4881  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Too Many Altcoins! on: July 30, 2020, 10:03:01 AM
Do you ever wonder why there are many altcoins today? I was just thinking that since the main objective of cryptocurrency is to ease payment. Why would people create so much altcoins when people can only use bitcoin as a payment gateway? Are the founders of every altcoins creating their token for money?
That's one reason, other are:

1. they want to challenge bitcoin's dominance
2. supposedly offer more privacy
3. solve real life problems in different industries/sectors
4. to scam people

And there could be more, but that's on top of my mind right now.

4883  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitfinex hacks BTC are on the moved on: July 29, 2020, 10:26:09 AM
I'll be surprised if they don't mix it before taking it to some exchange wallet.
Lots of options for them to hide, mixer is one of them. They have learned from past hacks as well specially those that are being traced because they just sent it to an exchange. And mixers is not that bad, it is being used to hide our privacy, but the caveat is that criminals can also used it to hide their footprints.
4884  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does Name really matter in crypto? on: July 28, 2020, 10:22:29 PM
Please there's something I really want to understand about this crypto industry because at times as a newbie in this cryptocurrency industry you might get this wrong by making more mistakes in crypto. Does crypto name really matter before it become successful?
I don't understand what you mean? Crypto name? First, those crypto that are making good gains or have been in the market for too long obviously established their name already. Ethereum for example, but for those new projects that are popping out, they need to build their reputation first. So for newbies, like you, it's better to invest on altcoin that is in the top 10-20 because they've been confirmed by the community and they are already successful in the crypto space.
4885  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Gervonta Davis vs Leo Santa Cruz on: July 28, 2020, 09:30:12 PM

And even if Leo has the height and reach advantage, he can't utilized it against a fast and very technical fighter like Davis, and the camp of Davis knows this, so the bigger guy here is Davis itself. I would like to see Davis fight Haney first, Haney have been calling Davis for sometime now, GERVONTA DAVIS RESPONDS TO DEVIN HANEY, RYAN GARCIA CALLING HIM OUT AND TERENCE CRAWFORD'S WARNING.

Leo Sta Cruz could be the spoiler if he beats Davis, there are mega fights ready for Davis against Haney and Garcia and the Golden Boy promotions are also cooking the Davis Garcia fight but it will not happen if Sta Cruz beat Davis, so there are so many things at stake for Davis for  this fight.
Big "IF", on the contrary I believed that Davis will show his best here after his so-so performance against Gamboa. He will show us explosiveness, then fight on the distance, the whole package, so I don't think that Leo can handle all of that. Beside, Leo doesn't have the hands to knock out his opponents, and that's they only way he can win and derail Davis plans to fight other top boxers in 130-135 division.
4886  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are DeFi projects next on SEC's watchlist? on: July 28, 2020, 09:05:52 PM
I'm sure that if they found out that those DeFi are in violation of ther policies, for sure that they are going to be the next target, and maybe on their crosshair already. Maybe one day we will here DeFi's being sued by them, just like what they did on some IEO's and ICO's. Big money is flowing on DeFI's millions if not billions already and this is enough for SEC to take a closer look in the future.
What's wrong on defi? I think ICOs that generate funds are more prone to sec warning, but I dont see any way they could find reason to sue defi projects, they are not running any form of crowdfunding ( new defi's) on centralized platform and mostly uses dex which are decentralized.

Cause some projects are came from ICO without any affiliation to defi, then suddenly becomes a defi type of blockchain which is very suspicious. Those projects can be targeted but not all defi hosted an ICO that have some sort of violations.

This is the problem with SEC. They thought everything is under their control. One day they will be the reason why the market for crypto will crash. Because of their tight grip on it.
Maybe the keyword here is "swap contracts", if SEC deems that most Defi are operating under the pretense, then they are going to stop it just like what they did against Abra. What is Defi's poster boy right now? It's MakerDao, in which the model are very similar or mirrors share buybacks. They may have camouflage it as through auctions and burn tokens. But if SEC finds a slight evidence that this is swap contracts then I expect the unexpected for the Defi hype. Of course, it's their job, this is not about control. But I don't think that they are the reason that crypto market will crash, that's an exaggeration.

4888  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING ]: Fury vs Wilder III in Las Vegas on 18th July 2020 !!! on: July 27, 2020, 10:49:21 PM
Regardless of where the fight takes place do you think it will be with a limited audience running in to a few hundred in the stadium?
If the fight happens when we are still in the pandemic? Yes, it will be only for limited audience.

I think it will be too soon for audiences to return in large numbers so television companies will make a huge profit when they sell the fight on a Pay Per View basis.
PPV will be the only options for them to make profits, if people are willing to pay $100 to even $1000 for a live gate, if if that choice is not open for the public, then obviously, PPV will generate enough money to make them decent profits.
4889  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stay away from this kind of giveaway!! Scam alert!! on: July 27, 2020, 10:11:46 PM
Education is the key weapon. We need to train ourselves to spot and this kind of fake giveaways being promoted not only in Youtube, but in other social medias like Twitter and Telegram. And to help, we should report this to Youtube as well to made them aware and hope that they are going to respond by taking down that channel. 4890  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is $10,000 on: July 27, 2020, 09:38:14 PM
Although bitcoin has increased but for altcoin there is still a lot of red that means that the bullrun has not completely happened so what is said @nelson4lov if this pump becomes a dump there could be bloodshed against altcoin because it cannot guarantee this increase like it is back again.
To be sure with the increase in bitcoin now that has reached $10.770 can be further increased and altcoin will follow suit.
Looks like you are new to the cryptocurrency market, there is nothing surprising to see that the alt coin market is going down as the market always goes down when the bitcoin market rallies and it is not that surprising as the investors will sell of their alts to get into the bitcoin market if there is a rally and hopefully if it is the rally we are waiting for the alts is going down because of that.
I do agree, not new in the market and I have seen this kind of movements/shifts and it's obvious that investors are moving to btc from alts, specially when they see that there is already a big movement coming. Ethereum is doing good, but it seems it has face a big stumbling block right now, face a resistance wall, investors then move to btc to push to $10,800 now with almost 10% increase in the last 24 hours.
4891  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Scammers are back with another trick. Be alert!!! on: July 27, 2020, 12:40:06 PM
Thanks for giving us a fair warning, already reported this scam attempts. Let's see how long will Youtube going to take it down. They're already in the hot waters lately and I do hope that they remove it before we hear some newbie complaining around that they got scam by this.
4892  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING] efialtis impersonator on Telegram on: July 27, 2020, 11:23:09 AM
They say that "impersonation is a form of flattery", but not this time though. Damn, those scammers are really monitoring this community and since as of late @efialtis has getting a lot of attention, they see this opportunity to take advantage of the situation and try to scam someone. Good thing that no one falls for it and thanks to @D__R2 for making everyone aware.

