I think the browser miner is worthless for anyone, I'm not sure why wetsuit put it in the first place
Just to attract some people to the site. That's pretty much it, it's a gimmick. The whole faucet thing started as a way to introduce noobs to Bitcoin by giving a small amount away for free. This is just an extension on that idea by introducing noobs to the concept of mining.

I've been intrigued for some time as to why the recommended fee on bitcoinfees.earn.com is usually at least 10 times what you really need to pay to get included in the next block. Over the last few days, I've noticed that they show about 600 transactions at 211+ and about another 650 at 141-150. After each block is found these do not disappear. This screenshot was taken immediately after a block which included many transactions at 5 sats/byte. ![Image loading....](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.snag.gy%2FxZL0mo.jpg&t=664&c=ILFnS-TLo3SqIw) These transactions are not shown on https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#1,2hSo as every node has its own version of the mempool these transactions for some reason must not be getting propagated around the network. Obviously, if the data they are using to estimate fees has 1200 high fee transactions that cannot get confirmed then their estimate is going to be much higher than it needs to be. How does this happen? Is this a bug?

just noticed new ranking here in the screen grab but it is not mentioned in the main post for this thread ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fvgy.me%2FgHEoQ6.png&t=664&c=s-3IS7-T7O7NGA) It has it's own thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2385104.0It's a paid membership in addition to the ranks listed here. If you see a post by someone wearing a Copper Membership it is listed in addition to their rank.

If you think it's that bad why don't you contribute to tidy it up? It's an open source project and everyone is welcome to add their expertise. https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin

Still not clear how activity is recorder, somehow I see my activity number equivalent to the number of posts
Congratulations, you've done the hard bit and found the thread explaining it. If you move on to step 2 and read the OP you will find it explained there under the heading "The way activity is calculated:".

![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) There is also the option to Earn 4.08% annual interest on FreeBitco.in balance but for now I disabled it for fear that my withdraw chance be affected and the more delayed. It will make no difference. However, you do need a balance of at least 0.00030000 BTC which is the same as the minimum withdrawal before you earn any interest. The easiest thing to do is make a deposit that will take your balance over 0.00030000 BTC. That will both let you start earning interest or if you prefer to make a withdrawal.

Ohh I see what you're talking about, I think I'm starting to understand what you're talking about now.. Also, I want to ask what are your opinions about the number of required merits to have past Member to rank? Isn't it too much of a gap to achieve? I think that the scalability should be the same with activity.
The merit requirements are proportional to the activity requirements. Rank | Required activity | Required merit | Brand new | 0 | 0 | Newbie | 1 | 0 | Jr Member | 30 | 0 | Member | 60 | 10 | Full Member | 120 | 100 | Sr. Member | 240 | 250 | Hero Member | 480 | 500 | Legendary | Random in the range 775-1030 | 1000 |
The merit requirement for Sr. and above is slightly more than activity, but the requirement for Full Member is slightly below. The biggest adjustment to this is that the requirement for Member has been reduced from around 50 to 10. I think this was done so as not to be a disincentive to noobs.

Please explain why you are assuming this would help them more (did i miss something?).
They would just use alt accounts to leave lots of positive feedback to make themselves look trustworthy. That's true, but a) they can do it today as well b) as long as they don't have an alt that's DT1/2 it's still untrusted. Just to be clear: my main point is the visibility of untrusted feedback. I don't want to change anything on default trust or the difference of untrusted / trusted. Edit: I think i will collect some of the scam accusations where this problem was a big factor and post them for reference. You're missing the whole point of there being a distinction between trusted and untrusted feedback. The untrusted feedback is hidden by default because it is just as likely left by an alt if positive or as @AdolfinWolf pointed out be retaliatory if negative. You will be able to collect examples of correct scam accusations, but for every 1 you find there will be at least 10 false feedbacks. That will cause more confusion and put more people in danger of being scammed than it will save.

In an alternative scenario where fees are simply too low to be profitable, I don't see why there wouldn't be miners voluntarily keeping operations going. just as they did when all this started. And when there are corporate and state interests, I can even foresee some setting aside budgets for the purpose of securing the network - thus securing their own Bitcoin-reliant businesses.
Mining profitability is actually self-balancing. The miners with the highest cost will stop first and as their hashing is removed the difficulty will retarget lower. The worst case scenario is that after the halving it takes a few weeks to sort itself out. As long as Bitcoin has value there will always be some reward in mining and the difficulty retarget will always ensure that it is profitable for enough miners to continue.

I don't want to risk my computer for doing browser mining and I think it is not recommended. but I will choose to play with the faucet only since it is an easy to play and no need to risk my computer. I think you need to find your self if you don't know with something but you need to know about the risk that might be makes your computer in damage.
There is no risk to your computer. The act of processing does not harm a processor. Modern computers have systems in place to prevent overheating by first reducing the frequency and then an auto cutout before reaching a point that could cause harm.

