4881  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you fear the president of your country, one day, making Crypto illegal ? on: November 15, 2020, 05:30:20 PM
To be frank, I once had this palpable fear around the time the Chinese government banned crypto activities in China, and I was like what if that happened in my country? But great a thing the ban didn't come, following the Chinese ban. That would've dislodged so many crypto lovers and investors in my country. Since it didn't happen then at a time when Bitcoin had so much bad reviews, I don't see it happening now when the globe is getting into full grasp of its benefits. So, I doubt if the government of my country can ever ban Bitcoin.
4882  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Defi project like game pump and dump on: November 15, 2020, 05:13:23 AM
There is a major difference between bitcoin and the rest of the projects especially the token projects, once they dump even the developers leave the project because they might have dumped the coin initially and the rest of the investors follow that path to get the profit or cover the loss and those projects will not revive and rise like bitcoin.
Perhaps, you lost the import of my perspective in that comment I made. What has kept Bitcoin going in spite of the huge dump it suffered (I am referring to that of 2018 as I didn't witness others before it) is the trust the community has for it. And that's the only thing that can collapse Bitcoin, not even any government legislation. I saw what happened in 2017 when the Chinese government outlawed Bitcoin in that country. It only shook the operations of Bitcoin among merchants in that country a dew weeks and Bitcoin came back strong. So, it's the same way it will be in other situations except there is lost of faith in the tech by the community. Bitcoin is decentralized.
4883  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Extreme greed on the market on: November 15, 2020, 04:35:17 AM
Hey guys,
By recent Fear&Greed Index bitcoin is in extreme greed area, usually it's a sign of decline in price or even crash. I've been observing this index for quite some time and find it pretty accurate, of course it doesn't give you the exact day or time but it indicates the sentiment on the market. Do you ever use this index in your trading analysis?
By extension, what you're implying is that the Bitcoin market is in the overbought region now, right? Well, I used to believe that there was something like oversold and overbought areas when I started out trading a few years ago. That was in the past but experience has taught me there isn't anything like that. There can be corrections in the market from time to time, and this is fueled by fear of investors wanting to cash in on an opportunity to take profit and reenter later. It's an experienced way of trading. I often do this.
I don't follow any index because none is accurate. They're mostly lagging indicators.
4884  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The last time we saw 16K on Bitcoin price on: November 14, 2020, 08:48:12 PM
Going by the OP's data it means only Chainlink did very well within the time bracket (2018 - 2020) from $1.04 in 2018 to $12.89 in 2020. However, I know altcoins will always rise once there's a Bitcoin bull run. I look forward to such a time around this bull run (that has taken Bitcoin to $16,000) which will resurrect penny tokens/coins below one cent and then take them to three to five dollar or above. It happened in the past and I know such happenstance will reoccur soon.
4885  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Missed the golden opportunity, now what?? on: November 13, 2020, 04:51:42 AM
Lol it's just a thinking but the morale is that I have missed the biggest opportunity and I accept that it's a blunder for not participating positively in btc.
Such opportunities are ubiquitous, even now. Bitcoin is a decentralized coin, look for decentralized coins which are undervalued or tokens with utility and buy now. They will also gain traction in the near future.

Nobody knew it'd ever reach this price point.
But of course, this is the truth. If anyone, including Warren Buffet and Bill Gates, knew Bitcoin would get this far ten years ago they would've bought themselves shitload of it; even if it meant borrowing from the bank to do that or selling off their shares in juicy companies.

It's almost like 10 years from now we'd have a Bitcoin worth a billion bucks. Before it gets there, almost everyone who's purchased today would have sold at $100k, $1M or $10M. Those who'd still hold either have a shitload of money they don't really need to sell Bitcoin in the future anyway, were lucky enough to forget the password to their wallets for many years and became rich or so.
Exactly! Just like those who bought it ten years ago at less than $1 but sold off before it got $100. The same scenario will repeat itself soon.

On the other hand, the opposite could happen. You never know how, all of a sudden, people start not giving a crap about Bitcoin anymore and the markets'd crash like never before.
Sorry, I don't see this ever happening. I thought it would in 2018 but now we have passed that era of uncertainty. Bitcoin isn't a bubble anymore. It's the bedrock of the crypto industry and the blockchain tech. It ain't going anywhere.

