S2 and S3 is paid for.
Everything else is currently reserved awaiting payment.

My estimated internal cost would also not enclude NRE such as engineering cost etc.

I was extrapolating from AM/Bitmain figures, and calculating at a high production volume (which might not be applicable here).

The hashfast chip also needs a quite expensive PCB, but is it more expensive per GH than other miners?

At the end of the day the chip is quite potent, but needs expensive peripherals to work properly.
Yeah, I was just talking about the per unit cost. I have the board files and full BOM for that board. The PCB is expensive, and the BOM costs are quite high on the Yoli board, even in a reasonable volume. The board cost for the HF chips is higher; because the current density is so much higher you need many layers of heavy copper.

But at the same time, you only need 2 PCBs per TH and its a small area. Doesn't it work itself out?
4943  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 15, 2014, 06:27:59 PM
Sorry for the repeated question SP TECH, but I need to make a decision.
I have 208V power (three phase 460 transformed to 208V).   Your post about SP30 having a programmed cutoff at 210, is that a hard number?   Will 208V see lower results?   If so, how much lower?   I can re-tap each of the transformer windings to get it up to 220V, but there is a cost to that and I need to figure out if it is worth it.
Zvisha will reply on Sunday.

208 is a bit low, and might have some small performance impact (~2%) - it really depends on exact voltage.
We will investigate next week to see if we can improve that.

My Units are not showing any noticeable impact on 208, Im happy to let you remote in and play with the settings if that will help Smiley

Is 208V the closest you'll get if you have a 3 phase supply? You ever get any problems with other components?

4947  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S2 Setup [HD] on: August 15, 2014, 08:24:19 AM
What FW version do you use? Is this problem exist with latest Bitmain FW? Have you tried it?

How to manilulate the firmware for example?
Hmm... System->Upgrade->Flash new firmware image
Of course i did... (=

Still the same problem!

You using your own SD card or the original?
4948  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Ant S1 : Mining for Heat on: August 15, 2014, 06:02:15 AM
Try lubricating your fan's shaft. This may reduce friction and provide more efficient electricity use (at least for the fans) as well as less noise.

Fans are ~2W, of which almost all is mechanical work to the air. Opening the seal on the shaft will do 10x the damage 'lubricating' the shaft will do.
4949  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KnC Neptune WARNING on: August 15, 2014, 06:01:17 AM
Sure. There is no direct proof of their fault.
They cut corners. They save a ton of money by putting their customers at risk.

That statement right there is contradictory and will get you sued by an aggressive company. You better hope they're not on here.
4950  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: who is currently manufacturing miners? on: August 15, 2014, 05:54:30 AM
All they need before starting to sale their device is to send in to someone for testing and review.

Not mandatory to Dogie.  Grin
Dogie has a nice guide (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=456691) where he talks about companies trustworthiness, a lot of those companies are currently making ASICs.

@Dogie

Are you planning to test the T1 Box ?

Will do if I can get hold of a unit.

Everyone in the gridseed groupbuy received their miners or a refund except your brother,

I don't think that really works as a defence, you're admitting a debt but saying its his [his brother's] fault you owe him money. It doesn't stop you owing him the money.

I owe him his miners but am unable to fulfil it because he is withholding his shipping address. Thus I can not provide his miners and for that reason I am auctioning them off and will send the proceeds made from the auction to him as that is the only way I see that will work in this situation.

If he bought 3 btc of miners and never received anything, isn't it simpler (and the legal solution) to refund his original payment? It doesn't matter what he bought if the transaction wasn't completed, its null and is cancelled.

I don't have his money anymore it was sent to the manufacturer for his units. All I have are his units. The transaction to the manufacturer was completed and his units have been sitting here for months waiting for him to provide his postage details.

All of that is irrelevent unfortunately. Having 10,000 of sales to consumers myself, the seller loses out in almost all situations due to consumer law - including this one.

All that is going to come from this is he is going to send you a statement of debt, you're going to dispute it on the grounds that he didn't give you a shipment address, its going to go to small claims court, there will be a judgement in his favour and you'll have wasted even more time AND the money.
4954  Other / Meta / Re: What is the forum's policy on blatant software license abuse? on: August 15, 2014, 04:10:23 AM
It takes a special kind of asshole to take something alike open-source, then violate the alike provision presumably because they're worried someone will do exactly what they did.

Name&shame sounds like a good course of action. These companies are clearly untrustworthy and should have relevant accounts labeled as such. I don't think bans are really necessary or deletions favorable. I'd be worried about unintended consequences of a hard policy vs. a "decentralized" community response via the trust system. The more exposure the company has on the forum with an extremely negative trust rating, the better.

I'm having it at the moment, everyone is using my pictures willy nilly without even attempting to credit me (which only covers for non profit), ask for permission or license. I've tried to avoid stopping to watermarks but... Searched for ONE image last night and came up with 92 infringements.

Pictures. It seems a coincidence you have a significantly higher failure rate than everyone else, and are also using home made cables and connectors which set on fire.

I run everything else on the same cables and same power supplies - it was never a problem before KnC Neptune.

That doesn't automatically make it their fault.

Name and shame is at least a start. I'll be adding software related stuff to the manufacturer trustworthiness thread in a future revision, so we can work on what is useful information (unscored) and what could be scored.

*snip*

Seriously, can you stop posting every one of your posts over 20 lines, you do it every where for no reason. Its so annoying as it makes your posts take up so much space for no reason. You don't need to break the line twice when you use a full stop, simply add a space before you start the next sentence please.