Well I don't know wheather someone has asked this before or not but as well all know that one day all the sMerits will get over since only half of the Merit sent gets converted into sMerit , so what will be the next step to get them back? How will you refill the sMerits ?
It's in the OP. The refill of sMerits is done through the sources, the only way everyone else can get more sMerit is to be awarded Merit. Merit sources There are 57 merit sources with a total merit generation of up to 11975 sMerit per 30 days
Every Merit you receive results in also getting 0.5 sMerit.

It is greatly appreciated if you guys can guide me to how I can really make a quality post worth giving merits to
I just had a quick look at your post history. The last post that isn't about merit and is in English is this: Eliminating the banks in the world is an impossible task, I must say. Banks are ruled by the richest people in the world and I think it'll be easy for them to manipulate the market if they wish so. If we're going to think about it, the market is affected by the news. Those news "misunderstood" by the people.
It's on page 34 of a thread called "Can we totally eliminate all the banks in this world?". Did you read all 34 pages and decide that nobody had already said exactly what you did? Do you think anybody else is ever going to read all 34 pages to get to your post? Most of your posts follow the same pattern, just spamming your first thoughts on the subject title which hundreds of other spammers have already done before you. Try reading a thread before posting. Engage in discussion rather than just posting your opinion. Forget about chasing merits and just enjoy talking about Bitcoin to people, then the merits will come to you.

I haven't posted in the Wall Observer thread in 2-3 years, but it's still always at the top. Same with a few other megathreads.
Having a new "ignore" option for viewing threads on "Show unread posts since last visit." page, can come in handy. An ignore thread option would be the way to go IMO. I still find the 'Show unread posts since last visit' page useful despite it getting clogged up with threads that refuse to die.

I am one of the people who are not too exited about this re-branding. Yes, they said that the old domain will still re-direct people to the new site, but I cannot see why you would want to get rid of a Brand that is basically a House hold name in the Crypto currency community.
I do agree with this, there is a large value to such a well-known brand name, it doesn't seem like a good business decision to just discard it. I don't know if you saw Wetsuit's post on the subject but his reasoning is that he wants to get away from the 'free' part of the name. Turning it into a non-KYC exchange and gambling site rather than being seen as a faucet. It's not how I would do it, but hey let's see how it turns out.

Been checking out this signature campaign for a while, never thought i would see merit statistics in the thread, and that is a great amount of merit circulating on the member of campaign, i made some statistics too about merit, but this is next level because you focused on your participants.
Do you use excel (or other software) to write the data directly or write it down first to a paper before you made the chart?
It's automated using Google Sheets. The link to the campaign spreadsheet is in the OP of this thread. There's a bit more information in this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2970251.msg30516300#msg30516300

your account has ranked that is safe if you agree if your account is still a newbie ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) Yes, rank is meaningless to me. If you check the date I registered you'll work out that I would easily be Legendary in rank by now if I had been interested to do so. You can also see that my posts have been awarded 103 merit points in the 26 days since the merit system was introduced. That means the system wouldn't have made any difference to my rank if it had always been there anyway, as that's a lot quicker than activity could be gained. The only reason to care about rank is if you are here primarily to earn money for posting. I'm getting paid for my signature right now but I see that as a bonus, not a reason to be here. Ooopps..! I think there's something missing a very important things. You know what? I guees you couldn't say that, if merit was not implemented. Also you couldn't realized what the important role of merit and ranks if theres no merit. No, I absolutely could and would say that regardless.

I am prompted that I can only send 10pms per hour. I thought it is 60pms per hr? ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) That information is out of date. New limits were set last December as below: Activity | Max recipients | Max recipients if whitelisted | Max PMs per hour | Max PMs per hour if whitelisted | Max PMs per day | Max PMs per day if whitelisted | 0 | 2 | 10 | 1 | 40 | 2 | 120 | 15 | 3 | 10 | 10 | 40 | 15 | 120 | 30 | 5 | 10 | 10 | 40 | 30 | 120 | 100 | 7 | 14 | 20 | 80 | 150 | 600 | 250 | 15 | 30 | 120 | 120 | 300 | 1200 | 500 | 30 | 30 | 120 | 120 | 1200 | 1200 |
You are automatically whitelisted if you buy a copper membership. You don't need to wear the copper membership, just own it. You can also be whitelisted for free by any staff member and a few non-staff, but we're going to need some reason to think that you actually deserve it. Do not ask me for free whitelisting. Whitelisting is a not a license to spam. You will be immediately banned if you're found spamming, even if you bought a copper membership (and you will not be refunded).

Further to what @nc50lc just said trust settings are individual to each user. You can add or remove people from your trust network which then changes the trust ratings you see. So as a guest there is no trust rating to see as you do not have a trust network. If you go to https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust you will see DefaultTrust is already added but you can customise it however you like.
