4981  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining taxes on: October 25, 2015, 01:46:16 AM
I don't claim anything.
Not worth it... unless you're mining half a Bitcoin a day, don't worry about it.
They're not worried about lil pissants... if you do mine more than that in a day, you're looking at more issues than just taxes.
If you do, you likely have a business and a chartered accountant.

it all depends on how ur farm is setup , im mining a good bit a day , but dont pay any taxes on it , i even get to write off the power bill for taxes

Can you explain more?  This seems far to good.   Writing off  the power bill on taxes but don't report earnings?

I would hate to get a audit like that.....

Seems OP was unavailable for a year.
Most of the deepnet sites were just scams.. Op, you might lost your coins :/ sorry for you

Before ever sending BTC to any place search it here on the forum.  There is a MASSIVE amount of good data on a lot of scams.  It will prevent a lot of them not all but alot.

Sorry to hear you lost them :/ most likely.
4983  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: October 25, 2015, 12:44:14 AM
Hi Guys,

Will the U3 work in a normal 4 port USB Hub (unpowered) ?

TMT

Yes it will.  I have used a "cheap" 4 port from amazon and had no issues's with it.  I have used it more then the powered one with it.

I still really need to do some testing with powered one now that I know I can run 1 U3 with no resting. Which it did recover from quickly so was not a issue really.
4984  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Placing machines outside on cold winter? -20 on: October 25, 2015, 12:41:32 AM
Remember that heat is also generated when there is any resistance.  If you have a weld and use different metals (aluminum/copper) you will run into other issues.

What are this issues?.

My copper wiring was connect "soldered" to aluminium cables at the end.

I love that your brave enough to do this.  It makes it a fun thread to read, and intresting as it's a different setup.

I think issues are shown in picture: http://imgur.com/a/jHCcZ  . That wiring scares the heck out of me personally.
4985  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Just wondering if anyone had luck at... on: October 25, 2015, 12:39:08 AM
NiceHash. I am in Nicehash Solo mining now to try my luck. Hope I get something, anything. I would be floored to get anything big or small, just anything. Gonna run my newly

set-up miner for a few days AT LEAST, just to see what happens. I know, good luck! I wonder if anyone here had any luck there and how many btc they got from it?

Are you talking about BTC solo?  I'm guessing so with where it's posted.

Personally I would suggest looking at CK's solo pool: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=763510.0 .  It has a history of hitting blocks and is known to be watched by one of probley the most trusted people in BTC mining.
4986  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: rumors of 3.5Th antminer S7 "lite" on: October 25, 2015, 12:32:33 AM
Lee is a major hoster in China so he gets okay info.

i also doubt that he would have posted that without permission; it looked like an approved info leak.

I don't know on this.  If you read any NDA is this game this is covered as info you cannot give out.  I would be very surprised if it was approved.

Is there any reason on him leaking is he out of current S7's?  I'm guessing his info is ok as-well but I think there was a bushiness reason he released it now with a timeline when no one else has said a peep.

I just cannot see a "approved leak".  I do like that the info came out but he is braver then I for leaking and chances are having a NDA with them.

Au contraire, i can easily see that. In fact, their competition (BW) just posted an interview where they claimed 0.87BTC/Th (or even per the 3.3 TH machine, which i think was a misquote as the price difference would be too big) for 1ph orders. Leaking some info without an official announcement is a perfect way to reduce the competitor hype without truly committing to any hard numbers. A trial baloon, if you will, aimed to reduce the competitors pre-orders (which are actually going on right now until Nov 11).
Besides, leaking now is harmless with regards to the current situation as there are no miners to purchase.

I always think most actions have a reason behind them.  If you look now the "source" bought 3PH he say's in avalon and want's to sell cloud mining

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=934581.msg12777226#msg12777226

So I suspect in coming day's there is a order he will do on cloud, and try to push antminer to a 2nd in sales compared to his cloud.   Which if you read he does not want to part out as he say's a RPI can control 60 units.

But we all know a RPI can be bought for 35 bucks and they could easily be parted.  So ... look at it on day's coming and you will see reason.  I mean it works out good for us since we got likely good info, but always a reason.

Edit noticed he said they ship on "31th Oct" so that gives him a shot at selling cloud before the Nov 10 date he said on the bitmain new S7.   So likely we will see a push for sales of the cloud during that time period.
4987  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 6 Vs Antminer S7, which one you will choose? on: October 25, 2015, 12:27:38 AM
Looks like we have a confirmed order:

sorry, went to beijing to meet avalon and bitmain for 3 days and donot visit forum during this time
...

