There's not even a working prototype, WTF?
4882  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for 110 BTC for AVALON 85 Gh/s batch 3, will share profit of one month. on: March 27, 2013, 11:50:28 PM
What a joke. It's really like a gold rush out there. Some will be caught with their pants off
4883  Economy / Economics / Re: Can some one share his feelings after buying 1k BTC today? on: March 27, 2013, 10:47:21 PM
Bitcoin is way undervaluated. Probably we will have corrections and a lot of dips but it's natural for a such low market cap.

My recommendation is just look at it as a long term store of wealth and never sell/panic.

People saying this is a bubble are just plain wrong, they want you to panic sell so they can buy your "cheap" Bitcoins, all the bears on these forums want the same, they want your bitcoins so be aware.

Just buy and HOLD.

I think I have the right partner for my Avalon Wink

I would add something: just invest what you can afford to loose. That way you will able to have a clear mind while btc/fiat fluctuates, and stick to your strategy. Mine is buy/mine and HOLD 50%/exchange 50% for goods and services to support btc economy. But I'd avoid whenever possible to exchange btc for fiat .

And I would not forget that Bitcoin is a smart and sound currency, and a very interesting bet - but a bet nonetheless.

Everyone knows that BTCs will be worth 100,000 or 1,000,000 each at some point... just a matter of time...

I would just split them and call BTC the current micro or nano BTC... just to make the process faster... psychologically, 1 coin cannot be worth millions, so SPLIT IT!

I have thought about it quite a lot and I think you are right.

Average person is not ready to pay 0,00047954 BTC for anything. Yet if it was 479,54 BTC I think everybody (non-techies) would understand it.
The split in a way of 1:1'000'000 would be reasonable.

Soon Bitcoin-QT my have uBTC by default, and newcomers may be trading fiat for uBT at MtGox
4884  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: GROUP BUY - Shared pool for Avalon 3rd batch pre-order on: March 27, 2013, 10:36:49 PM

Noo missed it.. Oh well. Thanks man all the best

Yeah, new user with random nick investing...

Finlof: please edit OP stating in bold that Avalons are out of stock and you are not accepting any more funds
4885  Other / Off-topic / Re: chat with a scammer on: March 27, 2013, 08:35:22 PM
Don't you ever feel bad for the people you scam? Don't you feel their pain when you imagine them realizing you have stolen their hard earned money? Do you even know what empathy is?

Freakin sociopaths...
4886  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: PSA about Butterfly Labs what to say? on: March 27, 2013, 08:18:54 PM
Warning: BFL hasn't even produced a prototype in 7 months. It Could be a scam!

I think not even having a working prototype is more indicative of how risky this is, 'failed to deliver' is true but a not as immediately appararent. IMHO

I agree with that.
4887  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: (OBJETIVO CONSEGUIDO) - Asociarse para AVALON ASICs (batch #3) - MADRID on: March 27, 2013, 08:03:24 PM
El batch #3 de AVALON está agotado. Yo os recomiendo ir comprando bitcoins para cuando vuelva a presentarse otra oportunidad de estas. Descuidad, las habrá.
4888  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Avalon ASIC Batch #2 Income Sharing on: March 27, 2013, 07:09:57 PM

  • Profitability decline per year: I would suggest to insert 0.3 or lower (difficulty will raise fast. For my own calculations I usually use 0.1)

I think this is reverse. 0.3 means in next year you are expected to earn 30% less. So, 0.1 means 10% less (i.e., you retain income level at 90% of first year). So, to be pessimistic, put in higher value.

No, it does not work like that. Play with that variable in http://www.bitcoinx.com/profit/ and you will see
4889  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC pay back on: March 27, 2013, 03:33:37 PM
you guys are also assuming profitability based on current prices. If indeed we are in a huge btc bubble and it pops...avy may very well end up making not much / day. Meaning that .5BTC could be nearly worthless =( and that would suck.

Well, I bought my Avalon in BTC, and I want a ROI in BTC. I don't give a damn about btc/fiat exchange rate.
4890  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC pay back on: March 27, 2013, 02:33:00 PM
When we ordered our Batch 1 Avalon in September, we started from an ROI of more than 6 months, as we had to accept that BFL and BAsic will be long on the market. And now here you talking about a risk if the ROI could be 1-3 months! Hello people!  Roll Eyes

Well, BFL could also hit the market in the meanwhile. But I surely doubt it Wink
4891  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC pay back on: March 27, 2013, 02:05:45 PM
The thing is that is very difficult to make long-term projections on hashrate, this is why an estimatetion of "3 months for ROI" doesn't sounds that good in bitcoin world nowadays, while in the "fiat" world a 3 months ROI is an increadible deal.

