And that link with the binary didn't work for me.  OK I tried it again and it gives me ikRzdi.zip  that can't be right?
min.us doesn't like file names, it just eats it up  Huh anyways, if it contains namecoind.exe, and a dll, it's the right file.

Still my balance did not change. How can I check if my block has "matured"?
when you get a block, use "namecoin getinfo" to get the block count. note that number. when that number has increased by 100, your block will mature, and it will show up in your balance.
4985  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: A Few Questions on: May 04, 2011, 01:28:22 AM
Ah I see now. Thanks for explaning Cheesy So on the calculator what's the difference between average and 50%, 95%.
it's the amount of time needed to have x probability of getting a block. 50% means at that much time, there's a 50% chance of you winning a block.
4986  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: HD5850 @ 340Mhash/s on: May 04, 2011, 01:26:48 AM
indeed. it's currently the best $/MH card (beating 6990). 2 MH/1$
4987  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What should I expect if I'm solo mining? on: May 04, 2011, 01:24:45 AM
probablity of you finding a block:
Code:
Probability	Time
Average 33 days, 15 hours, 40 minutes
50% 23 days, 7 hours, 50 minutes
95% 100 days, 19 hours, 34 minutes

What should I expect if I'm solo mining?

I think that pool mining is more psychologically gratifying, especially if you can't mine 24/7/365. It really sucks to mine for a few days straight, get nothing, and then have to stop for whatever reason, to play a game, etc.
on the other hand, you could get 2 blocks on the same day Cool . Since the money i make via mining is minimal, i go solo mining. nothing to lose...
4988  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: A Few Questions on: May 03, 2011, 11:59:49 PM
So all the calculator "estimates" are wrong? ...then how long will it take me to actually get a block done lol.
they are estimates. Mining is a game of probability, so it's not necessarily wrong.

My client says a couple of blocks have been accepted but it still says I have a zero balance.

those "blocks" aren't necessarily yours. it's the block count of the entire network. If you did mine a block, it will take 100 confirmations (blocks appearing after it) for it to show up in your balance.

7 connections is enough.

Everyone talks about these transaction fees? how do i set up transaction fees and get payed?
they are included (if any) when you solve a block.

I think I get the same dll error, your kit running XP too?
I will take you up on your offer as soon as I can manage to run the Namecoin software on Windows without a .dll error.  I am actively working on fixing that so... >_>
I'm not getting any .dll errors. use this binary: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2882613/Namecoin/namecoind.exe , it has the dependencies statically linked, so no dll errors!

guys:
mining works exactly like in bitcoin. if you're getting an error in your miner, either you didn't configure /namecoin/bitcoin.conf properly, or it's a problem with the miner you're using.

for a table of hash speeds, look over here:

I'm interested in your GPUs.

They aren't "mining" GPUs - they're 2D workstation-type graphics cards in the nVidia Quadro line.  If you're still interested I'll send along model numbers/specs.  For any interested parties, since I'm discussing the GPUs, the DDR2 RAM I mentioned is 1GB sticks of varying speeds.
oh, nevermind then.

OK I have some stupid questions:

I am running Kubuntu 64 bit and installed the 64 bit binairies and set a rpcpassword in the bitcoin.conf file

I get the following with namecoin.d /getinfo

{
    "version" : 32100,
    "balance" : 0.00000000,
    "blocks" : 1318,
    "connections" : 5,
    "proxy" : "",
    "generate" : false,
    "genproclimit" : -1,
    "difficulty" : 512.00781274,
    "hashespersec" : 0,
    "testnet" : false,
    "keypoololdest" : 1304128826,
    "paytxfee" : 0.00000000,
    "errors" : ""
}

How do I get it to generate and how do I get a name coin address?

Then if I want to start GPU mining namecoins is there a guide or do I just use one of the bitcoin GPU mining guides and make a few changes?
any rpc miner that works with bitcoin should work with namecoin.
