I get the excitement about institutional money, and I suppose oligarchies fall right into that category, but yeah, I still think retail interest is underestimated and their time isn't over. We're still going to need major mainstream consumer utility and demand to push us over into six-figure territory, which I'm certain the next range of ATHs should advance into.
Oligarchs is a wise businessman, I don't think that they will fall into the whales group. But just maybe they don't have a choice right now as Rubble is going to be worthless so they might have putting some on bitcoin. But as soon as everything normalizes, they will get out and what's left is for us average joe investors. Nevertheless we are the majority of investors, and speculators so we can keep the market alive till the next block halving and the eventual all time high.

Wise or smart, I don't know. Old money is always smart by virtue of history, but if they're not institutional, what would you categorise them as? Their funds anyway probably are managed by other smart people (another aspect of old money) so if they're not already exposed to Bitcoin, there's no better motivation than a crippled ruble.

Great to see all you punters coming in strong for a late pool, but I knew this forum has the will Wink I count 8 already registered in the pool. I've made my payment, PM'd OP my tx ID, and will uh, figure out Superbru's scoring system shortly.

Dumb pre-season prediction: AlphaTauri win in first 5 races!

Bloody hell Juventus. What on earth happened there? Kept an eye on stats and they were dominating corners etc but an engrossing Liverpool-Arsenal game kept me glued the second half -- I suppose after falling back they had no choice but to pile on the attack and the Spanish just took them on the counter huh?

Real, Villareal, Atletico -- that's almost a guaranteed semifinalist if we get a Spanish QF!
4924  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 16, 2022, 07:18:56 PM
I went with 1:2 for Liverpool in this match aswell. I think this will be a pretty rough match between this two teams honestly. Arsenal has picked up their form and are playing really good. But after that mistake by Man City dropping those points i need to go with Liverpool in this match.
I always hate playing after Man City have dropped points, I always find it a nervy affair regardless who we play. I'm just hoping those defensive fragility in the Arsenal back line, allow us some chances, and most importantly we actually take them. Otherwise, I could easily see this game going down as a draw. We absolutely need to make the most of Man City dropping points though.

I guess we'll see how the mentality monsters cope tonight under pressure.

^I am also on Liverpool 2:1 for pool prediction but just both to score on my ticket. This should be toughest game for Liverpool against Arsenal in recent history. Arsenal is in the best possible form at the moment and they are playing some beautiful football. Liverpool is always up for the important games and they usually whip the floor with gunners. Should be an interesting game and hopefully some goals in it. Gonna watch it instead of CL which is saying something Smiley

I hate myself for being the way I am, my position's pretty precarious in the pool after taking risks last week and failing most (Spurs and Everton, I am talking about you especially) and I know 2:1 is the safest bet -- this is a resurgent Arsenal side, pressure is on us to take advantage of City's slip, and well, football is round.

But I'm going to bite my lip and stick with good old 3-0 Reds win. A win is all I need though of course! Liverpool 22/10!
4925  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's UEFA Champions League Football Preditor Pool Discussion thread on: March 16, 2022, 01:01:42 PM
Chelsea issues mean either good news for fans (bookies up the odds) or bad news if you think they might start to get affected by on-field play. I've never seen them much as a team reliant on fans though, so they won't miss much if only season-ticket holders watch. Pretty shit to do that to them though, I do feel sorry.

Hope you took that Atletico win. I watched the game and I can't say it is undeserved. United had a bit more of the ball but only few real chances, 1:1 would have been the most fair result.

I did! Much smaller than I initially wanted, I'm trying to be more responsible with my betting as I'm having a poor season -- blaming it on much shorter time spent on games and news these days and some crunch time with studies (or maybe my shittiness is finally showing ha). Watching the match, yeah, I agree. Atletico clearly know how to win matches much more than United, and seeing Pogba start on the bench, I thought it was worth to back them more but the odds actually kept improving so I saw less and less value.

4926  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: March 16, 2022, 10:16:59 AM
That VAR check for handball in the second half from a Soton header did look like a red card to me.
But that's how it's been lately in the EPL with these reviews lately. First Manchester City and now Southampton getting bitten by the VAR bug for these referee blunders when it counts.

A big series of VAR calls this season and of course some clubs have benefited more than not, there's been a VAR table done up by ESPN ever since this new implementation that keeps track of how teams have benefited (or not). Liverpool were in the negatives for 2 past seasons (more gone against them than for) but we're actually +1 now I believe.

I'd still take it away.

City have had 2 go for them already that I can remember. Everton's should-have-been-a-pen the most recent, but much earlier, they had a lucky handball pen in December against Wolves. Moutinho has his back to ball. Ball hits his armpit, then his arm. No pen call from ref but VAR review... penalty. Sterling scores, City win 1-0.

