4961  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What is the ROI for a stable coin? on: August 14, 2021, 08:48:52 PM
I think that because stablecoins are pegged to currencies like the US dollar chances are it behaves like one, and its ROI should be measured in pip value like currencies behave on the forex markets, but don't take my word for it. I believe stablecoins dont have a decent ROI hence just avoid them unless you still skeptical about them and how to make money out of them.
4962  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: October and December are the months of Crypto ??? on: August 14, 2021, 07:40:25 PM
Between October and December people tend to spend more as we have Thanksgiving holiday, Black Friday and others all in the preparations of Christmas,  so how do these months help crypto when most people will be spending their money to buy presents for their loved ones?? I hope am wrong and would like to see these months to be the bullish periods for bitcoin.

History will repeat itself, every end of december prices go up and depending on how much venture capital adds to its holding amount. I hope Telsa doesn't sell its bitcoins later this year.
I hope you are right mate.
4963  Bitcoin / Press / [2021-08-14] A bunch of MIT students got $100 of free bitcoin in 2014 – some go on: August 14, 2021, 07:32:16 PM
A bunch of MIT students got $100 of free bitcoin in 2014 – some got rich, some wasted it on sushi

Jeremy Rubin was a sophomore studying computer science and electrical engineering when he decided that he wanted to give every undergraduate student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology $100 worth of bitcoin.

Seven months later – armed with half a million dollars in donations from alumni and bitcoin enthusiasts – Rubin offered to do just that, and 3,108 undergrads took him up on it.

popular cryptocurrency wasn't quite so popular, trading at around $336. Had all recipients of this free bitcoin let their crypto wallets sit idle, the "MIT Airdrop" collective would have been $44.1 million richer by today's prices.

But some students didn't hold on.

Researchers tracing the project, including Christian Catalini, now co-creator of the Diem stablecoin project initiated by Facebook, say that 1 in 10 cashed out in the first two weeks. By the end of the experiment in 2017, 1 in 4 had cashed out. The experiment creators stopped tracking transactions among the cohort after that.

Van Phu, now a software engineer and co-founder of crypto broker Floating Point Group, is still kicking himself for spending a lot of his bitcoin on sushi.

"One of the worst things and one of the best things at MIT is this restaurant called Thelonious Monkfish," said Phu. "I spent a lot of my crypto buying sushi."

Phu wasn't alone in hemorrhaging his virtual coins at this campus dining hotspot.

Quantitative trader Sam Trabucco, who also took part in the experiment, estimated that half the people he knew spent their crypto spoils on fish.

"It was the only restaurant in Cambridge that was accepting bitcoin at the time, and it was a pretty popular spot," he said. The restaurant has since changed its name and retired its bitcoin payment policy.

I wonder If there are any ex students still holding their  bitcoin after receiving the free coins and not forgetting the restaurant that retired bitcoin payments.
4964  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Marketing a new exchange on: August 14, 2021, 05:42:47 PM
Hello Bitcoin Folks!

I am working on a p2p trading platform that lets you trade altcoins, including small cap coins too. This is our goal at least.
Congratulations hope this works out for you.

We're facing some resistance with marketing in mainstream platforms like reddit, twitter, youtube.
It seems that none of these sites want anything to do with us unless we have a minimum 10K ad spend per quarter.
Am going to side with what these platforms are requesting for, running an exchange is different from other projects and as you know there is personal data that will need to be collected and the alike so they need to build some form of trust with its community.

Quote
The problem is that we're still in prototype stage and don't even know if we're targeting the right audience.
Prototype stage then that's has good as beta stage and not yet ready to go out.

What is the best option in this case? Should we just bite the bullet and try it out, or should we continue community building?
Community building is the best way to grow your presence in a more authentic way and without pumping numbers.
4965  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Exposed to children on: August 14, 2021, 05:30:56 PM
The problem is not the children, even if parents were to be strict to keep an eye on their kids they will always find ways to do it behind their parents.  I think gambling companies promosing to pay however can market their products to the world could be paid for their service is the origin of the problem and we all know that we humans are prone to error and temptation and this should be the responsibility of gaming companies not to expose kids to these services.