4887  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Pain of bounty hunters on: November 12, 2020, 08:53:40 PM
Bounty tokens contribute a very small portion of the total supply if we look at the percentage of tokens which are traded but still bounty hunters are blamed for dumping the market with cheap price, regardless of the price bounty hunters sell the tokens if the project is good then the price will not be affected or even if it's affected it will eventually recover without much loss but they are blamed for dump wherein it's sometimes investors who dump the token for quick profit.
Very apt!

The worst part is when tokens are locked for bounty hunters and only distributed to them when the market is already broken by investors, after their efforts and ill-treatment in the hands of such bounties they finally receive worthless tokens which would be a loss even if they trade as the tokens will not even worth the GAS fee charged in MEW wallet to transfer it.
This is painful and I think BM who have managed projects like that where hunters were treated in such a manner should be avoided.

I urge all the management and bounty managers to treat bounty hunters with respect and they shouldn't be judged.
If care isn't taken, I foresee a situation where it will be very difficult to attract quality posters in bounties as a result of this ill treatment of hunters.
4888  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Defi project like game pump and dump on: November 12, 2020, 08:04:44 PM
Every genuine project pumps and dumps at certain stages. It isn't peculiar to a few projects. Even Bitcoin dumps really hard. It's just that Bitcoin has come to be trusted to always rise back once it dumps. If other projects dump the way Bitcoin does, I guess they probably would've stopped existing. I mean, what project dumps from $19,000+ to $3,500 and still rises back to $15,000+ after two years, if not Bitcoin? So, gaining and dumping isn't just a DeFi thing. It encompasses all projects.
4889  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Exchanges Tokens on: November 12, 2020, 03:47:00 PM
But if an exchange goes through a hard period of time and shuts downs then ultimately that token will come to its end because there is no community other than that exchange supporting the token simply because it has no usage outside the exchange.
So true of your insight on this. I have a couple of Tidex tokens from the Tidex Exchange (it's an exchange token too) sometimes I get worried of what could likely happen to my hodling if things were to turn south for the exchange because Tidex is only listed on just that one exchange. But like BNB, good things of life don't come easy. They take time. I remember when BNB got listed on its own exchange and how it dragged around less than 30 cents for weeks before spiralling onto a bull run and hitting an ATH. I strongly believe that every exchange token is laudable and a good buy.

4893  Economy / Economics / Re: Biden and Cryoto on: November 10, 2020, 02:18:48 PM
But was Trump a real deal?
I never said he was a real deal. If anything, I said 👇

It's the same way its progress has been delayed so far because Trump bashed it.

And I would say, Biden may turn more pro-Bitcoin if he wisely chooses not to touch this topic and announce his stance at all (unlike Trump)
If I were you, I wouldn't count on those old men to do anything meaningful for Bitcoin or the crypto industry. This is a terrain these old men know next to nothing about. Bitcoin is a tech for the upward moving generation, not some traditionally business minded individuals.
4894  Economy / Economics / Re: Biden and Cryoto on: November 10, 2020, 01:22:02 PM
That is a major advantage that makes bitcoin the coin for investors who like being independent. Being decentralized makes it not to be anybody's business, currency or point of regulation. Obama, Trump, Biden and who next? won't have control over it bupt they can make hate speech like Warren buffet  Grin
At any point in life we still need people in our space. The axiom "A tree doesn't make a forest" lays credence to this fact. The above people you mentioned can still speed up or delay the progress of Bitcoin despite it being a decentralized crypto. It's the same way its progress has been delayed so far because Trump bashed it. Imagine if Trump supported it, don't you think a lot of people (billionaires inclusive) would've keyed in and bought? A community crypto needs people to grow and Bitcoin is one. However, I don't think Biden will want to promote Bitcoin. He would rather play safe except he is beaten into it by the crowd because he seems someone who will want to dance to the tune of the crowd. Biden looks more like a puppet to me than a real deal.
4895  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The US, weeks after the elections? on: November 10, 2020, 08:33:43 AM
Pfizer announced a 90% effective vaccine recently. Of course, this announcement comes after the election. Glad Joe Biden, days after his victory, was ALREADY able to produce a vaccine. Crazy how fast he works.
So, you think Trump was responsible for the delay in finding a vaccine for the pandemic? Or there is a conspiracy theory to get Trump out of office by the big pharmaceutical companies? For me, objectively assessing the whole thing, it looks more like the second question in play here.
4896  Other / Politics & Society / The US, weeks after the elections? on: November 09, 2020, 05:21:41 PM
Honestly, those of us who aren't politicians can only but imagine what politicians go through when in lost of elections or their excitements when in win. In anticipation of what next for the outcome of the US presidential election in weeks to come, I will like to ask these questions so we can objectively garner some expected answers to them.

