I read a short story called Southern Fried Rat as a kid and this has always been a fear of mine hahaha

Quote

LOS ANGELES, California -
Los Angeles security guard Devorise Dixon claims KFC served him a deep-fried rat, but KFC believes Dixon is deceiving the public.

Dixon said he bought a three-piece box of chicken tenders at a KFC in Los Angeles and found what he said was a deep-fried rat instead.

"It was very nasty. I spit it out. I looked down at my hand and I realized that it was in the shape of a rat with a tail and everything in it," Dixon said.

...After KPRC published this story on click2houston.com, KFC  reached out to KPRC and sent us this official statement:

"A customer has made a serious claim against KFC and refuses to cooperate in the investigation. The images the customer originally posted do not include this second angle because it clearly shows it's a piece of hand-breaded white meat chicken. Based on this, and the fact that he refuses to allow anyone to see the product, we are left to believe that he intended to deceive the public with this hoax and we are considering all options."

Dixon said he went back to the restaurant with photos and his receipt and said the manager "freaked out," apologized and offered him a free meal, which he declined.

Dixon said he is getting a lawyer.

These pictures don't prove that it's a rat or a mouse. Is there fur or organs or leg bones in there? It just looks like a freaky fried piece, it was probably stuck at the bottom of the fryer to produce that tail-like loop.

Everyone's looking for some fame, I think this falls into that category.

Probably the healthiest meal that burger-eating lard-assed yank has ever eaten (joke btw).

Funny how he still took a bite out of it, looks like he bit off the head.

Best looking fried rat I've ever seen. No fur, no claws, not even legs. I bet that tail was crunchy and good, Tasted like chicken, most likely.

In addition to the fact that he refuses to get it analyzed properly, someone posted an analysis of the images on Imgur which seems to disprove the rat theory:

This. It just looks like a slightly odd-shaped piece of chicken thigh or breast to me. It should be pretty easy to tell whether or not it's actually a rat if the outer coating was removed and if the insides were dissected which it seems he didn't even bother to do. Even though it's possible that some of the fur might be burnt off from the deep frying process, I would still expect to see some traces of hair at least, as well as obvious bones, tissues, organs, limbs, etc. that would be pretty unmistakeable to confuse for being chicken.

Have not eaten a rat personally but I guess they could be decent nourishment. Not sewer rats though, those fed on grains mostly. It´s just another protein.

Yup... just looks like chicken to me. If it was fried rat, then instead of the white color, we would have seen brown or dark red meat. I agree with you. He is probably looking for some cheap fame. I am not a big fan of the KFC, and their chicken which are loaded with antibiotics and chemicals. But this time, I believe that it is the customer who is going over the board.

Yeah, the -Jesus on a roll and his mommy´s likeness on a sandwich- racket dried up a while ago so they have to try something else to get attention.

Today a rat next an elephant lol, people nowadays complain all sort of made up stories to try and force these big companies to pay them compensation lol.

What's the first thing you do when you are finally handed your order? study the shape or smell everywhere? No, you put it in your mother fucking mouth. The lad did the same thing and spit out when he felt it isn't alright. He wasn't looking for fame, man. If it was, he'd make a big scene out of it. He just filed a report. That's good.

Pretty sure most people inspect their food at least somewhat before throwing it down their mouths (even if it's just a quick glance and if you aren't then you probably should). Would you really eat a fried swatsika made out of broken glass if it was fried and you pulled it out of a box? Just picking that piece up alone would feel likely feel different and the fact that it has a long tail-looking thing dangling off it would surely catch your attention. Oh, and it's clearly not actually a rat though it does look like one.

I wonder how elephant meat might taste, and if it is healthy. But rat meat? Man, that's messed up. There could be more to that too, yknow. What if the rat entered the oven by mistake? Makes us question the cleanliness of the place. Whatever conclusions drive down, if this is really rat meat, KFC might go down real bad.

Well, here is the outcome of the DNA test lmao on the "rat" -

Quote
Last week the Internet recoiled in horror when a man in California posted a video of what appeared to be a deep-fried rat that had been served to him at a local KFC. However, it seems that KFC got hold of this alleged rodent and ran some DNA tests on it and found that it really was just a piece of chicken that happened to be oddly rat-shaped.

KFC tells ABC News that last week “the customer’s attorney turned over the product in question for testing at an independent lab, and the results officially confirmed what KFC knew all along — the product was chicken and not a rat as he claimed.”

American chicken middlemen are sending chickens to China for processing. When the chickens come back, they are labeled in tiny print that they have been processed in China, but most people never see this.

Why is this being done? Two reasons. The first is that it is cheaper to do (a little) than processing the chickens here in America. The second is that food from other countries doesn't need to be labeled with all the ingredients.

What did the guy really get? If it was chicken processed in China, it could have been part rat... or just about anything else, as long as it had a little chicken in it.

Lol and I'm curious what he will do after that. He won't get any compensation if he is lose, then got blame by citizen, and maybe can't be accepted to eat in KFC again. The worst thing is, he must pay his lawyer lol. Didn't get money, but must spend his money. I guess he will try harder next time.

Even if kfc gets to the bottom of this, they would twist and turn the story because the truth might turn out too expensive for them. There are cctvs, employees, a lot of sources through which information can be gained but if it isn't out yet, its not coming out boys.

It would be funny if he got sued for defamation or something.  No idea why he or KFC bothered to send it off for testing. A visual (or a quick taste test if you're feeling brave) would have sorted it.

I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be a rat, but on the other hand, this could be just another case of a greedy man trying to score a lawsuit against a multi-million company.