While you wait for batch #3, 2.5 months can pass. 3 months from that other players could be adding THs to the network, and difficulty could just skyrocket.

Paying 20BTC for a 65GHs machine you will receive in 2.5 months or less is almost a no-brainer. Paying 75BTC is risky if you are in only for the profits, it's very likely that you will profit much more HOLDING those bitcoins.

4892  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Batch #1 Ships on: March 27, 2013, 01:58:08 PM
got my unit yesterday, customs was 220 euros something (I paid DHL to handel it).

That is amazing unit! Thank you Avalon team! Can't wait to order 4th module Smiley

Can you say if it was with or without PSU and Country of delivery? Just thinking about changing my order and remove PSU, but I have the impressione that in Europe there is no much trouble in customs with PSUs...

was there even possibility to order batch 1 without PSU ?

anyway: with psu, estonia, no trouble at customs at all.

Useful info, that is another customer from a country member of European Union that had no problems with PSU and customs.

Good to know.
4893  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: Comisión de MtGox on: March 27, 2013, 01:56:19 PM

Exactamente. Yo no asistí porque me dan MUCHA grima. Pero eso es una postura práctica y política puramente personal.

Country of delivery = country of origin ?

I mean the country where he received the unit. Country of origin = China.
4896  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [To Theymos and Mods] An honest concern (all trolling aside) on: March 27, 2013, 01:49:35 PM
I personally agree that a scammer tag is premature, but I think that banning their ads in this forum would be appropriate - at least until they start shipping. I mean, they are pumping in preorders at a crazy rate, we all know that, and a lot of newbies are sucked in by their aggressive advertising strategy. They don't even have a working prototype after months of preorders.

We all know this is a shame (or worst).
4897  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BOUNTY: 10+BTC] Open Source (CC) Paper Wallet Kit for safe offline coin storage on: March 27, 2013, 01:41:20 PM
Thank you OP, amazing initiative. Because of this and the dev's public debates is why we love bitcointalk, apart from bear/bulls endless wars on speculation subforums, and of cours Avalon group buys Wink
4898  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who ordered batch #3 Avalon ? on: March 27, 2013, 01:15:52 PM
I'm i wrong in math or batch #3 is not going to return the investment?
According to this post
http://organofcorti.blogspot.com/2013/03/912-asic-choices-asic-earnings-update.html
chart named "Cumulative BTC earnings" red line starting in june,
65Gh Avalon will earn just around 30 BTC in whole month june. Next month will be much harder, maybe just 15 BTC and so on..., it might be really hard to produce 75B back.

It is an estimation - certainly a good back of the envelop calculation, but lot of assumptions. It is upto you how you take those assumptions.

Its not all about roi, think about there will only ever be 21m btc,

I think as it like this,

Lets say there will ever be 21m kg of gold, now you can mine 1kg of gold every day you wouldn,t care about the fiat price against it becourse you know in the end everybody wants your kg of gold.

Well, it's also true that you just spent 76 kg of gold in purchasing a 65GHs Avalon Wink
4899  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [To Theymos and Mods] An honest concern (all trolling aside) on: March 27, 2013, 12:58:14 PM
What is their "current deadline"?
Isn't that always "next month"? At least it is since last September...

Yeah, preorder now and get your units sometime in June, or maybe sooner... That's have been their "preorder" schedule since the end of January.
4900  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BitSyncom: Is it possible to make changes to an order (yes/no PSU, # of modules) on: March 27, 2013, 12:14:25 PM
Guys, commons sense dictates that for this matter we should be using tickets. There's still time till the units will be shipped, just let's try to use appropiate channels for communications.
why not both? Cheesy

Because it is not an urgent matter, and you're writing to the direct email of one of the very few people that are running this operation, making him to loose time reading/processing a silly and non-urgent request that can be solved using the appropiate channel: tickets.

Regarding item 1 - I don't think the US is in the list.  Jeff Garzik received his miner a day earlier than was expected (1/31) --- so I don't think it was hung up in some bureaucratic black hole in customs.   My guess is this is not for the U.S. and Russia, but South America, Europe ,Asia and the Middle East that have the customs issues... but again... pure speculation until we hear from the horses mouth.

I'm in European Union and I've received a couple of times hard disks together with his power unit (from outside EU), and I never had any problem. Those hard disks came from the USA. On the contrary, I've sent those same hard disks to Argentina and I had a shitload of problems with customs. In fact, they never got out of customs BECAUSE of the psu of the hard disks, and I had to send new hard disks WITHOUT a PSU for them to get through Argentinian customs.

Then, I'm reading about EU customers receiving their batch 1 unit with PSU with no problems at all. But again, this is really a small sample to make any assumptions, it's just my personal experience + a few EU customers of Avalone.