That's TWO 1-0 games that should have been draws because VAR robbed Wolves and then Everton.

Ooops, I thought I got over VAR. Guess not haha

Hello friends. After talking to Steve, we've decided to open a pool for the F1 2022 season. I'm waiting for the people who would be willing to participate in the pool here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5389827.new#new

Good on you! We've all scrambled to make last minute bets, overpaying Bitcoin fees to get next-block confirmation and then rushed to put a bet seconds before kickoff. So I'm sure we can do this F1 easily. Worst-case, you can set up the pool to start counting points from 2nd race, no biggie.

Sorry for the mass tag but Trofo NeuroticFish LTU_btc coinlocket$ slaman29 qwertyup23 examplens casperBGD swogerino vd309 leea-1334 -- F1 afficionados and SB pool meisters, ready for some pedal to the metal? Sign up, we're all mostly on Superbru anyway already Wink

Yes, Atletico managed to close the ports and keep the clean shot. We must not forget that Athletic has been playing good matches in CL for a while, as I expected athletic to score in the first half.

I thought that ajax would draw against Benfica but my doubts were on Benfica. lol this is my ticket for tonight.

Bloody hell man, I thought I was special to get the superboost at just over 4/1 but you went big there. Shame about Benfica odds, they were 12/1 at one point I'm sure I saw! Still, solid, solid win, that's the type that gets me juices flowing heh.
4928  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏁🏎️ Sportsbet.io🏁 FORMULA 1 2022 Season🏁🏎️Prediction Pool Discussion Thread on: March 16, 2022, 07:29:20 AM
Well, what do you know? Another pool for me to pretend I know what I'm doing Wink

But for sure, I think F1's interesting enough to watch even for a total n00b -- to hell with the technical rules, first one to the finish line usually wins it all, right?

So count me in.

Let's go for Superbru, and familiarise ourselves with the way they score so we all don't get lost (speaking for myself anyway).

Last night should have been a hitter for most people. Ronaldo I switched out for Kane and he got his penalty so I'm safe on the first selection. We'll know today who's got a shot, I see a lot of people also have Saka (my fav) and Kane, so we'll have a lot of supporters here.
Did you have any luck with Majestic7 Matchday 29 predictions?
I only had one correct goal scorer Kai Havertz in Chelsea vs Newcastle match Sad
Sometimes you can make best research, do everything correctly and miss the target totally.
Better luck next time, after break in Premier League next Matchday 31 is scheduled for April 2.

Unfortunately not, one of my worst performances in recent times as I also only got one guy right (Harry Kane). To be fair, there was some confusion about MD 29/30 though (and I see FJ's decided to skip MD30 altogether and combine into MD29), and I thought I was making my picks for different matches in MD30 -- not FJ's fault at all, mine for not comparing match schedules heh.

Havertz was my Chelsea pick the previous edition, I opted for Ziyech this time around (tough). Low scoring week anyway so we shouldn't be too concerned.

Shame there isn't a MD30 as it kicks off with Arsenal Liverpool and Brighton-Spurs... I'm predicting plenty of goals!
4930  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Round of 16! on: March 15, 2022, 09:24:01 PM
Ajax did all the huffing but they're under fire in the second half. Need to have more killer instinct though or it's going to end badly even if they qualify to QF. Like they haven't matured or something.

Eyes still on the game at Old Trafford though as I've got a bet on Atletico (4/1) so I'm kind of hoping they get another goal to cushion the game and force Rangnick to bring on Pogba and Varane -- I meant Cavani of course.

Call me simplistic but this is really how I operate and it seems to hold true for me: when the noise surrounding you is generally that of a positive, bullish outlook - then it's a bear market. And that's what people trying to convince and will the market into submission sounds like.

When it's all doom and gloom, and even the hardiest of traders are shaking their head -- watch out, the cream is about to rise to the top.

In that sense, you can't really expect the bull when it arrives, but you can kind of expect when it's not.

P.S. There are days I wonder why I spend so long trying to understand something. This almost turned into one of those days.
4933  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's UEFA Champions League Football Preditor Pool Discussion thread on: March 15, 2022, 12:39:08 PM
I think both Ajax and Atletico were really unlucky last week not to walk away with the win, but that just means tonight's games should be really fun to watch. Both home teams are clear favourites, so that suits me a lot. Going to back Atletico to win, although to qualify at 25/10 is also pretty good odds if they decide to go back to their playbook and just play to annoy. Think I'll wait for some kind of price boost to see if we can't get it bumped to 3/1 and parlay that with a Chelsea clean sheet tomorrow?

