How about a simpler solution? Just lock all the accounts that have been inactive since the last time the forum was hacked and the database stolen.

your account has ranked that is safe if you agree if your account is still a newbie ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) Yes, rank is meaningless to me. If you check the date I registered you'll work out that I would easily be Legendary in rank by now if I had been interested to do so. You can also see that my posts have been awarded 103 merit points in the 26 days since the merit system was introduced. That means the system wouldn't have made any difference to my rank if it had always been there anyway, as that's a lot quicker than activity could be gained. The only reason to care about rank is if you are here primarily to earn money for posting. I'm getting paid for my signature right now but I see that as a bonus, not a reason to be here.

I stay away from forex and trade currency futures instead for that very reason. If you must trade forex then rather than Dukascopy I'd recommend Interactive Brokers as they place trades with all the worlds leading dealer banks. The order book you see if the best available bids and offers from all the sources.

Well, for freebitco.in it would be a bad idea to actually gamble there, especially when you want to deposit to gamble on their dice game. All those extra's they're offering are useless if you just want to play the dice game.
Actually, those reward points and lottery tickets they give you for every 500 sats wagered are not useless, they have value. That's the point I'm making here, a straight comparison of sites can't be done by looking at the house edge alone. In those cases it's better to just deposit to Crypto-Games for example. Also compare the freebies of freebitco.in to all the promotions on CG and I'd say the ones on CG are better.
I play on both sites and I prefer CGN for another reason. I love playing roulette. It's about entertainment and house edge doesn't really impact on that.

dont trade the alts on margin, but only BTC/USD, there its not so liklely they will push it so down to liqudate ur account, thats whats going in my head when we are seeing another pump of the century.
Sticking to higher liquidity markets is always safer. Things like that NEO flash crash are rare but you just need to be aware that they can happen and never risk more than you can afford to lose. This is crypto so you already accepted that you may lose your coin whenever you deposit it somewhere you don't have sole control of the private keys.

well i traded a lot 10Years ago, i actually tradedevrything that moves, i lost a lot on ISL/EUR at 2007 just before the crash i bought a milion against the eur, and no 24/7, so it was a gap, luckly i manage to get out way before a 70% crash of ISL, and manage to have a positive balance, but it could happen i would be oweing them the saxo read this 550.000 EUR-os, if I wouldnt close with a small loss of 5K. LOL
I never hold futures over even a 1hr close period. That's the thing, you have to weigh up the risks involved in anything you do in trading. Even then the worst thing that would happen in futures trading is all the FCMs would blacklist you until you paid back the debt. With crypto trading, you don't even have that hanging over you. The chances of wiping an account at such low leverage are pretty small and the most you stand to lose is your risk capital anyway.

So the question is would you trade margin on bitfinex, if u were hit on flash crash and your stop loss wasnt hit, and u end up with owing them 20% of your capital?
I do trade with margin on Bitfinex. I also trade futures with much higher leverage (300x to 500x) and I've witnessed flash crashes on the S&P 500 and Swiss Franc to just name two. This is part of the risk in trading. Normally automatic systems close out the trade, that's designed to protect the broker more than the trader because they know that if your account goes negative they have very little chance of recovering the money. I really don't think 3.3x leverage is all that risky and anyway you should never trade with money that you cannot afford to lose.

You might also want to take a look at a new one. https://www.ethfinex.com/ recently launched by Bitfinex for ERC20 token trading which I'm guessing from the OP is what you are looking to sell.

Could anyone please share me information about the regulations of ranking involved merit points? Thank alot.
Follow the link in the second line of the OP to this thread. Step one in earning merit is learning to read a thread before posting in it.

Some forum users who tried to make quality posts are now demotivate with this situation
Why does merit matter to you? If you came to this forum to learn about Bitcoin, participate in discussions and just get involved, then it really shouldn't make any difference to you.

Thanks @TryNinja
I don't have a Ledger, the OP just reminded me of seeing that news article. Could you say what exactly you should do if you bought a secondhand one?

@mjglqw It's difficult to tell from that article or the reddit report by the user exactly what happened. But yes I agree it is most likely down to the user not knowing what they were doing. That was the point of posting it here really.

Is any action going to be taken when members are found abusing the system? There are a couple of threads of "abuses" and I donīt see any particular action taken to discourage it.
Some of them have been tagged with negative trust by DT members. As it is not against the forum rules (except for sources) to trade merit, that is the only sanction available. I think that quite a few of the DT members are too busy arguing amongst themselves to get involved at the moment. It doesn't really matter anyway as they will all run out of sMerit to abuse very soon if they haven't already.

I did that not to confuse myself in organizing while editing my reply to the post. It's 5 lines of that having diff. long links. I hope it's okay. I don't understand what the point of using the link shortener is if you also post the whole link as text but as far as the rules are concerned the only problem is if you redirect via an advert. Also, you might want to consider that a lot of people will be very suspicious of link shorteners especially on a Bitcoin forum where we all have to be on guard against phishing links and malware. Personally, there's no way I would click one on this forum.

Good day Sir mprep, I just want to know if using google url shorteners is prohibited and against the rules ? Because sometimes it's very messy when posting links like facebook links specially when participating ICO bounty campaigns.
5. No link shortners that requires users to view an ad. So as long as you don't direct via an advert you can use link shorteners. However there is another way to tidy up your posts using the BBCode. [url=https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DV6Jt_pW4AIeA1W.jpg]Cartoon[/url]

I never know that freedogeco.in still exist, its been so long time to have player still playing this ago. If I not mistake, I do not play their doge for almost 2 years yet now someone posting about this again. Are you mean this site is still claimable? I believe most of the players are moving to the freebitco.in and left the doge version. Are we still can get the payout from there?
Yes, it's still there. They reduced the max payout from $200 to $150 ages ago but it's still paying. They did recently announce that they are going to add several altcoins and rebrand freebitco.in soon. When that happens doge will be merged in and there will only be one site.
