501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: GIVEAWAY - Lifetime Palm Beach Confidential subscription on: January 30, 2018, 03:36:05 PM
Is it possible to block someone on here? Where you can't see there posts? I might have done that because I don't see a post from "The One Who Knocks" I don't want to block anyone and don't know how I could have but it appears that I might have?

Edit: Ok, I did some searching and it appears that I did not block him/her or at least that person is not on my block list. So I did a search of the name and I've found the last post they posted and was able to read it "Quote from: The One Who Knocks on January 21, 2018, 02:00:11 AM" But don't see his/her post here? Any suggestions as to why? Maybe I'm not searching the right information. Oh well I'll keep looking.

On the left bottom under the username is an "ignore" button.  It turns to "unignore" if you (accidentally) clicked it.  Click "unignore" to toggle back to "ignore".
502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bittrex remove many coins ???'' on: January 30, 2018, 03:32:19 PM
I really hope not many coins are affected.  I believe they already tightened the requirements since last year that is why their new coin listing is not as great as Binance's.

I already reduced my holdings in Bittrex by 90%...the remaining 10% are coins I cannot buy on the other exchanges I am a member of.  It should be easy to convert any of those that cannot be certified.

Bracing for impact!
503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How soon can TRON(TRX) Make $1 on: January 29, 2018, 10:36:16 PM
Am planning on investing Big in TRX, but I need opinions on how soon it can make $1 and above... Thanks

It is sinking like a rock...likely not to re-surface again.  I used to own some, made money of it but luckily I managed to get out at the right time.

There are much better prospects out there to invest in.
504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Ripple Recover? on: January 29, 2018, 09:31:50 PM
Since I am so new to crypto currencies, I wanted to get a more educated opinion.

I invested in Ripple during it's decline. I saw a spike shortly afterwards, but it looks to have a steady decline at this point. I know it has been around for a while but is it just going to continue dropping? I realize it is all speculative but I would appreciate some insight if you have any.

At $1.34, I still believe XRP is wayyyy overpriced.  For what it is, it doesn't belong in top 20 IMHO.  I know I will get lots of flack for it but that is my opinion.  If I have to put a price on it, I'd say $0.10 each.
505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which coins to invest? on: January 29, 2018, 08:00:58 PM
Hi, I was wondering if you guys could give me some advice on what coin I should invest in next. (About 50 to 100 pounds). I have narrowed it down to

1.ENG
2. WAVES
3. REQ
4. WTC

This is just based off me lurking this sub/reddit and checking out any coins that people seem to prefer and researching them individually, they all seem like good coins that I have faith in but I want to narrow it down to 2 if not 1 coin to invest in.
I currently have some BNB, NEO, ETH, XLM, ICX, VEN

Thanks

Great choices!  Looks like you know exactly what you are doing...go with your gut.  I think you don't need any help. Smiley

Of those choices...I'd go with; ENG, WTC, REQ, WAVES (in order of priority)
506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Icon ICX mainnet launch successful! on: January 29, 2018, 07:27:53 PM
Icon is a very good project, and in the future ICX will be in the top 5 I am sure of that, the great thing about this project is that its allready working together with AION and WANchain which will be listed on exchanges soon enough, WANchain will be one of the most succesfull projects in the future in my oppinion, it is Eth,BTC and XRP in one and ICON is working together with WAN allready so there are big things coming for this bright project.

...and here I am with my goal of spot #11.  It is a possibility but I try to be more realistic/conservative when I make my projections to lessen the chances of getting disappointed.

It is not dubbed as Korea's NEO or Ethereum for nothing.
507  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Icon ICX mainnet launch successful! on: January 29, 2018, 06:26:49 PM
It will rise up ICX price - what is the target to sell are you waiting?
Not sure...my plan is to start collecting my investment and some "gains" around $20 putting it around top 11 market cap wise.  It may place higher if the Koreans support it well.
508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Icon ICX mainnet launch successful! on: January 29, 2018, 05:40:15 PM
Holding this coin and excited of it's future... Cheesy

https://medium.com/helloiconworld/icon-mainnet-1-0-launched-d54b9132017e

Greetings from the ICON Team,

We are happy to announce that the maintenance check of our testnet, which started last December, has been completed, and today, January 24th, 2018 (18:25 UTC), we have successfully generated the Genesis Block of the ICON Mainnet and minted all ICX as planned. Thank you for your patience and support!