4934  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: March 15, 2022, 11:37:53 AM
Not that easy, Arsenal wants the Champions League spot, so this will be hard to get.
Looking at the best predicts for that game on Wednesday should be a full time draw.

Oh, for sure, this isn't an easy game. But I like whenever we play Arsenal as they play the way we like (positive football) and it's generally a high-scoring entertainment edition whenever we play. A draw's definitely the smart bet, but I can't help betting on Liverpool.

All the pressure its now in the Manchester City side.

In horse races they have a very certain phrase: " horse that reaches wins " i dont know if the traslate of this aphorism its good for the english tongue, but just in case, says that the horse that reaches the pointer ends up winning.

Can Liverpool finally catch the City and made true the horse aphorism?

To be fair, the result doesn't change very much and the pressure is equal on both teams -- Liverpool still need to win every game, including and especially the one against City in April. If we draw that one and win everything else, then we still need City to drop points in one more game. A Palace win would have allowed us to win everything AND draw the City game. So as it stands, mathematically, the leage's two leading horses each have destiny in their own hands, simply winning everything left to play for... so I guess your horse metaphor makes perfect sense in the case of both teams Wink

Zverev and Medvedev out, so glad I didn't back the latter (he put me off last GS) but man, Nadal must be licking his chops. My Tsitsi also out, so there goes my outright even earlier than expected. Wow.

Am I crazy here or all that was said was "Naomi, you suck"?
Again, I know it is mental problem and I can't even think how it must be tough for her but I can guarantee that all players heard worse during their careers. Good thing she is in tennis, every time I play or watch lower league football I learn new curses Smiley

If that's all that was said, well, then she really really needs some help, come back stronger, etc. Needs to work on that first before she ever comes back. But like we all agree here I think there is also an unspoken rule about not beating down on someone who can't take it. Eriksen getting hugged after fouling in football to me demonstrates this.

But yeah, good thing tennis because I was 9 playing football and I got a hell lot worse than that. And watching school and college sports too, it gets way out of hand especially with no good officiating.

From $33k up to $43k is the biggest increase since new ATH in november 2021, this proves that bitcoin investment can skyrocket and earn big profits even when the market looks like a negative trend, and I'm sure in 2022 there will be new ATH at least 3 times .

Still, remind me of how right you are if/when we get 3 ATHs over the next 9 months.

Really hard to see on how we are going to achieved that in the next 9 months unless billions of dollars are going to flow into the market, but where it will come? from the Russian oligarchs? I doubt it.

We might as well feel extremely bearish in 2022 and shoot down that idea of reaching ATH 3x this year, Lol. At least we won't get disappointed by going bearish.

Things like this should definitely be expected to come at some point if you think realistically. But yea — kinda earlier than expected, but at the same time I think we already saw mixers get pursued by the authorities so I guess I'm not THAT surprised.

Anyway, wish some devs would just fork the privacy coinjoin stuff and integrate it to Bitcoin Core; if it's possible, that is.

Yeah, I think you, I and anyone paying attention will probably have to expect the worst when it comes to mixers (and I'm sure you guys all know what I'm talking about), and we'd probably have to expect it sooner rather than later. The only hopeful thing I can see is that some mixers still operate a little less visibly than the likes of Wasabi. And, in acknowledgment of above discussions on commercial/profiteering interest, some still choose to operate with clearer goals that would not see them give in to regulator pressure without a fight.
4939  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: March 14, 2022, 09:59:29 PM
Not pretty, not at all, and Palace, well, if they'd just been half as clinical in passing as City up front, they could have had a shot on goal or two more. Zaha was really bright at holding, but his final pass just really poor, you have to be a bit better on the counter -- first time I've really seen Mateta playing and he's a bit lanky but also a good holder, I'd say an upgrade on Benteke.

4 points ahead having played one game more. Liverpool must beat Arsenal on Wednesday or this will be a waste!

@Trofo
Yeah, actually I just put Petra's game tomorrow on an acca with Tsitsi to get 2 legs up on Champions League football. Don't know much about her but I picked the best-looking 2/1 player after what should be a morale-boosting victory to get the better of Samsonova (and she's beaten her not too long ago).

@Cnut237
She's too young, I think, yeah, physically as well and that's not at all a criticism from me, just a matter of physics. Really important consideration for the rigours of a tournament, match fitness and conditioning hasn't quite had the time to set in. I know I say it without any real basis but I really do think her fantasy run was fantastical and sporting miracle that I doubt we'll see again soon. I always say there's a need to protect young talents and realign expectations. For the future this one, but it must be great times to be watching British Sports.