Hi pcfli,

what news do you have from Avalon?

Regards.

spiccioli

As a matter of fact, i have ordered 3P hashrate from avalon, they told me they will ship them to me on 31th Oct. but i think it is hard for them to keep the word, as their chip still on the way to factory until yesterday.
however, it is not easy to sell avalon miner to your guys because they use one raspberrypi to control 60 unit miner=60*3.5=210T. so i prefer to sell those avalon as cloud mining hashrate.

So very interesting he will try to do "cloud".   I'm not sure I follow the part on not being easy to sell as we all know a RPI would be 35 bucks to buy and control one or two easy that hes hosting.

Just noticed he has date they will send... if true this means avalon should be public pretty soon I would think.  But they might fill orders of big datacenters like this first.
4988  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: October 25, 2015, 12:24:28 AM
Anyone happen to notice it reset like three hours?  Mine I have tried a few things to but seems like every 3 hours it resets, but starts back in like 30 second.

I'm thinking maybe try less U3's next I have 3 right now.  So thinking about trying 1 today.  Just wondered if anyone else has seen this.

Have not seen that, but have not run with U3's. Does it do it without a U3 attached?

Mine stopped again after 25 Mins at 300MHz, so have upped the Core Voltage to 0.68V which gives 0 HW errors, has now run for 40 Mins, we will see?

Rich

I will test without and with just one.  So far have been trying to use 3 as it does it very well.  It seems to work pretty good.

Just odd on the 3 hour reset.  So going to do some more testing of different variables.

I was able to confirm 3 hour reset stop's once down to one U3.  With 3 U3's mine reset's every 3 hour's. Tried a lot of different hubs, and before finding this out.

If someone else could please try 3 if they have it and see what happens.

There's a cron job setup to run a binary called cgminer-monitor every 3 minutes.

Code:
crontab -e
*/3 *  *   *   *     /usr/bin/cgminer-monitor

I'm not certain, but my guess is that the monitor application probably restarts cgminer if it detects a zombie. Perhaps it also reboots the R1 if cgminer restart doesn't work. I'm thinking that as you plug in more U3s you have a better chance of hitting a zombie..

You are correct about better chance but it actually did pretty good I think I had 2 zombies in 24 hours.  (How long zombie not sure as current pool does not have graph).  But with 3 it does it every time around 3 hours.

Thanks for finding that I was wondering what might be monitoring it seems it was behind  the scenes.    I have now went to 1 U3 and no problems with reset.
4989  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: earn bitcoins quickly on: October 25, 2015, 12:10:26 AM
Making bitcoin quickly is only possible with trading and gambling. Both requires investment and both are riskier for your initial investment too.

Lending out is also a good way of making bitcoins....

Lending is riskier like bitcoin trading....

not if they give you a proper collateral, it's all about collateral in lending, for example here a good collateral would be their account, if they default you just sell their account

instead trading need a deep experience, and even then you are at the mercy of bad luck

A lot don't have proper collateral.   For example the entire BTCJam takes no collateral but based on info.  Some here are based off past aswell.

It seems few have the proper collateral as if they did a lot of the time they would not  need the loan.

4992  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is mining dead ? on: October 24, 2015, 11:54:48 PM
Cloud companys are balancing their income with their fees, and always readjusting it up,till the moment you wont receive any ammount what had happened with genesis mining. If a new cloud shows off it would be great to have a small fee and we all being able to roi ,this will make more investment and more hash could be bought easy to upgrade.

You can't make a whole sector blanket statment based off one.   One of my things I do not invest is if a company say's lifetime, or forever.  Which genesis mining does.  Some might invest as I have seen a few go there.

But lifetime mining is just to good to be true.  All machines have a lifetime when they earn, and eventually they stop making money.  So  it is never lifetime.
4993  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the safest way to store Bitcoins? on: October 24, 2015, 05:03:22 PM
Store you wallet files into safe or go for paper wallets...

Paper wallets should really be stored in a fireproof safe.  If your doing paper wallets they are good against hacking, not against elements.