4966  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum is rising, Is this really the effect of ethereum's London hard fork? on: August 14, 2021, 01:46:17 PM
I can not write that off, in the cryptocurrency world it's the small things that make the difference,  if a simple tweet can make price to react to it what can stop a soft fork which  is more technical from influencing the price??
If you ask me I see the London fork being one of the reasons price of Ethereum is being bullish right now and SECs interest in crypto regulation could be another contributing factor.
4967  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: August 14, 2021, 01:34:36 PM
Manchester United vs Burnley I like what I saw today, and this should be a statement to say they are ready to challenge for the league. Pogba  was unexpectedly on top of things getting himself involved in 3 goals scored so did the Portuguese Mr Bruno Fernandes who scored a hattrick for his personal accolades continuing where he left from last season.  Should United continue with their performance I expect another top 4 finish to come their way.
4968  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: August 14, 2021, 11:50:38 AM
Arsenal made a total of 22 shots, 4 of which were on-target shots. But could not score a single goal. On the other hand, Brentford managed to score 2 goals with only 3 on-target shots. From this, it is easy to guess how weak Arsenal's forward is. A horror awaits Arsenal next season. I wouldn't be surprised if they can't be in the top 10 of the points table.
Arsenal is just a disappointment honestly,  am not even their fan but I feel what their fans feels,  no one will count how many shots they had on target as long as they lost to new comers Brentford their game plan is now unknown,  the team is still in a mess and am seeing Arteta's job might be on the line should these results continue.
4969  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anything like excess gambling on: August 14, 2021, 06:28:06 AM
I have watched several twitch streams of people gambling and some channels that I follow the guys are good at what they do and play for quite a long time and at the end of the day they don't always win but overall have remained profitable.

Anything like excess gambling
Maybe yes maybe no, If you are going to gamble for a long time and not be profitable then we could say that's excess gambling which changes to chasing your losses but if you win most of your games that's never going to be excess gambling.
4970  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: August 13, 2021, 07:04:24 PM

Subs: Gunnarsson, Goode, Wissa, Ghoddos, Dervisoglu, Bidstrup, Bech, Roerslev

Arsenal: Leno, Chambers, White, Mari, Tierney, Xhaka, Sambi, Smith Rowe, Pepe, Martinelli, Balogun.

Subs: Hein, Bellerin, Cedric, Maitland-Niles, Holding, Tavares, Elneny, Saka, Nelson

4971  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Don't buy "wallet.dat" files with lost passwords; EXCHANGE THEM. on: August 13, 2021, 06:56:36 PM
Why would anyone want to buy a wallet.dat file when the owners failed to remember the wallet password?

Quote
Your "wallet.dat" file should NOT have recent outgoing transactions.
How do you even confirm this information to say it meets your requirements of not recent transaction going on on that wallet

Quote
- Your "wallet.dat" file should NOT be on the list of the ones I already have
Besides file size would you be able to differentiate the two files? What would stop someone from just renaming a file to wallet.dat  or just providing you with an old wallet without giving you without  a password.

You know what just stay away, simple as that.
4972  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which altcoin will be your favorite this season? on: August 13, 2021, 06:31:30 PM
Am not keen on finding new coins I would call my gems,  am thinking it's best to concentrate on a few coins and see how they are performing unlike diversifying in a long list of coins which might end in losses for some.
But my portfolio could have some of the popular coins around such as Binance coin(BNB), Chain link,  Crypto coin CRO and others I won't reveal  Tongue
4973  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: August 13, 2021, 06:13:08 PM
The first game of the season is between Valencia and Getafe tonight. They both had a similar season. Valencia ended two places ahead of Getafe (at the 13th place). This time, I wonder which team will start the season better than the other. I feel myself closer to a Valencia victory. But it will be a really close game I think. Valencia may have a big difficulty in winning this one.
Of the two teams I will judge them based on the preseason matches and am impressed with how Getafe has performed in their friendly matches and very disappointed with how Valencia has been playing,if this continues that 13th spot they secured at the end of the season could get worse and need a solution to their problems fast before all teams settle.

