It is highly unusual, though, to offer services in an account's first post. You'd think to offer services for Bitcoin the account owner would have been around this forum longer... and had another account longer...
It maybe but there are some people who interested in Bitcoin or was active in r/bitcoin and want to announce their service here. What you said is possible too. Hello, new user here trying to get my first of two pieces of mining gear going. I have a Cryptorig Hitchhiker usb stick (Bitfury ASIC, same chip used in red fury, blue fury). I downloaded the latest BFGminer, plugged in my usb stick, and then launched BFGminer using the following: bfgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u myBTCaddress.HH -p x -S all --set-device NFY:osc6_bits=50
The light on the ubs stick comes on briefly, the screen displays:
"Started bfgminer 5.1.0"
Then the light goes out, nothing happens on the screen, then it quits with:
"No server could be used! Exiting."
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Are you sure you want to throw your 2.6GH/s to solo mining? You won't get anything from it. Calculate your profit using vnbitcoin.org/bitcoincalculator.php and if it is profitable, point that miner to Ghash.io or Eligius as these pools support merged mining. -MZ |

Basically I could set my old laptop that I dont use anymore to do this on a regular basis correct? I understand that to really get into this, you do need more computing power than a single old laptop, especially to make more money at it so I would be pretty lucky to get anything. But thats basically what I could do right?
Basically old laptop would work, but you will waste much more electricity than you get Bitcoins. Even with very specialized ASIC hardware for bitcoin mining you need the most power effecient one + cheap electricity to be profitable. or you could just steal power from the sun  It's easy! Use solar panel!  I recommend not to use a laptop, it become hot too fast. You can get a desktop for cheaper and it won't be hot as laptop. -MZ |

Which site paper wallet you are using There is no relation between paper wallets and other wallets, paper wallet is a wallet but it is usually misunderstood as there are many ways to create it and most of them prefer to do it online but it is depreciated as it destroys the real use of paper wallets and is less secure. I recommend you to use bitaddress.org offline version or use other offline paper wallets generator to secure your Bitcoin. -MZ |

I'm currently in contact with GBattaglia. We've agreed on collateral which will be held by a trusted third party which has been agreed by myself and GBattaglia. We are at the final stages of agreeing everything before the amount will be sent.
The collateral doesn't cover any where near the amount being sent, however I believe that the amount will be returned. The collateral is just in case GBattaglia does default I can minimise my losses.

Last time there were avatars, someone hacked the forum by uploading javascript to the avatar. This happened:

Also, there was a meter saying that your bitcoins were going to be transferred to "CosbyCoins" (I wasn't here when the forum got hacked, but I have read about it.)
There should be avatar uploads in the new forum software, going to be released around February.

Well, you can't change your avatar but you can remove it by sending a PM to theymos or other admins(don't know whether they can do it or not). As this doesn't have high priority, it may take some time to get it removed but I suggest you not to.
