EOS could be on this list, I just hate the fact that they're grabbing $1 billion for their never ending ICO.
This is the same reason that I don't like EOS. Fair enough it may be a good project, but the style of the ICO seems like a bit of a money grab. I am staying away at the moment. There are plenty of other good projects to follow instead.

I'm interested in diversifying my portfolio as I currently have 100% into Litecoin, but can't decide on how I should split the percentages.
I'm thinking:
Bitcoin 50% = $2500 Litecoin 33% = $1650 Etherium 17% = $850 (Gets me 1.x ETH)
How does this look? I honestly think that LTC could have a bigger year than ETH, if things come into play like Litepay/Litepal.
Looks good, but I would suggest to also put a percentage into some smaller cap coins - more risk but more reward. There are plenty of good big coins that you are not including, but it depends on personal perspective - some people prefer to have only a small number of different coins as this makes it easier to keep up with news.

I want some opinions about the NEO currency and how is going to be in this upcoming year, is it a good investment or is just something stagnant, is it worth right now to buy NEO or just try to focus in another way!?!
Yes, it has great possibilities. It is one of the few coins that just about everyone seems to think is good. 2018 should be a great year for the smart contract platforms, and NEO has considerable room to grow.

So i saw people post on facebook to buy ETH when it was $0.25
Surely a good choice....
But now it is $1200...... All ETH does is release shady ICOs and some dumb cat dApp. Is this the future of virtual currency or a scam? To make those rich who bought it for $0.25?
We bitcointalk friends should be more smart and AVOID eth to buy whats cheap NOW.
No, of course it isn't a scam. At the moment it is used largely for ICOs, but this is still the early-adoption phase. It will come into its own as we move into a future where smart contracts are commonplace in everyday life. The world is becoming progressively more automated. Smart contracts will be a major part of that as we see jobs where people act as intermediaries disappear.

Hello friends What you prefere ETC or ETH? Why
I prefer ETH as it is the number one smart contract platform. ETC isn't a viable competitor, at best it is a store of value coin like so many others.

it is 5 possiblities 1) buy nothing 2 ) buy BTC and or ETH the king and queen ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) 3) buy new company just finish recently ico bluzelle ,artblock, sophia, bee .. 4) or buy low cap gem OCN , TRAC, ESPER, lamden 5) buy strong alt like NEO, XML, NANO, ADA 6).....your idea ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) i am curious about everyone opinion the 3) and 4) AND 5) you can give yours ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) and 6) if you see something Else I would go with 2,4 and 5. The reasons I'd say no to the other choices: 1) the market is recovering and prices are slowly rising, so it makes sense to buy something; 3) if you want to buy into a good new project, then buy in at ICO pre-sale for maximum returns, this is generally better than buying in straight after the ICO.

NEO is a great coin, and 169 NEO is a good amount.
A x50 increase would get you to $1 million. It's not impossible, but 2 years might be too short. 5 years could be more realistic - but then it's all guesswork, so who knows, maybe you can do it in 2 years.

guys
whats do you think and why ?
i mean in the next 2-5 years whats your word ?
I would say go with both. They are both likely to increase in value substantially. If you buy both, you won't end up felling like you've missed out.

We probably have multiple alts that one could consider as better version of bitcoin but as you're noticing, bitcoin is gaining more popularity and a fast growth. The price is not a measure of a coin success so what I'm referring to here is the the number of ATMs, exchanges, stores, services, and people accepting it.
So even If we have some people using alts currently because they believe they are better then bitcoin (which may be true), bitcoin is evolving and the development is super active and exciting times are coming. I honestly believe that this make alts useless (say, by the end of the year), your thoughts?
I agree that bitcoin is doing well, and when LN arrives properly it will solve a lot of existing problems. Certainly many alts will become irrevelant, and many are irrelevant already. However I don't think bitcoin makes all alts useless. Many of them have specific uses that are separate from the coin/token itself. For example even if bitcoin is lightning quick with low transaction fees, it doesn't offer smart contracts, and it doesn't offer complete anonymity, it won't be the best option for integration with IoT, etc.

