys think?

depends on the rest of the setup... If you're behind a router that has it's own DHCP server, you can usually just install a switch. If not, a router has to be used, the WAN port connected to your ethernet cable, the LAN ports for your internal network. Offcourse, it has to be setup correctly.

When you connect your pc with the ehternet outlet, does your current ip address start with 192.168.x.x or 10.0.x.x? In that case, you're probably behind a router, and you can probably just use a switch...

Please notice the word PROBABLY. The person that has setup your network might have used things like MAC address filtering, static ip's only,... in this case you'll still have to use a router instead of a switch
4888  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need help!! on: January 19, 2016, 03:03:00 PM
basically, just look at this page:

https://blockchain.info/address/1CqYkCjZThQotjXn1h7yVVCCxDt7nGdLvF

the last input you got was from BTCDoubleX.com it already has 42 confirmations, so it's usable. (Look out with BTC doublers, they're almost 100% of the time cataloged as a ponzi/scam, meaning that sooner or later they'll stop paying and run with your money)
As for now, this address holds 0.01180028 which can be spent (a bit less, because you'll have to pay some miner fee in order to get your transaction included in a block)

incoming or outgoing transactions that are not shown on this page, were not included in a block, so they cannot be used.
4889  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need help!! on: January 19, 2016, 01:58:01 PM
how can I see All incoming transactions that are confirmed are currently spendable. All unconfirmed/rejected/pruned transactions are not spendable.

Plz in details i am newbie.

which wallet are you using? if it's blockchain, you should only have 1 address, can you post this addresess? In case you're using a desktop wallet (core, multibit, electrum,...) you'll have multiple addresses. can you post the address you were using?
4890  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need help!! on: January 19, 2016, 12:28:07 PM
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1123003.0

apparently, if the sender keeps rebroadcasting this transaction, it will eventually be picked up and included/confirmed.
If not, the sender will be able to make a new transaction with these inputs as soon as the network forgets about this tx

if you keep on having problems, you can always ask shorena, he/she is an expert in this stuff Smiley
I already talked to shorena about this previously.
Here- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1332275.msg13594174#msg13594174

The transaction "a" was from a shitty service but they might be rebroadcasting it so I got that transaction. 2 others "b","c" were sent from me to others and I didn't did any type of broadcasting. so the 2 transaction amount must have come back to me.

So I think my wallet address came alive now or should I wait?? As previously shorena asked me to stop the transaction from my wallet address as it may depend on those unconfirmed address.
So now can I use it or not??

the 3 transactions you mention are pruned from blockchain's database, so i cannot see them, i have no idear if they're incoming or outgoing, what their inputs or output are,...  i tried a couple other explorers but couldn't find them either...

It's basically quite simple, just look at your own account on blockchain.info. All incoming transactions that are confirmed are currently spendable. All unconfirmed/rejected/pruned transactions are not spendable.

indeed... you should move this to the scam accusation AND post the id of the PM so it can be verified by Badbear/Theymos in case that's needed...

You're correct about the possibility of a sold account:

4894  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where do you get your bitcoin vanity addresses? on: January 15, 2016, 01:41:59 PM
you can also generate a private key yourself using vanitygen: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=25804.0
keep in mind youll have to open the program from the command line, you can't just double click it from the file explorer.
just import the privkey to your wallet once its 'generated.'

Completely correct... Just a quick addition: try to use oclvanitygen, it uses your GPU and is a lot faster Wink
4895  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if there is nomore coins to mine? on: January 14, 2016, 02:41:15 PM
So I was watching videos on youtube and I came across to a video rearding the facts about bitcoin. I saw there that every halving the reward block is halve right? And so the rewards that the miner will get will decreased. My question i what will happen to the miners if tere will be no more coins to mine? Since there is only a limit on how many bitcokns can be produced, a time will vome that minin will put on stop. What will happen to the bitcoin price if then?