My prediction: Valencia 0-1 Getafe
4974  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: {Boxing} Manny Pacquiao vs Yordenis Ugas on: August 13, 2021, 03:29:22 PM
Pacquiao was set to fight Spence late this month but because of a retinal tear he had in one of his eyes the fight could not go on which was unavoidable. But Pacquiao got someone else to fight in the form of Yordenis Ugas which could be his last has you all might know that Manny is now into politics and presidential elections are closing in and should he win them this might be the last time we seeing the Philippine.
4975  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: It is not easy to make money in cryptocurrency on: August 13, 2021, 03:18:47 PM
Money is not suppose to be easy to find that's for sure if it was it would not be able to hold any value, same applies with bitcoin if finding these coins was easy it's most likely that it would have never held any value.
Which is the same role the mining difficulty plays, making it difficult to find them so as to give the coins the value they have today.
Btw the there isn't much of a difference between fiat and crypto besides its regulation but being scarce is an important feature for any money.
4976  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't panic on: August 13, 2021, 01:38:33 PM
You will agree with me that If you were a first time forex trader and entered a trade for the first time, you will agree that if you bought an asset and candles shouldn't that price is still going down (bearish) its highly likely that you would close your buy and open a sell order which is evidence to show that emotion and heard mentality could be at play. So to overcome this let's spend more time on these charts to farmilize ourselves with how price behaves and build confidence too.
4977  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: another bullrun before 2021 ends on: August 13, 2021, 01:19:48 PM
I personally believe that there will be another btc bull run and alt run before 2021 ends.  what you guys think about it?

btc to 80000 or 120000 USD
A bullrun is going to happen and these will always come every that comes by, and as for bitcoin going to 80000 to 120000 USD...well we are are not far from it and bitcoin is very much capable of reaching these price predictions in a blink of an eye but something has to happen to make market bullish like new investors entering the market and pumping cash into it,but for now let's keep watching the markets.
4978  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: August 13, 2021, 11:28:28 AM
The Premier League finally makes its return after a long wait, it opens with Arsenal FC traveling to Brentford in the first match of the league. As always Arsenal is expected to be the favourites  over newly promoted  side Brentford, and looking at the build up towards these games Arsenal has had a better performance in its friendly games and also scored more goals than their opponents. ARSENAL  is Expected to continue their good form and I am going with Arteta and team for the win..
4979  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Europa League Discussion Thread on: August 13, 2021, 08:52:03 AM
You were really close to win but it was a near miss. HJK Helsinki destroyed their opponent 3-0. Galatasaray also defeated St Johnstone with a 4-2 score. But Mura managed to beat Zalgiris away and promoted to the next round. It must be sad to lose like this. Maybe you can make up for it next time.
Yeah, really disappointed about Zalgiris loss. Especially because Mura was beatable opponent and they didn't played better.
Are these stadiums still getting fan's or they are as empty as they where during this pandemic because today having the home advantage carries no  meaning or impact!
Am equally disappointed with how Zalgirls played because I thought they would carry the day but this was always going to be a difficult match because first leg was tough. One thing was predictable,  this game was going to be low scoring but winner was going to come from anywhere but favoring the home team.
4980  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / 'White Hat' hacker has returned most of the stolen $600 million crypto tokens on: August 13, 2021, 08:33:06 AM
'White Hat' hacker has returned most of the stolen $600 million crypto tokens, says Poly Network

The hackers behind one of the biggest ever digital coin heists that targeted cryptocurrency platform Poly Network have returned nearly all of the $610 million-plus they stole.

Referred to as Mr White Hat by the Poly Network, the "ethical hackers" who generally aims to expose cyber vulnerabilities, upon the return of the funds, has "transferred to the multi-signature wallet" controlled by the hacker and the Poly Network team.

The only remaining tokens to be returned are the $33 million in tether stablecoins frozen earlier in the week by cryptocurrency firm Tether, Poly Network said.

"The repayment process has not yet been completed. To ensure the safe recovery of user asset, we hope to maintain communication with Mr. White Hat and convey accurate information to the public," Poly Network tweeted.

https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/cryptocurrency/white-hat-hacker-has-returned-most-of-the-stolen-600-million-crypto-tokens-says-poly-network-7328431.html

I find this to be quite interesting, did Mr White Hat find it difficult to move or sell these tokens thought the Poly blockchain operates on interoperability. Could the hacker have found it difficult to exchange stolen cryptocurrency  for cleaner coins
