4941  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OpenBazaar founder: We aren't the next Silk Road on: June 25, 2015, 08:51:53 PM
I think they're probably the next evolutionary step from Silk Road. Any darknet market will likely have to be decentralised in the future to actually remain operational or to give its users faith that the admins or some other entity isn't going to run off with their money at some point.

This must be completely decenterlized for it to work or Merica will shut it down.

Well that's the idea with desentralised markets  Cheesy.
4942  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Apple Removes All American Civil War Games From the App Store Showing the Flag on: June 25, 2015, 07:37:06 PM
I can't stand this level of PC-pandering. It's ridiculous. If you're offended by a game or anything in it - don't play the game. Problem solved. And what's next? Removing Shindler's List and Inglorious Basterds from itunes? I love how they've been fine with the confederate flag up until a couple of weeks ago.
4943  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: DirectBet Soccer Prediction Game *** Win Free Bets ! *** Free to Enter ! on: June 25, 2015, 06:15:22 PM
2-2

DirectBet - shouldn't the score prediction be within the normal 90 minute game? That's how it works at regular fiat bookies?

Yeah, I think it should. Don't know why they don't do it this way to be honest.

4944  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTB] Forum accounts full, sr, hero or legendrary on: June 25, 2015, 04:31:22 PM
You could use an escrow to check the quality of posts beforehand. I'd trust someone like Quickseller to do this.

See no that's called shady business practices. You don't buy something and use and escrow to test the product with intent to lie to the escrow handler and get your money back. Remind me never to buy anything or sell anything to you.

What the hell are you talking about? Where does lying come into it and how is it shady? You use an escrow to make sure you're getting what you asked for and I don't see how it's any different from other escrowed deals here. Without one you have to give op the name of the account which he could then turn down or expose your account or worse someone will get scammed or not get what they asked with. My proposition is the opposite of shady and protects both the buyer and the seller. The op wants an account with decent posts and the buyer wants to make sure he gets his money. An escrow would likely be used anyway to conduct the deal so I have no idea what you're on about.
4945  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTB] Forum accounts full, sr, hero or legendrary on: June 25, 2015, 04:14:16 PM
How much are you willing to pay, op? State your prices and I'm sure you'll get some interest but accounts with higher quality posts/history will go quite a bit higher than others.

1. Quality posts - I will be checking the account posts precisely and thoroughly.
ps: not trolling or increasing my post count. this is a serious, self moderated thread (anti bullcrap)

Not looking to sell , but I doubt people here advertise accounts that they wish to sell before the trade.

4946  Economy / Goods / Re: ★ Vaporizers ★ Cannabis Seeds ★ Smoking Accessories ★ Botanical Herbs ★ on: June 25, 2015, 04:07:49 PM
Quote
Although this item is widely described as a vaporizer caution must be taken to ensure that herbs do not combust. The herbs sit directly in contact with the heating plate therefore the unit can produce smoke. Please be advised of this before purchase

Are there actually any pen vapes that do what they're supposed to? Seems most of them apparently suffer from this and it kinda defeats the purpose of a vape when this happens.

What portable one would you recommend for around $150?
4947  Economy / Economics / Re: Banks will adapt to disruptive impact of new technologies like Bitcoin on: June 25, 2015, 03:39:42 PM
They'll have to adapt to survive. If there's ways they can massively save money they're not just going to let them pass up. There's already several banks looking into how they can adopt blockchain technology but that likely won't do anything positive for bitcoin as they'll use their own systems or a third party company, but bitcoin will still remain as a decentralized alternative outside of the mainstream.
4948  Other / Meta / Re: Trust not displayed in "Beginners and help" on: June 25, 2015, 03:32:02 PM
I agree that it should be shown everywhere. What is the downside of showing it in every thread/sub?

Because the argument is it's not relevant to some boards. Does having negative feedback effect your posts/contributions in Politics and Society? Nope, but it might if others let it effect their opinion on that user though even though it shouldn't given the circumstance.
4949  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Understanding how bitcoin works is IRRELEVANT on: June 25, 2015, 02:42:31 PM
I've been saying for ages all we need to do is to get people to start using and supporting bitcoin.  Just make cool platforms and gimics to bring in the mainstream donks.