The mainnet launch is a giant step towards achieving our vision — Hyperconnect the World. Clearly, this is exciting news for our team and community. However, we want to remind you that this is only the beginning, there is a lot more works to be done, and subsequent announcements will follow. The ICON Team will continue to perform tests and monitor the network until the official opening of ICON Mainnet for ICX Wallet release.

DApps can now be developed on top of the ICON network and our team is already helping several DApp teams to launch new services. Although we are eager to showcase these projects today, the community needs to wait a bit longer. We will open the details on January 31st at the ICON Annual Summit: The Genesis. Although we can’t invite each and every one of our supporters to the event, we are planning to livestream and publish the details on our blog and newsletter.
509  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Did the January correction (fortunately) killed some useless sh**coins? on: January 29, 2018, 03:21:41 PM
Sadly, cryto market has short term memory.  Most only see the drastic rise/fall and forget what the market/coin did prior.

It won't surprise me if a pump and dump group resurrects these again later.

Also, for every good coin added, there are 10 or so bad/shitty coins added also.  It really comes down to each individual to do their own research and protect their money/investment.

Be VIGILANT!  Sad to say...but be CYNICAL as well.
510  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How to make money from staking? on: January 29, 2018, 07:27:32 AM
Thanks for posting this article. OK and NEO staking looks pretty fine to me Smiley

ok lets say i have 50 NEO's how much i'll get interest? any number of %

For NEO, you do not have to run your computer to stake...you just need to use their approved wallet.  It will generate GAS on its own at roughly 10% per annum rate (NEO to GAS ratio).  There are calculators online if you want to find out the exact rate.

ARK is a DPOS coin and once you put your coins in a private wallet and vote for a delegate, you earn ARK through your delegate at around 10% per annum also.  Last I checked mine, the return is closer to 12.6% if I recall correctly.  You do not need to run your computer to stake DPOS coins.

Just bought some at KuCoin
512  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Another judge my portfolio thread! on: January 28, 2018, 03:30:18 AM
No idea about bitbay, elix and blx but looks good over all.  Iam not a fan of xrp that is suggested.  Check the other portfolio threads for suggestions...not to be taken right away but to narrow your search.  Goodluck!
513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Did I diversify too much? on: January 28, 2018, 02:31:30 AM
Nothing wrong with that although none of those coins have much room for huge returns, perhaps this is the risk level you prefer.
Tron I feel is just as likely to go down in value vs go up, and if it does go up it won't be a huge multiplier.

What sort of returns are you expecting and do you have a period of time in mind?

I bought the most coins for holding long term ( min. 1 year ) but as you mentioned above with tron, I try to et rid of them as soon as it hits 0,1 again. Read through many opninions here and I guess I will let go my LTC as soon as its gets also a bit higher. I will try to diversify a bit more in small coins which yield great growth potential. Not quite sure which ones to pick here but at the moment I'm reading into Lamden (TAU) and doing some research. I was also thinking of putting even more in XRB, I really believe in raiblocks (nano soon) and feel comfortable with the idea of holdig more of it.

Like CalRon said, LTC is a good coin to hold.  Not massive gains but very stable.

Increase your VEN holding, get some ICX & ELF, discard TRON.

Waiting for TRON to recover may be bad...because it may never and the coin you are buying to replace it with may spike up.  At least now you are selling it at a discount but you are also buying another coin at a discount.