Hey guys, just wonder whether your coin choice depends nowadays on mining ways? What would you choose POW based coins or POS? I personally like POS algorithm and stake some strat and nebl, what about you?
PoW is fine when a coin is just getting up and running, but it surely can't be a final state for big coins. So yes I definitely do take this into account when looking at coins.

Yes, I think crypto will end cash. Cash is nearly extinct anyway in many places. It is a relic of a bygone era, we are moving towards a global instant electronic payment system, and crypto is the end state.

Hello can you please rate my portfolio?
I'm a fan of IoT Chain, and agree this is a very under-rated coin. However, if this is your whole portfolio then it is very high risk. If it were me I would have some high cap alts in there and some bitcoin too.

My top 5 alts for 2018, expect lots of growth (not including BTC, ETH)
NEO: top blockchain project from China with more than 100 ICOs launching this year, will only get bigger.
NANO: you gotta use it to believe it. Makes Litecoin look like a turtle, and no transaction fees. IOS and android wallets, plus you can use Nano on Twitch live game streaming video platform.
WANCHAIN (coming to exchanges): will be a good competitor among NEO & ETH. Will also launch ICOs on its platform.
ICON/ICX: top, huge blockchain project from Korea, with a very big team and smartest people in Korea working on it, with a mission to hypperconnect the world.
OMISEGO: THE top project on the Ethereum blockchain. Vitalik said when he's done with Ethereum, he will be with the OmiseGo team full time, he really believes in their mission to bank the unbanked. Recently got a partnership with the government of Thailand.
EOS could be on this list, I just hate the fact that they're grabbing $1 billion for their never ending ICO.
Normally when people post lists like this, I find myself disagreeing with a lot of their choices. This one is a change, I agree with everything you've listed!

The responses in this thread are interesting. Almost every coin divides opinion, with some lovers and some haters. But for NEO it seems that almost everyone recognises that it has huge potential.

Do you have any good reason to believe that the crypto market is going to grow this year? Do you think we may end up in all red? I do not see the growth and happy investing of last years.
No, I think we will hit new ATHs this year. We have seen a lot of red over the last two months, but there was a lot of green before that. There are signs that the market is starting to stabilise now, and I expect a return to green fairly soon.
|
|
|
I think it is too early to say we are entering a bull market again. We have seen some relative stability over the last couple of weeks... this is certainly what is needed in preparation for the next bull market... but I don't think we can say for sure that the bear has ended yet. I am hopeful, but still wary.

I want to see how far I can take $100 day trading. I welcome any tips and advice please. How do I find coins/tokens that are about to pump?
Thanks!
I would advise that if you see a small coin going up, only buy if you know why it is going up... if you buy a pump and dump coin during the pump you will likely get burnt. A good general tip is don't be greedy, and set an exit point before you start each trade. And then stick to that exit point!

$10 would look like, btc to $100.000, its unlikely to happen toh, $3-$5 is reasonable
This is only if BTC rises at the same rate as XRP. XRP has shown that it can hit big prices, $3 not so long ago. There has been more and more good news from Ripple, and I think $10 this year is certainly possible.

What do you guys think? Is it too late to buy NEO? sitting at $15.
I think these old threads are quite thought provoking. Each new ATH brings us into uncharted territory. Back in August $15 was high for NEO. Now six months later it is at $130, and the whole market has risen enormously. Today is still not too late to buy NEO, or any coin that has good prospects. We have no idea what future crypto cap can be, but year by year the cap moves ever more steeply upwards.

Which should I invest in, that potentially has more growth? I know this really isn't able to be given a direct answers, but what's everyones opinion and why are they different?
To me it seems more people are interested in ETH, over LTC which seems to be the case. More investors equals more interest, and a better growth.
The current issue with Litepay has kind of turned me off of LTC, but if things work out that seems like it could be a good spike in growth as well.
I would say ETH, it has huge potential growth. The competitors are a long way behind, and whilst they may also be successful, ETH has a big established presence with the EEA. LTC I'm not sure about. I can see it losing relevance. I'm not sure how it would be affected by bitcoin LN.