Such as? It's obvious and easy to say that all we need to do is get people using it, but it's not as easy as that and most people have no real need or desire, especially for a currency that could lose them money (though the opposite is also obviously true).
4950  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Understanding how bitcoin works is IRRELEVANT on: June 25, 2015, 02:23:57 PM
The author is right, Bitcoin has reached a point in which you don't really have to understand it's underlying technology to be able to use it. There are online services that help with the usage of Bitcoins and mobile wallets that are secure enough and simple enough for daily usage by a non-techie Smiley

Using bitcoin isn't even that difficult, maybe only slightly more daunting than using online banking or something. I've always said there's not that much difference between using Paypal and blockchain.info. In fact, I think bc.info even has more security features than PP. Wallets and services will only get easier and more secure over time too.

I think it's not irrelevant if you want to have some sort of privacy. Bitcoin's privacy is extremely weak for someone that has absolutely no idea how it works. If Joe were to make public his real identity attached to an address for donations or whatever, that address would be tied to him forever unless he knows ways around it.
Bitcoin needs work to make privacy more easy for newbies so they don't need to know all the technical details.

True, but those people likely don't care too much about privacy in the first place as if they did they would likely already be more careful and aware of how to keep themselves anon.
4951  Other / Meta / Re: Trust not displayed in "Beginners and help" on: June 25, 2015, 01:59:58 PM
I think it could be valuable in Beginners and Help for sure. It's probably not uncommon for deals or scams to originate there. Lots of naive newbs looking to make (or lose) some money etc. It's not really relevant in the others but can sometimes help you identify trolls easier (a lot of accounts seem to start trolling once they get neg-bombed).
4952  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Selling Senior Acc 266 Activity 400+ posts on: June 25, 2015, 01:55:08 PM
Am I allowed to bump this thread?

Once every 24 hours. Please remove previous bumps when you make a new one. You should also state an asking price.
4953  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Cost of Bitcointalk Accounts. on: June 24, 2015, 08:06:27 PM
They're wildly different because there is no fixed price and many variables. If someone has a just turned hero with crappy posts and can't sign a message then that will go for much less than if someone has a higher activity hero with great posts and can sign a message from an old address. Sometimes people want a quick sale and will accept the first lowball offer they get whereas if they had a little patience they will likely be able to sell it for much more.
4954  Economy / Services / Re: Earn Bitcoins by doing Captchas! on: June 24, 2015, 02:47:54 PM
I cannot fathom why anyone would do this. Wouldn't you get more from faucets? You'd certainly get more with just a few posts on a signature campaign that's for sure.
4955  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain on: June 24, 2015, 02:39:25 PM
Why would anything happen? Bitcoin will go on regardless and the other companies will use their own blockchains and tech. If they plan to use our Bitcoin blockchain in some way then I'm sure they'll have to pay the appropriate fees.
4956  Other / Meta / Re: Activity & new membergroup limits on: June 24, 2015, 02:35:06 PM
I didn't say all members, but it's logical as time goes on that Legendary will become more and more common and as common as Hero is now and the longer time passes this becomes even more so. If the new ranks double in time every time they're added it will be fine though you could make the existing ranks longer to achieve.
4957  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Los Angeles Man Claims KFC Served Him Fried Rat on: June 24, 2015, 02:27:38 PM
lab test confirms 'deep-fried rat' is actually chicken Cheesy
the guy who was raising a big stink about it all over facebook and threatening to sue over it refuses to comment now and removes any posts asking about it

It would be funny if he got sued for defamation or something.  No idea why he or KFC bothered to send it off for testing. A visual (or a quick taste test if you're feeling brave) would have sorted it.
4958  Other / Meta / Re: How to tell if a forum account has been banned? on: June 24, 2015, 02:20:50 PM
Badbear didn't seem too keen on it last time it was brought up. I'm on the fence. Would be helpfully in some ways and not in others.
4959  Other / Meta / Re: Activity & new membergroup limits on: June 24, 2015, 02:18:35 PM
New ranks can be added when and if neccesary. Eventually Legendary will become as common as Hero so something will likely have to change.
4960  Economy / Services / Re: Solve Captchas for Bitcoins on: June 22, 2015, 05:59:23 PM
I cannot imagine anyone at all doing this. It's likely not even worth the time to someone in the third world. They'd be better of spending their time trying to earn money other ways. I'm not sure how many people would be able or want to fill in 1000 captchas an hour.

Up to 0.55$ per 1000 captchas (about 1 hour of work)
Payments per 1000 captchas depends on time of day.
So you are willing to pay people $0.55 per hour to solve captchas for you? I can't imagine the kind of people who would be willing to do this. If someone was part of a paid signature campaign they could simply post a few times per hour, get paid more then that and have some level of intellectual stimulation.

They only need to post once on some campaigns. I get $0.34 per post on this one and if you're a Senior/Hero then it's much much more even double in some cases.