515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Did I diversify too much? on: January 27, 2018, 03:04:09 AM
this is one of the worst portfolios i have ever seen

why are you in crypto? to lose your money in a crash? you have nothing that can go x50.

i actually make x50 on some of the coins you are holding but i already sell them.

if you want something with potential buy metaverse, spacechain, iostoken, tnt, titanium blockchain, zoin (privacy) .....

those are coins that can go x50 or more...... and those coins will not lose much if there is a crash like the big ones....

you buy really stupid.... you only can lose with your portfolio.... unless you think crypto market can print unlimited money with tether... but even then... you do realize millions of people bought your coins for much cheaper? they have thousands, ten thousands.. and they will all sell before you... and then there is nothing left for you to make earnings

You talk tough...calling people stupid.  You must be big kahuna.   You have no right to do that especially since it is his choice and his money.  It is not that bad either.
516  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Did I diversify too much? on: January 27, 2018, 02:07:33 AM
For example, someone told me it's nonsense to hold btc and ltc, because ltc follows btc pumps/dips and I should only hold 1 of them.
Should I consider adding a privacy coin?
Or even more "platform" coins like eth?
You do what you believe will give you the best return.  They can do what they want with their own money.  Diversify and hedge wisely...however you interpret that.  Good luck!
517  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Did I diversify too much? on: January 27, 2018, 01:59:32 AM
Only if you feel that way.  I have 35 coins and I want more. Wink
518  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: HODL or SELL during dip??? on: January 26, 2018, 09:29:52 PM
When I entered the cryptocurrency market, I determined from the start that I was a Holder, my job was to pick a few potential coins, buy a low price and forget about them. Of course, I also have to read and study a lot of the crypto that I invest in, and invest in value so I do not care about price fluctuations in the market. However, after a recent crash just before Christmas, I have a question: "If you are a long-term investor, stop loss before the crash is necessary?"

Necessary? NO.
Smart? YES.

Hard core HODLers don't care but a smart investor with some free time can take advantage of the dips.  Sell high buy low.
519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: HODL or SELL during dip??? on: January 26, 2018, 07:12:47 PM
This is a regular question I see and 99.9% of the answer I see is HODL.

I agree generally but there are exceptions.  Here are a few and I hope others add what I missed.

1.  Coin is really bad you have to abandon it ASAP (see #2 also)
2.  There are better coins and you plan to re-invest (sell then buy another).
3.  If you foresee further dip (alt vs BTC or USD)
4.  If you flip and day trade (risky)

Hope this helps.  Good luck!!!

You're right in saying there are situations where holding is the second best option, generally though the advice will land on hold and I think there's one fundamental reason for that. If prices are already dipping you're already down, the only way to really make that worse is if you then sell at the low and have to buy back at a higher price. If you just hold you are safe as long as the price recovers at some point. You don't maximise profit but you greatly reduce risk.

Copy paste of response above (post #9)
========================================

in a blood bath, what you are selling is indeed at a loss BUT NOTE that what you are buying is also a BARGAIN (on sale).

They even out. Wink

So many here seem to be unaware of this fact.
520  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Privacy Coins on: January 26, 2018, 05:43:06 PM
Monero - You can't go wrong with. King of Privacy and will be for a while.
Verge - Meh, don't trust the developers and they barely just released stealth. I only ever see people investing in Verge to try and make money, not use it for privacy.
DeepOnion - all hype/marketing, no tech. I feel like the only reason they have such a large community was because of the airdrop program. Concerning when it ends.

Another coin to check out would be Spectrecoin (XSPEC). Its got Tor, OBFS4 so it works in Tor blocked places like China & Iran, ring signatures, fast speeds, and its a Proof of Stake coin so you get a 5% yearly return on your coins if you're staking them. The 2.0 release for XSPEC is going to make stealth addresses default (right now they're optional) and introduce Stealth Staking. People don't think Stealth Staking is possible, so it could be a good investment if you get in before its implemented in Q2 2018. Feel free to join the slack and talk to the developers and do your own research.

So basically, I'd go with Monero if you're looking for something that works well RIGHT NOW. Should definitely look into XSPEC though.

I agree 100% with this post.  I'd like to add that the biggest hindrance for XSPEC is the lack of good exchange listing.  I think once it is listed on a major exchange it will spike.  Sadly, I think without that change, it cant grow too much.

There are other cheap anon coins worth considering like Aeon...who knows, they might pick up eventually.

Over all...Monero is still the safest bet.