4894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Steve Wozniak Sues YouTube Over Twitter-Like Bitcoin Scam on: July 27, 2020, 10:24:48 AM
Giveaway ads on YouTube has not stopped and people are still fallen for it. This mean one thing, YouTube don't review well the ads before it is being accepted. It is a bad news for YouTube because they are being careless and make people lose money recklessly. Who would have thought ads on YouTube are published by scammers.
Yeah, notice that scammers shift to getting ads as well on Youtube, it's not that they are careless, it seems that they are really turning their backs and as if allowing these scammers to get into their platform to victimized many more victims. If there is another competition, I'm sure that Youtube will going to react fast and swift. But since there are none, they don't give a shit and let these criminals enjoy and have fun cashing their loot.

4895  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Gervonta Davis vs Leo Santa Cruz on: July 26, 2020, 11:26:41 PM
@bisdak40 - that's strange bro, there are a lot of questions after the fight, what is Leo wins, what belt is he going to defend? Will Davis will go up in weight or remain at 130?

I think this fight is some sort of a tune up for Davis bro, to keep him busy while waiting for this pandemic to be over. No offense to Leo's fans here but for him to win this fight is close to impossible. He maybe a volume puncher but that would change once he will be hit by those power punches of Davis and take the confidence off him. After this fight, Davis will vacate the 130 as the money fight for him is as Lightweight division. Ryan Garcia, Loma and even Linarez would be next in line for him.

Yes, that's one possibility, and I think this is a good cherry pick fight for Davis and they know that they can win this. Leo's has a good record a champion, so in paper looks like the fight is even and close. But Davis is one level high as compare to Leo. So if he wins, he will gonna call Loma or Ryan Garcia or Haney, hehehe.
4896  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: next target of ethereum on: July 26, 2020, 10:52:26 PM
Currently settled to $310 today, not that bad. We also have to look at how much Eth is being locked in Defi, its been hitting around $4-$5 billion, give and take and it seems Eth is following that growth as well. I like the analysis, $317 should be next target, forgot about $400 for now. There are going to be a lot of resistance moving forward for Eth, but $317-$360 will be a great achievement if the price will go and hover around that levels.
4897  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Prometei: New cryptojacking botnet on: July 26, 2020, 10:27:56 PM
This is a big cause of concern
Quote
Prometei is unlike most mining botnets. Apart from organizing the tools by their purpose in the attack, it also features anti-detection and analysis evasion attributes.

You cannot fix something that you are not aware of working inside of your computer if you cannot trace it in your task manager then you need another tool to trace this botnet and up to date malware removal could trace this and remove there is another form of ransomware now that making around it's called Zida it's old but making a comeback now.

Yes, it is very hard for a user to trace if his system is under attack by this cryptojacking because there is no no way for you to find it out. That's why it still boils down as to how a user is educated to this kind of attacks. No sign but your machine is somewhat lagging or very slow or it is heating? Then for sure something is wrong and it could be this cryptojacking.
4898  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is $10,000 on: July 26, 2020, 07:02:39 PM
It seems that bitcoin will reach $12k very soon. Now, crypto market is green and bitcoin is leading the market. It is pumping continuously and many more are waiting to arrive. Let's see what happens in next.
Not so fast, there are a lot resistance that we need to go through before we can get to $12k. Right after reaching $10k, it is slowly going down. But it is good to see that we suddenly reach it again after months of no movement, but I wouldn't jump into conclusion that this is the start of a bull run after the block halvening. And for those who just woke up on the other parts of the globe, this is really a thing to behold, but don't get enthusiastic, we will have if this is going to be just short term runs.
4899  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: paper wallet how to on: July 26, 2020, 06:47:38 PM
hello and thanks for helping a newbie.

i am wanting to use a paper wallet to buy and spend bitcoins.

i am having a hard time trying to find good guides for this.

please help

thanks much,
david
If you wanted to use paper wallet to buy and spend bitcoin then it is not for you. If you create a paper wallet it will only have one private key and a single address. So if will defeat the purpose of having one if you are going to spend it right away. So it is meant for storing bitcoin for long term holding. I suggest you look at a better wallet for your purpose, like Electrum. And just remember to always back up your private key and your seed phrase.

Let us all put our views here. The votes give a big indication of what the general consensus is towards the fighters is but there is more to this thread than just the votes in the poll.

This fight is very popular, if we close the thread, we won't be able to discuss the updates of this fight.
Yes, keep this thread open because there are a lot of changes in the fight schedule, so at least someone is updating us all whether it could be in December in US or somewhere else. I read that Australia is being look at another location but I doubt that it will go there because of the COVID-19. And it is better that this happen in US soil, as both of them have a huge following in the States.