Biden, hitting the ground running?

1. Now that Trump has lost out, will he be humble in defeat and reach out to Biden or continue to cry foul and allege electoral impropriety?

2. Will he move out of the Whitehouse before January 20th as quickly as he went in four years ago or want to be obstinate and remain there?

3. Will Trump be that embittered not to attend the inauguration of Biden as the 46th president of the US?

4. Will his supporters (even those from the Christian community) take his defeat in good faith as what fate brought them and not go wild with rioting?

These and many more are questions waiting for answers.
4897  Economy / Reputation / Re: [List] Merit Sources without activty in the past 20 days on: November 08, 2020, 08:58:23 PM
Not active over 1000 mert senders which are sourses : ...
Honestly, this is a real trying time for a lot of people because of the pandemic. When I don't see members online for days I worry for them and begin to think if the worse has happened, truly. Since usernames aren't real names, we may not know if this forum has lost some members to the outbreak in death. So, quite understandably, it is safe to assume that the mentioned users didn't intentionally chicken out but that something could have been amiss with them. Anyone who knows them outside this forum can check on them to ascertain what issues they're faced with now. Again, if there are merit sources who have been known to have abused merit and their positions as sources, such should be revoked and be sanctioned appropriately.
4898  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: when is the right time to buy cryptocurrency? on: November 08, 2020, 03:48:44 PM
I always think when is the right time to buy cryptocurrency and I've thought of several methods for choosing the right time to buy cryptocurrency, that is :
1. buy coin during ICO, IEO or STO;
This is a no-no for me. I tried it in 2017 and got severely burnt. I rather wait for the token to be listed on exchanges if it's a desired token and then buy.

2. buy when the price down (dump);
This is the best buying strategy for me. But the nag with this is one's ability to decode if the dump isn't a soft exit. Otherwise, one will end up buying into a project whose devs have dumped finally.

3. buy when the project has a good news;
4. buy when the price starts to increase (pump);
This would be you chasing price because it's FOMO and it isn't good. You can buy on the rumour of the news (that's before the news is made official), but not on the news.

6. buy when the project already has a product.
Exchanges are overrated. I don't buy a token because it's listed on Binance or some other big exchanges. I buy tokens which have a use case.
4899  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Escrowed very important for bounty? on: November 08, 2020, 01:47:19 PM
I think not every projects will accept escrow no matter how hard we try, this didn't mean they won't pay either, look at projects like CTSI and DIA, very successful projects indeed, the bounties aren't Escrowed, I believe this was possible because of the bounty manager
Those projects you mentioned were managed by Bubbalex, a manager of high repute. I promoted the first one (Cartesi) but didn't enrol in DIA. Bubbalex has the love of hunters and respect from the bounty community  I guess that's why hunters rush to be in his bounties even when they know the rewards are not escrowed. However, what I just pointed out here isn't to belittle the need to escrow rewards by bounty managers. In fact, escrowing rewards should be seen as a necessary addition to the contract managers make with project owners. Having rewards escrowed will even save managers the risk of being called scammers or of their accounts getting tagged by DT members if project teams scam hunters.
4900  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading in the pandemic on: November 08, 2020, 06:41:59 AM
In the first and early phase of the coronavirus pandemic, a lot of trading activities dropped, causing a rather significant change in price of which seemed threatening and logical to watch out for in light of the resurfacing of the pandemic for a second time.
A lot of us forget that among those who died from the coronavirus outbreak were active traders too. Dead people don't trade or engage in businesses. So, this can also explain the drop in trades. Quite alright, the first wave took the world by surprise and unprepared we struggled to cope with it. But this second wave will be met with stiff preparedness, at least.

Therefore, the market though might encounter a little bumpy road, is bound to run smoothly in no time.
Any bumpy encounter should be seen as a correction and that is expected. If we are truthful to ourselves we would reckon that Bitcoin has already had a great bull run this year despite the pandemic.