Even a bank security box is very good tool to use to store paper, or usb wallets.
4994  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to earn Bitcoins? on: October 24, 2015, 05:01:02 PM
mining if you have free electric Tongue

Free electricity doesn't mean it's profitable. You're burning up your video card/CPU at the same time. Factor in those costs.

when i was instamining alt in the past, it was basically with free electricity, because i was mining for 5 min and then repeat for another coin, and it was everything but not profitable

also if well cooled, usually custom gpu are the best, you can be assured that your gpu would last very long, and anyway gpu are not like asic, they have warranty...

This is one edge of gpu mining: the warranty of the card itself. Nowadays, altcoins mostly are GPU-dependent on their algorithms thus making GPU mining profitable (if in case these coins hit the exchanges). Also, a few cards would probably give you some profit if you mine a low-difficulty coin already out in the exchanges, it's also a plus if you got a cheap electricity.

Overclocking your GPU will void the warranty. I believe mining at 100% will as well. And sadly, nobody has lifetime warranties anymore, Sad.

Because we live in a consumerist economy where the more you consume the better the economy is, fallacy is on.

Regardless, the maximum warranty you get is 5 years here, and that is on TV and PC. For shitty small stuff, 1 maybe 2 years.

They make shittier items for the same price (shrink-flation), to hide the inflation in the economy. So no producer will assume the risk of warranty.

Blame the money printing Smiley

XFX used to give lifetime warranties... and even better, they could be TRANSFERRED twice to new buyers (significantly increasing the resale value of their cards). Sadly, they don't do that anymore, either.

They were a little late on changing during day's of my GPU mining it was all to easy.  Warranty covered a lot and most were in years.   Even if you OC'ed the crap out of they they still would replace if broken.

It really was to good to be true.  So I'm not surprised if they changed.
4995  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [SIDEHACK STICK] Official sales thread for everywhere not already covered on: October 24, 2015, 04:56:14 PM
Well actually right now I'm waiting on a guy that's owed me money since about the middle of September to stop screwing up the transfer process and/or disappearing for days or weeks and then I can funnel it directly into buying parts. I had planned on having that done already but, you know, this is what happens when I rely on other people to do things right.

Any luck getting the guy to pay up?  Or still having to chase him down for next step?
(And no rush was curious on status)

Just got an order in for 1 batch 3 also. Wonder why they're going in and out of stock like that.

Can someone who has updated to the new S7 firmware verify if overclocking is still available in the frequency selection please?

I suspect they have a certain amount set to sell.  And either they are counting ones in cart's or possibly ones that did not get paid in time might go back up.  As it's kinda common to see a few people show as unpaid even though they pay just don't get the confirmations.

That is my guess's on why.

Makes sense to me. Have you updated any of your S7s?

I hardly ever update Bitmain gear.  It has to be a huge feature or flaw huge for me to do it.  Ever since I bricked a S3 controller I was not a fan.

I kinda turned into the mindset if it is mining good... i leave it alone.
4997  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Article] Top 10 Benefits Bitcoin Provides New Users on: October 24, 2015, 03:33:52 PM
i don't like the six point, in the altcoin scene ipo usually refer to a scam, i think it will be the same with bitcoin

those crowfunding optino are never good imho

and anyway he is missing the only real benefit that people want to begin to use bitcoin on a massive scale, which is security, bitcoin isn't 100% reliable in that part

I would agree with this the other day I ran into one a IPO on here and they tried to grill me as I did not agree with it.  A lot of IPO's are horrible and made to make the owner money.

The one a few day's ago wanted to start a exchange, an altcoin, and a new solar panel build.  All wrapped up in one investment.  And was convinced this all was a great idea for them to let others invest in.   I saw big red flags.   Guess we will see in a week or two when they claimed launch if I was right on that one.

Lending out is also a good way of making bitcoins....

Lending is riskier like bitcoin trading....

Lending sounds great when you look at rates some are like those advance in paycheck .... just huge amounts of interest.  And if you work it out it appears great.

The problem is defaults sadly it seems that when someone defaults it's pretty hard to get money back.  Some go legal route, but a lot are just out of luck.  Just like BTCJam I would never trust it.  If they default on it all they do is give you the persons info.  So I suggest being very careful when loaning BTC out.

I reported two over in https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=14.0 spam from a variant of this name.

It makes no sense if you read the spam.  It's something lost tons due to btc.... btc is a failure.... but here a address to send me BTC.  Just makes no sense call it a failure then ask for BTC to build up what you lost.