The miners still get the fees, so hopefully by then, the fees should be worth enough to make mining profitable
If the fees aren't enough for mining to be profitable, some miners will stop mining, raising the amount of blocks found by the leftover miners... that way the leftover miners find more blocks => more fees => profit Smiley
4896  Economy / Services / Re: Could you guys help me with cost of starting couple bitcoin related websites? on: January 14, 2016, 10:21:11 AM

I tought faucet could be much less with api of other websites (like faucetfly or similar)

Also there is websites like coinrotator and [Suspicious link removed] and all to create a rotator.

I am saying this because I can't even make with these , but you can get your job estimate lower if you use these to make one.

Well... A faucet needs to pay BTC to it's visitors... You either do this by hand, you install bitcoind on your server and use JSON-RPC or you use an API and pay your visitors from a blockchain account (other online services might offer a payment API to).
If you chose a manual payment option, it'll take you a lot of time to manually do all your payments, but the faucet script will be a lot cheaper.

If you use a website to create your rototator, your rotator is no longer "from scratch", and you don't need a scripter anyways... Depending on the creator service, the rotator might be hosted with them, or you might get some php scripts for you to install on your server (basically any webhost can help you with the installation).
4897  Economy / Services / Re: Could you guys help me with cost of starting couple bitcoin related websites? on: January 14, 2016, 09:41:38 AM
An answer to your last situation... disclaimer: this is not a quote, just a basic guess based on how much time i guess i would need to make a project like this... If i ever make you a quote, prices might vary (a lot) from the prices i indicate here after i did a full study on the problem...

Also, this is always just the price i guessed for designing a proper relational database and the scripting for the backend... The design is a completely different thing which i know nothing about.

  • A simple basic faucet will cost a lot less... it's basically a decent, normalised mysql database witch keeps track of btc adresses ip's, claims and payouts... combined with a simple script to make a claim (and check some basic stuff like time between claims and proxy usage)... combined with a simple shell script from the cronjob to make daily payouts (using JSON-RPC with a local wallet, or using an API... for example blockchains)... I guesstimate it would cost around $200-$250 without a design
  • basic preev.com (only USD-BTC) .... Just a frontend for an API... for example bitcoinaverage.com, around $100 without design
  • a rotator: see my previous post in this thread
4898  Economy / Goods / Re: WTS lot (3) USB KEYLOGGER Hardware Employee Monitoring Devices on: January 14, 2016, 08:01:18 AM
Just a quick question: on bitify you ask $125/piece, and on the same page you tell the people the retail price is $50-$60. Why are they more expensive second hand than when you buy them directly from the producer?
Am i missing something here?
4899  Economy / Services / Re: Could you guys help me with cost of starting couple bitcoin related websites? on: January 13, 2016, 12:28:17 PM
I usually ask around $30/hour for custom coding (php/mysql).

At first glance, i guess:
freebitco.in would cost at least $1000-$1500
auto-escrow site: no idear, it would depend on the technical specs
gambling site: no idear, not a gambler myself, so it would depend on the tech specs
price showing site: using an API from an existing website, it would cost $100-$150
faucet rotator (bitcoinfaucetrotator.com is down), if this is just a list of faucets in a frame, it would probably take 2-3 hours ($60-$90)
shopping site: depending if it's from scratch, or can be based on an open source shop, it will still need at least 10 hours to make some plugins and stuff

This is just a quick guess, not even an estimate... I guess the price would be around these numbers for the scripting, but can be influenced by a lot of factors (tech specs, open source code reuse,...)... Add some more money for the design tough!
4900  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Help me find a close name on: January 13, 2016, 10:38:52 AM

I love the name BitshireHashaway here , he lost his account in a hack and hacker wanted coins to return the account back and he just let the account go , I contacted both him and hacker and hacker is nonresponsive now.

So I want to find a name related to berkshire hathaway in a bitcoin manner just like bitshirehashaway .

Prize is my full on love and respect Cheesy and this account if you want it?
You're speaking about a bitcointalk forum account, right?
Aren't you able to recover your hacked account? It should work in case you staked an address in an old post... Theymos (and BadBear) accept password reset questions in a very specific format (i'm to lazy to use the search function right now, but it should be easily findable).
